I've been here numerous times, unfortunately this time they missed the mark. With nothing in their cases and customer service to match it just wasn't the experience we were used to. The two desserts we did manage to get were sub par and we threw the moon pie in the trash! We did get a club sandwich and it was yummy. My family and I visited on July 9, 2026. The service was good, and everyone we interacted with was very friendly. Unfortunately, both my wife and I became very ill after eating here. We ate lunch around 2:00 p.m. I ordered the Grilled Reuben, and my wife ordered the fried bologna sandwich. Less than an hour after our meal, I developed severe diarrhea, and every time I tried to eat afterward, it became worse. My symptoms lasted for several hours, continuing until about 1:00 a.m. My wife also became sick shortly after me, though her illness wasn't quite as severe as mine. The only other meal we had that day was breakfast at around 7:30 a.m. at a different restaurant in another state, several hours before lunch. While I can't say with absolute certainty what caused our illness, the timing of our symptoms makes us strongly suspect it was related to the food we ate here. As we were traveling from Pigeon Forge, Tennessee back to Winston-Salem, NC and we cut through Cherokee to visit the Cherokee Bear Zoo. I chose a hot ham and cheese sandwich with bbq potato chips and a fountain drink. The order took about 7 or 8 minutes to be prepared and brought to me in a box to the table where I sat and waited. There was seating outside by the river/creek(?) I believe and then there was seating inside. It looks like it was once another restaurant or some other establishment taht they have transformed into this deli. Don't let the looks of the inside deter you, though! The food was phenomenal! We ordered at the counter. The girl was very patient and answered our questions about what came on each sandwich. We just got sandwiches and chips. We tried the Rubin, the Italian, and my son got the toasted beef. The Rubin came toasted on marble rye. It was very good. We ordered lunch and had a Big Joey. When it came out, I thought I had died and gone to Heaven! Thick sliced fried bologna with pimento cheese and bacon, grilled perfectly and served in a basket with barbeque chips. One of the best things I've eaten in awhile. While traveling, we drove through this town, Cherokee. The buildings are designed like teepees. We went into this restaurant to order food. The female employee was extremely rude to us. We asked about Native Americans in the area because my grandfather was a Cherokee. The female employee made a smart remark towards us. We arrived a little after 5 pm for an early dinner before catching the "Unto These Hills" play that evening. We were greeted warmly when we entered by the staff who were helping other customers and cleaning. The room was much larger inside than what I expected and featured a very casual atmosphere. Come as you are, and you'll be fine. After reading the reviews, I went with the meatloaf sandwich. It was served hot and on soft ciabatta bread that was nicely buttered and toasted. I think it was about a pound of meatloaf in the sandwich. More than enough to fill you up. The meatloaf was well seasoned and had ketchup on top. Also in the sandwich were several pieces of melting cheese to bring it all together. You are offered the choice between regular lays and barbecue lays chips. More chip choices might be the only room for improvement in the meal, but not really a big deal. You'll also receive a pickle spear on your plate. Others in my party had a ham sandwich, grilled cheese (adult and kids versions - adult version has more of varieties of cheese included. My son even requested peanut butter be added to his grilled cheese which they did. Don't knock it till you try it. He said it was almost as good as mine) and another meatloaf sandwich. Everyone talked about what a great meal it was. My only regret was not saving room for one of the desserts I read about here on Yelp. Just happened to stop here while on vacation. We were driving through Cherokee and needed something to tie us over until dinner. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. We all ordered Reubens which came with chips and a pickle spear. Very reasonably priced at $7.99. The meat was tender and the bread was toasted perfectly. There is an ice cream counter and fresh pastries. Four of us split a cinnamon roll which was made fresh the same morning. It was soft, tasty and had plenty of icing. This place is so cute and delicious. Three of us were trying to find somewhere to eat out of the casino that wouldn't cost an arm and a leg but would still satisfy us for our drive back home. We could not have been happier with our choice. The homemade chili was delicious. The sandwiches are made fresh with deli meat that is absolutely delicious, the bread and cheeses are all fresh too. Lastly, the bakery items were divine. There is nothing better than homemade baking goods made with love. The cupcakes were great and we even got hot apple cider for the ride home. Other than delicious food the most important thing a business should have is good customer service. The owner and his wife are both amazing and super sweet.
