The Charleston Music Hall itself is a beautiful, historic venue--intimate, well-maintained, and known for hosting concerts, comedy shows, and special events. The seating is comfortable, sightlines are good, and acoustics are solid, which definitely worked in favor of the vocal performances. The singers were clearly talented and did a great job vocally--everyone sounded wonderful, and there's no denying the performers can sing. However, we personally felt that the show didn't quite feel like a full "production." It leaned heavily on straightforward singing, with limited storytelling, choreography, or theatrical elements to tie everything together. This may come down to expectations and personal preference. Growing up around Broadway shows in NYC, we're used to more dynamic, story-driven performances with larger production value, and this didn't quite meet that standard for us. While others may enjoy it for the music and holiday spirit--especially in a cozy venue like the Charleston Music Hall--we would probably not attend again, particularly considering the ticket price.

If you enjoy laughing, if you like live theatre with snacks and drinks and desserts at very reasonable prices, and if you like bonding with friendly strangers through an evening of fun and frolic, this is the place for you. (The service was excellent, too!) I'm a museum tour guide and actually love speaking in a group, so I volunteered for a part and loved doing it. Many others did, too. But my husband, and most others, did not have roles, so it's completely up to you. Do not miss this show (if you're not grumpy)!

I was amazed at the cast of FOUR and their ability to play over 130 characters and do it so artfully. The play itself was a riot, on many occasion we were laughing out loud. It was a very fast moving play so you had to pay attention but that wasn't difficult. The theater itself is very quaint. During intermission we got lucky and got to watch a young boy, who was there to watch the show, serenade everyone on the piano. We didn't arrive early enough to get drinks before the show but they allow drinks in the theater so we ordered a couple of glasses of wine and enjoyed them during the second half of the show. I had such a good time that I tried convincing my husband to go back later that week and watch the show with me again! I look forward to returning for more shows!

It's a heart felt modern comedy about good old-fashioned family drama. This was such a fun watch and lots of laughs through out the night. It's been a while since I've been to a show. Beautiful classical theatre in the heart of downtown!…read more I dragged my husband out to the musical Elf this past Sunday. Surprisingly he obliged with minimal grumbling (even for not being into shows, missing the Steeler game, AND it being a work night...double whoa)! The theatre is smaller than the ones I'm used to back home, but it made the experience seem that much more personal. There's a beautiful outside area that's open to the public, making it a perfect venue for the warmer winter nights! The only reason I'm giving it a 4 out of 5 is because the seats are a little tough to withstand for 2+ hours (however, typical of most classical art venues I've been to). Overall we had a great experience and I would highly recommend attending a show here!
