Breakfast sandwich and brioche French toast with a side of bacon.
    Ellen P.

Food was really good, we tried the brioche French toast, breakfast sandwich and the yogurt parfait. All were a good. Service was excellent. A little pricey, but the view of the running stream out the window added to the ambiance.

This place is awesome! Best Grilled Chicken Salad I have ever had…read more I asked the owner how the chicken tastes like that. He said they use a seasoned grill, so all those different tastes from everything cooked on the grill are mixed in. That taste really popped! And the vegetables were super fresh. I even enjoyed the bacon bits (not like me). I preferred the Thousand Island dressing over the Italian dressing for this meal. I didn't eat the egg (I only eat scrambled eggs). The second trip was more of a breakfast meal and also very strong. Super-fresh fruit, eggs cooked very well done as requested, good bacon, and quality toast. I would give the first meal a 10 and the second meal a 9.4. Both incredibly high. The staff is very friendly, the prices are fair, and they will accommodate anything you want that isn't on the menu as long as they have it. Highly Recommended!

Lovely diner with delicious food, friendly staff and a homey vibe…read more We stopped in a little after 11 on a Saturday, and had a short wait for lunch. After being seated, the staff came over and let us know the kitchen was switching to lunch, which we planned to get. I opted for the Light Lunch, with a half BLT and cup of chicken noodle soup. My partner ordered the Ruben with sweet potato fries. They are definitely worth the small up charge! We ended with a slice of homemade carrot cake which was large and delicious. We ended up bringing half of it home.

Absolutely phenomenal…read more No wonder they were rated one of the top restaurants in the southeast, and that's not just for breakfast places. This place does everything right! If anyone reading this wants to open a restaurant, I would highly recommend studying this place. Let's get to the good stuff. I was told I would have a 30-minute wait, and that's just for one--I always travel solo on a poker trip. Well ... almost any trip. Anyway, I explored the grounds and I found a large lawn, a creek, a bridge over that creek, a fake mill (I think it was fake), and three little birds (they were not at my doorstep). After this pleasant exploration that brought great peace and even the idea of moving to Maggie Valley to be closer to poker (and a pancake house), I was called in. The super friendly lady that checked me in told me it would be worth the wait. She was not wrong. So, check this out. Two big pancakes, perfectly cooked dry scrambled eggs as I ordered them, and the best bacon I have ever tasted was a total of around $15 before tax. That's a pretty good deal, especially for one of the best breakfast experiences of your life. My waitress was also superb. I won't mention a name because now that I stopped writing books and this is my writing outlet, some have jumped over and each Google review is getting 10k-100k views (not talking about photos, actual reviews). And then people speculate. I'm going to avoid all that drama. I might have made one mistake with my meal, but it depends how you view it. I went with the super healthy syrup. It's not called Super Healthy Syrup, but that's how I viewed it. I'm a gym rat and I don't eat heavy at all but I sure don't like boring. The pancakes themselves were excellent but I chose the wrong syrup. Now I know to go with the chemically-enhanced version. It's the rebel in me. Gotta do it. Last thing: atmosphere is amazing. Everything is spotless and perfectly spaced. Just so you know, you pay at the front. Extremely Highly Recommended! To have Joey's Pancake House and Frankie's Italian Trattoria right down the street from each other is something.

I got the coconut refresher, not too sweet and still had caffeine. They have topo Chico, my favorite sparkling water, so they got bonus points for that. They have a pastry window(?) that had a decadent looking, huge, slice of blueberry coffee cake and a cheesecake I would have tried if I was in the mood for sweets. I saw a couple enjoying it and letting the staff know the coffee was delicious. The tables are spacious, there were only around 6 people when I went and the atmosphere made it easy to ignore the other people and write this. But other "strangers" began conversations so it is still inviting. The music is acoustical versions of modern songs. I saw a staff cleaning the counters around the place while I ate so they definitely keep it clean. The gentleman who took my order was friendly and not overbearing. Overall perfect place to sit and read on my break from a gloomy day. Only note would be that I wanted my food for here and they made it to go.

The barista created us right away and let us know there were menus on the counter to look at. Ordering was quick and we reviewed our drinks rather quickly. We ordered the Cortadito and a brown sugar cinnamon latte. The latte was way too strong with little oat milk. The cordito was very sweet, if you prefer less sweet be sure to ask for it.

The meat and three along with the vegetable only options are welcomed changes to the family style only meal for those desiring smaller portions. In our experience, the food was served hot and was perfectly prepared. We chose white meat chicken and received two large breast that were excellent! The two catfish fillets and four slices of meat loaf were delicious. The vegetables were Lima beans, cabbage casserole, creamed corn, potatoes au gratin, slaw and a spring salad. All were served fresh with two biscuits and two corn muffins. The relish, apple butter and Sogrum-sage butter were delightful. We were blessed to have April for our server, and highly recommend her for your visit. She shared the history of the area and is proud of the changes and history of the Dillard House. Thank you for a great meal. The fried chicken is better than I remembered. Yes, the restaurant is open, and parts of the motel are being remodeled/updated and the new hotel is under construction. Don't let the remodeling deter you from the eating at the restaurant or enjoying your favorite drink from the bar.

Poor service, poor food quality. Not impressed at all…read more Ambience is nice, very spacious, newly built, restaurant. Friendly staff. Not very attentive at all. Say for 15 minutes before the manager had to obtain a server for our table. After the food was delivered, the server did not provide adequate service. I requested a water refill, which took an additional 15 minutes, because she continually forgot. Food quality wasn't the greatest. They served chicken, which consisted of 2 thighs and 2 drumsticks. Along with friend catfish filets, that had been way over salted. Both were very soggy. I ate half the thigh and quit. Veggies? Only vegetables were Lima beans, everything else considered vegetables, was a casserole. A table full of starches. Over rated and over priced. Sadly disappointed. If you want good southern food, go further south to Thomasville, GA. Go to O'Neals. You can fool some folks, but not someone that knows southern cooking. We won't return.
