I sent a client there and he is going to save thousands in fees for a manufactured home loan. I am a real estate broker and am impressed with the service and follow up from the Oceanside Branch of PMCU. Allison was curtious and Shawna was very knowlegable. I will raise this to 5 stars if they close the loan on time. They did not close the loan and after promising they could do it left my buyer high and dry! I'll make 2 reviews here: 1.This particular branch was fairly efficient, they replaced my hacked credit card account in a reasonable amount of time. 3.5 stars. Tellers are friendly.About equal to the service at the branch in Vista I usually use. 2. The overall bank service, though, is really bad. I would not start an account with them knowing what I know. At PMCU , I have gotten the worst customer service of any bank/credit union I've ever used. The dispute process is painful; more difficult than any other bank I've used.They do not have online forms @ the website to submit for disputes (I called a rep and he kept telling me they were @ the site but he could not find it, despite being on the phone with me for over 20 minutes. I had to go to the local branch and take an oath (really) and get fingerprinted--FOR $52. Almost not worth it. They do not take your side in a dispute; they take side off the business that charges your card. Essentially, the company that gets your card information pretty much has a license to steal. Had to get this bank due to my service in the -USMC. Only bank available in boot camp, decided to stay with them because why not. I regret that choice every day. 7 years ago I went to get a small line of credit, and they told me they could only let me borrow $3000. Nothing lower, I told them I didn't want or need that much, and they told me that was my only option. They told me it was at a great rate(lies), I've been paying do much into that stupid account and still owe like $1000 over 7years later. My direct deposit is always later then anyone else's on payday, even tho we get payed by the same people. No branches in my area, and rude staff Everytime I call. This bank has been bleeding me dry for the better part of a decade. Hidden fees everywhere, they charge me to use my debit for purchases and at the atm, I'm switching banks Monday. read more

Not a good bank, not good at all. The mobile device is okay, although needs some work. Deposited a check over the weekend. I understand that it needs to clear, but you will still charge bills to the account, even though the check has not cleared? I just got off the phone, and the best they could do is forward my information to a "manager", and see about getting the Overdraft fees you charged my account while the check was still "processing". Holy smokes.. need a simple process executed and I have to call for it. Should be easy right? Well get ready to spend all day just getting in touch with someone. I started my call to them this morning and was put on hold. No big deal. Made some breakfast while I was waiting. Ate my breakfast and was still on hold.. started doing some home repairs while waiting. After about 87 minutes (1:26:47) I gave up. They must have one person working on the phones. The people that work there are awesome but I guess the big bosses want to pocket as much money as possible and leave them severely under staffed. Gotta get that 3rd yacht, am I right? This is my far one of the worst banks. I have been trying to deal with them since 8/30 and they have been god awful every step of the way. First incident is I got mischarged by a company I don't know/recognize/ever used on 8/29. The woman on the phone tells me that they can't start the process of disputing it unless I do it through the mobile app (which I wasn't able to). She COULD however, cancel my card but they wouldn't be sending me a new one until the dispute got handled. Okay, fine. She leads me through the steps of disputing the amount through the banking website because the app didn't have the right buttons for me to dispute it on there. The website then tells me that I will get an email back 2 - 4 business days from now. So they reply back the next day after they're closed (which I was kind of thankful for because I really didn't want to wait that long) but that was only the first of my problems. They said they couldn't dispute it because the company that made the charged my card $1 two days prior to the $40 charge they took out on 8/29 & suggest I call the customer service line. I called the other company and they're out of country so there's already a language barrier. Because this company is not connected Frontwave I won't lay out all the details but they refused because they're sketchy and I was just tired & done with everything. At this point I'm out $60 ($39.90 for the mischarge & 20 for an overdraft that wasn't my fault) and I'm just pissed. I email them back and I say "I'm done with this, they won't refund it & you won't refund it even though I have never disputed a charge" and I ask them to send me my new card. And Marleen (thanks Marleen!!1!) just is like "you'll receive your new card in 10 business days". Obviously, I'm annoyed it's going to take this long but again, I'm over it because now it's 9/3. Jump to today and I get my new card and I'm excited because it's been since 8/30 since I've had a card to use. Well I activate the card over their automated system around 9:30 this morning and it confirms it's active w/pin. I go to update my Hulu payment and it says my card is invalid. And I don't jump the gun and assume it's Frontwave but I'm pretty sure it is. So I try to send my husband $1 and it says my card is invalid. And now I can't reach them because it's after hours and I can't leave a message or anything so I'm just fuming. DO NOT USE THIS BANK. JUST DON'T. I can't wait to change banks after I come back from my vacation. read more

