I'm located in a new office in walking distance to Fruta. My coworkers & I decided to have lunch there this past Monday! First off the place is clean, spacious and the decor is nice. The young person that took my order to was patient with me since it was my first time and knowledgeable with the items they offered. My salad was fresh, delicious and huge! I ate 1/2 for lunch and 1/2 for dinner that night. The menu has something for everyone, breakfast sandwiches, salads, burgers, smoothies & protein shakes etc. Oh & the cafe con leche was great too! They have a whole coffee flavoring station with flavored syrups, sugars and sweeteners, as well as fresh juice fountains! We will return again soon!!! I would have given them 5 stars but today there was hard inedible pieces that reminded me of brick in my fireball smoothie, felt like it could've cracked my tooth. Service is usually fast. Everything looked clean. Conveniently located across the college and a few blocks from the courthouses. I've eaten breakfast from here once and I grab smoothies when I'm nearby. I have been coming here for years and since they opened in my work building a year or 2 ago ( and closed the Fairfield Ave location), this has my and my coworkers breakfast/lunch go to spot. They have a great selection of salads, sandwiches, and smoothies including "create your own." There are also lots of breakfast choices. Staff is friendly. We used to order online (as wait times can be long and often no one answered our calls to place orders) and would just pay upon pick up as we often grabbed a cookie or chips or drink before heading back to our offices. Fruta recently sent out a notice that all online orders had to be paid online and not at pick up. Ok, slight inconvenience but what the heck. However, we just noticed that there now is a 75 cent charge added to all online orders--even pick up. Also, when checking out online, a 20% tip is automatically added even for pick up! Yes, you can manually change it with a few extra steps, but the tip should not be automatic. I find this online fee and automatic tip adding to be deceptive and greedy practices and not at all fair to customers. The convenience and trust went out the window, so this will no longer be our go to spot. read more

My boyfriend had a salad from here delivered to my job, the delivery guy made sure he found me which I'm sure wasn't too easy since I work at a hospital! Very nice of him. I got the BLT caeser salad with grilled chicken and avocado, it was very a good amount, fresh and tasty and came with plenty of dressing on the side. I liked the cheese that came on it! This was a nice find in one of the business districts downtown Bridgeport. I stopped in with my mother for a quick breakfast based upon fellow Yelper reviews. We were greeted warmly and ordered a croissant (toasted), scrambled eggs for mom and I had an empanada (beef) and a chocolate chip cookie. Breakfast of champions, I know. I love a good empanada and for those who really know me, and as I've mentioned in reviews before, if there's a chocolate chip cookie in the house, I'll try it! My mother said her breakfast hit the spot. My empanada was very good. The filling was fantastic while the dough was different than most empanadas I've had, but still pretty good. The chocolate in the cookie was very good and the overall cookie was just ok, needing salt. I'd definitely stop in again. read more

I came here one late afternoon on a weekday just to chill and grab some snacks. I ended up getting a smoothie with a bunch of different fruits (the make-your-own smoothie is awesome because you can pick however many fruits you want, amazing!) and an Oreo brownie. The brownie was way, way, way too sweet and I wasn't too big a fan of that, but the smoothie was delicious! Very thick and fruity, it was great. There's also Wifi at the spot and outlets, making it a pleasant cafe to work at. The chairs were comfortable and the space is quite big, so I was pretty happy being there. The only downside is they close quite early, but they let me sit there a bit after they closed. At $10.40 post-tax, it's a bit pricey for the smoothie and brownie, but both were huge and definitely shareable! read more

Or, even better, you can text over your order and it's ready when you get there. Fruta Juice is that place for me. Don't let the juice part of the name mislead you. They definitely have a huge variety of smoothies and healthy drinks, but there is also a full breakfast and lunch menu. For breakfast some favorites are eggs cooked to order, sometimes in an omelette and sometimes in a sandwich. Bacon seems to be a popular side. Lunch options include sandwiches, salads made to order, and several grab and go options. Oh, and they also have several freshly made empanada choices! If you don't see something you want on the menu, just ask. Chris and his team are super helpful and accommodating. I'm starting a new food plan and the folks at Fruta have helped me come up with some new options that keep me on track. Fruta also does an excellent job with catering orders. I have done several lunches and they did a great job of putting together a nice spread at a reasonable price. My customers were very happy with their Fruta lunches. And you can't forget dessert. I regularly pick up their freshly baked cookies and brownies to bring to customers and they're always a big hit. I've been wanting to try this place for a while and this past weekend I finally did. They have an extensive smoothie menu and even a separate line for drink orders. Everything sounds delicious and seems super healthy. I ultimately went with what was probably the least healthy drink of them all. The candy bar smoothie is out of this world good! Hazelnut, caramel and chocolate is the best combination. I got the medium and it was very filling. Since the weekend I've tasted two other fruit based smoothies that were tasty. With that being said, I love empanadas and these just didn't do it for me. The ground beef didn't have much flavor and I was thrown off by the string beans and carrots in the empanada. This place is fuego. I haven't tried the smoothies, but like the salads are great. I got a small, pimped it out, and it came to $8.99 which is very fair. Salmon on the salad was like $3 more which is a great deal right there and I'll probably get that every day until I get mercury poisoning or something. Otherwise I got an empanada which was fantastic. You can really tell it was made from scratch with how fresh the insides were. Probably coming here every day for lunch at my job. Late review. Stopped in maybe about 2 months ago on a Saturday. Cute establishment. Staff was nice and patient as me and my boyfriend took about 15 minutes just to make a decision. Excruciatingly long wait for our food. There wasn't enough people in there for it to take as long as it did. I'm talking atleast 30 minutes. I had a panini. It was okay. Chicken had no flavor at all the condiments on the sandwich were the only thing that saved it. I likely wouldn't order it again. My boyfriend didn't like his meal either. Might check out again if walking around Downtown Bridgeport and absolutely starving. I work nearby and this is my go to place for lunch, a healthy snack or a treat. I'm sure someday I'll take advantage of their oatmeal for breakfast, too. The build your own salad option has so much variety -- nuts, cheese, fruit, every possible vegetable -- and it's so fresh. The empanadas (as a vegetarian, I get the spinach one), are okay, not supurb, but they make a great snack and the sauce they come with is fantastic. The other day a fresh fruit cup was just the thing when I realized I hadn't brought enough from home for a filling lunch. Today I saw someone order a cholada which looked amazing - passionfruit juice with sweetened condensed milk, topped with fresh berries and mango. The prices are also reasonable, unlike some restaurants nearby where you can spend $13 on a tiny salad that leaves you hungry. The people who work there are also really sweet, the space is clean and bright and there are lots of magazine to look through while you wait for your food. You can also eat in, too -- they have several tables. My only complaint is regarding the salad dressings. They're all cheap mass produced stuff and they just taste super processed. Everything else there is so fresh, it would be nice if they had slightly better dressing. But that is a minor flaw! read more

I came in this morning to get a breakfast sandwich. I ordered an sandwich with two eggs and sausage and no cheese as i am lactose in tolerant. They some how have a system where you pay for cheese and charge you for the extra egg. I asked the man behind the counter and he insisted the cheese is "free". I then asked if i wanted cheese on a sandwich it wasn't advertised on would it still be "free" and he didn't have an answer. I like their smoothies but i won't be back for breakfast. read more
