So I came after a hike, and was so happy to see them open. Things have changed since this covid pandemic. You pick a size and pick up to three flavors. The young lady working there will swirl it for you. Then, they pass your cup to the toppings person. You pick your toppings and pay by weight. They seem very conscientious about the social distancing, disinfecting, and masking. YOU HAVE TO WEAR A MASK to enter. All of their workers has one on also. Everything tasted divine. This is definitely the worst frozen yogurt shop I've ever been in. We have been coming here for years only because it's the closest one to our house. The flavors are not consistent - they change in quality depending on the day you come in. Also sometimes the yogurt is too icy, or too melted. You never know the kind of quality you're going to get when you walk in the door. As other reviewers have said, sometimes the flavors from the other machines cross contaminate each other, which is why some children get allergic reactions to the yogurt. As the parent of a young child, the health and safety of my child is of the utmost importance - which is why we try to sample different flavors to see if there is any reaction. The only way you can tell how the current batch is going to taste that day is if you try one of the free samples. However the staff and owner are incredibly rude. They raise holy hell if you try more samples than they deem necessary. The owner has just some arbitrary number in his mind that he won't share. The owner went over the top today and was extremely condescending, passive aggressive, and just downright rude to my pregnant wife and myself. My wife was so emotionally scarred by the way the shop owner talked to us, she could barely keep her balance as we walked out (after still buying some yogurt despite his rudeness). In fact, she became so discombobulated afterwards, that she became dizzy and fell out of her chair. The owner clearly doesn't value return customers. He's more interested in throwing his weight around and lording it over everyone. His yogurt is so overpriced compared to other chains relative to the quality. Yogurtland and Menchies are cheaper, better tasting and have much better customer service. I agree with the other reviewer who said, "Overall bad experience and would never go back. If I could give this place negative stars I would." I couldn't agree more. To the owner - Have fun owning your yogurt shop. You are clearly winning in life. You are so successful that you must not care about money because you just lost an entire family of customers FOR LIFE because it made you so mad to LOSE PENNIES on the free yogurt samples you offer to the public willingly. Hope it made you feel like a big important man to talk down to a pregnant mother. I work in hospitality, so I understand the ups and downs of customer service. It just goes with the territory and is the cost of doing business. You may not like every customer that walks in the door, but it's your job to give them a positive experience while they are in your shop. Unsure why this place is always so packed, perhaps the prime location. We walked in there excited for something good considering the line but the place smelled overwhelmingly of bathroom/floor cleaner. It was repulsive. The yogurt was fine, they had the serve yourself condiments and you (as the customer) were supposed to wear gloves during the process. Except no one did and it was packed with teens and kids. During covid, this makes no sense. No one was monitoring anything and I'm sure more than a few cases of covid come from places like this. read more

The yogurt here is really good. My kid got sick with an allergy reaction and I talked to the owner and he listened to me and he actually took immediate action and a very smart one. One of the non dairy yogurts was getting cross contaminated with a dairy yogurt within the same machine so what they did is put ONLY non dairy yogurt in that machine. Those who know me well, knowz I am all about dat fro-yo lyfe. This was my first taste of "FroyoLife" though. It's A-OK for the most part, and I do like getting my own cup, filling it and skooping my own toppings. * strawberry banana, no sugar added * peach, non-fat * original tart * orange sorbetto Tart Original, Peach and Orange Sorbetto were good. Strawberry Banana, unfortunately, tasted as well as looked blehh, and too artificial. Replacement sweetener did not work, I suppose? Piling on the mango, kiwi and a couple of lychees compensated. Froyo Life is on a busy corner of Montrose's main street and quite the mad-house when we hit. Inside and out. Children swarming the entrance, running around, playing outside. I have a bottomless pit of appetite for this frozen treat. So thanks my fro-yo confrère (well, technically "consœur") and pookie woo sis, for locking into this shop. DO NOT GO HERE! COCKROACHES IN FROYO - OWNERS INDIFFERENT! I had dinner on Honolulu and decided to step in for dessert. What a mistake! There were cockroaches in the Froyo dispensers, and near the topping containers. I took a picture(and will upload it here if possible) and then asked to speak with the manager. The manager came out and, in a haughty manner identified herself as the owner - not the manager. When I told her about the cockroaches, her excuses for the cockroaches were, in the following order: 1. customers open the door to enter, cockroaches enter because ice cream is sweet 2. they take care of cockroaches weekly(apparently not often enough!) 3. They're usually very clean. What astonished me was the absolute lack of caring that her establishment was serving people cockroaches. I know that it can be tough to take care of pests, and even though the presence of cockroaches is gross and disgusting, the absolute lack of caring is the shocking part. I get the sense that the owner wouldn't care if she was serving cockroach flavored Froyo. Watch out folks, the shocking lack of care for the hygiene of the food that's served here is outrageous. I won't be coming back, and will be sending a note to the Health Department. read more

