I came into this Frys because I was in the area picking up some lunch & realized I needed to replenish some flowers at home! There's really no method as to figuring out if a particular location will have great flowers unless you walk into that store to take a look for yourself! As we were parking my hubby said oh no you're not going to find any nice flowers here... love to have the last word, lol! The flower section is on the smaller side but everything is so fresh with a very nice variety to choose from! I ended up grabbing a nice bunch from the wall in the $20 slot & when I walked out with this beautiful bouquet my hubby then knew that you can't judge on a location whether or not you're going to luck out! read more

Fry's Food Stores. Tempe, AZ. Nov, 2025. We noticed many Fry's Food Stores while vacationing in the Phoenix area, a chain that we don't have "back home." We dropped in to pick up just a few items -- oranges, strawberries, shredded cheese, bread, popcorn, and wine/beer. My husband was especially pleased to find Guinness Stout. Overall, we had a good experience. The store was clean and well-organized. We found everything that we had come in to buy. Items in the fruits and vegetables section were fresh. Access was convenient from our resort. Prices were competitive. The cashier was friendly, and scanned a card to give us Member's prices. The store is also committed to supporting non-profits to end food insecurity in Arizona (and asks if you'd like to donate at check-out). They also have membership programs (fuels; SUNS Fans), but we didn't check them out because we were transient. The only downside was that the parking lot was a bit tight. This wasn't an issue with our compact rental car but might have been with our Class-B RV at home. We would shop here again. read more

I've been shopping here nearly as long as it has been opened. I SHOP frys mainly for the gas points, including the double points on gift cards. Two weeks ago, while doing my.part time job as a Frys self check out customer, I purchased an Amazon gift card in the amount of 200 dollars. Minutes later I discovered this card actually mistiriously was for some place called LULEMON AND was not a valid Amazon card. I immediately returned to the Frys register but was refused any sort of refund. The Frys associate.blamed me for not checking when I swiped the card a checkout I filed an investigation but was refused a refund from Frus with nonexplanation. read more

Saturday 10 am and only one cashier for large orders Kevin bagging and when asked to call more cashiers he said only one cashier and no baggers available. Asked for manager and her said they would get us all taken care of soon. Customer behind me said he was manager....when I asked him of he was, he finally said he was. He never jumped into another register when a bagger arrived. This store is always short staffed and mgmt and front end manager just don't see urgency to improve service. Everyone is line were upset. I don't normally write reviews on grocery stores but after our visit to this location, here's a review. We stopped to pick up a quick gift card for a Christmas package mailing we were doing. Got the gift card and went to the first register with a light on. No checker but a group of employees were congregating and having their own little chatty get together not far. One checker yelled at us that someone would be there. We waited a short bit and then walked to the next check stand with a light. That checker was also in that group and so was the third checker from the next checkout stand. In the fourth checkout there was a checker and a bagger. Now these employees were a little older than the other group so maybe they already knew you don't come to work to socialize with friends. We asked where the manager was and was told someplace in store. The only thing we could think of is the manager certainly wasn't doing his/her job and that's probably the person that needed replacement. read more

Literally been coming here for 2 years to cash my husbands checks with power of attorney not only did John Jacobs not know what a power of attorney was he tried to lie to me and say the young lady that was helping me was the one who worked the customer service counter. Which is a lie because I usually come earlier and there are totally different people who work the morning shift. Not only have I've been to this fry's but other fry's as well. He didn't care and was very rude and I feel like he automatically assumed that I was lying and was discriminating against me. I've never been treated so bad in my life. read more

I've never had any real problems with this store. It is your typical lower income neighborhood grocer. What really bugs me about ALL the Fry's stores is their waste with receipts. Call me a hippy, but more than half of the receipt paper has nothing to do with my purchase. I buy 1 item and they hand me a receipt 12 inches long! With all the stores doing that it equates to many thousands of pounds of paper wasted every year unnecessarily! Hundreds of trees are dying because these guys just don't give a shit. Ya, ya, I know, it's probably the least of this companies waste issues, but it's one that's handed to me every time I shop there, staring me in the face. I've only dined at this location for a quick deli experience. I am not into cold cuts but their lunch specials on hot menu items are worth the trip to the store during my busy lunch break. You can do a single meal deal for as low as $3.99. An example is a chicken breast both fried and crispy along with two sides. The only issue is when the hot sides are not available especially during lunch because the kitchen did not properly organize the time to have anything ready can be disappointing. However you can grab some of their many delicious salads as a side. The service is always friendly. They get you in and out. There are two mini tables to dine at if you want to eat onsite. read more

So I am a local shopper at this Frys and all I can say is that the senior staff there is just the worst you can ever meet and are ALWAYS trying to get you to buy something, even charge you $3 just to take out your last $4 out off your card. They will also give misleading information and when someone calls them out on it they just throw their hands up in the air like 'oh well, I lied, so what?' I always run into some form of problem with the morning senior staff that I would rather bother a manger and get their assistants then their staff. A nuance to the community. We've repeatedly called the store to ask them to get shopping carts out of our yard. Granted, it's not employees taking them and dropping them off but their property is their responsibility. There are now 4 shopping carts in front of our house and all they've done is given us a bullshit number that has yielded no results for months. Horrible experience yesterday with a cashier accusing me of not paying a bag of chips when I had already paid for all my groceries. If she had paid attention instead of being loud and obnoxious with the gentlemen bagging the groceries she would of remembered she did,instead she went to tell some tall ass guy to forbid me to leave because I didn't pay uh no I hand him my receipt and said yeah she paid. Seriously !? I was infuriated she went about that way with the situation, I come from retail as well and if I suspected something wasn't paid for I'd check the transaction myself instead of making the customer embarrassed. By the way, before me there was a nice white couple which she was so nice to once I come up she didn't even acknowledge me (Hispanic) on top of shutting the one bagging up because he said yes she did pay for them. Fry's is one of my favorite grocery stores. The staff is very friendly and and their prices are very reasonable. I am in to couponing and no place can beat the many of the deals combined with coupons for items. They automatically round up any coupon to $1.00 and let you combine multiple coupons up to 3 with their deals as well. read more

