The first time I had a haircut there I opted for one of the "lower level" stylists for a more budget friendly cost. I actually had to return because one of the experienced stylists was cutting one side of my hair and someone who hadn't done that kind of cut before was doing the other side. So I came back and had the more experienced stylist do both sides and it came out terrific. I came back a second time and had my hair highlighted and added a bold color with a cut. I had so many compliments on it. It looked outstanding. The third appt went pretty good. Hair was not as outstanding as the previous time but still get compliments on it. However, I had an appointment for one of their specials to do a scalp treatment and a facial for $60. Unfortunately, that morning, I woke up with a very bad sinus headache and had to go into work late. So that I wouldn't lose money on my job, I decided I better work late so I had decided to cancel my appointment to keep the boss happy and wasn't sure when to rebook it. They told me I would have to pay double that $60 charge -- $120 for the regular price. This was pretty surprising and disappointing considering I had been very happy with the customer service I've received up until that point. All of the girls there have been very nice. After talking to my boss, she told me that I could go after all. I couldn't get through to anybody during lunch so when I finally got through to someone at 2 PM I was told that the appointment was filled, but that they were still going to try to charge me or that I couldn't come back to the salon for services. I felt like this was an unfair policy and that $120 is a very steep cancellation fee considering the special was for $60 and that's all the stylist would have made from me anyway. So at this point, I'm not sure I would recommend the salon or not sadly. I never knew they would charge me for canceling especially that much more than I was planning to play for the service.

The length is so complimentary and the highlights even hide the grays! Came for my cut and told her my previous experience/concern with hairdressers and showed her pictures of the cut I was interested in. My cut took a while, longer than expected. When she finished it was shorter than what I wanted, she stated she tried to get the cut length between two pictures I had showed her. Which is doing her own thing. She never talked me thru what she was doing. Actually, barely talked to me. Charge: $65. My hairstyle fell flat three days later and I realized there were no curtain bangs, like I requested; had another salon stylist look over my "cut". No layering around my face; I barely have any layer and parts are uneven. I called so that she can compensate or give me a credit for this $15 value cut, left a message, no return call. I have to get this corrected. I read that she is a master stylist with "years of experience". Just wasn't worth the money or time. She did offer to correct any imperfections before I left...why mess it up more if you can't cut if remotely correct the first time. Val is a great choice. My haircut however, is pretty uneven. I don't always wear my hair curly, so I asked for it to be washed/dried and then cut (so it's even when straight, which is more noticeable) and my stylist kinda laughed and said that was silly and pushed the Devacurl process. I'm really bummed that it looks funny straight now. All in all: if you always wear your hair curly, go for it. If not, they cut it before washing it, even if you had product in it and had it tied up, and cut as they see fit in this state, then fix it after washing. Makes for a fine curly cut. Not great straight one.
