Ambiance: This is a nice place to sit and grab a bite. The interior is small but clean and decorated with Japanese stylings. The jazz playing over the speakers is not obtrusive and it's very easy to have a conversation comfortably. There is even a flat screen which was tuned to sports while we were there. Service and time for food to come out were both quick. Food: We had the Rock n Roll and King of Salmon specialty rolls, a crunchy spicy tuna hand roll, and the pork belly ramen. While everything that came out was very well plated and portioned, the flavors were only mediocre. The "ramen" is a clear Chinese [chicken] broth with fairly standard noodles but dressed up with crispy pork belly and a hard boiled egg. If you're expecting a rich bone broth, runny egg, or chewy ramen noodles, you will be sorely disappointed. Aside from the mislabeling, however, the dish itself has a nice light and clean flavor with the pork belly adding a nice textural element. The sushi was better with well defined rice texture, quality seaweed used for the rolls, and nice ratios of the different ingredients. The fish itself was only of OK quality. The Rock n Roll was mostly the mashed spicy tuna and avocado which was fine but it was a little drowned in yum yum sauce. The King of Salmon roll had nice solid pieces of salmon and tuna inside which were good however the topping pieces were ragged looking and had a mushy texture (see pic below). Overall our experience here was serviceable. I'd say it's good enough to satisfy a sushi craving but if you're looking for authentic or artisanal, you're better off looking elsewhere. read more

I ordered a pot of hot green tea to drink and I had the sashimi lunch - 10 pieces of sashimi that come with miso soup and salad. I also ordered gyoza as an appetizer. The soup was good, not terribly flavorful but perfectly acceptable as a starter for the meal. The salad was very fresh and crisp, served with the usual orange ginger dressing. The dressing was very good and just the right amount. The gyoza was excellent, perfectly pan-fried (as it should be), delicate and with a nice dipping sauce on the side. The sashimi was served without rice - two slices each of five different types of fish. It was fresh and not fishy, but flavorful. Love the ramen here! This is in a large strip mall area off of smith valley & 135. I always order the ginger tea and usually, the ramen but this time I ordered the Pad Thai. The dish had a sweetness that I didn't love but didn't make it unappealing. My daughter ordered her regular chicken katsu ramen and dove in with reckless energy. My family and I had an impromptu visit to Green Ginger and were pleasantly surprised. When we arrived, we found it to be a popular spot, as there was only one table available; but, thankfully, we didn't have a long wait. Our server was excellent - she was friendly, attentive and checked on us often. For an appetizer we ordered the spicy Edamame which was delicious! It was my first time having Edamame spicy, and I loved the kick to it. We also ordered a Dynamite Roll - it tasted great! The sushi was fresh, full of flavor and had the perfect blend of ingredients. For my entrée I went with the Ramen (Pork Belly) - I would definitely order this dish again... it was packed with delicious ingredients and was very satisfying. I wasn't a fan of the lettuce that was included, but that's just personal preference. My wife also ordered Ramen, which she equally enjoyed, and my daughter went with the Chicken Teriyaki (served with Miso Soup, Green Salad and Rice). A friend recommended this spot as one to try, so we met up for their lunch specials. Once you enter they have you sit at any table, and the menu is via a QR code. They have lunch specials as well as an all day menu. We chose something from their lunch menu which came with miso soup and a small side salad. My avocado, asparagus and cucumber rolls were nice and tidy. I felt the price was a bit high for the size of the rolls, but I enjoyed them and they had a nice freshness in taste. I also ordered some Thai veggie curry for dinner as a take away, and was pleasantly surprised by the flavor. It wasn't a big portion but had ample veggies which I appreciated. Switched things up from my usual thai place because this was right next to Club Pilates and conveniently located for me to grab something. Honestly, it wasn't all that great. I was excited to try this restaurant as a huge fan of ramen, and most places in this area really miss the mark with that dish. Unfortunately this restaurant is very much the same in that regard. The restaurant is VERY well decorated and the atmosphere is extremely welcoming. Honestly, this is the best decorated Asian restaurant in the area. The squid salad was delicious, lightly sauced, and served over some shredded cabbage that soaked up any excess sauce and became its own delicious little salad. The ramen... Was bad. It was BEAUTIFULLY plated. It looks so exciting, and then... It is so bland. I ended up dumping significant amounts of soy sauce into it, attempting to make it taste like something I wanted to eat. I'm not even a huge soy sauce fan. Then, the egg, which was beautifully soft boiled in photos on their website, was fully hardboiled. The service was quick, but with no paper menus and a waitress who did not speak English, it was tough to order without a menu to point at. Made a return trip to Green Ginger this past weekend. It was delicious as usual. We had three rolls, Money Green, Rainbow and Brazil. We had not tried the Brazil Roll before and it did not disappoint. What was especially sweet was that the server remembered us (even though it has been months since we had been there) and said "Oh, you are getting the "usual"!" It was nice that she remembered us after so many weeks. I recommend Green Ginger to everyone I talk to who enjoys good sushi. I had a very pleasant visit to Green Ginger. It is conveniently located on Smith Valley Rd in a cute little shopping center