    Banana ice cream

First time visiting FILO Desert in Downtown Orange, and we're so glad we stopped by! The shop has such a cool vibe -- it almost felt like a charming two-story ice cream spot with a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. The owner was incredibly kind and welcoming. We were told she runs the whole shop by herself, and you can truly see how hardworking and passionate she is about what she does. She happily let us try several flavors, and every single one was excellent. The star of the night for us was definitely the Nila Banana ice cream -- absolutely delicious and full of flavor! Their Kunafe paired with ice cream was also next level and such a unique, tasty combination. Everything we tried was amazing, and the experience made it even better. Highly recommend this spot to anyone in the area looking for great desserts and ice cream. We'll definitely be coming back!

I love the ice cream at Filo and have wanted to try their knafeh since the first time we visited. After lunch today we walked over and got one to share. We had never had knafeh before, and weren't sure exactly what to expect since it's a cheesy dessert. We were VERY impressed and will come back for it again! It's a crispy, flakey dough, with a mild, somewhat salty, stringy cheese inside, covered with simple syrup and pistachios. LOVED IT. Since we were pretty full from lunch, we only ate half and took the rest home. The guy who helped us said to reheat it in the oven for a few minutes. I think we will be doing that tonight after dinner. I'm so happy Filo isn't too far from us, it's a great little shop with pretty ambiance, sweet workers, and delicious desserts & coffee.

I was actually blown away by the dessert here. As soon as you walk in and see the display case you can see the thought and intention that was put in to showcase their desserts and the delicacy of it. I ordered a boozlava and it was the perfect size for sharing between two people. To me it was a twist on a traditional baklava. The top was a thin crisp layer of filo pastry topped with pistachios. The entire dessert was crispy, creamy, nutty and delicious. The lady working was also really kind. She let us sample the different ice cream flavors, which are all great by the way. Couldn't recommend this place enough.

Great variety of ice cream flavors in a space decorated with Turkish tiles. We were there when it was relatively empty, so the person working was really patient in letting us try out flavors. The crunchy baklava ice cream was delicious. While the ice cream flavor itself was plain, the baklava throughout added that extra bit of sweetness and texture that made it so good.

This has become my go-to spot for Mediterranean desserts. Parking is conveniently located behind the building. Having lived in the Middle East for over five years, I sometimes really miss authentic flavors--and I'm so grateful to have found this place. The shop itself is small, but there's a second-floor seating area that offers a bit more space. I usually come for their homemade ice cream or their Knafooza--a crispy kunefe topped with your choice of ice cream. You can choose whether or not to have syrup on the kunefe, and extra syrup is available at the table if you want a little more sweetness. The staff are always incredibly friendly and hospitable, which makes the experience even better. Highly recommended if you're in the area!

My wife introduced me to this fantastic dessert spot in Downtown Orange, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. We ordered the Knafooza and the Boozalava with pistachio ice cream to share, and both were exceptional. The standout for us was the Knafooza. The kunafa was served warm, perfectly soft and gooey, with a balanced sweetness that didn't overpower the dish. The pistachio ice cream was smooth, rich, and subtly sweet -- a perfect complement that elevated every bite. The combination of warm pastry and cold, creamy ice cream was spot on. Service was attentive and friendly, and there was plenty of seating, making it easy to relax and enjoy our desserts without feeling rushed. Everything tasted fresh and thoughtfully crafted. It was indulgent without being heavy, and we're already looking forward to coming back to explore more of the menu.

A lovely dessert shop featuring Middle Eastern to explore their traditional and fusion items. I had: 1. Affogato 2. Lazy cake - chocolate 3. Saffron ice cream

Wow. So so good. Definitely coming back and want to try more of the menu. Got a crispy knafeh and it was delicious. Vibe is so cute and cozy with seating downstairs and upstairs.

Came by here today right when they opened at noon. Tried some flavors and ended up getting 1) lotus biscoff - kinda too sweet but you'll like if you enjoy biscoff cookies 2) antep pistachio - this is a must get! So good All are hand crafted and creamy. We got the $9.95 for 2 scoops.