Updating. Management has changed yet again. I do not have much dealing with management in this store anymore because of the frequent turnover and the fact that I just got tired of dealing with it. But, some things have improved. Much of the "regular" store employees have been there since I started going there some 8 years ago and much of the attitude has greatly improved. The self-checkouts are handled and managed much better now, but I grew weary of those long ago with the constant problems. If there is a full service lane available or even a moderate wait, I will go there instead. I still use self-checkout, but not as much as I used to. I could go to another Fry's and I often-times I do, but this one is a mile away from my house. It's much smaller than most Fry's. A store next to it went out of business some time ago, an opportunity for Fry's to expand the store, but they didn't. The main problem I have with this store is the frequent-enough turnover of management. Customers are Guinea pigs to be treated to whatever service the current management wants to dole out. It is a training store for management to learn and then move on - learn, that is, at the expense of it's customers. Updating: 9/1/2013 - they have changed management yet AGAIN!! This has to be the worst Fry's in AZ. Much like Lisa, I also think it needs to be burned down/condemned, however, I think the people inside should be allowed out. Smells bad, out-dated everything, staff is short and sometimes rude and the deli department is just sad, oh so very sad. The best thing this Fry's has going for it is that I can always find higher quality meats and lean ground beef/turkey marked down (hence my addtl star). Apparently those are not popular items to be purchased at this location. I live right by this grocery store and have been going here for years. I don't think I've ever left unhappy. They got nice employees and their customer service is awesome. I usually go here for produce, meat, drinks, and just really anything I can eat, lol. Nice environment and not a bad place to go to if you looking to buy groceries. I ALwAYs shop at Frys! This fry's in particular. There are always great weekly deals, as well as sales such as the mega sale happening right now. I have the frys food app on my phone, so I always look up coupons before shopping. I LOVE the free Friday downloads they have also. I don't know of any other grocery store that does that. I would go back to this store every time I can.There clearance section in the back of the store is also great :) read more

This Fry's is the closest Grocery Store to my new apartment. I just moved in over the weekend, and went out exploring the neighborhood. I have been to a few Fry's grocery stores in the Tempe area before, and generally liked the stores, but this one felt inferior. I found the place to have a feel of the Ghetto Pavilions that I went to on occasion while I was still living in Long Beach. The aisles are narrow and dingy, with holes were product should be on the shelves. The main detraction is the cashiers. The young lady I had the misfortune of dealing with was rude and not helpful at all. Maybe it was that I was a bit more enthusiastic than the normal customer, but she seemed like she was having a bad day. She looked like she has had several bad days in a row, and her hair was messed up and her teeth were nasty. The courtesy clerk (I know the official title, because it was my first job as a kid) did not ask me what style bag I preferred, and stuffed everything in a single plastic bag, which he ripped. The carts all had bum wheels, and the parking lot was filthy. I'm not going back. Instead, I'll plan my grocery trips and head to the Basha's a few blocks from here. read more

SHAME ON THIS STORE AND THE EMPLOYEES! I entered this store today and upon entrance I noticed an elderly man in his mid 80's sitting in one of the stores mobile carts and he had obviously had an accident as two employees were cleaning up the mess with a disgusted face. As I was leaving the store approximately 10 minutes later, I found the man slumped over in the cart. I stopped and asked the man if he was okay. He stated he was very tired as he had been waiting for a cab to arrive for over two hours. I called the cab company that he was waiting on only to find out that they still did not have a cab available to pick him up. I proceeded to contact another cab company who arrived within 15 minutes of my call. My complaint is because of the lack of human kindness by the staff of this store. If the man had been sitting there for over 2 hours, I would have hoped that at least a manager would have ask if the elderly man needed any assistance. But instead, they all chose to turn a blind eye on this man. THEY SHOULD ALL BE ASHAMED OF THEMSELVES. God forbid, should something like this ever happen to one of their parents and no one stops to help them. Have a little human decency and kindness for others. You all stand around and BS so much so not having the time is no excuse. I will never spend a dime in this store. read more

I absolutely love this Fry's store. It has the best managers specials on their meats. The people are friendly. The store is well kept for the neighborhood it is in and does an excellent job servicing the people of the neighborhood of 48th and baseline. I find that the somehow I save more money when shopping at this Fry's compared to other Fry's. The only compliant I have about this store is the pharmacy takes a long time but this is explained by all the changes in medical in the surrounding area that brings in more pharmaceutical customers to this location. I avoid this by going for my pharmaceutical needs to the rural and southern store. But I end up spending more there. read more

I shop at this fry's on 48st and Baseline because its close to my home. Every time I shop there, my experience gets worse and worse .First and foremost the store smells and does not ever look clean. I have seen beer cans chicken bones in the parking lot. Friday I went in the store and my shopping basket looked like it had human or animal feces in it!! I confronted the clerk and the manager and asked how often the carts are cleaned. I also stated that this was a health issue because people put their food in the carts. The clerk and the manager looked at me like I was from another planet, neither one apologized nor did they tell my how often the carts are cleaned. I asked for another cart the manager brought me one, but she did not wipe it down. As I was leaving the cart wheels got stuck and would not roll, so I had to again take my food out and put them in another cart! I feel like this store is neglected because of the area!
