I have been going to Fuel Salon and Spa for many years. Always a great experience! I have been getting my haircut for a while by Ashley O'Nielle. She consistently cuts my hair the way I like it and gives great attention to detail! I recently had her color my hair after many years of growing it out, and she did a FANTASTIC job (see picture)! I went in with some idea of what I wanted it to look like, but told Ashley just to do whatever she thought would look good. I followed my stylist to her new position here at FUEL, first appointment this week. I've not decided if I will continue here. The space is airy and bright, despite being "garden level." (There is an elevator from the ground floor, so that's no problem.) Fixtures are comfortable and stylish. Parking is ample but shared with many other businesses, so it's likely one will need to walk a bit. There are only 3 disabled spaces for 3-4 businesses, so that will be a concern for me. I was unpleasantly surprised that my stylist had raised her prices. And I was shocked that I was charged tax on my visit--I've never seen tax on such a service. Or was it a credit card fee? I had an appointment with Ashley O'neil but she was late and not ready for my appointment. I waited over 20 mins and her assistant finally came over to tell me Ashley is still foiling her last client. Really disappointed, was hoping to get my hair done for the holidays but the stylist had terrible time management. A notice beforehand would have been nice if she knew she was running behind. I came in as a first-timer of the salon. I loved the vibe and openness of the space. It was very modern and refreshing. I had an appointment I made morning of and I was taken in pretty quickly. I had asked for high layers and some wispy curtain bangs. I liked that the styling and blow out was included, as that made it worth the time and visit. My stylist got me out super quick since I had to leave for class. She was cognizant of this and would ask to make sure I was good on time. I was ok with the finished product, but I was left wishing I didn't ask for layers or bangs. I think she made the bangs too thick and they've grown out a little awkwardly. I also didn't think the styling was anything special, I expected a bit more oomph since I was looking forward to a change. Instead I felt plain. Pretty, but plain. I was definitely not expecting a curling iron after the blow out. I wish she just used the rounding brush, but maybe it's on me for not speaking up. I was surprised that the stylist took payment from her phone right at the chair. It kind of removed me from relaxation since I usually expect to pay at a front desk on my way out as I leave a salon experience. Having the person who did my hair be the same to collect my money was a little awkward and dissociative, especially being in the same space. Anyway, I didn't get the vibe that I'd be welcomed back. The workers had a little bit of an uppity attitude but maybe that's just my perception. I don't see myself becoming a regular or anything. My stylist Kaylie refused to do my hair. It wasn't so much that we were miscommunicating, she was condescending. I told her I didn't understand what she was saying, and as she explained it she got irritated with me. I am neurodivergent and need things explained in detail to me. I told her she's the professional, and I'm not picky, and if what I was asking for couldn't be done, then do what she thinks is best. She refused to do my hair. From the second I sat in her chair, she told me there are other stylists there who do blonde and she didn't want to do my hair. This salon should not schedule new people online if they know they have stylists who won't do certain things. I was crushed leaving feeling like I had been chastened, and more importantly, I really need my hair done. UPDATE: I was fortunately able to get into another stylist today. She totally understood what I was asking for and knew how to do it. She talked with me and gave me suggestions and is now doing my hair. Had a great stylist here awhile back but she moved away. I'm sure there are other good stylists here but calling to book an appointment was frustrating. The person who answered the phone could not give me a price range for a haircut that she was sure of. I asked if it would be easier for me to book online and see what stylists charge there but she said the website doesn't have prices either. It's odd to me that clients can't know the price range for available services. This is a nice salon at a convenient location and our old stylist was great so we may try back another time. read more

Ashley SAVED my hair today following an impromptu home hair cut I decided I would (very unwisely) try out. Not only did she totally fix my mess but she left me with probably the best haircut I've ever had. One word- terrible. I had Kaley as my hairstylist and when I left the salon- my hair was absolutely butchered. I had asked for face framing and ended up with two layers of hair. One the length of my collar bone- the other way below my shoulders. Jill the manager did a terrible job addressing my concerns. I called and asked for another stylist to re-cut my hair or a refund. To this she responded that "Kaley offered me an opportunity to fix my hair so I should probably take it." I went back in to have it fixed and I am still highly unsatisfied, as it looks like I cut my hair myself. When I went back in Jill did not come over at all to ensure that it was fixed or I was happy with the services. EXTREMELY disappointed in the costumer service and experience here. Worst blowout I've ever had in my life. First, Sarah barely shampooed my hair. More like patted my head a couple of times with shampoo and then rinsed it. It looks and feels like I didn't get it washed at all. Then she blow dried my hair without a brush - literally just her fingers! And after about 5 minutes of doing that she put some sort of serum in my hair and was like "how does it look." Whaaat? I thought she was joking. I was like it's literally still wet. I had to ask her to finish drying it and to use a brush. She said "I thought you wanted it straight." Yes, but since when does anyone want to leave the salon with half wet hair! I don't think anyone would ever want that. She didn't even ask where I wanted my hair parted and the part she decided to give me was all crooked. I'm literally shocked at how bad this was. Then I had to pay the stylist directly so I can't even let anyone else at the salon know what a joke this is AND I have to leave at least a 20% tip because her little machine is set up for 20%, 25%, etc. My toddler could do a better job. Don't waste your time here. Just go to Drybar. read more

