I have received texts and voicemails from this practice repeatedly despite never having been a patient. I have responded politely the first three times knowing that someone has transposed my phone number. Having worked in Health Care I grasp that their real patient very likely is not receiving appt reminders nor test results because their messaging system called " Klara" which is a combo of software and AI is glitching due to an input error. I have left texts, left voicemails and spoken to office personnel, one of whom told me the practice was having issues with messages going to folks other than their patients. This person attempted to tell me that one of their patients and myself shared the same phone number and that their patient was ignoring messages which is why I got messages despite not being a patient. I tried to tell them that in the US two different individuals don't have identical phone numbers while living in different states. I would be cautious about using this practice until they straighten out their medical records and messaging system. read more

Very disappointed in the business practices of this office. I had Covid prior to my appointment. By the time my appointment came around I had been testing negative, I had no fever, I had completed a round of Paxlovid, and had improving symptoms (no longer suggested to isolate per CDC recommendations). Out of respect, I contacted the office just to make sure the provider was comfortable seeing me. They told me they were going to have to cancel my appointment. I was surprised and disappointed but respected her comfort level and rescheduled. A couple of days later I received a letter letting me know that the late cancellation of my appointment was $100 but, out of courtesy, they were going to go ahead and waive the fee. I called the office and left a message and also messaged through the portal asking for a call back because I was hoping this was an oversight and they didn't actually think I was responsible for a same day cancel but nobody called me back for two days. I then messaged asking that all my remaining appointments be cancelled. THEN I got a message doubling down on how a same day cancellation was against their policy and they didn't acknowledge that they are the ones that cancelled despite me being outside any isolation window per CDC. I am an RN and would never go to any appointment if I thought I was contagious but I do know everyone has a different comfort level which prompted me to contact them at all. Needless to say I will not be going in for the multiple appointments I had planned nor will my daughter who was going to also go for a laser hair removal consult. I will be heading across the border for more professional and less expensive laser treatment and won't be recommending this business to anyone. read more

So I'm a transplant recipient about 4 years ago and was diagnosed with liver cancer recently. I've told by my team that I have to see a Dermatologist every year. I chose this one. It's that time again so I called for an appointment. I explained my situation and ask for an appointment. I was asked if I was concerned with any issues. My response was that I wasn't sure. Their response was because of the Governor's mandates I would have to wait till February 2021, 2 months way. People call to get appointments for a reason not to be told you are not important enough to be seen. Doctors are supposed to prove de medical attention for those who request it, in a timely manner. People can die from things they don't know they have. Hope you're good enough if you call for an appointment because I won't utilize this business or medical team again. Good luck. read more

I had been seeing /treated by another local dermatologist and switched to Dr. Dank as recommended by my husband (who hadn't seen him in many years). Dr. Dank is a good guy. Bonus: he even remembered the conversation we were having a month ago! Now when does that happen?! He explained everything before he did it. He also explained WHY he did what he did and why he didn't do what he didn't do . I really value that he took the time and valued me as a patient enough to do this. His assistant, Hailey was also professional, polite and friendly. The restroom is about as clean as I have seen anywhere in this town :) Front desk/receptionist very detail oriented! Last week I had my initial appointment at this office with Dr. Hecht and I'm a believer! The visit started very nicely with Desirée, the medical assistant who brought me back into the examination. She was fun and pleasant. It only got better when Dr. Hecht came in to find out about my skin issues, examine me, and provide medical advice. She was super nice, compassionate (you know how some doctors seem bored that you're even there? Well she was the opposite), and able to explain all my different issues in layman's terms that I could grasp. She paid attention to my concerns and offered practical strategies and advice, some of which no previous dermatologist had shared with me. In short, I cannot recommend Dr. Hecht more highly, she is fantastic! read more

Terrible experience with this medical practice over a two-month period! Hard to get in touch with staff, calls go to voicemail and there was a long wait at my appointment time. Dr Hecht accepted me as a new patient, said she would do the procedure and took my $125. The next day, the staff said she was not accepting new patients and wanted to pass me off to a PA for my procedure. I asked for a refund and was then told it was a staff error and the Dr was taking new patients. I made an appointment for the procedure and made arrangements in my schedule to attend. I received a voicemail several weeks later that my appointment was cancelled, the Dr was not taking new patients and they rescheduled me at a time that did not work for me with the PA. At this point I had lost all confidence in Dr Hecht and the staff and respectfully requested a refund so I could go to a different Dr. My request was denied. Oof, don't go there! read more

