This was such a fun experience! I ended up coming to a comedy show they were doing for a fundraiser. We had so much fun! I've never been here before the staff was super nice and I was shocked at the drink selection they had. They had plenty of seating and it was a perfect view to the stage wherever you sat.

What a cool unique experience! A large group of us decided to go and see the show on a Saturday night. And it was a great experience! The venue is so cute. They have a small bar where you can order drinks but not sit down. They offer like two of everything! So you can can certainly find something you like. They offer free popcorn! Amazing! A price you cannot beat! They have designated large men and women's restroom that were very clean. The staff everywhere were soooooo nice! If you get the performers a round of beer be ready for a big surprise ( I won't spoil if for you here). The prices are reasonable on everything. They offer student discounts which is nice. The show was great! We especially enjoyed garrett zajac and his recurring ladder. How funny! I've heard they have a rotating group of 20 and there were 6 in our show. So it might be different everything you visit. The crowd gives topics and suggestions so that adds to the fun. They got two girls up on stage at one point. That bit was pretty funny! It's a little like Whose Line is It Anyway where they play games it appears they have played before. And they have a keyboard Player that added music from time to time. It's a fun time!

What a talented bunch of folks! My husband and I have been meaning to go to one of Front Porch Improv's (FPI) shows, but it just never seemed to be a good time to make all the arrangement for childcare and all the planning a date night entails when you have young kids. Last week, I had seen an event listing that FPI would be performing at The Savannah Cultural Arts Center on a Saturday afternoon and saw that it was a family friendly show, so I jumped at the chance and immediately booked the tickets to check it out with the fam. - Admission - Tickets were only $5 and were available to purchase directly on FPI's website. Children 5 and under were free. It was a super easy process where you just indicate the number of tickets you desire, plug in your credit card number and then they send you an email with all the tickets. - The Show - The show was awesome! I am still in awe of what these actors do on the daily. They don't have a script, just a bunch of random ideas, which means, they have to wing it ALL. OF. THE. TIME. They have to be quick witted and think on their feet with whatever the crowd throws at them. And with kids, it's even more challenging, because some of the younger kids just didn't understand the question and the kids give suggestions that don't make sense, but the group made it work anyway! I also loved seeing the actors chuckle at their own ideas as they were developing them and acting it out and the way they were feeding off of each other. Sometimes, I think it's actually funnier to watch someone laughing than what they are doing to make you laugh. It's contagious, don't you think? The show was about an hour long and I think that was the perfect length, given their target audience for this show. They got all the kids involved in the last skit and the kids loved that! - Heads Up - 1. FPI is the group behind Savannah For Morons, the comedy trolley tour with two guys in rompers, claiming their twins. Hmmmm...perhaps brothers from another mother? 2.They are in the process of renovating their own space to perform and it will be ready in February 2020! I can't wait to check out one of their shows for the mature audience after seeing the family friendly one. Laughter is THE best medicine and these guys are the best cure for any day!

The perfect thing to do for a girls weekend in Savannah on a Friday night. Our group of five ordered tickets online and came in right at show time. We luckily (and slightly anxiously) we're still able to secure good seats in the front. This was my first improv show so I don't have a good measure for these things but I will say the cast is absolutely hilarious. They engage the audience frequently and also showcase different types of improv. A small but reasonable menu of alcohol is available for purchase-- wines, beers, seltzers, etc. This place fosters an inclusive and accepting culture that is undeniable- we talked with a few of the cast members after and everyone was down to earth, friendly, and relatable. Overall, I'm surprised we didn't pay more money to see a fun show like this. Definitely worth checking out when visiting Savannah or making part of your regular rotation of entertainment if you're a local!!

Update time! So we finally got to make it to a Saturday show at the new Theater! I highly recommend purchasing your tickets online in advance because they do have reduced capacity. They also do zoom shows. I love the vibe of their new theater though! Parking is few, so get there a little early. Support local. Support comedy. Support performing arts! Most of all, have a great time. Unless you hate laughing.

What a quirky little place in Savannah. It was well worth the trip. There were plenty of drink choices at the bar but limited to beer and wine. With our watermelon beers and hot fresh popcorn, we were treated to an evening of witty improv in a sold out venue. read more

What a blast. This was our first real improve experience. Support your local theater and local talent and visit this improv. They were super engaging and took the time to know the audience. Masks are mandatory. Gat tickets early. VIP for the front seats are worth every dime. We will head back... signed, A list nurse and Sexy Denim from Wisconsin's, MOM. Holy cow, this show was awesome! I've never been to an improv show and I'm glad I gave this place a shot. Another nice touch, that was pretty cool, was the cast came out to the front and said good bye to everyone when we left the venue. A small touch that just goes to show the attention to detail and the fact that they really wanted us all to enjoy the night. I'll be back with the wifie for our next date trip to Savannah. read more

