I'm out of town, like usual, and I decided that I wanted to grab a burger. I turned to Yelp to help me find the best burger in the area and Yelp did not let me down! I went to Front Street Brewery and got the American Burger. That was a great decision. I had a very long road trip to get to this destination and I wanted to grab something to assist me unwind. I grabbed the FSB Old Fashioned to start and the American Burger to go. The Old Fashioned was amazing! The cocktail brought some serious flavor! They boast about having the largest selection of whiskey and from the looks of the bar, I believe them! The burger was nothing short of spectacular. It was two smash burgers with American cheese, lettuce, pickles, onions, and tomatoes. The price was great for the flavor that I received. This was a great way to start my trip. Stopped by here with my daughter and some of her friends for lunch. I don't think they take reservations. We had about a 45 minute wait for a table of 6 which was understandable as it was pretty busy at noon on Thursday. Drinks came quickly as we were seated. Appetizers were hit or miss. Fried pickles were surprisingly good and I'm not a pickle fan. However the pretzel was disappointing. Food was comparable to what you would find at other pubs. My smash burger was fantastic. We did have one issue where the vegetarian in our group got served a chicken bowl by accident. However they quickly remedied it and got him what he ordered ASAP. Unfortunately we were mostly done by the time his food came. They did comp the food that was late which was nice. Went to Front St Brewing on a nice Friday night and sat at the bar to watch the Knicks game. The beers are decent, lot of different styles and cocktails for those not into the beer scene. The highlight of this place for me was the food. I got the Fish and Chips while my wife got the American burger. Fish and chips was some of the best I've had recently, perfectly good size breaded piece of haddock that was crispy and delicious with every bite, fries were also on par. My wife loved her burger which I also had a couple bites of. Seasoned beautifully and she keeps talking about the tomato cucumber salad she had as a side. Came here on a Wednesday afternoon. Place was medium busy. The place was very cool, an outside seating with a sick entrance. Inside was a small brewery to the left and bar tot eh right, very rustic interior. We sat upstairs, the bartender was our waitress and came up with menus. The food menu and beer menu was extensive. There was also a. Happy hour from 2-5 menu that had cheaper options but it was 12 pm for us. I got the fish and chips, substituted mashed potatoes instead of the coleslaw. The fish was really tasty, and paired well with the sauce, it seemed like it was recently caught. The fires were also very nice with whatever seasoning they used. The mashed potatoes were good. My sister and I stopped in this spot right on the main drag in downtown Wilmington for shrimp and grits (me) and fish and chips (her). She said her fries were cold, but that her fish was excellent. Looked like cod to me. Mine was interesting. The grits were grit cakes. They needed salt, but other than that, it was good. Good amount of shrimp and a tasty sauce. I've been here a few times now and each time the food has been really good. The staff is very friendly and personable. I like seating both inside and outside and there's a mixture of types. They are prompt and I haven't had any issues yet with waiting long for drinks, food the check etc. it's clean and it's always busy. Yet you don't feel like you are waiting too long. Inside Vibe reminds me of a downtown nyc bar that I used to hang at for happy hour back in the day yet outside it's casual friendly and no one is on top of you. Sound inside is moderate. Parking in street with meters or in the various lots all around. There's also a parking garage off market very closely if preferred. Smash burgers are delicious. I had mine with marinated cucumber salad and homemade chips. Our friends had different things like nachos, grilled chicken over a salad, wings etc. No one had complaints. Front Street Brewery is near the corner of N Front Street and Market Street, about a block from the Cape Fear River. I went on a fairly warm day and chose to sit outside with our dogs. Before worrying about the humans, the staff immediately asked if it was okay to bring a bowl of water for the dogs. That was really nice of them. I had the beer batter fish and chips with a pint of their original pilsner. The fish batter perfectly coated the fish and was fried just right. There were no soggy, oily spots and no spots that still tasted like batter. The ice-cold pilsner added a nice, light flavor on a warm day. Although we were sitting outside, we were not forgotten. Our seats were comfortable. Our waitress greeted us in a short amount time and offered menu recommendations when asked. I ordered the chicken tender plate. Such a sweet and fun person that made us all smile! The restaurant was set up like a nice pub with views of the brewing process. We ordered some beer as well as the pretzel with mustard and queso on the side. As you can see from the pic, the pretzel was delicious! Barely got a picture! For dinner my vegetarian friend had the roasted portabello pita and said it was delicious and filling. She loved that there were several veg/vegan options on the menu. Because everywhere was so busy and long wait times were over an hour we were glad to find Front Street. We only waited approximately 30 minutes and we shopped to the close by stores until they texted us. We were thankful to be sitting upstairs in the back because it was a little loud but not really any louder than any other brewery style restaurant. My wife is amazing at finding places for us to eat and explore. We knew we had guests visiting us that wanted to check out Wilmington. She did her research and found this place as one of our options to eat. We were exploring the historic downtown area of Wilmington and decided to grab some food. My wife checked her research and this place was very close. We walked to Front Street Brewery and entered the historic building. The brewery began producing craft beer in 1995 at this location that had previously sat vacant from 1982 until 1994. The location had many lives. It began as a dry goods store in 1865, was at one point the largest carpet store in the state. It once had a dentist office, sold suits, musical instruments and was a men's clothing store. It was not too busy and we were seated right away in a booth. We were provided menus and offered drinks. They have a full bar specializing in bourbon and they brew their own nice selection of beer. We all wanted water but I added a Port City IPA. Our server Ryan was awesome and helped us navigate the menu as we made our selections. We decided on a few appetizers, the beer nuggets with both queso and marinara and also the brewery soft pretzel with queso. When Ryan returned we placed our orders. Our table of four ordered the following: shrimp and grits, the American burger, the pimento burger and the shrimp plate. Our appetizers arrived in a timely manner and while the pretzel was good, the beer nuggets were amazing! Our entrees arrived a short time later and also looked delicious! We all enjoyed our selections and thought the portions were generous as well. After our meal, we went to look at their beer to go and swag. My wife and I thought the building itself was spectacular and we inquired about the tap room upstairs and Ryan offered to take us on a short tour. He told us the third floor tap room is primarily used as an event space but opens on the weekends as well. We could easily see how this would work very well as both a private event space and overflow for busy weekends. The second floor mezzanine is impressive as well and offers fantastic views of the first floor. Overall, this was a fabulous experience. The service, the food and the environment was top notch. We've been here several times after moving in the military and back here in NC again. This is one of our all-time favorite places to come and enjoy some really good food! The bar is filled with spirits of all kinds as well as the beer phew so there is something to please everyone's palate. They are kid friendly along with a kid menu. The ambience is laid back and a lot of history in this area as well as the building here. The food is delicious I love the burgers and the nachos I got omg dang delicious and it's actually a meal pair it with a nice beer and you are good! We came here toward the end of the night. We were seated with outdoor seating. They have 4 picnic tables setup for outdoor seating (maybe 5). The tables next to the Irish Pub were not as great - it's by an alley and the smoke from the the smokers at the pub was a bit much. But we were able to move to a better spot and that was all taken car of.
