Shopping in Waikiki, Honolulu, Hawaii…read more.. My friend, Cece, from Northern California, sent me a post about the new Hello Kitty print which was arriving in July 3, 2026. I didn't think anything until she explained that the fresh, green, exclusive design is only available in a backpack, laptop sleeve, pencil case, and lunch bag... plus, it will only be shipped to Hawaii addresses with a minimum purchase of $200 to avoid shipping charges. Uhg... I pondered about what to get. Cece said the pencil case ($32) was on the small side. She went to the store and snapped a few photos with her hand for size comparison. Hmm... I decided on the lunch bag because it included a crossbody strap as well as a handle on the top. Cece stood in line for me and said that the salespeople were super kind and organized. She was first in line and got my bag for me. Later, I went when there was no line. The cozy shop was clean and bright and stocked well! Cashiers were smiling and helpful! I'm so happy with this quality, exclusive product! Thank you, Cece, for helping me with this decision!

Walked into this specific Aloha Collection store only to be met by the RUDEST customer service…read moresales associate. There were signs inside the store for discounted rates if you're willing to spend $150 or more, and being a fan of the brand I was ready to do so. I only wanted to confirm which bags are included (also stated on signs inside store to ask sales associate) and this girl gave so much bad attitude when getting asked about this store promo. To the store manager of this specific location (next to Moana Surfrider) , please don't hire sales associates who don't enjoy helping your customers because I was so turned off by this that I walked out the store without purchasing due to the service I received. Today is April 26, 2026, time around 4pm and she was wearing blue/green, long hair, islander girl. This definitely did not sit well with me that I had to immediately write this review.

My family and most of East Hawai'i years+ ago were loyal to mom 'n pop stores like Modern Appliance. Next door, Kay's Lunch Center had the most delicious Korean fried chicken made by "mom", and slices of homemade cream pies by "pop". ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Kai Store since 1948, Chika Nakano since 1975, Optical Dispensers, Hilo Siam Thai Restaurant (see my Yelp review), and Leung's Chop Suey House since 1975. Doris Place since 1948 on the west side and Hirano Store since 1969 in Mountain View. These are some of the mom 'n pop stores currently still in-business on the Big Island of Hawai'i. This store is always busy no matter what time it is. People come here to pick up their Disney…read moremerchandise. I love to check out the different designs of their bags. I've bought a few over the years. I didn't see anything that I liked this time around. They did have those popular Disney x Aloha print bags near the entrance. People were buying everything in the store. They were standing in line holding clothes, mugs, toys, headbands with the ears and snacks. I really liked the Disney ears, but they were $40 something each or $30 each when you buy 3. I decided not to get them, even though they were so cute.

They partner with local artists to create some very unique designs and everything is made with great care and high quality. I think my favorite part about this store is that you can customize your own frame. You first select the base size, then pick the frame and you can select additional wooden elements for decoration. They turn out very cute and I think it makes it a very memorable souvenir. Besides the frames, they also have amazing art pieces and smaller gift items like magnets and coasters. They also have a very nice selection of Christmas ornaments which I think are way better than the ones they sell at the Christmas stores in Waikiki. If you want a unique and high quality souvenir from your time in Oahu. I definitely recommend checking out this store!

We left with 5 or 6 shirts because they all looked great. Staff looked like they were constantly restocking the shirts so they were not lacking in inventory. Shirts were about $49 which was steep but it makes sense with how Patagonia is. I'm glad I was able to make it and its worth it if you're a big t-shirt collector.

Shopping at Ohana Hale Marketplace in Honolulu, Hawaii…read more.. When you visit the vendors at the former Sports Authority location on Ward Avenue, you cannot miss Aloha Imagination. This is the first booth (straight ahead) you'll come across when you enter the glass doors. I thought that this small business had a Yelp page already. Upon investigation, Aloha Imagination was not on the Yelp radar yet! I spoke with the owner, Karen, and she helped me get this page together! Karen is very enthusiastic and knowledgeable! She made great suggestions and even opened some packages of masks and arranged them on the counter for better photos! I always looked at the jewelry when I passed by her booth. I didn't notice the Hawaiian themed flasks, baby bibs, reusable tote bags, flower hair clips, and other useful souvenirs. I was drawn to the fabric face masks - especially the turtle prints. They're so cute! I got a large one and a medium one... after I wash them and try them on, I'll be back for more!