next to Orange Theory. I met some friends there for a little mommy's night out. It was perfect for our little group of four; probably wouldn't recommend it for larger groups. It's a very intimate space and a larger group would probably overtake the space. Our server was very friendly and helpful. I didn't see her very much during our dinner service, but that could've been due to the fact that we were all talking and she wanted to give us our space. That's fine. I ordered the King Salmon based on some reviews and recommendations from my fellow Yelpers and miso soup. I expected there to be a layer of salmon over top of my sushi, like I had seen in a few pics, but there wasn't much added salmon to mine-but no biggie. I know when you order sushi sometimes the chef will change it up a bit, so that's no big deal. Although the fish was really fresh, it didn't have much flavor to it. The rolls fill you up due to quantity but, in my opinion it wasn't great tasting. But just my opinion. My friend really enjoyed their fried rice-which gives me something to look forward to trying at my next visit. And they offered a chicken tempura, which is a first for me. I love that idea. So now I can invite my no-sushi-eating-friends to a place that offers chicken sushi. So will probably be checking it again, maybe not in a hurry, but will check it out. My biggest issue (sort of speak) is the price. I paid $20 for one roll and soup. Usually in Indy I pay that to include gratuity; so that was a little high for what I ordered. Green ginger is a great sushi option in Greenwood. The menu is very large. If you are dining in, you will definitely find something to tempt you. I've had several of the sushi rolls, and they have all been fresh, filling, and flavorful. If you want takeout, the sushi deluxe is the way to go here. It comes with a chefs choice of sushi, so you get a little bit of everything without having to pay for separate rolls. It also comes with soup and a little ginger salad, so it is more than enough for a meal. I have had to wait longer than expected several times at this location, but it is worth it to me. Another plus: crumbl cookies is right next door, so if you want something sweet to go with your dinner, it is easily accessible. This will continue to be my go-to sushi spot in Greenwood. read more

Nice little spot in the Smith Valley Center in Greenwood. don't let the bland exterior fool you, it's is very nicely decorated on the inside. Very cozy, good for a family night as well as a date night. Service is very friendly, but there were a few little communication problems, but they were all resolved more or less. I recommend to try and speak clearly and pronounce your words carefully, that helps. The food here is great. I ordered the dinner box with shrimp teriyaki, yeah I'm not that big on sushi. Anyway, we first were greeted with small plates of some sort of spicy pickles. Very tasty... With my dinner I received a Miso soup and a small salad with ginger dressing. Dinner itself came with 2 Korean scallops, Tempura fried veggies (included sweet potato, taro root, zucchini and a carrot), a California roll, sushi rice, broccoli, and the shrimp teriyaki... The shrimp were plentiful and large, sauteed with onions in teriyaki sauce. A beautiful delicate flavor. Absolutely worth the money. I am not really sure what everybody else had, but I do remember smiling faces, satisfied grunts around the table and many comments on the quality and quantity of the food served. My first sushi experience was in southern California with some good friends who know what they're doing and wouldn't let me stray into questionable territory. Being so close to the ocean there, I was trained to be skeptical of Midwest sushi, as we clearly don't have a method for fresh items. But I'm happy to report you can pass on the skepticism here - at least for my meal. Luckily my first time here was during a slow period - right at the beginning of their dinner hours and before an impending snow storm, so not many people were out and about - especially to go out for dinner. The store is part of a newly remodeled shopping area, and is relatively small - definitely not a place you want to bring a really big group. Some tables are arranged in the main area, the sushi bar in the back, and then a long bench along the wall with some 2 and 4 seater tables that could potentially be arranged to accommodate a large group or two. Service was great, but with only 6 or so people in the restaurant I would certainly hope so. The Melody Roll was perfect - it's a specialty roll that's cooked, so certainly a good starter if you either have never had sushi or if you just don't trust your own judgement. My only complaint is that I wish there was a more visual menu -- or even if Yelpers could caption their photos so we could see what it is. This was an okay visit. We sat for nearly 10 minutes before we met our server. They have a nice variety on the menu. The tempura veggies/seafood are very good. The gyoza and crab puffs (Rangoon) are not very good. Tom Yum soup lacks that familiar tang. My husband and I ordered some sushi to share, which the server was clear on. Each roll came out on its own plate at varied times. The were loosely rolled and unevenly cut. Like, a lot unevenly cut. The same roll had 1/2 inch slices and 1-1/2 inch slices. None of the rolls were exciting with flavor. Just all very "meh." No issues with freshness as the fish seemed fine. The Thai Curry was a hit, with the veggies in it being tempura fried. Very unique and delicious. Entrees for 5 people came out at different times, one was just raw fish and it took the longest. Tempura cheesecake was wildly delicious. The worst part was that we were seated near the end of the hallway that lead to the restrooms (I assume.). We lived with a putrid smell all night. It was like a pile of dirty diapers and was very offensive. We couldn't relocate because there were 5 of us and no place to go in the small restaurant. read more