Our family, a group of 8, attended Monster Comedy on 3/10/23 and we had an amazing time. We yelled out suggestions and cheered and laughed til we cried. The group operates as a seamless unit. The best is when they make each other laugh or themselves laugh. Most of our group had never been before and are so ready to go back again. We also stayed for the free show at ten and it was fun to watch the newer groups hone their skills. We left there all laughing and talking. We even interacted with the actors afterward and they are so warm and welcoming. It's the best time in town. read more

My husband and I really wanted to do something different, came across this in research. Wow am I glad I did! My husband didn't even know what improv is (as I am the comedy connoisseur) he laughed his ass off the WHOLE time. This was such a fun show, we will definitely be back. Me and a bunch of friends went here for a Saturday night show and we had a blast! I love going to comedy shows but this was my first improv experience and it was amazing! My face hurt from laughing so much! The venue is lovely, they serve beer, wine and champagne and the entire staff was so welcoming and friendly. They invite you to stay and hang out after the show too so there is no rushing you out the door. I am a Savannah local and this is a place I will continue to check out. read more

I've been to Front Porch Improv several times. The performances are so much fun. The actors engage the audience to participate and laugh a lot! It's definitely for an adult audience. The staff is very friendly as well. I even took a beginners' class there. It was reasonably priced, and we were able to put on a show that was free for the audience. The only negative I have to say is that the popcorn is lousy. read more

Best $$ I've spent in a long time for a really fun evening! All the Players were sharp-witted and played beautifully off of each other, even working with some ridiculous audience suggestions (and there were a few!). Felt good to be able to have an evening of laughter after all of the grim happenings. NOT a show for the prudish or squeamish, so come with an open mind and heart and just let go and ENJOY! Aaamazing I wish I could explain how wonderful the improvers are. You get to have a nice drink, listen to the awesome MC, and just enjoy all the outstanding talent! I have to take the Savannah for Morons tour and go to their improv show every time I visit Savannah - and I wish I could go more! it's worth every single penny you spend and you'll be talking about the show all the time! We were visitors to Savannah this past weekend and were able to make a Saturday night show, and it was great. We loved it and will go back whenever we are in Savannah. The great things: they were a welcoming group of people, their improv games were unique and not taken from other sources (like Whose Line), they were good at what they did, they were funny, the view and acoustics are great from everywhere in the audience, and they were not dependent on profanity or "raunchy" stuff to get a laugh. They did a good job of doing really good comedy. To keep in mind: This is not a show for kids, in my opinion. While they were not dependent on profanity or "raunchy" stuff to get a laugh, they were still free to be adults in front of adults. Did not bother my wife and I, but we would not have taken our kids. I hope this does not sound like a critique. It is is not. Bottom line: it is an adult improv group, so just keep that in mind. read more

My friends and I went here after seeing our first improv show in Atlanta the week before and front porch improv does not disappoint. We went to the murder mystery show, and half of it was the murder theme and the after intermission they did normal improv games which was a perfect balance of the shows I think! 10/10 would recommend! read more

We came here on a whim and didn't look at anything before going. It's not very big but the seating was done well so it didn't feel crowded ever. Beer was reasonable at $6 and they had popcorn for $3 which was great. Very clean inside. The show itself was high quality. The lights and sound system were great and the guy running it did a great job. I was impressed overall. The improv was funny and everyone was quick on their responses. Great job and a great place to go for a different than usual night out. Highly recommend it. read more

Came here with no idea what to expect on a rainy Friday night, had an absolute blast! The show was so funny and the crowd was engaged. Actors were hilarious and so friendly to the guest. Nice bar to serve beer and wine. AND the building is awesome for photo ops :) I would recommend seeing a show a million times. I'll be back ! read more

History

Established in 2015.

Front Porch Improv is Savannah's home for comedy. We put on outstanding comedy shows with a cast of talented performers. Expect completely original improv scenes and to laugh--a lot. Our cast includes graduates of the Upright Citizens Brigade in New York City, Second City in Chicago, The Groundlings in Los Angeles and Theatre 99 in Charleston--plus some exceedingly attractive homegrown talent. We also produce Savannah Comedy Fest, a yearly festival that brings top comedians from around the country.

Meet the Business Owner: John B.

John moved to Chicago to study improv at I.O. Chicago and then to New York City to study at the Upright Citizens Brigade. In 2011, he made his first appearance Off-Broadway in The Awesome 80's Prom as the D.J. He co-created a one man show, The Banana Monologues, that made it's way to the Off Broadway stage in the summer of 2013. He lives in Savannah Ga, and regularly weekly in Front Porch Improv.

I think most of their shows are 21+. It's probably best to check the description of the show on their website though. We went to a family friendly one, where they got the kids involved in the show, but it was held at the Savannah Cultural Center.

The script has great potential, but we were disappointed with the production. One actress screamed her way through the play, and the repeated knife jabbing was far too much. One actress, Andrea Frankle, was terrific in the role of Marie. The others lacked finesse and nuance in their character developments. Kudos to the set, lighting and costumer designers which were terrific. And finally, the most disappointing was from the Director. Some of staging was confusing and unnecessary, and often didn't allow the actresses to communicate well. If you are unfamiliar with the repertory theater, try them out. But for this production, I'd rate them 2.5 stars out of 5.