I came in to have a mole and facial malasma checked out. I had unsuccessfully tried all of the over the counter creams in attempt to lighten my malasma. Dr. Gilbert and his staff are very friendly and were able to provide an effective cream to lighten my malasma. It's nice that they recommend products that they have stocked and information regarding other vendor options. This is the first experience I've had with a dermatologist. I called to set an appointment and they told me I had to get a referral, so after a month of waiting for the soonest appointment for my dr I got the referral sent over. I called and they said it would still take 3-4 weeks to process, fine. They said they would call me as soon as it's in. It has been 9 weeks and I tried to call to see what's going on, I even confirmed with my dr that it was definitely sent to them. None of their numbers I can find work!! The gal at the front desk seemed to be having a personally challenging day, however, the rest of the clinical staff was exceptional. I've connected with this practice in the past, and have found them to be very hospitable professionals, which I think is a reflection of the practice's administrator. The MA assigned to my visit was welcoming, a strong active-listener, and on-point with the anticipated needs of the provider. My provider, Debbie, demonstrated compassion, professionalism, and is highly experienced. There was a lot of information that was a bit rushed however we went over it more than once and I felt confident that I knew the plan moving forward. They aggressively treated my wife without a biopsy. After all the trauma they caused her, everything turned out to be benign. Trouble is, they caused her an extreme amount of discomfort and unnecessary pain attempting to treat a problem they only suspected to exist. This was upsetting to me, as her husband, but the final blow was how they over billed the insurance company. My wife went in for a wound assessment appointment (an unnecessary wound due to mistreatment) and they claimed that they had a consultation, discussed alternative treatment, and looked at problem areas. None of this ever happened. They saw that we had great insurance and took advantage of the situation. If you have any issues regarding your skin, please seek out another provider that cares about you and not how much they can take you or your insurance company for. To wrap it up, if you are looking for a doctor that wants to help you, don't go here. read more

I had scheduled a new patient consultation, and after 15 minutes of waiting, I let the receptionist know that I needed to be back to work and was not going to have time for the appointment. She informed me that the provider would be 5 more minutes. They obviously don't value clients' time because they never apologized; it just seems like the norm to make patients wait for 20 minutes past their appointment time. On top of that, the receptionist with short brown hair was unfriendly and borderline rude- so much so, that it was actually kind of uncomfortable. She never once smiled, and had a very icy demeanor. Dr. Dank impresses me as knowledgable and thorough. I especially like that he takes a wide interest in one's overall skin health, noticing and addressing assorted issues, apart from the specific reason for the visit. This is good, and in contrast to Dr. Gilbert, in my experience. Dank's downside is that speech comes out of his mouth like water from a firehose. Last appointment, he swept into the room with a good morning, followed by a stream of blather that continued non-stop as he turned away to wash his hands. It was a minute or more before I broke in to return the greeting, hoping to make a point. Occasionally, I had to work to penetrate this wall of talk to get my medical concerns expressed and acknowledged, which should have been the first order of business. There's too much reliance on the cursory summation given in the pre-interview with the nurse, and much is lost in that translation. Dank is didactic and supercilious and needs to listen more. But I think he is a good caregiver. read more

I had a facial at DLCNW from the aesthetician Melodie. She was friendly and nice, but It was a below-average facial. In addition, the extractions were exceedingly painful. They were so painful, I had trouble not wincing and pulling back from her because of the pain. There was one spot on the side of my nose up toward the bridge where she made a red wound that took about 5 days to heal. I've had a lot of facials all over the world, and I've never had anyone cause a wound like that and so much pain. If the facial had been spectacular, the pain may have been worth it, but as I said, it was a mediocre facial. read more

My first visit to Determatology and Laser Center NW was a positive one. The staff were friendly and helpful when I had questions. The dermatologist was thorough and took the time to explain the determatology vocabulary so that I knew what she was referring to. The only thing I would have loved more of was written information to take home. As there were so many different words and names talked about, it would have helped to have more of these written down for me to remember. Other than that, I am pleased with the visit and will be happy to go again. read more