How can there be a yogurt place without my review?? My gosh.. The topping choices... You can have anything from caramel topped apples to candy and cereal. The caramel syrup is to die for. Service is always on point. I love coming here because I get a lot of yogurt with a variety of toppings and the price is perfect. For parking, I park by the coffee bean parking lot or the one behind Starbucks which is a 4 hour parking lot. I rarely park on the street with meters because 1st there's rarely parking available and 2nd it's much easier to just park in a lot than suffer with street parking. Perks about Montrose: lots of pups. Froyo has a water bowl upfront for thirsty pups. I love when stores do that. It's their way of saying "I'm sorry your dog can't come in due to health concerns, but here's a water bowl." Sweet gesture! read more

I went to another self-serve froyo. The best flavor was the regular tart. The cookies n' cream and the blueberry acai were too sweet. I added my usualy toppings of almonds, mochi, captain crunch, and mangos. They didn't have blueberries. Damn!!! I ended up paying $5. There is free parking on the streets (unlike Pasadena or Glendale) and it's close by my house. For some reason, I prefer Yogurtland, but since it's closer...I'l be coming here more often. read more

Excellent location with great frozen yogurt! I miss sugar free chocolate frozen yogurt. The 3 girls behind the cashier and fruit/candy bar not professional. I had not been there for a couple of years. I could not reach the last item that was far for me due to top glass shield. I had to bend knees to be shorter and super stretch my arm while carrying a bag and the cup of frozen yogurt to reach the item I wanted. The girls were chatting and not paying attention to customers. One was in front of me, looked at me struggling. I asked if I could have some of fresh berries. She did not help. She said FYI this is self service. I said I am sorry, thank you. So I'll start of by saying I order pressed juices from them once a week for the entire weeks worth. The experience keeps getting worse last weeks order they messed up my entire shot selection gave me the wrong order . This week I have picked up 6 shots again all 6 shots are expiring tomorrow and I picked them up today. Pressed juices are meant to be consumed before the consumption date and I came home looked all of them are expiring tomorrow. My Yelp friend, Andrew P., let me know about Froyo since he knew I lived close to Montrose. (Thanks, Andrew!) However, it was many months later that I spied a coupon for 25% off in the LA Times. That gave me the push to want to sample their wares. I had their Vanilla, Dulce de Leche, Chocolate (unsweetened) and a Dark Chocolate. Although their chocolates were OK, they lacked a certain depth of flavor. However, the Vanilla was excellent.....rich, smooth, fresh, creamy. The Dulce de Leche had a sweet, slightly cooked milky flavor....very comforting. The peanut butter, by the way, was no big deal for me. I like regular peanut butter, but this version was weak, slightly bitter and off tasting. They have an enormous number of toppings from candied lychee to nuts and everthing in between. The variety should satisfy a broad spectrum of customers, but no, they do not have Teriyaki sauce nor Kim Chi toppings. I found that the chocolate flavors at Yogurtland are richer and more to my liking, but the Vanilla and Dulce de Leche at Froyolife are great. Plus the little Montrose Village area is a charming place to just hang out while you're enjoying something good to eat. Note: for those of you who like "tart" frozen yoghurt like at the former Ce Fiore in downtown Little Tokyo, you probably won't like Froyolife as much since they seem to emphasize a creamy, mellow, full mouth-feel. However, it's amazing they stay open until 11pm in a village that used to pride itself on rolling up the sidewalk by 8pm if not earlier. read more

This place is just delightful and I wish I have one near me but then again, probably not because I would eat it everyday and it would not be friendly to my waist line. You get quite a few choices of yogurt flavors like green tea, plain, strawberry, pistachio, mango, cappuccino (this is all i can remember). I chose pistachio and mango mixture. You get to make your own yogurt and put your own toppings on. Then you pay by the weight of your selection. I had graham cracker crumbles, mochi (which seemed very fresh) and mangos. It came out to $4.98. The Pistachio tasted like pistachio which is surprising to me since I only had in a ice cream or gelato form. I had the tart(origjnal flavor for judgment purposes) and dulce de Leche(my first taste) topped with mochi,strawberries and kiwis and she had strawberry shortcake topped with red gummy bears and m&m's. The result? My daughter described it,"nasty". I described it as a low-quality frozen yogurt. Same average price as the famous Yogurtland, smoothness and texture were terrible. The tart didn't have the big tangy taste that I was looking for. They have wide variety of toppings,a fun place for sure but not for someone who had experienced better tasting yogurt. This place is a hit in this area because it was really crowded. I guess there was no other quality yogurt shop around. I have been going to Montrose since before I can remember and I have always enjoyed this quaint little town. A recent addition is Dolci Mango and I am thoroughly pleased and excited about their new presence. I have never been to a self serve yogurt place before so it was all very new and exciting to me when I got to take about 10 little sample cups and try each and every flavor they had. I then filled up my cup and enjoyed my mango/plain tart yogurt with some fresh fruit additions. Another great thing about this place is how it has livened up the corner of Ocean View and Honolulu. At 9PM on a Sunday night there are still a ton of people milling about eating their yogurt or drinking their coffee from The Coffee Bean across the street. read more