We bought tickets ahead of time and got there early to grab good seats and pop corn. The screen was more projector size and not a full wall movie theatre. The line to get inside and for concessions the last 15 minutes before the show started were extremely long. They also had a cute photo booth set up and I believe they were collecting donations for a charity by selling these pictures. The bathrooms were clean and the theatre was easy to navigate. For an $8 ticket, I'll for sure come back. Even if the movie is 20 years old!

The first part takes you on a trolley ride that goes around town in a trolley while hearing from a tour guide. This part definitely emphasizes on the historical parts of Savannah and it's interesting to see these sorts of buildings with a bit of narration. The 2nd half had us stop at an old building and when we walked in, we got an amazing show inside. Note that photography is not allowed during the show. Although the story was more theatrical-oriented than historical and sometimes gave a chuckle, the actors have a phenomenal performance, especially the priest narrator. Don't want to get in too much spoilers but it's entertaining to say the least. Overall, loved the unique experience of Savannah!

Both were VERY nice and the the trolly was completely in sync with the guide (reaching the destination at just the right time in the story. The Underground performance was the most unique and exciting experience we have ever had for the environment, narrator, immersive experience and the actors. VERY fun and exciting!

The highlight (or should I say lowlight for my husband's dignity) was when he received an unforgettable "lap dance"--or more accurately, a face dance. I've never seen his face turn quite that shade of red or heard him laugh so hard. It was priceless. I have tried for several weeks to contact Muse Arts Warehouse to rent it for an event. After…read moreemails, texts, voicemails, multiple phone calls and even speaking to someone in the box office I have pretty much given up. I am a patron of their space and was really hoping to use it on a repeat basis, it is a shame that such a creative space is being handled so poorly that it can't be used for actual events. I also found it amusing when I recently received an email asking for donations, I tried to give them my money and in exchange I wanted to fill the space for a night, last time I check that's how this is supposed to work. For the sake of their business they should try and fix this problem soon, even if the answer is no about renting the space they should have the professional courtesy to return communication, every time you do things like this it effects your reputation and in turn financial supporters.

I was introduced to these guys through an improv performance at a wedding reception. How cool of them to perform at a wedding and what a novel idea for the bride and groom to arrange for an improv troupe to perform at their reception. It certainly made the dinner more lively and entertaining. The group that came to perform for us included Jayme Tinti (Artistic Director), Joanna Walchuk Aprea, Wesley Pridgen, and Cydnei Prather. Jayme was the energetic host/MC and she guided us through all of the acts. I've been to several improv shows in Atlanta so I was familiar with some of the formats. What makes improv fun is the audience interaction. All of the acts performed required input from the audience. Some of the acts actually required a member of the audience to directly participate on stage (or in our case, on the wedding dance floor). Examples included an act where someone from the audience would tell the actors to instantly "change" their story throughout the act and another act where the actors sang a song about an audience member they just met and knew only a few facts about. It was funny. There were games like one actor having to guess the other actors' personas or professions (suggested by the audience). There were stories and musicals with ideas, locations, and music types suggested by the audience. Cydnei served as both an actor and a live musician. I was impressed with her musical improvisation on the keyboard. On a whim, she was able to churn out music that matched the mood of the act whether it was dramatic, lighthearted, or something else. Props to her. Overall, I thought the entire group did a fine job. They were wacky, enthusiastic, and quick to think on their feet (something I'm terrible at). Thanks for the performance!

I was pleasantly surprised at this entire experience. First we were greeted by the cast in the most special and happy way. They toured us through their space which was soooo nicely decorated. The bar had good drinks and cheap at that (we even got to vote on one to be half price after intermission). The comedy show was hysterical and the cast was super talented, always remembering what the audience said and making us feel included. They even interacted directly with the audience which was great. You could tell they loved what they did and that made it all the better. We bought the VIP seats which were a bit cozier and came with a bucket a candy. Truly just want these artists to succeed and highly recommend taking the time to stop by the Front Porch! read more

Warm, welcoming, and deeply caring, Front Porch Improv is the kind of place that wraps around you the second you arrive. It gives you a few hours to lose yourself in the art of improv, to laugh freely and fully, and sends you home feeling satiated in a way you didn't even know you needed. as a local I would say this is one of the most wonderful things happening in town. please do yourself a favor and book a ticket whether you are a resident or coming from out of town and be ready to laugh and participate. the owners are some of the loveliest people that exist and the performers are so wonderful and entertaining. great wine and beer selection. must not miss experience all around read more

My mom and I went to see Front Porch while we were visiting in Savannah. I'm so glad we went-- it was a riot! Lots of energy, laughs...and I walked away wondering how people can be so clever right off the tops of their heads.
