The following pertains to the Fry's at 1935 N. Stapley in Mesa. On Wednesday, July 10th, my husband placed an order for 24 bottles of Decoy Sauvignon Blanc at the Fry's Service Desk as the liquor department manager was not in. The individual who assisted him stated that he was new, and not quite sure of the procedures, but took the order regardless. As a result of the individual's lack of confidence, my husband chose to follow up on the order a couple of days later. He was assisted by a person identifying himself as an assistant manager (AM). The AM was very pleasant and helpful, and confirmed that he would verify placement of the order. He also volunteered that the order would likely be in on Saturday, July 13th. On July 13th, my husband called to find out whether the order was in, and ready for pickup. Unfortunately, the AM who had seemed so helpful was not in, and the AM on duty exhibited a reluctance to check on the order status. When my husband expressed his disappointment with the poor service given in connection with the order, the AM agreed to resubmit the order, and call us upon its arrival at the store. As the wine was on sale at the time of original order placement, my husband also requested confirmation that the sale price would be honored whenever the wine was ready for pickup. The AM was very noncommittal, but indicated the sale price would likely be honored. We haven't had good service in the liquor department of Fry's Stapley location since Don, the old manager, left. I have to say that the Bashas' store on Brown Road couldn't be more helpful and efficient in handling our orders of equivalent size. Of course, Total Wine at Tempe Marketplace provides outstanding service. With your competitors being so good, I have to ask myself why I would suffer the aggravation of dealing with Fry's. It remains to be seen whether we will actually ever take receipt of this last Fry's order. It seems the local personnel just aren't capable of dealing with special orders. read more

Tonight theses stars go out to the Pharmacy staff. I have to admit I tried to go to a closer pharmacy to fill my antibiotic script after work just because I am not feeling good. They tell me my script cannot be processed because there is a discrepancy with my info not matching the insurance company. That pharmacist told me to call to fix the issue so they can process my script. I told them to just give me my script back and I would go to Fry's were they have no issues with my insurance. Needless to say I drove to Fry's, I was in and out in less than 10 mins. When you are feeling under the weather that makes a world of difference. Honestly my encounter with all the staff at Fry's have been wonderful. From crazy busy days when registers are not working properly. To being the one stating behind the angry customer seeing the cashier flustered but still handling the situation with a smile. You guys have great staff all around!! read more

I like this place - it's close to my house, clean, friendly staff, items in stock... I love looking at their home decor section. The produce is overpriced sometimes though. The place gets crowded sometimes. The guy is never at the self checkout desk when I need him to add ice to my order. And there's no cell phone reception in the back of the store, which is seriously annoying when I'm on the phone with my husband trying to see if there's anything else I can pick up. read more

First and last time using this Pharmacy! Recommended by our Benefits Department as having cheap prescription prices. Not True! Paid $3.00 more on one and $42.00 more on the other than when I fill them at the WalMart Neighborhood Market right down the street. Not as if that weren't bad enough, I waited in line to get them filled and then when he quoted the price on the one, I asked to have it transferred to the WalMart Pharmacy. They said they would price match, but still charged me $128 when I could have filled it down the street for $98. Finally, tired of waiting, I said to just let me pay for the script so I could go. I was in excruciating pain from the gout and could barely stand. Low and behold, they made me get in line again. NEVER AGAIN WILL I GO TO THIS PHARMACY!!! read more

I went in to buy some flowers and a card for a friend that had just lost her daughter. A very NICE young man in the flower department. (I believe his name is Eric) helped me. I told him what I was needing and while I went to get a card he made up a bouquet. It was more beautiful then I could have ever imagined. He went way above and beyond for me. He could tell that I was very upset about my friends daughter and he truly helped my pain and I believe his bouquet helped her pain too. In this day and age where everyone is out for them self. It was very refreshing to find someone that cares for others and goes the extra mile for them. I would definitely recommend going into this store. read more

Very clean and well stocked with a ton of things to browse. Not just groceries, but also dishes and a section of cute kids clothes. The deli was great, and made a very tasty roast beef sandwich to share with my son. Definitely will be back. read more

Service has always been okay. Nothing spectacular. This location does have an expanded selection over some other stores I've been to in the valley. Their parking lot is insane trying to navigate while busy. I try to go during off peak times for this reason. read more

The selection of grocery items, produce, and sushi items here are great. Most of the staff is super nice. The only area we have had any issues is in the deli area. There is a ticket system which is very rarely used. You never know at the time if they are using it at all and are very rude when they communicate whether they are or aren't. read more

This one is for their pharmacy. I've been using their pharmacy for almost 5 years now and never had a problem before, but within the last two weeks I've been shocked. First of all I went in to get my antibiotic, which they filled incorrectly and had to redo which was fine with me, I don't mind waiting. But when I went back they almost sent me out the door with someone else's prescription of Oxycodone instead of my antibiotic and if I hadn't noticed the label before she put it in the medication bag, I would've walked out without even knowing what I had. Then today I've been having trouble filling a different prescription. When I called I asked to speak with the pharmacist (which is what I was instructed to do by another facility) she was extremely rude and talked to me as if I was an idiot and raised her voice at me for asking her questions in her area of expertise like WUT?! As I said I've been using this pharmacy for almost 5 years and never had a problem. People have bad days and I get that but I've worked in retail and customer service pretty much my entire working life and not once have I been THAT rude and disrespectful to a customer for asking me questions that are literally my job to answer. I don't know if they have new management or what's going on over there, but once my issues with this prescription have been resolved I'll be going to a different pharmacy. I would transfer my prescription tomorrow but doing so would probably cause further issues and extra confusion. So disappointed read more

