My husband and I will never fly this airline again. The tickets were booked on Priceline, and we never received any confirmation number from the airline, so when we went online to check in for our flight, we were unable to (the confirmation code from Priceline apparently was no good and nothing from the website or emails we received gave us the correct code). I ended up calling Frontier airline's customer service and was connected to a person who spoke such horrible English I could barely understand them. It took forever for them to produce a confirmation number for us and in order to do so they asked for our names, flight origin/destination, flight number, scheduled time of departure, address, Priceline confirmation numbers, the last four of our social security numbers, the last 4 digits of the credit card the tickets were booked with, etc. I understand they wanted to make sure our identity was confirmed, but holy cow, that was ridiculous and about a half hour of our lives wasted just so we could CHECK IN ONLINE and PAY FOR OUR LUGGAGE!
Unlike some other reviewers, everybody on the crew from our flight from Chicago to Tampa was pleasant. We did not encounter any rudeness or anything of the sort, but that does not mean we enjoyed our flight. I laugh at how this is touted as a "low cost/budget airline." If you are an average traveler, you will not save any money with this airline and may end up spending more in the long run. The tickets for this airline were roughly $50 cheaper than other airlines when we booked them, however, Frontier will nickle and dime you at every turn. If you save $100 dollars on tickets for two people, but each person has a checked bag and a carry on bag, you will pay about $35 (or more) for each. So 4 x $35 is $140. If you pick your seats, that is $17 a piece (or more) and if you each get a snack and a drink in flight, that is $9. You may pay $183 in fees before and while you fly, and I am being conservative about price. God forbid you wait and realize later that your carry on isn't small enough to be called a "personal item."
Even if you each check a bag and pay at bare minimum $35 for each, let them choose your seats, and not bring a carry on or have any snacks or drinks in flight and save a few bucks, your flight will most assuredly be uncomfortable. Unless you paid the carry on fee, you are forbidden from using the overhead bins and must put everything under the seat in front of you. They were practically empty on our flight. My husband and I hurt after sitting in seats that do not recline even a measly two inches and are hardly padded in any way for several hours. There are no amenities at all on the plane. The tray table is about 7 inches long and about 5 inches wide. You can hardly set anything on it at all. Not that it will matter; you won't even get a drink of water or a bag of old peanuts for free. I wouldn't be surprised if they started charging to use the toilet soon. There is no wi-fi, no in-flight movies, nothing. Our flight landed roughly half an hour early...then we had to sit on the tarmac for that half hour because we couldn't get to a gate. I think we ended up getting to the gate about five minutes late when it was all said and done!
I seriously do not understand why an airline charges you for a carry on bag or has such uncomfortable seats...well, actually I do get it, but I don't agree with it. The baggage fee is a way to rip you off and make up for the money you saved flying their airline in the first place. They claim they have no amenities on the planes to "pass the savings on to you!" Gee, thanks for that, Frontier! I'm so happy that you cheaped out on your plane furnishings so that I could save a few dollars and have a sore a$$ for the duration of my flight! The fact that you decline to spend a few bucks to install in-flight wi-fi certainly improves my flight experience (I see this as a money making opportunity; you technically are missing out!), as does the fact that you will charge me $2.00 for a can of Coke (a case of Coke costs about $4...so sell all 12 cans and you have increased your profit on that by 600%!). I would rather pay a few more dollars or at least break even and have a seat with padding, be able to lean back a few inches, have a tray table large enough to set a tablet on that I can connect to wi-fi, get a free carry on bag, and get handed a free Coke on the way. read more
