The Frog Pond is a nice restaurant on Gulf Blvd. The inside is clean and has nice tables and chairs to sit at. The server was friendly and attentive. We both ordered the special, which included 2 eggs, any style, meat of your choice, home fried potatoes, coffee and juice, and toast with in house made strawberry jam. My wife ordered scrambled eggs with cheese on top, crispy bacon and I ordered over medium with crispy bacon. My breakfast was to my liking, eggs were done right and the bacon was crispy and the house made jam was delicious. My wife was not as happy, she felt there was too much cheese on the eggs and the bacon was too crispy, she also was not crazy about the fries. So a split recommendation here. read more

The Frog Pond has been a breakfast/brunch staple since 1982 and after nearly a full years setback from the Hurricane Helene disaster has very recently reopened and is back in FULL SWING serving filling & delicious breakfasts & brunch of all types! The renovations put it back about to about exactly as I can remember and the Frog memorabilia that help make a visit memorable is all intact! The staff was very friendly and service quite prompt in accommodating our table even receiving a visit from the owner Luciano. Being perplexed by the extensive menu we took the servers recommendations and ordered "The Frog" Benedict made with house made Hollandaise Sauce with hash browned potatoes. The food was fresh, piping hot and quite delicious and there were so many great things on the menu, I feel we will be making regular visits! Who doesn't love a good diner with typical diner coffee. There's nothing quite like the frog pond being so close to the beach and still being a locals favorite. Upon arrival is was pretty busy, but I was seated pretty quick. It seems like they are turning over tables in double the time of typical diners. The servers were attentive to the table but definitely moving quick. The ambiance is hard to notice with the hustle and bustle of the place, and there's a lot of people in one place. The food was okay and typical diner food. I wouldn't say that the breakfast was anything to crave, but it was good. read more