Ordered a 10ft party sub for a big event at the house, everything was in boxes so it wasn't opened up till we got home. The onion, lettuce, tomato was supposed to be given on the side and there was a small container with ONE tomato cut up in it.... for a 10 ft sub! The lettuce was also still in huge pieces nothing was cut up. Then discovered the bread was stale as we started eating. Really disappointed, won't be ordering another one from Frys. read more

This is in regards to the Starbucks location that is inside Frys: The service here was absolutely terrible. There were 2 people in front of my boyfriend and I. Given it is Christmas Eve, I understand that it was going to be busy. One employee that was working had two of her friends come in. She made 3 drinks ahead of the customers(including myself) that had already ordered. I don't have a problem with giving free stuff to your friends at your job, but when you have 4 customers waiting, you should not make them first. She proceeded to make the drinks. When I approached the counter to speak to a manager, no one was avaliable. A young girl named Alex however, heard my complaint and took action. She was just a regular crew member, but told the other two people behind the counter to return to work and get the drinks out. Alex was the main reason that I did not want to speak to a manager after. For the other two, they should be disciplined. read more

The store is fine. The parking sucks. You either find a spot eventually by cruising the area or you park clear out by Stapley drive. When that happens we go to Walmart down the road. I have been shopping at this store for 30 years. Yesterday was my last time. Even with the higher prices, I would have rather shopped here than Walmart, because Fry's HAD good customer service. They always had plenty of checkout lines open, but that has ended. They put in twice as many self checkouts. On a Sunday morning, they had two human checkers with huge lines, forcing customers to use their ridiculous self checkouts. I had a cart load and the self checkout had four rotating bags with no other place to even set groceries waiting to bag. At the very least, they should offer a discount for making you bag your own groceries with a computer yelling at you not to steal, "place the item in the bag", of which there are none left. There was no where to set my own bags, so I had to use their antiquated plastic bags. So that was my last trip to Fry's. Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, Sprouts, and Natural Grocer's actually value their customers, and treat them with kindness and respect. Done with Fry's for good this time. read more

I had approximately 10 items in a cart. Put cart aside to run to restroom. Maybe 3 minutes tops. Come back to find cart missing and almost all my items at the counter at the self check out. I go to the girl, excuse me I went to the restroom and u have taken my item's. She looks at me like a deer in headlights as Im asking for a cart and my items she goes well heres some of it and a basket. I go I need all my stuff and a cart. Well its been put back u will have it to go get it back. No first off maybe u should wait longer than 3 minutes to take someones cart, second customer service sucked. She should have retrieved the items she put back and also retrieved a cart for me. She was more worried about her friends at Starbucks and her coffee to care about the situation. Sad very sad. So because some of my items were returned and I was frustrated about the situation I forgot some of the items and didnt realize til I got home. Also maybe all employees should be in uniform cause a sweatshirt and jeans doesnt look professional. read more

I was very disappointed in the flowers I got for prom. The flowers brow on the top and the foliage around it was to big and didn't even look good. And the flowers fell off the wrist band seconds after putting it on. And the flowers were small and closed and we ordered 3 for our corsages and they took it upon themselves to put 2 because they didn't think it would look good. Not impressed at all. This particular Fry's grocery store is my main supermarket. You can find me here about once a week shopping for the essentials. The staff is always very friendly and willing to help. The best part about this store is that if the checkout lines get slightly full they open up another register and pull the next person over. They almost always have a staff member watching the lanes for this reason. The store itself is always very clean and organized, shelves are always full. They have a great deli, meat department, bakery, Starbucks (if you like that sort of thing) pharmacy, salad bar, cheese bar and even a sushi station. Also, they have a huge selection of specialty foods to cater to the vegetarians, non gluten consumers and plenty of organic selections. They carry a variety of home goods as well. The prices are extremely fair, I would say they are comparable to the prices at Stater Brothers in Southern California. No gimmicks or hard to read weekly ads. The only thing I believe they can improve on is keeping the parking lot clear of shopping carts. Having worked 7 years of grocery I think this could be managed a bit better. I often park further out to avoid possible bumps and scratches on my car. Overall I love shopping here and feel that I am getting a great value for my dollar. I would recommend to my friends and family. read more

I'm not sure how many times I have come home with bruised & smashed produce but today's grocery trip iced the cake for me. I specifically asked the cashier to put my frozen & refrigerated items into the cooler bag that I brought, this did not happen, instead my 3 heads of green leaf lettuce were at the bottom of my cooler bag alongside 2 cantaloupes with the rest of my produce on top. The bag was heavy even for my 6'2" husband! My frozen food was thrown into one of the canvas bags that I had brought. When I got home I photographed all of the produce that came out of my bad before we could even see the lettuce. I then called the store & spoke with an assistant manager who apologized & said that she will "counsel" the cashier & bag person. She added my name to her book so that I can get 3 heads of lettuce at no charge on my next visit, I had already assured the manager person that I will not be back. This is the store that I have gone to weekly for several years, spending about $130.00 per visit, I'm sure they won't miss me as a customer & I surely do not want this to happen to anyone else. read more

I'm generally satisfied with this Fry's store. Most employees are very friendly and helpful.....prices are competitive, and the store offers a wide array of everything. The only reason 4 or more stars weren't given is the deli. Pure unprofessionalism. I'm glad they finally came up with a numerical system, but that doesn't seem to have solved the wait. Often you can be standing there, and five employees behind the counter all have their backs turned to you, and seem totally unconcerned about serving you, or selling you anything. Usually a horrendous wait....sometimes 10 minutes or more with only 2-3 people in front of me. When (if) you finally get served, it's usually performed with a very indifferent, almost sour, attitude. Why they don't find deli employees with even a minimum of customer service acumen i'm not sure. I think the new store format and layout is outstanding, but the deli is still their one glaring problem. read more
