[[HIGHLIGHT]]Spacious restaurant with extensive happy hour menu but food misses the mark.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We came on a Tuesday for the happy hour menu. A lot of options to choose from, with decent discounts off the main menu. We got the ryokucha berry cocktail and kitaku suru. Both were definitely on the sweeter side of cocktails, but decent. We ordered a number of things off the happy hour menu. Sushi quality wasn't the best. Reminiscent of supermarket sushi. The brussels sprouts were pretty good but very salty and eventually very heavy. The kalbi fries tasted exactly like we expected, also nothing crazy. We also got the cod taco and the poke taco to try. Both fairly bland. Overall, the menu is extensive but food quality and taste were just okay. Service was great though, our server was super nice and the food came out really fast. Probably wouldn't come back but maybe worth once just for happy hour.

Came here on a Monday and the street food was half off. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place is pretty big and has a ton of seating so I did not have to wait, plus the food came out quick.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Macadamia shrimp: B+ Karaage: C+ Tuna temaki: C Pork/veg gyoza: C+ Garlic salmon: C Out of the dishes I tried I mostly only liked the macadamia shrimp. The tuna and salmon were both quite bland. And the karaage was bland as well. Service was attentive and checked on me so that was good, and the space is pretty large. But I wasn't impressed with the food quality.

I have fond memories of frequently coming to the Fuji's that was previously located in this very same building with my family. So while this Fuji's is not at all related to the original business, I was excited to try the food here. I tried the box with vegetable tempura and salmon misoyaki. The food tasted good and I thought the batter was good on the tempura. I was however shocked at the portion of salmon they give. It was maybe five bites worth of food, and I was not full after eating my meal. They did provide a good size serving for the children's meal though, which balanced out my unhappiness I felt after receiving my meal. I also ordered the matcha pancakes off the brunch menu; it was not cooked. I could tell upon cutting it and the batter sticking to the knife that it likely wasn't cooked. I tried, and sure enough, uncooked...guess I should've informed the staff at the time but my little one wasn't happy so I just wanted to eat and get out. Based on the look of the pancakes, it appeared to just be a regular pancake with some matcha powder mixed in - so nothing special and something you could easily do at home. While service was overall friendly, they left us sitting for a very long time while they coint have more than a couple other tables. They had to be flagged down for us to order. They also forgot things to bring things (rice, miso soup) out that came with the dish. I think a 3.5 rating would be fair, but I guess I'm feeling generous. I would come back, but not in a hurry (and would not order the tiny, tiny salmon serving again. Or the uncooked pancakes).

Craving something hot and delicious on these cold fall nights, the husband and I spontaneously ordered from Fuji's. Venturing the cold, we picked up a to-go order of the hot udon, sukiyaki, and pickled veg. We sped home and dove headfirst into our soups. Yum, yum, and YUM! The sukiyaki broth was to die for and the tsukemono was so refreshing. The husband loved his udon. The restaurant was quick, friendly, and professional. So glad we decided to try Fuji's and we'll be back for sure!

My family and I rented out the top private floor area for a birthday party on Saturday night for about 50 people. It was my first time ever checking out Fuji Sacramento and I was really impressed by the interior and how organized everything was for a private party. We had food served buffet style with salad, green beans, Gyoza, Chicken Katsu, white rice and 2 different types of sushi. Everything was pretty good - no complaints except that they don't use any kind of warmers or chaffing dishes which I thought was odd. We also did a cash bar and they had Japanese beers as well as these really good hard ciders. The bartender did a great job and was very friendly! Staff were very accommodating and helpful when planning everything for the whole evening. They made all of the details smooth and easy! I would definitely recommend Fuji for a private event and I would love to come back soon for dinner and try other food items. Check them out!

We attended a private event in the upstairs banquet room. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Decor is rather plain but we were there for a celebration so it didn't really matter.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The servers were accommodating especially with those needing extra assistance. The food was great. We started off with apps which consisted of sashimi and California roll w/unagi. Yum to the max. For dinner we had salad, gyoza, veggies, teriyaki chicken and salmon. The gyoza had a great filling but I wish it was warm. The teriyaki chicken was full of flavor and very tender. The salmon on the other hand was out of this world! My only recommendation would be to use chaffing dishes to keep the food a lil warm but since most of it can be eaten at room temperature as if in a bento box it all worked out well. Will I visit again? Most definitely, highly recommend.

Fuji's has reopened on Broadway, and I gave it a try today. The dining area and bar looks good. Seating is comfortable, and I had the lunch combo, starting with miso soup, and lunch included two choices. I chose sesame chicken and vegetable tempura. It also came with rice, two gyoza, and two pieces of California roll. I really like the seamed chicken, with a crispy batter and moist chicken inside. Could use more sauce for flavor though. The tempura , gyoza and California roll were also good, and very fresh. The miso soup was good, but more sodium than the usual. I will definitely come back because it looks like they have a great happy hour and they have loco moco on the menu. Our server, John, was great!!! I'll be back soon.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]The perfect date night dinner spot in an ambiance that's modern, relaxing, and fun.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service was a 10 catering to our every foodie desire. We enjoyed happy hour that I believe runs until 6 pm. So you get that opportunity to try different things if it's your first time like us. The food was absolutely fresh, flavorful. The chicken can I say the most tender perfection I have ever had from the karaage to the sesame chicken. The drinks were perfect. We ordered the following: Chicken karaage Sesame Chicken Garlic green beans Dynamite Spicy Tuna Drinks: Ryokucha Berry House Hot Sake

Good food, great services. It's small intimate atmosphere. Small menu selection but satisfying. Sushi is super fresh! There is some street parking and a parking lot across the street.

