    Mango chili

I stumbled upon Front Porch Pops at the Patchworks Craft Fest in Long Beach. It was a nice beautiful sunny Sunday...and the line for something cool and refreshing was LONG! I was really hoping that these Popsicles would be like Viva Pops in San Diego. By the time we were up...they were running out of flavors quick. So my first choice of Mango/Pineapple was out, the man in front of me took the last one. So I opted for the Creamy vanilla caramel and mango chili at $2.50 a pop. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/I23PHWxHWoJjlE1R0KCEJQ?select=m59fIhwg02w2y86sKQ9MrQ#LQV5gBv-2uS2jNMtZ5Rscg I liked the mango chili, it had a nice smooth kick to it and gave that refreshing feel. The vanilla caramel was a bit too rich and creamy for my taste and very sweet. It wasn't so refreshing as I hoped. It did give a bit of a "chalky" after taste, so perhaps they use some sort of powder to make them? I'm not sure. But all in all was okay, next time I think I'll stick to the fruity flavors.

My 4-Star streak continues with Front Porch Pops! This little ice-pop stand brings back nostalgic memories for me of going to Disneyland with my parents and getting a frozen banana or a fudgesicle. Remember those? They'd give me a couple bucks (yeah, know it was a LONG time ago. Now you have to take out a mortgage to get snacks at DLand) and I'd walk up to the cart that I was barely tall enough to see over on my tippy-toes, and ask the Cast Member for a Fudgepop. I'd say, "Thanks!" and run back to my parents with the change. These pops, they bring me back to those days. They have a consistency of a really frozen custard. They're sweet and creamy. My guy and I shared the "Monkey gone to heaven" (chocolate banana). http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/I23PHWxHWoJjlE1R0KCEJQ?select=m59fIhwg02w2y86sKQ9MrQ#cen1VhJs08qBpwyjDYCbpA Their pop cart is small and unassuming: http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/I23PHWxHWoJjlE1R0KCEJQ?select=m59fIhwg02w2y86sKQ9MrQ#Ixa-jSwkXLHzDeUvuKaGJA but don't let that fool you. There's magic in them there pops!! They have a bunch of flavors too. I wish I wasn't so darned full or I would have had one of my own. Next time... next time the Orange Clove flavor is miiiiine!

Front Porch Pops where have you been all my life?!?! We had them cater my 5 year old son's birthday party and all I can say is WOW! Expectations were high to begin with but when Adam showed up with the cart the excitement grew to fever pitched with everyone starting to line up. I hoped the he could live up to the hype! Adam had the flavor board set up and people started ordering...Strawberry Lime, Creamy Vanilla Carmel, Strawberries and Cream, Blue Berry Lime, Cuckoo Coconut, Mango Pineapple, Double Chocolate with Sea Salt, OH...MY...GOD. People were literally giggling and laughing because they were ALL SO GOOD! I had adult party guests holding 3 at a time ranting and raving about how delicious they were. All good things in moderation I kept saying to my guest as I ate my 3rd pop. Needless to say it was a MAJOR HIT! Adults and Kids alike went crazy and poor Adam must have Carpal Tunnel opening and passing out so many amazing pops. They had tangy to sweet to creamy to yogurt to fudge to fruity to tart flavors and literally all were simply amazing! I have NO idea why a couple of people are giving moderate to bad reviews. There is no explanation for that except they're probably in the ice cream business themselves. How in the world could you not like an ALL NATURAL HANDMADE Popsicle? It's ICE CREAM and they complain it's too sweet?!?! (SMH). It's REAL FRUIT and they say it's too fruity?!?! It's CREAM and they say it's too creamy?!?! Really??? Rocket scientists they are not...Check yourselves please. Don't listen to the 1 or 2 misguided haters...Erin and Adam's Front Porch Pops are the REAL DEAL. I guarantee you cannot eat just one. Literally I will put money down you can't! Incredible taste and quality...You can't go wrong! As far as the party? Let's just say Adam is booked for the next 6 events from the guests that tried his stuff. Score one for the local small business owners Erin and Adam! You guys hit a GRAND SLAM! I can't recommend them enough!!!

Is it fair to give this place a review when I haven't been to the actual storefront yet? Yeah, I'll say yes to it myself. I mean, the popsicle was still consumed fair and square from them. It wasn't for a special event! Anywho, I came across Front Porch Pops (homemade popsicles!) at the SoCo Farmers' Market this past weekend by one of their carts and considering the heat that day, it was a definite must. Can I just say how impressed I was with the flavors? These weren't your regular pops. These were gourmet. These were artisanal. These were too tempting. It was hard to choose a flavor but eventually I decided on the lemon raspberry cheesecake. Duke D.'s choice was easy - he goes for cool names so the Whoa! Watermelon was his pick. My popsicle was oh-so-creamy and the flavors really came through of a cheesecake. I found the raspberry more prominent than the lemon but that was okay. It was still fabulous. The watermelon one pretty much tasted like a frozen watermelon. I'd like to drop by the store itself one day though and see what other tempting flavors await. There were way too many choices of awesome popsicles!

This evening I had the pleasure of having trying out Front Porch Pops in front of Forest Lanes in Lake Forest CA. The flavor I tried was the creamy vanilla caramel and it did not disappoint. The flavors were unmistakably caramel in flavor and is perfect on a pre-autumn evening like tonight. I look forward to trying the other flavors!

Definitely worth the money. Tried the dark chocolate sea salt pop at Catalyst West. Best fudgsicle I've ever had. Only $3. Would have paid more. Will go back for more later! Many other flavors that look interesting.

The plus side this time around is that they have a completely covered area to eat your food. Picnic benches are laid out with a full awning. Parking is still great. Prices have gone up for both the tickets and parking so be prepared to pay $15 for parking and $15 to get inside. However, the admission fees, parking fees, OUTRAGEOUS costs for food and drinks (spent over $200), was just over the top for us. I knew going in that we were going to splurge a little, however, the cost of some of these food items were INSANE. Truly, some of the best bites was the Birria Eggroll and the Alligator Bites, probably the couple of the cheapest things I bought! The Mango Ube Sticky Rice was also delicious. We also did the silly thing of buying the $30 baby bottle filled with Mango Pineapple Lemonade. It was yummy, and yes, the product itself is silly, but VERY cheap in that the top cracked and eventually was spilling on us throughout the day. We had to eventually throw it away; $30 in the trash. Luckily, we did the smart thing by arriving at 4:00pm (gates opened at 3:00pm) and we left by 8:00pm. Seeing the place fill up and the lines after leaving was shocking! We did not have to wait more than 15 minutes at any food vendor booth. I have read nothing but disappointment from frequent 626 Night Market attendees in the raising costs and mediocre food. I was not super impressed. There were plenty of vendors and I am in support of small businesses, but once again, VERY overpriced. Plus, we came strictly to try the foods. Thanks for the memories, but I will gladly be taking my $200+ for a much better dining experience elsewhere.
