Late post from January! I met a friend who frequently visits here for a birthday lunch. The brightly decorated ceiling was a welcomed sight on a cold, snowy day. We were warmly greeted and seated in an elevated booth. Not sure what to order, the waiter gave suggestions along with my friend. We split an order of vegetable gyoza and fried shrimp tempura. As of late I've been on a quest to find Japanese cuisine in the greater Indy area. Fuji Ramen is a really cute spot with fun decor. The food is all reasonably priced. Staff is quite friendly and welcoming. Service is excellent. I ordered the veggie stir fry and added chicken. The portion of the chicken was at least three times what I was expecting and very affordable! We also tried the chicken Yakitori which I enjoyed even more. Unfortunately they were out of shishito peppers and shiitake mushrooms. My husband had the Tonkotsu Ramen and loved it. He has spent time living in Japan so I trust his taste buds on this one. 1st time coming here. The staff was very nice and come to find out Yummy Bowl down the street owns this place. Since I like Yummy Bowl I knew the food was going to be good and fresh. I order a Noodle dish which they recommend. There is a chili sauce at the end of the table that gives the dish alot of flavor. Others order the soup which is huge. So I've had Fuji Ramen twice - once as takeout and once dining in. Both experiences were wholly fantastic. To begin, ordering ramen to go, I was so surprised at how they packaged up all of the dry ingredients outside the broth for you to mix on your own. It kept everything just the way I wanted. Dining in, the restaurant was super busy and the staff were seemingly overwhelmed but also very cheery. We were apologized to multiple times for waiting when the wait was nothing crazy. This time I went with the karage bowl and the amount of food I got was crazy. Half of it was filling already. They were very good. I ordered ramen with tempura shrimp. The broth was so rich and fragrant. Full of veggies with pickled radish, seaweed and egg. Such a beautiful dish! My buddy and I stopped here for lunch based on the high ratings. Wow was I happy we did. The place was empty as we came at a weird lunch time so we had our choice where to sit. The main dining room is really very well decorated and cute. The booths have little roofs and lanterns. And flags across them, it's really nice and clean. When we were picking drinks, although I am not a lemonade guy, the server presented it in such a way that both of us got the lemonade. It was smooth and not too bitter. We were surprised that it had cucumber in it but that really mellowed it out and made it amazing. For my meal I got the tonkatsu with pork belly and black garlic oil. The broth was so good I would have still enjoyed it with nothing else in it. This restaurant is a strong recommendation, it definitely deserves it's five stars. Go and eat there. read more

I visited Fuji Ramen on a Sunday afternoon and had a pretty good experience. I was sat immediately and receive my food quickly. The staff was helpful and seemed attentive to our needs, which was very appreciated. The inside was beautifully decorated and filled with a lot of Japanese inspired decorations. Ambiance: They put a lot of effort decorating this place with fake blossoms hanging from the ceilings, paper umbrellas, and little japanese signs and memoriabilia on the the walls. The various textures and slat walls of the booths actually do a great job of deadening noise so it's a very comfortable place to sit and have a conversation. The place is clearly run by chinese people though with mandarin music playing overhead and a mix of cantonese and mandarin being spoken by the staff. That said, staff were responsive, friendly, and food/drinks come out in a very timely fashion even with the place being about half-full. Food: The menu has a decent selection of ramens, izakaya (japanese pub) food, and some options from other genres including korean rice bowls and chinese milk teas. Karaage - They use whole piece dark meat with a good marinade but but their breading is almost all cornstarch which creates a fluffier breading that softens as it sits. I prefer a higher flour content with maybe even a second fry to create a drier crispier breading but my wife really enjoyed it. They do give you a large portion at least. 3/5 Pork Bao - Great bao and great pork. The only thing is they put in a leaf of lettuce that gets wilty from the steam and just dilutes the flavor. If they replaced the lettuce with maybe a pickled cucumber or green onion it would be perfect. 4/5 Tonkotsu Ramen - A solid ramen overall, the broth is little thinner than I would like but the general flavor is good. A dash more of soy and miso to up the umami and saltiness would make it better. The runny egg was runny, the noodles weren't overcooked, and they include plenty of toppings. Shout out to the chashu and pork belly which were perfectly tender and also generously portioned. 4/5 Spicy tonkotsu Ramen - A "medium" is enjoyably spicy, the heat builds as it goes but it is never overwhelming. They do add kimchi which is not a traditional topping, usually only a spicy chili or miso paste is added. 4/5 We did get thai tea and lemonade as part of the meal package and had no complaints there. Overall this is a decent place especially for Indiana. The ambiance, the service, and their generosity with portions/toppings is good and their pork belly/chashu toppings are genuinely excellent. Their broth is probably their weakest point and even then it's probably a A-/B+ broth. If you've been to bigger cities like New York or San Diego you might want to temper your expectations a little but if you're trying to scratch a ramen-itch on the west side this isn't a bad place to do so. read more

