I did it for the kids!!! Been wanting to try this for months and finally was in the area and it worked out where we found a parking down the street across the street parallel to the curb. Literally like a Disneyland ride line. As we saw the line we got overwhelmed and almost turned around but asked someone who was just leaving with their dessert how long the wait was and they quoted "20 minutes." We actually waited 40. Glad we did vs ordering for pick up online because once we got to the window the magic started where the staff offered samples and flavor suggestion. I went with mango joe Lati and loved my choice. The frozen custard on top was my favorite part with the mango and the vanilla soft serve underneath. Tasted like my childhood fave orange creamsicle aka half and half bar. My hubby liked the cherry Italian and sons liked their blue Hawaiian and strawberry and creams Joe lati to go (came with cap so I can transport home). Next time will definitely order for pick up at the website & obtain at the window-/ there's a staff at the window to point you in the right direction. There are a couple restrooms for customer use. Iconic Italian Ice shop has been here for 24 years. The decor has vibrant colors, the hand painted murals resemble a 50s diner. I came by on a hot Summer day, the flavor on Monday was Cherry Cola, not many places sell this flavor, I was happy to go with the flavor of the day. This was my first time at Joe's, I decided to order the Joe-latti. It is a combination of Italian ice topped with their creamy vanilla soft serve ice cream. I must return for the Pineapple Dole flavor, it's my favorite icee. There was a long line, but it moved reasonably quick. An automated voice will announce when the next cashier's window is open. What a great place to go for a cool refreshing treat on a hot summer day. The lines are usually crazy long and snake around the sidewalk and parking lot, but the team here are quick in taking your order and preparing your dessert. There are different flavors of the day every day as well as their normal staple items. Today, I got the Peaches and Cream Joe Latti. So, so delicious! It's a decadent and loved dessert and I can only barely finish a regular sized one. Couldn't imagine trying to finish the larger sizes. But, one day, I'm gonna have to try and accept the challenge. Totally not worth the hype. We waited 45 minutes for this ice. Thankfully it wasn't hot out because if it was I would never have. We got to the front and once we got there they had it very organized. They had numerous windows to help runners to help get the ice, but for it being so popular they needed more staff. We got one ice and one gelati. The ice was so strong, as if drinking the syrup strong. We got the cherry and it was inedible from the syrup. I recently was in the area and had Joe's Italian ice for the very first time. My friend who lives in the neighborhood says that there are cars and people lined up all the way down the block for this. So of course I was very excited to try it. There was a line of cars waiting to get in, but it looked pretty organized outside. The line to order at the walk of window wasn't bad at all. I think there were about 20 people ahead of me and 10 windows open, so we didn't wait long at all. Also, this place looks so cool. It's right on a busy street, there are tables outside to sit and eat as well. The decoration, is fun and vibrant, perfect for an ice cream joint. It gave off a lot of vintage vibes. I really liked the merch that they had. The cashier was super cool and really nice. I told him it was my first time and I wanted to experience their signature ice cream. He recommended the Joe Latti, which has a soft serve base (so creamy), with Italian ice and more soft serve to top it off. My friend got the mango and I got the strawberry. This strawberry, hands-down is the way to go! They both were great, but definitely the strawberry is my favorite. They also have cherry. It taste like a creamsicle of whichever Italian ice you decide. I don't recommend the Italian ice by itself because it taste very sweet and sugary, like you know it's ice doused in syrups which is why the custard is a nice balance of creamy to ease that sugary taste. This is a blend of Italian ice and an ice cream. I got the lemon and tangomango flavor. It is absolutely delicious. Flavors are clear and one flavor doesn't take over another though. I'm sure that's possible with some of the other flavors It is worth the wait in line and they give a 4% discount if you use cash. Today was a warm day so this was an excellent time to try Joe's Italian ice. I highly recommend if you're in Anaheim, for whatever reason, do stop at Joe"s Italian ice and sample the flavors. The prices, surprisingly, are very reasonable despite its proximity to Disneyland and the elevated cost in that area. The line does move slowly, but that is expected and well made up for by the absolute treat that you get once your order has been handed to you. They do not have an indoor space so this is an all window service. The servers are quick, kind, and helpful. I found the experience quite nice. My only reservation is for those who have a type of disability . The wait can be pressing or taxing if the line or order being placed is long or complex. The building is filled with nostalgic pictures and images of Route 66 other images from time's past; old bicycles anchored to the building, a mailbox, and an eagle atop the building. They post a lot on Instagram about their Flavor of the Day, so we planned our visit around a specific flavor they announced a week in advance. Before we even got in the long line, I checked their Instagram one last time to make sure there weren't any updates saying it had sold out. There weren't. After waiting all that time, we got to the front and were told the flavor had actually been sold out for hours. If that's the case, why wasn't your Instagram updated? People make the trip specifically for the flavors you advertise. Instead, we wasted our time standing in line for something that wasn't even available, and you almost feel obligated to buy something else just to make the wait feel worth it. I usually get the strawberry Joelati (strawberry Italian ice with vanilla ice cream). It's usually on the daily flavors menu. They have many flavors available for Italian ice and usually have a sugar free option as well; you will see the day's available flavors on the tv screens once you get to the storefront. If you're really keen on getting a certain flavor of Italian ice, you can visit their website for the flavors of the day prior to making your trip out there. The parking isn't very great but they do try to mediate that with workers out on the lot during busy times directing traffic. I recently tried the orange dreamcicle and it goes great with the ice cream. Joes also has other sweet treats like cones, splits, floats and shakes. Definitely a must try if you're in the area! All dogs eat free at Joe's as well so if you're bringing your furry family members, they can get a treat as well. Outdoor seating available on a first come first serve basis.