If you purchase any of the skin care products offered at this office, BEWARE! My young adult daughter purchased three very pricey, full size products after an appointment with the esthetician. After three applications it was clear she had a chemical burn from them on her face. She discontinued use. She called the office to inquire about a return and refund for the product and was told NO to both!! All sales are final. This is just baffling to me!! She is clearly a patient with dermatological issues and she was sold an expensive product with no money back guarantee. She was never told these things at the time of purchase. She was never offered sample sizes. Just beware if you consider buying or are offered product from this office. It truly is a buy at your own risk and loss sort of situation and not a client centered business at all. Very shady and yucky feeling. read more

I visited this office back in November of last year. I had never been to a dermatologist before and was really just going in for a checkup. There was a small mole on my face (cheek) that Dr. Jank recommended freezing off. It hurt a little, but nothing too bad. I left and they said my insurance should cover everything. Other than some minor pain, the visit was fine. It was after the visit that I was unhappy. The mole Dr. Jank froze off ended up blistering badly and left a scar on my face that is still very visible. Now, 2 months later i received my first bill, saying its 60 days past due no less, for nearly $200. I read some other reviews and agree...this place cares less about your care and more about $$$$$$$ so consider yourself warned! read more

I'll be honest. I read the "not so good" reviews and was very hesitant to try. But, first of all, my main doctor reccomended this place and I throughly trust him. So I went. I saw Dr. Gilbert and my situation was awful and very painful. Long story short, after seeing him and after having the condition for a few weeks, he prescribed a medicine that cured me in THREE DAYS! I was (am) elated!! The office is incredibly busy, but I was still taken within ten minutes of my appointment. Everyone who works there is kind and considerate. The doctor's assistant I saw was professional, knowledgeable, and spent time explaining her diagnosis and my treatment options. However, the wait time for appointments at this office is unacceptable. Every appointment I or my husband have had involved a wait of 30 to 60 minutes. Explanations like "it's the weather" or "we're a specialist office" or "we're short staffed today" grow old when they obviously overbook. They need to value the time of their clients! I also found the demeanor of a member of the office staff to be borderline rude and certainly not friendly when I expressed my displeasure at being kept waiting on a regular basis. read more

My wife and I recently moved to Bellingham and she needed to find a dermatologist for multiple skin issues. She found this doctor through the Brilliant Distinctions website bc she had won a package through a giveaway. She made a new patient appt and when she showed up, the receptionist was rude and ignored her while typing away for over 20 minutes. The receptionist then left her desk and more people came in and they were checked in with no problem while we were still waiting with no acknowledgement from the staff. When the rude receptionist came back and my wife walked up to the window to check in, she told her that they need to see all of the other patients first so it will be a long time before they can see her or we can reschedule. I felt like they just assumed she wasn't going to be worth their time so they were putting her off and trying not to see her. My wife had another appt that day, so we rescheduled but they didn't have anything for another month! Horrible experience just trying to check in and my wife doesn't ever want to return. Going to take our business elsewhere. Reading these reviews makes us feel better about that decision, knowing that we aren't the only ones they treated like crap. My advice: RUN -don't walk- to another dermatologist. That's exactly what we are going to do. If I could give ZERO stars I would. read more

$$$$$$$$$$ Is what they are about. Saw Dr. Dank on a few occasions following Mohs procedure by a doctor in another town. What I don't like is that I was offered to have benign moles burned off with liquid nitrogen, a certain number for $70. They said there in the office that insurance wouldn't cover it. They had me sign a paper saying it was cosmetic and we counted as they burned the moles that was covered under the $70. Then they billed my primary and secondary insurance for the surgery. They collected from me, Blue Cross and TriWest for the same procedure and bypassed their provider contract by getting me to sign. I'm switching to someone else that I think will be more ethical. read more

I waited 35 minutes for the honor to sit across from Dr. Dank and have him mumble, unable to make eye contact, condescend himself, and speak sarcastically and unprofessionally to me. During the few minutes he blessed me with his presence, we were interrupted multiple times by his staff asking questions about other patients. His bedside manner was laughable, I can't believe this guy is still in business. The cherry on top was the unexpected bill I received months after my visit.