My family just moved to the area & have been looking for our next fave breakfast spot & Frog Pond NAILED IT Luciano was & is always welcoming & just so freaking kind! Louis was the 1st person I got to know, & he ALWAYS makes us feel like were "home" & knows our coffee necessities before we even have to ask! We visited the St. Petersburg location previously and were thrilled to see one open near us this year -- and it absolutely exceeded our expectations! Our table ordered the Frog Benedict, the waffle, and an omelette, and every single dish was outstanding. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. We were already planning to leave a glowing review before we even finished our meals. The atmosphere is absolutely adorable -- warm, inviting, and thoughtfully designed. Our food arrived quickly, and our waitress was attentive and wonderful, keeping our drinks full and checking in at just the right times. What truly set this experience apart, though, was the incredible customer service. After they had closed for the day, someone in our party realized they had accidentally left a purse behind -- and we were flying out the next morning before they reopened. We called (fully expecting no answer since they were closed) and then drove over just in case. A kind employee from a nearby business helped us contact the general manager -- and he actually came back and opened the restaurant for us! He was gracious, kind, and refused to accept anything for his time, even though his workday was already over. That level of care and integrity is rare. This is exactly what a true, community-run local business looks like. Exceptional food, exceptional atmosphere, and genuinely exceptional people. My food came out before my husbands, which would not have been a big deal except that I watched my husbands food sit in the window for almost 10 minutes while our server spoke in depth to her other table about book recommendations. My wife and her mother have eaten at The Frog Pond in the past, but this was my first time. I was not disappointed. Entering the restaurant we were greeted by Luciano. I made the assumption that Luciano was probably the host or manager; he greeted us and showed us to a table. Following that he stayed very busy, vacuuming, cleaning, and helping serve guests. I would later learn that Luciano is the new owner of The Frog Pond. This truly impressed me. These days most owners feel that they are above everyone else, particularly their staff. They typically like to manage, direct, really they like to do anything but work in the trenches with the troops. As a military veteran, I can say that Luciano exhibited what we call the quality of "lead by example". I hope that he is as good of an employer as he seems to be. Once seated we were served by Lindsey and Luis, two wonderful folks who did an incredible job for us. Truly, if I were a business owner I make every effort to steal them away from The Frog Pond. Lindsey and Luis were both very attentive (as was Luciano), very professional, courteous, and friendly. Lindsey and Luis are both great representatives of The Frog Pond, and Luciano should be proud to have such nice folks on his staff. My wife and I sincerely thank you Lindsey, Luis, and Luciano for your wonderful service! We will be back on our next trip to Redington Beach. Now to the food. Wow. The food was great. My wife had the Apple & Walnut Waffles while I had the Roast Beef Omelette. The food was terrific, the portion size was very generous, and it was all freshly made. The omelette was made with fresh mushrooms and onions instead of the canned type that most restaurants use these days. I usually love ketchup on breakfast potatoes, but truly that would have ruined the potatoes which came with my omelette. The potatoes were perfectly seasoned, tasted fantastic, and I could not bring myself to tainting them with ketchup. This says a lot, because I truly do enjoy breakfast potatoes with ketchup, but in this case that would have been a great injustice. I cannot wait until our next trip. God willing, we will be eating at The Frog Pond again. Attached are a couple of photos of our breakfast. We were a big party of eight (including two young kids) and tried this place on a whim--somehow magically was able to get a table on a Sunday at 10am! This place was packed and it's clear why: if you want delicious, affordable (especially for the amount of food!), and prompt diner food, look no further! I got the vegetable omelette with an incredibly impressive side of fruit in lieu of the breakfast potatoes. What an array!! Usually fruit sides are boring melon varieties, but this had blueberries, strawberries, pineapple slices (not squares, so you could tell it was fresh), grapes on the vine, a huge slice of honeydew, and of course a slice of Florida orange. The vegetable medly in the omelette was great: broccoli, onions, peppers, roasted tomatoes, and mushrooms. They didn't make the eggs soggy at all. All eggs came with four pieces of toast, and I realized halfway through that they were different varieties of bread. (The rye was the best in my opinion.) I also got a side of their homemade banana nut bread, and it was some of the best I ever had, very moist with nice walnut chunks! The service was amazing. They constantly refreshed our coffee (I was delighted to see they had decaf once I finished my regular), brought us our various ad-hoc requests (with kids, we had many), and were very friendly. The ambiance is what you would expect: a local, laid-back diner. Same with the food selections. No bespoke milk options, no substitutions, but we didn't expect otherwise. They also had a guy making balloon animals who was extremely talented and did it all for free! The kids in our group loved it! Had the most disgusting meal. They microwaved the Quiche and slathered a huge piece of nasty cheese on top-then they only took 1/2 off the bill. we went on a Sunday late morning and the place was packed and very loud. Service was fast and efficient, the portions are absurdly huge. A lesson on portion size would help the profit line of the business and waistline of patron. a side of fruit is nigh unto an entire fruit bowl from your kitchen counter. We ordered quiche, the Loraine which is typically a light egg dish was a very heavy pie with layers of bacon and a thick layer of cheese on top. Some would say what's to complain about? Well if you like your quiche to be more like deep dish pizza with layers of toppings you'll love it. The crust on the quiche was soggy. The sausage quiche was the same meat lovers thick cheese pizza burdened imposter. The American fries were lacking salt and burnt in areas. We didn't get the wheat toast we ordered which was a shame because from seeing others it is a thick sliced good looking bread. The coffee was good and waiter went the extra mile to explain they did not serve alcohol but patrons could bring their own in then commenced to bring us the makings for a virgin Bloody Mary which was again an over abundance of celery and olives. Me and my homegirl are visiting from NYC and we were just ordering take out and Luciano sat down next to us, and literally went through the menu with us. If you ever wondered where you could go for breakfast where 1/4 of an onion, sautéed, would cost more than a side of 2 eggs, look no further - Frog Pond is the place. To add some context, I ordered eggs scrambled with some onions. No big deal, I do this at many different restaurants. Server takes the order and walks away. She then serves the food. No onions in the eggs, but sets down a separate small plate of sautéed onions. I asked, what's this? I requested the onions to be scrambled into the eggs. Her reply: "we don't do that here." Me: don't you think that would have been a great detail to share with me when I ordered? Her: I guess so, sorry. I didn't think much of it and used a couple bites of the onion in the potatoes. Then the bill comes. My wife ordered a side of eggs. The price was $2.75, which I thought was reasonable. The onions? $3.37! I was in disbelief. Normally, an extra ingredient like onions in eggs is like $1.00. You would think I was adding onions to an XL pizza and even then it wouldn't be $3.37. I spoke to a manager (useless dude in a pink polo) who completely lacked empowerment (or will) to adjust the check, despite the whole lack of transparency by the server. He doesn't set the pricing I was told. Also note to visitors to the Reddington/Indian Shores areas, the staff here is very friendly with the locals, but, as visitors, we were virtually ignored. That was a shame as the place came highly recommended by the innkeeper where we stayed in Indian Shores. No problem, it's a one and done. The rest of the food, with the exception of the bacon, which was overcooked to the point of burnt jerky, was very good. Since I was left to pay for the equivalent of three to four pounds of onions, it's my duty to share this here as a warning. read more

After reading some of the reviews, I was really wanting to love the breakfast but I was disappointed. I love me some home fries BUT though they are made from scratch and not the frozen cubes, they were really lacking any crisp. Think more like scalloped potato slices that were warm and soft, not seasoned that fell flat. But I did like the bread and seemingly home made jam. Portion sizes are large, so it's a place for the hungry! Just lower your expectations, sorry. Our group had eggs Benedict, Bananas Foster Waffle with bananas and fosters syrup on top, Cinnamon Roll French Toast and an omelette that could fer a family of 3. Service was slow even though we came mid/late morning on Tuesday. Perhaps that's the beach time and what the regular crowd expects but it became annoying along with the manager, I assume, vacuuming the floors.
