Frog town was outstanding! My husband and his best friend have been telling me about the Frog town dry rub wings for years. And let me tell you..... unreal I will be dreaming about them. I would love to give this place 5 stars but I can't. We specifically came for the first wings, but they ran out! There was a sign in the dining room "Please let the bartender know you are here, there is no waitress" We felt so bad for her. She was tending bar in the other room, and service 5-6 tables! She did a great job though! We order burgers and they were spot on, Cooked perfectly and the meat had great flavor. Great casual dining with a delicious menu and great service. Stopped here on a whim on a trip from Jersey to Cleveland and was most pleasantly surprised. I had a pork loin with home made ground mustard and black pepper topping, tater tots that took me right back to my childhood and a smart salad and delicious cole slaw. I understand with COVID many places are short staffed so most of my review is not about the delayed service of 1.5 hours before we were served. My main frustration with the delay is we made a reservation, as they highly suggested, but we still saw others served before us which we felt was reflective of "locals" getting quicker service. I am giving them two stars mostly for the food. We were excited to eat here as the menu had many appetizing options. We ordered deep fried green beans, the turkey platter (like a thanksgiving meal), wings, and fries. The fried items looked like they were fried in oil that was too old. The green beans were pretty tasty, but the rest of the food was lackluster. The turkey was okay, but the stuffing was dry and hard, and the gravy was cold. The fries were soggy and under seasoned. In this area, what a nice respite. A bar in one room, and a restaurant in the next room. Simple enough. But what works for me are several things. One, I like a good dive, and this is what is this place. It ain't fancy (of course not, it's a local bar!) The servers are very nice and welcoming. Mostly locals sit around catching up on everyday life. I like this kinda joint. On this first visit for me, in the area for some business, just looking for a bite close to my hotel. Found on Yelp and the wings looked respectable. That was enough to draw me in. Sat at the bar and ordered a Manhattan on the rocks. Just felt like one to ready the appetite. Super nice bartender, Becky, is out of rocks glasses, so she fixes up my drink in a beer glass, which worked for me. Damn good. I was warned the wings would take 20 minutes to serve. Way whoa wha? Bartender says chef likes to get em good and crispy. Fine by me because that's the way I like em. Oh, and make it buffalo style. Wings did not disappoint. Done exactly the way they should be done. We tried this place after looking online and viewing the menu and pictures. We were very surprised when we walked in at the overwhelming smell of smoke. We decided we would try it anyway even though there was only one other table in the restaurant. Wait staff was nice and food came out quickly but tasted like it was precooked. What a pleasant surprise! I've eaten in the Drums Valley before, even at places that others have raved about but left me cold (I'm looking at you, Brass Buckle and Sally Pursell's). This place was in the right place (on my way out of Hazleton) at the right time (when I was very, very hungry) and the food really hit the spot. Clearly this place has some fun with its menu, offering some not-seen-near Hazleton delicacies like escargot and frogs' legs. Its more main-stream fare offers some surprises as well, like my entree last night, the Philly Mac and Cheesesteak Hoagie. It was a fresh hoagie roll filled with creamy mac and cheese threaded through with shaved steak, caramelized onions, and fried peppers. My husband got a turkey, tomato, and mozzarella sandwich served on ciabatta bread that was packed with turkey and flavor. We had a competent order of stuffed mushrooms for a starter and an enormous plate of fries as a side. We could have gotten the small fry. It would have been plenty for two people, especially considering the heft of the sandwiches. Overall, it was a good value for the money. Service was good considering there was one waitress and one cook on a Wednesday night. As far as ambiance goes, this place really doesn't have any. Flowery wallpaper and cheap wood paneling. Great hidden gem in the area! Took an old friend here for his birthday, and the dining experience was fantastic! Escargot, crab stuffed mushrooms and frog leg appetizers were all very good. If you or a person in your party has never tried the above foods, this is a great restaurant to do so. You won't be disappointed! Flounder and turkey entrees were generous portions, and mixed drinks were done well. Sure to visit here again. Our family ate here about a month ago and the food was really good. You could tell there was a lot of pride in the cooking and the freshness of the ingredients. On top of that, one of the nicest staffs we've had in this area who were very attentive, gave great suggestions and provided a memorable experience for our family.
