    Fried grouper sandwhich
    Kristi B.

This is a must stop at when we are in town. Their food has been consistent for the 10+ years that we've been coming down here. When we get into town, they're always our first stop for lunch. They have a pretty extensive menu of options, but our go to is the fried grouper sandwich with American cheese and no lettuce or tomato. Our other go to is the lobster roll. Now this go around we did notice the lobster was more shredded than it was chunks which is what we've seen previously so that was a bit of a change, but overall, it was still good. We've had the onion rings before but this go round we decided to share a side of french fries and we did ask for them crispy. They were perfect. Be prepared to wait though as this location is super small and if you come during a busy season or around that lunchtime period you're most likely going to have to wait. This is not a great location for large groups. If you have more than five people in your group this is probably not the best location for you as they cannot seat more than one large group at a time. But, one thing we did notice is that you can walk up and order to go. That's a great option to have and something we may take advantage of in the future.

If you want a fabulous lobster roll this is the place to go!! The place is cozy - small with limited seating but I promise you'll be greeted by a smiling server who will gladly give you advice and take your order. Go early and go often. We went with 5 people, 3 of us got the lobster rolls (totally amazing!) 1got the fried shrimp (you get sooo many!) and 1 got fried clams. Be sure to have some onion rings and some fries too!

The servers were pretty standard. Didn't smile much, just there to get your orders and fill your drinks every once in a while. The ambience is cramped due to lack of space. The Philly cheesesteak and bowl were pretty lackluster. It honestly wasn't that expensive though so you kinda pay for what you get I guess, haha. We probs won't be coming back.

Grouper sandwich- Cajun seasoned. And a side coleslaw

The host, our server, and the busboy were all really friendly. Small interior and exterior seating along a busy boardwalk near an inlet. Grouper sandwich was tasty! Cheeseburger fries were served with a lot of cheese. It was an interesting combination. Messy, too.

Take it from a born and raised Pennsylvania girl, their Philly cheese steaks were AMAZING!! Even had Amoroso Rolls!!! The onion rings were the size of a donut and delicious! One of the best Lobster rolls I've ever had! Only took about 3 years to find a place that comes close to PA's cheesesteaks, We will be back!

We enjoyed eating here. It is a small place. The service was top notch. We think the prices matched the quality of food. Highly recommend eating here.

This was unexpectedly and by far our best meal while on a weekend staycation in Treasure Island area! You'd never think this tiny, unassuming spot in John's Pass would have such quality and delicious food. It's very east coast feeling- their most popular offering is the lobster roll, and for good reason. It's gigantic and SO good. But everything we tried was really good. The Boardwalk Grill is super small, so there was a wait when we got there and I'm assuming most days there are, but wow was it worth it. Even the fried clam bites I got were so fresh and yummy. I will surely come back again for the shrimp tacos and lobster roll. What this place lacks in personality/ aesthetic it more than makes up for in what they serve!!

    Delicious onion rings!

The Boardwalk Grill id the best food, the best people and the best place for beer in John's Pass. Yes, it's small, yes, you'll probably have to wait for a table, but it's worth every single minute. Grab a beer while you wait, watch for dolphins, watch the boats and jet ski's and prepared yourself for delicious food. Sit inside, sit on the boardwalk, immerse yourself in the beauty of John's Pass. It's repeatable. It's delicious. It's the best.

Right on the Johns Pass Boardwalk- this little place is a yummy stop! It is tiny but has inside and outside seating with a real beach feel. The staff work together to make sure everyone is taken care of. We just wanted a little snack so my son and I split the Boardwalk Philly Fries- these were fresh cut potato fries with a huge mound of Philly meat, nacho cheese and grilled onions- WAY yummy and WAY more than enough! Nice stop on the Boardwalk!

Service was friendly. Restaurant was clean. We ordered the fish and chips . It was enough for 2 . Grouper was the fish. The fish was not drained ( very greasy) . The grouper wasn't soft and flaky. The seasoned fries were perfectly crispy and delicious. Cole slaw was good. Wish we had got the lobster. Everything usually is great.

Fish tacos and macaroni salad. The tacos had huge chunks of fish! They were good. Mac salad was okay
    Rachel E.