Met some coworkers for happy hour and had a great time. The sushi was great and so was the calamari. But the fries and sparking wine was chef kiss. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The staff was funny and loved the friendly atmosphere at the bar[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Friday's happy spot for today is Fuji's Sacramento. I am guessing this spot is related to the Fuji's that was a Sacramento land mark on Florin Rd for decades. Fuji's occupies the old Iron Grill spot on Broadway. Fuji's happy hour is quite impressive because most of the regular menu is included. We tried the calamari $11, lumpia $8, honey macadamia shrimp $13, truffle brussels $9, Spider Roll $14 and the Rainbow Roll $9. From the bar we had the Berry drink and the margarita $10 ea. I think all their fried appetizers are frozen. The honey macadamia shrimp were house made but the flavor was lacking. However the sushi and truffle Brussels were excellent. The drinks were tasty and strong aa well. Our server/bartender Joe sad his fav appetizer is the ribs so we are looking forward to ordering them on our next visit.

    Gigi J.

The macadamia nut shrimp was what drew me here, the "street foods" were very appealing so I went with the kali tacos and truffle fries. Then I felt like I had to try sushi in a sushi restaurant so I tried a few nigiri. Glad I didn't order the chirashi bc i would've been disappointed. The nigiri alone was ok but I could tell the rice to fish ratio was not the way I liked it and the rice was more on the mushy side lacking in flavor I'm used to. So while this place looks to be primarily a sushi place, it'll be my go-to street food place. Will certainly make the most of half off street foods Mondays and $2 taco Tuesdays. Think I'll tread lightly with the sushi, there are just too many other sushi places i prefer the quality of over this place. Super cute! Cozy two-seater lounge area alongside the bar, love that!! I'll always sit there!! Joe was sweet and welcoming.

We were wanting to try someplace Japanese to reminisce Tokyo & this place hit a lot of the nostalgia out of the park! It's very neat and tidy with beautiful ethnic decor, an umbrella storage basket at the front, amazing kind and accommodating staff, tasty food (with my personal favorite being the dynamite roll), and nice ambiance with Japanese and American music. I'm not sure if it's standard but we both ended up getting a miso soup to start, which was perfectly warm and seasoned on a rainy Sacramento afternoon. Both drinks we got were super tasty. Definitely planning on coming back here :) everything was affordable and they even had their $10 per roll special since it was Thursday!!! Not giving the 5th star because the food taste didn't quite hit that Japan threshold but let's be honest little to no places in the US quite meet their standard :')

I tried their sukiyaki set, both wagyu and seafood. I wish they had given some instructions on the approach or order I should eat the sets of food. It was a little chaotic trying to figure out how I could submerge all the ingredients in the broth so they would cook evenly. The tempura is perfectly crispy, but the rice was a little brittle and got dried really fast. The texture was more like Vietnamese broken rice, and it caught me off guard because when I tried their sushi a while ago, they used very high-quality rice. As is typical with sukiyaki, the broth becomes very flavorful at the end, absorbing all the flavors from high-quality ingredients, but my udon got a little dry while waiting. Since I tried both set, the wagyu sukiyaki broth became a little too sweet at the end. My favorite is definitely the seafood sukiyaki broth. Would I try these pricy sukiyaki again? Probably not. Would I go back to Azayaka again? 100%. This would not discourage me from going back there any amount.