Worst bank for a car loan. I wish there was an option to give zero or negative stars, because they don't even deserve 1 star. I bought a car and paid off the loan with a cashier's check 6 weeks ago. I was told I would have the title in 2-4 weeks. I called last week, 5 weeks after paying off the vehicle, and they hadn't even mailed the title yet. I was told I would have the title by the end of last week, and nothing. I was hoping I'd get it today, and still nothing. Don't get a car loan through this bank if you ever want to get the title to your car! I feel like I've been scammed. read more

This credit union offers awful services with little to no customer service if you are working overseas. Extremely disappointed with PMCU. I walked in after applying for a loan on my vehicle only to sit down and listen to the loan officer tell me that she had never looked at the loan before and that she had to kick it back to underwriting. I had perfect credit 800+ and she proceeded to tell me my score was 125 points lower. Then I went home ran my credit and low and behold my credit score was exactly where I thought it was. Casie handled my transaction, we hit a few speed bumps due to the other credit union not addressing information needed to complete the transaction. So disappointed by this credit union. Applied for an auto loan. Made an apt. The loan lady says she can't access her system so I'd have to come back another time. Poor follow up as I had to constantly call them. Their is no direct phone number to their Oceanside branch as all calls patch through to a central call center. At the end of the day, with my excellent credit and income they came back and offered me a car loan at 9% interest rate! Again the central call center had no details or explanation on why the interest rate was Highway robbery!! I just closed my car loan with Boeing Employees Credit Union at 3.6% for 5 years. Waste of my time with this credit union. They advertised low car loan rates but their underwriting process is so strict as if you are buying a million dollar house. I've sent my documents so many times and still they cannot figure out the total I make. Don't they know how to add? Other places gave me a preapproved already and they were still playing with the numbers. Their inquiry on my credit hurt my score. I wish I didn't go with them. I have a car loan, a truck loan, and a home loan with PMFCU. My wife has a car loan with them too. I went in to refinance my truck, which is already financed through them. I was told there is a $100 fee to refinance since I already have a loan with them! They proceeded to show me that I would save $1000 in finance charges if I paid the $100 and refinanced. So, someone with NO account walks in and they give them a vehicle loan for free, but someone with several loans already, they charge money. They looked at me like I was dumb for not paying the $100, to save $1000 in finance fees. I will look at them like they are the same, when I take my business across town to SDCCU. They will lose my $1000 in finance charges for my truck, and I will be shopping my other loans too. Who is dumb now? read more

I used to love to love this credit union. I originally switched from SDCCU to this credit union but I regret it now. The staff at this location have slowly become worse. Isaiah in particular "helped" me today and he barely looked at me while he was talking to me and was very rude. I don't understand why he couldn't look up at me while he was speaking to me. He barely explained anything to me. He just continued looking at his computer. I work in customer service and it's annoying being treated this way when my own job wouldn't allow me to act this way. I joined over a year ago to get low auto loan rate. Everything went well until I applied for a second car loan. I would be trading in my current and planned on financing the new purchase with approval letter in hand before visiting the car dealer. I was "approved" for $25K via the internet and stopped by my local branch to sign a couple docs, and while there got an additional approval for $2K more in case I needed it at the dealer. At the dealer they offered me a lower APR rate so I financed thru them. The next day, I get a denial letter from PMCU, which was dated and mailed prior to me even going to the dealer.(1 day) The loan person at my branch could not tell me why this happened, so I withdrew my $20K I had sitting in my checking account and went down the road. My previous car loan was always current. No reason for them to deny me. I would have been pissed if I drove off the dealer lot with this approval letter and found out I was not approved. I am a long time member of Pacific Marine Credit Union. I would like to thank the staff for always being so friendly, happy and providing an efficient environment. I feel they are always looking out for me and you can't beat the 0-low fees they have to be a member! They have taken extra precautions to make sure our accounts are safe. My credit wasn't real good and I needed a credit card to get some extensive dental work done. They gave me enough credit to pay for my emergency dental work. I have 2 auto loans and a visa with PMCU and today I received a call from PMCU and they also sent me a text minutes later. I was concerned so I called back and spoke to Mariana who told me that my auto loan was past due. I told her I traded the car in last month. She asked me for the address and location of the car i traded in and I asked her why? She said she had not received payment and that she was going to pick up the vehicle "repossess" Really? I am still within my grace period and I am already receiving collection phone calls and threats for repossession! I asked Mariana to allow me to call the dealership so I can get some resolution to the situation and again she asked for the address so she can go pick up the vehicle for non-payment. I don't understand how 'REPOSSESSION" would even be discussed when technically I am still within my grace period. I have not even incurred a late fee at this point. I called the dealership and they were able to provide the payoff check information .....I related this over to Mariana and she was able to confirm receipt of the check! they had the check since the week of 8/24 and today is 9/14 .... 3 weeks later and they are barely posting the payment. Meanwhile my loan is accruing interest! I sent texts, and several e-mails requesting that they waive 3 weeks of interest. I should have not to pay because someone did not do their job and let the payoff check sit on their desk for 3 weeks. I have not received a response as of yet. I am giving 1 star because Marianna apologized. I appreciate that but it still does not change how i was treated. I have never dealt with such lack of professionalism .....ever! read more