The food was good and the view was wonderful. It wasn't busy when we went for dinner. You can sit inside or outside on the water and it's a small place. Service was good. The shrimp tacos were great. The fish poboy was good, but a bit too much bread/garnish to fish ratio. The Mac salad was alright, but I wouldn't get again. The onion rings were good. I thought we'd want more food, but we were both stuffed a little bit leftover.

    Lobster Roll extraordinaire!
    Jane D.

A server at another restaurant said we had to go here for the Lobster Rolls, so we made a little day trip to the boardwalk and snagged one of the 2 outside tables. The service was excellent, the people watching was fun, and the LR was my first and best! We also had the clam strips, which we equally enjoyed. We will go here again when we visit the area, and we don't often do return visits! A treat in local and quay-side cuisine.

    Steve P.

Had to add photos of our second visit. Also outstanding and also beat the crowd by arriving about 5 pm. Line grew quickly after we were seated again. Love the cheesesteak! And fries still the best in the area.

    The best "veggie donuts" around.

Is this restaurant wheelchair friendly? How many stairs going in? up? down? Is there handicap parking?

The restaurant itself is part of the boardwalk which does have an elevator and ramp. The restaurant itself does have a step up into the store front. The general public parking may have some handicap spaces nearby.

    Is there parking?

John's Pass is a fun place to stroll around. Claudia is correct--the restaurant overlooks the water, so you need to park somewhere in/around the John's Pass shopping area.

The restaurant is located behind the German club on 66th Street, a second business in the German club parking lot! Apparently, the family that has his place is from Maine and they got a lot of success brewing beer. That's success led them to start the restaurant serving seafood from a family business in Maine. We started off with a bowl of New England clam chowder and a dozen oysters. To what are whistles we got a glass of their tap Chardonnay and a beer. My wife's Chardonnay was ridiculously good! But nothing could beat those oysters - sweet with a little bit of brine, and very fresh. For dinner we got a lobster roll - they come hot or cold, with the hot coming with melted butter. We also got the fried haddock roll.... Wow! Both were fantastic! I know we overdid it with dinner.... We even got an order of the whole belly clams. I didn't think anyone in Florida served those down here! Absolutely ridiculous . In short, we had fantastic dinner and terrific beverages. I really recommend you at least try to find the place - we almost didn't go in because of its awkward location and the fact that no cars were outside. We saw the place was open and decided to have a appetizer because the Yelp review was so strong, and I'm glad we did! I told the two people there they should park their cars nearby so patrons would see them..... Anyway, I'm going back again, but this time I'm bringing friends!

My family and I had such a great experience, and I'd easily give it a 9/10 for the food, service, and ambiance. Even though it was a rainy day and only indoor seating was available, it didn't take away from the experience at all. The restaurant has windows throughout, so no matter where you're seated, you still get gorgeous views of the water. The staff was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and attentive. You can tell they genuinely care about making sure guests have a great experience. Another thing I appreciated was that the food is made fresh to order, and the seafood tasted exceptionally fresh. We started with the Kung Pao Calamari, and wow...I honestly could've eaten the entire plate myself! It was packed with flavor, perfectly cooked, and easily one of the best appetizers I've had in a while. For my entrée, I ordered the Maine Lobster Roll, and it was outstanding--fresh, buttery, and loaded with lobster. I paired it with the plantain mashed potatoes, which completely surprised me. I wasn't sure what to expect, but they were absolutely delicious and something I'd order again without hesitation. My refreshing Peach Margarita was the perfect complement to the meal. Around the table, the Fish & Chips and the Grouper BLT were both big hits. The only small critique is that the hush puppies were a little overdone. Aside from that, everything was flavorful and thoroughly enjoyed. Overall, Buoys delivered an excellent dining experience with fresh food, warm hospitality, and beautiful waterfront views. We'll definitely be back the next time we're in St. Pete!