I was feeling a bit too brave recently and decided to partially bleach my own hair (think choppy diy money pieces lol)... which I couldn't get toned down and came out extremely brassy. I was really embarrassed but I am so glad I came in today, Forest did such an incredible job fixing my hair and restoring my confidence. Kind, professional, and absolutely knows what she's doing. Somehow she brought to life the thoughts I couldn't quite verbalize. The results came out so much better than I even hoped, for an excellent price. 11/10! read more

I was able to get an appointment for my daughter quickly, they were very upfront about pricing (which was very reasonable), and the salon felt upscale and welcoming. The haircut looks great and my daughter was super pleased with the results. When she's ready for another cut, we'll definitely go back. read more

I tried to give it a month, to let it grow out, but this is worst haircut I've ever had--about 10 inches shorter than what I asked for, choppy, makes me want to not leave the house. Not to mention completely unremarkable highlights that left my hair looking the same color/brightness as it did when I walked in. And I paid $300 for this butchery. Worst thing is, the person who did this to me is a nice person so I hate to complain. But I wake up every day and HATE the hair I see in the mirror, and can't afford another $300 to get it fixed. read more

I was running a few minutes late for a hair appointment due to heavy traffic. I gave the salon a call and spoke to a woman at the front desk stating I'd be about 10 minutes late. She put me on hold to go ask my stylist if that would be ok. She gets back on the phone to tell me my hair stylist (whom I've seen about 1 year now), will not have enough time to cut my hair and would like to reschedule for an appointment a few weeks out. Are you serious?! I was on my way there and was told to piss off. I emailed and left messages for Christine Boyles (Owner) about this situation and have not heard back. Absolutely useless. I had Courtney at the highlands ranch location. I asked for black with grey highlights. She saw the picture I showed her and asked if I wanted it as dark as the picture and I was very clear on yes I wanted it that dark and she even confirmed and said "black with gray highlights" she went and mixed the colors and I came out with lightish BROWN hair and blonde highlights. NOTHING like I asked for. Would not recommend. read more

Long story short, do not go to this salon. The staff is unprofessional and handled a situation with a stylist very poorly. After being left with horrible bleached hair, that needed major color correction, I am completely disappointed with this salon and how they operate and failed to take reresponsibility. Like previously mentioned, I was left with horrible looking hair that cost $400.00 elsewhere to get color corrected. I will say that I was given a refund, however, I am extremely disappointed by the salon, and how unprofessional the stylist was regarding the entire situation. My point of this is to not bash the stylist, hence why I am not using names, but rather help someone avoid a hair disaster such as the one I encountered. *The photos included are photos taken of my hair before the color correction that I got done at another salon for the use of before and after pictures by the stylist. read more

As a curly hair girl, I've had some good and not so good haircuts. Wednesday I had great from Adria! For the first time I didn't leave the salon feeling like I had to fix it when I got home. I had the Ouidad technique which is pricey but it is the going rate for this technique. I feel like Adria gets it. She was a good listener and she got my bangs the way I like them which sounds easy but you'd be surprised. If you have curly hair I recommend Adria and Ouidad. read more

I would not recommend going to Fuel. I have tried two different stylist and did not have good results. First time was for a blowout. Stylist left my hair flat & greasey. It was for a black tie event. Even though I paid extra to have it set, she used a curling iron. I left with the interior of my hair damp. Second time was for subtle highlights. It was a complete failure. After 3 tries and lots of money latter I went to another salon to mask mistakes that will need to grow out. Save yourself time & money and go somewhere else. read more

I love my new haircut! Everyone at the fuel salon was kind, welcoming, and friendly. Brenda took my pictures and instructions and combined with her suggestions gave me the exact haircut I wanted. I felt very comfortable asking for adjustments, which is usually difficult for me --especially at a new place. I also got my eyebrows waxed (I love that this place has so many spa services) and they turned out great too! I hadn't waxed them in years, and normally my skin gets very red for hours afterwards. Not here! I felt so fabulous after my appointment that I went shopping. I met her at JUA Salon in Cherry Creek and at the time I decided to go dark brown before I met her (I'm a natural blonde with wavy course hair) and she turned my hair beautifully back to blonde with patience and care. After she decided to move to Fuel Salon & Spa in Highlands Ranch- even though I live in Downtown Denver- I still book with Karen and make the drive.