So unique I've never had anything like this before. The biscoff ice cream was so yummy and the Knafeh was crispy and cheesy on the inside. Place is right in old towne orange which is right by where I went to undergrad so the area is nostalgic.

Affogato with Lavendar ice cream and double scoop of lotus Biscoff and Istanbul Coffee from their upstairs loft seating area.
    Flo M.

Heard a lot about the coffee and desserts so tried both. The ice cream flavors are unique and some flavors are subtle (like the Lulu Lavendar or Lotus Biscoff) and others are more bold (the Istanbul Coffee. They weren't too sweet and also very rich in texture and taste. The is bright and colorful inside and there is a small upstairs loft area that has great seating. It faces the street toward Chapman, so there is street parking and a little walk from some public lots but there is payment now for parking.

Very cute ambiance and great after lunch or dinner place!! The dessert were good but very sweet. If that meets your flavor profile it will work for you. I'd go back for the unique flavored ice cream.

Review 88/365 Day Challenge Came here after a nightcap from a girls birthday dinner celebration. A mama friend of ours discovered this ice cream shop and wanted to bring us here since she was a fan. 05.31.25 The Ice cream was creamy and not overly sweet along with distinctive unique flavors. They also sell teas/coffees, baklavas and other desserts here including Dubai chocolate. They have pre packed pints of ice cream available to purchase. Associates were nice and they have ice cream Sampling. The ice cream/dessert shop is beautifully decorated. Has a few table indoor and upstairs. Seems really cozy and welcoming vibe. Love the hanging greenery's & wall has design on them. Located in the Orange Circle. We came around 10:40 p.m. 20 mins before closing at 11 p.m. was lucky to get parking right in front of the ice cream shop.

For two, we ordered the "individual portions" of Mandi Chicken (young chicken roasted with Yemeni spices) & Lalamb Haneeth (a roasted young lamb that falls off the bone). These were both served over a large platter of Mandi rice and came with Yemeni sauce and yogurt. It was expertly made, yet still gave us the warmth of a homestyle meal. The generous portions resulted in a second meal for me! On a Tuesday night, this place was quite packed with friends and families. It seems like wonderful place to host parties or business meetings. Someone nearby us had a birthday, and a group of staff came out with a dessert, blasting a traditional birthday song over the speakers and encouraged the whole restaurant to clap along! Despite the large gatherings, the restaurant is a no-reservation spot. They have a covered patio outside to seat an overflow of customers in case. Thankfully, my boyfriend and I were seated right away. They had a contactless menu, and we scanned a QR code to check our food options, but a server took our order and offered great recommendations once we waved him down. I would love to come back and try other dishes, like their grilled chicken or lamb--as well as the desserts and teas !!

I don't like writing bad reviews for small businesses, but we were almost SCAMMED. 1. It was so hard to get the servers' attention, even when pressing the ringer button at our table. They completely ignore the ringing sound every single time. 2. We had to ask for basic things that should have been provided already before we asked. They served us the salad without any utensils or plates. We had to ask for the sauces that were explicitly written were part of our meal. And every single time we had to ask, we NEVER received an apology. 3. This was the last straw cuz at this point, it felt like we were being targeted. They charged us for an extra lamb dish that costed more than any of the dishes we ordered. When we brought this up, NO APOLOGY.