It seems like they always have the same flavors and I've been there many many times Since I love going to big mamas and Papas two doors down. They use some pretty cheap looking spoons and they give them to you ....don't get to pick them out ....seems petty, but go to menchies and you'll see what I mean. Went twice for the tart this week and their machine said out of order. How long does it take to fix a machine!! And if that's the main flavor why don't you make it on one of the other machines. It seems like this store is ran mainly by two teenagers at any given time, who most often are more interested in chatting with each other than cleaning their surroundings. Counters are often messy, dirty rags sitting in the counter and used repeatedly, floor dirty, yogurt area dirty with melted yogurt and on and on. This is a very busy store and I'm sure it's making enough money to be able to schedule enough responsible employees specially in summer months at least. With Menchies coming to this area they have a competition and can loose a lot of business. Please fix these problems because I love your yogurt and want to keep coming... Today, July 29th, I want to update my review of Froyo. I have made several trips since my original post but today I noticed how it's changing for better. It was busy but still it was clean and orderly. Young girl at the counter greeted us and she was wiping the counter clean. Yogurt area was reasonably clean and everything was nicely stocked. I really don't know if I like this place more than Yogurtland or not, but I am not a fan of FroyoLife parking. Montrose is a pretty busy area. Luckily, I work 3 blocks away from here, so walking is quite short during my lunch break. I am a huge fan of the sorbets here. The last time I was here, I was so sad to see that the Mango yogurt wasn't there anymore, but I was so pleasantly surprised with the pomegranate sorbet. Love the topping here, I'm a huge fan of the fruits, and I always have to get a gummy worm or two for the top. You also can't beat the price here. This is much like all the other yogurt places around though, cheap self serve. I guess it just comes down to toppings and exactly how cheap it is. I love this place anyway though. read more

My sister and I are here almost every day! We have so many points that we don't know what to do with them. The staff is pleasant, everything else is self service which is amazing because you can out as much or as a little of anything you want! My sister and I tend to stuff our Froyo to the top so our bill is usually $14 altogether but hey, frozen yogurt is amazing! When this place opened up a few years back, or should I say a tad longer, I don't believe I have ate ice-cream after trying Froyo! We have been going to FroyoLife for years and I mean years since they first opened. It has a great location in the heart of downtown Montrose that makes for a great snack or dessert any time of the day. The toppings are always fresh and well maintained (keep those sticky fingers out). There are usually a good dozen or so choices of flavors that are constantly on rotation. I have noticed though, that the prices of their yogurt have steadily been going up over the years which does make it tough to bring the whole family there and not walk away spending a good 20 bucks, so be careful how many sprinkles you put on. read more

We went there yesterday for the first time since covid. No more self serving, which works out better for kids over serving themselves. You need to pick your flavors, they fill it up for you, and pass it over to the toppings station. Someone else put your toppings and weight and take money. They accept apple pay but you have to sign with your finger on the ipad device. They have anti bacterial to use after signing at the register. Tables are put away. No more sitting inside allowed but they have couple tables to sit outside as well as the city bench right in the front. They have plexiglass and workers all have masks and gloves. My kids were happy to be eating frozen yoghurt after 3+ months! I didn't ask for samples. Assuming they don't have samples anymore but I maybe wrong. read more

Due to something about being a franchise and can't be associated with the name "Dolci Mango", last week, the owner of this place had to change the name to FroyoLife. Jackie, what did the guy say again? Despite the name change, everything is the exact same. So yeah, me and Jackie G. came here the other night for a quick yogurt run, as we walked in at 9:35 when they were going to be closing at 10. I got the pomegranite tart and the mango tart. I didn't see the green tea (tart?) like last time, then again I didn't really bother to look over all the flavors to see if they even had it. As for toppings, I forewent (still sounds weird, see original review) the diced mango and decided to try the mandarin oranges. I also got some strawberries and of course, an escaping Cuban's floatie liferaft full of mochi balls. (RACIST!!!) The mandarin oranges were a decent touch. Especially since mangoes aren't in season yet (May - Sept), they would've been sour and a little crunchy. We sat down in the corner and chatted away over our froyo. 14.5 oz came in at a whopping $5.24. Still not as cheap as Yogurtland, but it works. read more

Yummy! When I first saw this place, I thought, "Another Pinkberry knock-off. Big whoop." But, I was pleasantly surprised. The decor is similar to Pinkberry's: vibrant colors, clean, simple lines, lots of white space. However, they are self-serve, which is fabulous. You can create your own yogurt dish just the way you want it. When we walked in, a very nice employee handed us small cups to sample the different yogurt flavors. There were at least 10 different flavors - I tried the Vanilla and the sugar-free blueberry. The vanilla was delicious. There are 4 steps, or stations, for putting together your dish - the first is where you pick a cup size, second you pick your yogurt flavor, third you add toppings. They have 2 groups of toppings: fruits and the more traditional toppings like nuts and cookies. Lastly, you pay. They charge by the ounce and it is so cheap. I was so happy with my purchase and my yogurt creation. This is tons better than Coldstone. read more