Perhaps we tried the wrong things, but we were hungry (which usually increases the appreciation for the food), and our choices ranged from not good to good. The dip appetizer- Not good. It was the crab dip with seasoned cheez-it shaped crackers. The crab did not have good flavor and the crackers were over salted. Wasn't a good balance for my taste buds. Didn't eat most of it. The oysters appetizer- Good. They were fresh which is ALWAYS appreciated. I didnt like that the shells weren't rinsed, which led to alot of shell in my slurps and the actual oyster sizes ranged from normal to small. One was almost tiny. My main meal- Good. I had the special...a Blackened Hogfish stuffed with crab and scallops. The fish on it's own was ok, but the bites with the stuffing as the whole were good. The rice and beans along with it were cooked perfectly. My friend had the Blackened Grouper and enjoyed it thoroughly. Desserts- Very Good- 50/50. The Coconut Cheesecake was absolutely DELICIOUS, definitely homemade. The Chocolate Cheesecake was just ok, but killed the sweet treat itch. Ambiance- Tranquil. If you're looking for beautiful scenery while eating pretty good food out on the patio area, this is it. The main dining area upstairs was a typical old seafood diner type vibe. The bathrooms are also located upstairs. Service was informative and attentive. It wasn't the best seafood I've had, but I'd definitely come back for the view. Pricing was fair. Check them out!

So nice we had to visit TWICE…read more The coconut crusted mahi mahi was a highlight. It was soft and fully coated with obviously real coconut - not sugared or overly sweet. It was a huge fillet, which makes up for having some smaller sides. I'll let you in on a little secret, I only eat fish when it's locally caught and fresh and this was worth it 100%. The house salad with Pima colada dressing has me imagining how to make this dressing at home. Sweet and creamy and easily coating every leaf. The bread at the start of the meal for a disproportionate amount of attention from my family. It was served hot, with garlic and maybe other seasonings across the top, and generous sides of butter. Our initial server, Kyle, kept the bread flowing for us until the meal came and it was fantastic. We gave the potato skins a try, and they were delicious! My family ironically isn't huge conch / shelled fish eaters so the rest of the appetizers didn't suit us much and this was a lil Midwest taste while on vacation. We returned to try the jalapeño crusted grouper and were again very satisfied. Totally different than the coconut mahi, it's savory and well flavored but leaves you far from begging for water. The fish is thick and flaky and the sauce was similar to a bang bang sauce to pair it all together. The favorite sides were loaded baked potato and garlic smashed potatoes! Broke N Bored - Name Checks Out…read more We visited Broke N Bored with a group of 6 adults and 3 kids, and after nearly 2 hours waiting for our food, I can confirm the "Bored" part of the name is extremely accurate. I spent most of the meal wondering if the "Broke" part referred to the stove. When we arrived, there was only one other family in the restaurant, so naturally we expected a reasonable wait. Instead, we had enough time to watch the tides change, discuss our retirement plans, and nearly raise the children to adulthood before the entrees arrived. To start things off, we were encouraged to sit outside in the blazing Florida sun. With three little kids, that wasn't happening. The staff did move us inside, but seemed less than thrilled about it. Considering how long we ended up waiting, sitting outside would've turned us into SpongeBob from his out of water movie. Appetizers: * The PB&J Brussels sprouts were fantastic. Unique, flavorful, and easily the best thing we ordered. * The seared tuna was very good. * The calamari tasted good, but apparently calamari prices must be through the roof because there were more fried banana peppers than actual squid. Service: The waitresses were friendly, but drink refills and table check-ins could have been much better. During a two-hour dining experience, hydration becomes a survival issue. Entrees: * The mahi was excellent. * The "pineapple slaw" had about as much pineapple flavor as a bag of plain cabbage. Just call it slaw and save everyone's expectations. * The crab cakes were mediocre and thinner than Slender Man. * The Caesar chicken wrap was okay, but I had to conduct an archaeological dig through the lettuce to locate the chicken. * Fries were fine. * The chicken caprese was decent if you got a bite with everything together, but the chicken itself was chewy and lacking flavor. * Mashed potatoes were dry. * Pulled pork was okay, but nothing memorable. * The Black & Blue burger was decent. By the time our entrees arrived, nobody had the patience left for dessert, so we skipped it. One final note: a restaurant this size having only two high chairs is a bold strategy for a family-friendly beach area. Overall, there were a few genuinely good menu items, especially the Brussel sprouts and mahi, and the staff was pleasant. But waiting almost two hours for food in a restaurant that wasn't busy overshadows nearly everything else. The food was mostly decent. The experience? Long enough to make the restaurant's name feel less like branding and more like a warning.