I tried calling to get assistance with my online banking on Friday and was told several times the system was down and they didn't know when it would be up again but I should keep calling back and that they were open 24/7. I did so from 5pm till 7pm but still the system was down. I tried again this evening and got a message that their office is closed. I tried going to the app and I'm getting a "online banking is not available now". I've been a member for the past 26 years when I first started working for MWR at Camp Pendleton. For 26 years my pay check was directly deposited into my checking account. Over the past 26 I have financed five car loans and two home loans. Unfortunately I've had to go to other institutions to finance those purchases. I now work for the school district and have had the satisfaction of banking with School First. I first became a member with School First to open a Summer Saver for vacationing but the customer service and education I've received has been excellent. During the escrow processes of the purchase one home and selling of another homes (I wish that on no one) I needed to cash a check issued by my 401K. Frontwave gave me such the hardest time. Time was of the essence during the process. Frontwave had me sitting in the lobby over 15 minutes just to let me know they would have to place a 5-7 business day hold on the funds which were being issued from my 410k. I walked out so confused and stressed and immediately went to School First my vacation saving bank. Was in and out of there in 10 minutes. A year later and I just purchased a truck with School First. I still have my direct deposit with Frontwave more out of sentimental value. This was my first bank account where I deposited my first little paycheck from my first job straight out of high school but I'm a big girl now making grown folk money so I feel it's time to go. Another thing I use to be able to recognize the tellers at "Marine Corp West" (that's how far I go back). I knew them by name and they knew me. Not anymore. It seems to be new staff every time I go in. And I go in at lest three a month. At School First I recognize the staff and they recognize and acknowledge me. "How's your new home?" "Would you like a water while you wait?" "Good to see you! We will be right with you". And one last note...what ever happened to the hot cocoa? Not everyone drinks coffee. What about water in the hotter months. School first has refreshments on certain Fridays and activities in the waiting room. read more

I was forced to sign up with this bank when I was in the Marine Corps, stayed with them because why not. After years I checked the APR on my credit card after accidentally being a few days late on payment several months back (my fault) and lo and behold it had never gone down. 19% APR the entire time after being told the whole "oh your apr will drop in a few months". Also direct depositing a check on the app is garbage, takes absurdly long for it to hit your checking account. And don't even get me started on loans, I applied for a small personal loan to pay for textbooks and other things for college (less than $3,000) and without missing a heartbeat it was automatically denied even though I have proof of income. After my next paycheck hits my checking account I will definitely be switching banks, horrible bank, horrible service, would never recommend this bank to anyone, I'll even go as far as to say I will recommend to anyone who was forced to sign up with this bank in Boot Camp to switch to Navy Federal immediately upon graduating boot camp. read more

Fees for using my debit card, 30 min+ hold times just to be forwarded to another worker, and fraudulent charges resulting in fees due to a negative balance on the account, however when I contacted the bank I was ignored. This could possibly be the worst financial institution I have ever interacted with. I recently opened an account here as I am new to the area and wanted to continue banking with a local credit union. This was definitely the wrong choice! Service is slow at best, and completely incompetent at worst. Anytime I went into one of the branches it was a long wait and I was usually given incorrect information from bank tellers and other employees. They don't seem to know how to do even the most simple banking activities, services that are routinely provided effortlessly by other financial institutions. They wouldn't let me un-block my account when I had direct military deposits trying to go through, I had to go through a long process just to get my money. Although our loan is actually through their sister credit union, we sometimes make our payments at this Pacific Marine Credit Union on Vista way. The sister credit union lost our payment and handled it in the worst way, however, Pacific Marine went out of their way to help in any way they could. Specifically I want to mention Stephanie who helped my husband above and beyond. She is a true professional.