The interior is beautiful... think delicate woodwork, large family style wood tables, cozy booths, cherry blossoms, lucky cat flags and colorful paper umbrellas. Nicely done. The menu has a lot to offer with a multitude of ramen, including vegetarian broth and also a curry broth. You can also get stir fried noodles or donburi bowls. Loads of appetizers are also available as well as assorted skewers. and of course there is dessert. I opted for hot green tea, which unfortunately comes in a tea bag, but was quite tasty. I also ordered 2 skewers. One asparagus wrapped in bacon and the other chicken with scallions. Both were very tasty, especially the bacon wrapped asparagus... yumm for my main I chose the Shrimp Tempura ramen. Thankfully the shrimp are serves on the side so they remain nice and crunchy. The ramen bowl was very full with loads of noodles, the typical toppings and a delicious pork broth. I was unable to finish it all even so I tried. It was so very good. One of my guests had the chicken rice bowl and this dish was overflowing with large chunk of crispy chicken and more. A very generous serving. Another guest had the green tea mochi ice cream and enjoyed it very much. The service here is so sweet and accommodating also. The only flaw here is that getting back out of the parking lot, especially if you need to take a left turn out can be quite difficult, as Rockville Road is usually quite busy. My fiancé and I stopped in here for lunch on a Friday. Service was very friendly and the perfect amount of attentiveness. Our food came out so fast and everything was delicious. We ordered the bang bang shrimp for an appetizer and it was amazing. We both ordered the spicy lovers ramen - hot. It was so good! We like spice a lot so it could've been spicier even for us but we're not complaining. The ambiance was perfect. Not too loud and not too quiet either. We were sat in one of the little booths along the wall and it felt so private and it was adorable. Love the decor. Prices were great for the amount and quality. No complaints. This adorable little place went out of their way to make the atmosphere very nice and feel like a true Japanese restaurant. Lots of bamboo and low lighting with cute cats statues. We've eaten at Fuji Ramen three times in the past week - and can't wait to go again! The staff is absolutely incredible! They are friendly, patient, attentive, and very knowledgeable. The environment is so beautiful! I had to take a photo to share! The food has come out fairly quickly every time! We've tried quite a few items on their menu so far. We absolutely love the Karaage Chicken, Mixed Vegetables Noodle (Udon), Bao Bun (Chicken), & Yakitori (Any)! We've ordered the Yaro Milk Tea with Mango jelly each time. My daughter loves Ramen restaurants and I associate Ramen with the college days low budget breakfast, lunch and dinner meal. The decision was made to give this restaurant a shot knowing full well my daughter has been here, as she has most of the Indy Ramen places. The address this business is associated with has been several Asian type cuisines restaurants over the years and they all have been fairly decent. The location is just a tad odd because of the access in and out of the parking lot off of Rockville Rd. That being said it doesn't take away anything this restaurant has to offer. Upon entering the restaurant we were pleasantly greeted and was surprised at the new design and clean decor. The menu is straight forward and the prices seemed to be very fair. I went for the chicken with vegetable and Udon noodles. You have your choice of noodle style when you order the chicken, beef or shrimp and vegetable and noodle dinner. My daughter chose the miso ramen with chicken spicy. There is also table condiments available for dining in. I absolutely loved the simple sauerkraut. Whatever vegetable it was the flavor was delicious and there was nothing sour about it. I love all sauerkraut and this style was delightfully yummy. My chicken with vegetable and noodles needed zero seasoning as it was brought to the table perfectly seasoned. I did add some of the table side condiments because I do like some heat with my meal. I tasted my daughter's miso with chicken and it was very spicy as she ordered. The chicken was flavorful and cooked perfectly. I also ordered the pork belly appetizer that was super cheap and worth every penny. Next time I will order 5 of these! I usually eat all my food but I had to take some home and I was completely satisfied with the whole experience. The young lady and gentleman who were attending us made several visits to check on us and they kept our drinks full and made sure we were happy. The whole restaurant has been very awesomely decorated with a lot of Japanese decor. I've never been to Japan, but it made me feel like I was transported to it. Since this was our first time here, we tried several items. I started with a classic tea w/ Boba added. It was very good with perfect sweetness. Most places I've had Boba tea seem to over- sweeten them. I imagine you could have them adjust it if you prefer sweeter. We decided for an appetizer that we would get the fuji wings and the fried cheese wontons. For our meals, we got bang bang shrimp bowl and several of the yakitori items. Those are basically types of skewers cooked over charcoal. We tried the bacon wrapped quail eggs, bacon wrapped enoki mushrooms, and the pork belly. You cook taste the charcoal flavor which put them over the top. For dessert, I tried the green tea cheesecake, which is the best dessert I've had in years. This place is a great addition to Avon. My son and I tried this place after running errand in Avon. We were so pleasantly surprised at he atmosphere and service we received. The food was Excellent! I loved it so much that a week later when my daughter was driving me around for errand, I brought here to Fuji Ramen for lunch. My daughter, smiled, chatted with the staff, laughed and had such a great time there. I have not seen her so happy! All she could talk about is how much she loved her food. That same night, my daughter returned to bring her son for dinner. Two weeks later, my daughter chose Fuji Ramen as the restaurant where she wanted to celebrate her birthday! Again the staff was friendly, and the food was excellent. Even , my younger grandson, son, and DIL, who do not usually like to eat Asian type food, loved the meals were ordered. Now, about the food, the calamari, tempura shrimp, skewered chicken, goyza, any of the ramen dishes, and udon (vegetable and chicken) were Excellent!