As somebody born in Iraq and raised around real Arabic food in Dearborn, Michigan. Yes you guys met…read morea real Arab! this place was honestly offensive. I know exactly what authentic Middle Eastern food tastes like, smells like, and looks like. This was not it. This felt like recycled cafeteria food dressed up for people who have never had the real thing. For almost $65, I genuinely felt robbed. Everything tasted old, aged, reheated, and low effort. Nothing had freshness, brightness, or quality behind it. Real hummus is supposed to be balanced between chickpeas, tahini, lemon, garlic, and olive oil. Even food writers and traditional recipes describe hummus as a smooth blend where the chickpeas are the foundation and the tahini supports the flavor -- not the other way around. Apparently this restaurant never got that memo because I'm pretty sure they accidentally served me a bowl of straight tahini and forgot the hummus entirely. I thought chickpeas were one of the cheapest ingredients on earth, but somehow they managed to make hummus without any actual chickpea flavor. It was bitter, muddy, heavy, and completely drowned in sesame paste. Whoever made it must've been in a personal blood feud with olive oil and lemon juice too. The fattoush was an absolute disaster. Real fattoush is supposed to have freshness, herbs, vegetables, citrus, and crispy pita with texture and balance. What I got was a depressing garden salad tossed in cheap dressing with pita chips fried so hard and soaked in old oil that they were basically edible roofing shingles. I love pita chips, but these things were NOT brittle like glass. I felt like I was eating hardened gummy bread. I genuinely thought I was going to crack a tooth. They tasted like stale fried scraps reheated over and over again until all flavor and dignity left them. The tabouli somehow had even less life in it. No brightness. No freshness. No clean parsley flavor. It tasted like it was prepared months ago and forgotten in a refrigerator. Even the pita bread was stale. STALE. That alone tells me everything I need to know about the kitchen. Any real Middle Eastern restaurant knows fresh bread is sacred. " How dare you people!" Then to top it all off, the attitude was horrible. Cold, dismissive service from people acting annoyed that customers even exist. The overall cleanliness and presentation of the restaurant honestly made the entire experience worse. Besides the young girl working she's the one star for my review. California desperately needs to stop letting places like this claim they serve "authentic" middle eastern food. This is the kind of place that survives off hype, location, and customers who simply do not know better. If you grew up eating real Iraqi, Lebanese, Syrian, or Dearborn-style food, you will immediately know something is wrong here. I left overcharged, disappointed, and honestly feeling sick afterward. One of the worst Mediterranean food experiences I've ever had.

Cairo Restaurant & Cafe - Anaheim Rating: (5/5)…read more I ordered from Cairo Restaurant & Cafe through Uber Eats, and this ended up being one of the most meaningful food experiences I've had in a long time. For context, I come from Egyptian heritage. I'm first-generation American, and both of my parents grew up in Cairo. The dishes I ordered -- Hawashy as an appetizer and Makaroni Bechamel (Bashmil) casserole -- are foods I grew up with. The last time I had this exact meal cooked for me by my mother was several years ago, so placing this order felt like a gamble, especially with the restaurant being all the way in Anaheim while I live in Irvine. That gamble paid off immediately. From the very first bite, the food tasted unmistakably authentic. The hawashy was deeply seasoned, rich, and comforting -- exactly how it's supposed to be, not watered down or adjusted for convenience. The makaroni bechamel was the real emotional gut punch in the best way possible. Creamy, savory, perfectly spiced, and layered the way it's done back home. It tasted like something made with care, patience, and respect for the dish. I'm not exaggerating when I say this meal hit me hard. After one bite, I literally called the restaurant just to thank them. I asked to speak to the manager and told him what this meal meant to me -- how it tasted like something my own mother would make, how it brought back memories I didn't realize I'd been missing. That call wasn't planned. It was instinctive. Huge shout-out to Zayne, the manager, who was incredibly kind and generous on the phone. He even sent along kunafa for dessert, which was the perfect ending to the meal -- warm, sweet, and beautifully made. Beyond the food itself, the packaging deserves real praise. Everything arrived hot, which is not easy, especially for a casserole like makaroni bechamel. Once that dish cools too much, it loses something important. This didn't. It arrived as if it had just come out of the oven, which speaks volumes about the care taken in preparing orders for delivery. This is not a 5-star review because of nostalgia or heritage alone. It's a 5-star review because the food was genuinely outstanding -- rich, decadent, comforting, and made the right way. It is very hard for me to say that something compares to my mother's cooking, but this truly came close. I cannot wait to come in person in the next few weeks. Cairo Restaurant & Cafe didn't just serve food -- they delivered a memory.
