My review has nothing to do with the staff. They are friendly, nice, and they move very quick based with the customers they have. They really seem to be a great team. My grievance: I have gotten sick each time I have had ice cream here. The day after having a soft serve swirl cone with chocolate sprinkles. (Specific, I know!) I get sick. There are no issues eating the ice cream the night before, but the next day I am completely nauseous, I dry heave, and I've even vomited. It's happened *twice* now since I've gone there. Each time, the next day, I'm sick. This is not an allergy, I can have DQ or Oberweis with no problems. read more

Was here not long ago, keep forgetting to review. Excellent Mom & Pop place. I like that they will do a chocolate soda for me. Many places will not. Or dont know. Their ice cream is reminiscent of the past. Like when I was a kid. Nostaglia. Service is good here and prices reasonable. Many can go nearby to the big store but this is what America is all about . And the older gentleman here that owns and runs the place is a beauty. I talked a few stories with him over the years. Nothing beats a twist cone dipped in my choice of dip. I also enjoy their malts. I've been here 2 times so I figure it was time to write a review. Make sure to bring cash as they don't take credit or debit. I went with my brother Wednesday night around 7. We were the only ones there when we arrived but by the time we finished ordering there was a line and only 1 girl working. She seemed VERY bored. I ordered a hot fudge sundae, which is basically hot fudge and ice cream. Nuts were extra and so was whipped cream which I didn't realize until after so I asked for it and she didn't charge me. My brother got a blitz, which is sort of like a blizzard but different and he had about 3 bites and tossed it. He did not like it. Keep in mind this is JUST a walk up window so there is nowhere to sit. We went back to the car and ate there. I live super close to here so I know I will be back, but my first choice would be Sonny's on Essington. read more

Not impressed with this place. It was the first time my husband and I went there. Paid $10.50 for 2 Blitz's. My husband's was good, but mine was subpar. I ordered a Butterfinger Blitz and the young man who was working (he was very nice) could not get the butterfinger in the cup. He stuck his fingers in the butterfinger to scoop it out (my husband said he watched him wash his hands, but still). The butterfinger was ooey and gooey, stuck together in one clump and was very chewy-not the flakey fall apart butterfinger I expected. It's very close to our home and the price wasn't bad, but wasn't worth what I got. I won't never go back, but it definitely won't be my first choice with all the other options out there. read more

I'm on the fence about this place. I want to love it because it's so close but the ice cream just wasn't all that. The plain soft serve was good but the version of the blizzard fell really short. If you want a blizzard go across the street to DQ. Also, the girls who worked there were so rude. They were very short with us as well as several other customers. The thing I found really offensive was a young man came up to ask for an application and one of the girls told him, "um, we don't hire boys here." What the heck? There's something about this joint that has had me coming back at least once a month since I first moved here in 2000. Coming from Wisconsin, I enjoy a richer, creamier texture to my frozen treats. Frosty Tips did not disappoint. I remember saving up change from between the couch cushions and birthday money just so I could buy myself a twist cone. Of course living around the block added to the history this place and I have. I highly recommend getting treats from here rather than from across the street at Dairy Queen. I gave this place 4 stars because it is a old-school, order through a window dipped cones, ice cream goodness. You can hang out in the parking lot or on one of the benches to enjoy your treats. But we like to open our trunk and tailgate. I take my kids there and they love it. They would rather go here then any other place. This place is cheap and has been there forever. I love good ol' family owned places. Overall, our ice cream was average, but I will choose family owned over a chain any day. We got a caramel sundae (very good, but then again those are hard to screw up) and a chocolate shake (not quite enough chocolate in it). They now accept credit cards which is great! Nice outdoor ice cream parlor that's a throwback to the ones that existed decades ago. Its ran by an older guy and the front sign is probably the original sign. Got a great medium (about 12 oz.) turtle sundae for $3.50. They also got Italian Ice for $2.60. Even though a Dairy Queen has set up shop across the street some 10 years ago, Frosty Tips is still standing so they must be doing something right.