I brought family in from the Bay Area to Chef Frank's, and it did not disappoint. The ambiance strikes that perfect balance--chill and casual, yet still elevated enough for a special occasion. We kicked things off with a mix of plain and spicy edamame, followed by two orders of my husband's favorite shrimp tempura and three orders of my go-to rainbow roll. Everything came out fresh and beautifully presented. A particularly special moment--my 88-year-old father made the trip to Sacramento after seven years (his first visit since my mom passed) and he truly enjoyed the beef/salmon bento box. That alone made the night meaningful. The hostess was exceptionally engaging--personable without being overbearing--and guided us through the sake menu like a seasoned sommelier of umami. Her thoughtful recommendations led us to a beautiful tasting journey featuring three types of sake: * A classic hot sake for comfort, * A crisp cold sake imported from Japan, and * A smooth and unexpected bottle from Vernon, CA (yes, Vernon--who knew?). Although the tall glasses were emblazoned with Orion Beer branding, we stuck to the sake. No regrets. What We Ate -- A Love Letter to Flavor Every dish was visually stunning and bursting with freshness. Here's what we devoured: * Truffle Hamachi Carpaccio: Thin slices of hamachi bathed in a rich truffle soy, topped with microgreens and salmon roe. Silky, aromatic, and sublime. * Shishito Peppers: Perfectly blistered and dusted with spice. A simple dish that delivered big on smoky flavor. * Sake Nigiri & Tobiko Gunkan: The sake (salmon) nigiri was melt-in-your-mouth fresh, and the tobiko gunkan had just the right briny pop. Clean, classic, perfect. * Negihama Roll: Yellowtail and scallion in delicate harmony--refreshing and elegant. * Spicy Tuna Roll: A fiery flavor bomb, dusted generously with shichimi. Spicy but well-balanced. * Jade Roll: Wrapped in seaweed salad and sesame, this one was fresh, crunchy, and full of herbaceous notes. A standout roll. * Cucumber Sunomono: A palate cleanser and a beautiful contrast to the richness of the fish. Light, crunchy, and seasoned just right with sesame. Ambiance Kumi Sushi's atmosphere is refined but intimate--dim lighting, soft jazz playing in the background, and warm wood tones throughout. It's got date-night vibes without trying too hard. Final Verdict Kumi Sushi is everything you want in a neighborhood sushi spot--just elevated. Thoughtful service, stunning presentation, fresh ingredients, and a sake list that deserves its own night. Whether you're a seasoned sushi snob or just looking for a delicious evening out, this place delivers. 11/10 would truffle hamachi myself into oblivion again. Highly recommended.

I hope this restaurant does well but ever since Aura left, this spot has been a revolving door. The staff are incredibly friendly and warm. The decor is a bit more modern than other places before it, especially considering the age of the building itself. Also a note, they do take Apple Pay but they do not take American Express. Offerings: - Volcano Roll: Such a fun and entertaining spectacle. The roll itself is simple and a bit one note, but still delicious. - Snow White Roll: A very simple roll, with less of all the sauces and extra toppings. The flavor of fish and rice really shine through here. Delicious! - Master Roll: exactly what you expect for an Americanized sushi restaurant. Covered in sauces and includes so many great textures and flavors.

First time here and we loved (almost) everything. The location is the old capital aquarium where I…read morehave gone to shop for salt water fishes, so quite appropriate for sushi! Loved 1. Sake (Salmon) Nigiri was excellent in freshness, presentation, and extra effort preparation. The rice is unique too. Great quality overall 2. Hamachi Kama was fresh and comes with a nice side salad. The dip was great and I asked for a side of daikon (which is common for this dish, but you will have to ask for it here). 3. Bento box was excellent with chicken katsu and sesame chicken Meh 4. Crab fried rice... oddly includes crunchy bits of rice (none of us liked that element). Crab was fresh, but the dish tasted very oddly bland. We will be back to try more of their dishes with our great first experience.

The interior has been redone, and it feels lighter and a little bit more Restaurant. As a heads up, they've only been open for about 7/8 months and don't really have an established happy hour yet, but I understand that they are working on creating one! They have a pretty extensive sushi menu, and you may get lost in all of the choices, and there are many delicious ones that I definitely want to go back and try! One of my Foodie friends, and I decided to start out with the spicy edamame. It definitely would not be a choice for either one of us. We found that the edamame was not completely boiled, and the spicy seasoning while poured on top, definitely would've been more enjoyable if the edamame had time to marinate in it. Overall, we didn't really care for its flavor or spice level. The assorted tempura was pretty tasty! The batter is light, and the veggies and shrimp are delicious. The dipping sauce was pretty mid-level and I would've enjoyed something with more flavor and something that would've enhanced the tempura. The Hinoka roll was larger than I anticipated, which is always a good thing, and I ordered this based on the recommendation of the waitress. The roll was mid-level. Not absolutely fabulous, but not horrible either. They are very light handed on the sauce on top of the rolls, and I did request some Unagi sauce, which definitely helped to elevate the flavor profile We both loved the way the Nigiri was presented, and definitely made for fun conversation. The Nigiri is pricey, and was tasty. Naoki definitely should be given grace since they are newer. The staff is pretty attentive, and I'm hoping that they find their groove in our community They have their own parking lot with free parking, which is always a plus when you're in or near the downtown/Midtown area. Check them out and don't forget to order the tempura!

This is a cute lithe restaurant. Simple. Upon arrival.... Pros 1) we got parking right away. 2) restaurant looked clean. Our table, chairs, plates, cups looked clean. We were the only one there at first. 3) waitress was very nice and smiling. I love warm welcomes. She seated us right away, gave us menus and brought water for us pretty quick. 4) water tasted good. No funky taste. 5) Mixed tempura, Miso soup, New York Steak teriyaki, Zig zag roll were all very good. 6) our waitress checked in on us and ensure we had water refill. I appreciate that. We all did. It was hot today. 7) bathroom was clean. 8) wall decors are cute. 9) there's music, but low enough that we could talk and hear each other, but loud enough that we can hear the music. Cons 1) none Conclusion We liked this little restaurant. We gotta try the soups next time we go there. We only encounter our waitress and she was very nice. Didn't get to talk to the sushi chef. Foods good, water good, restaurant clean, bathroom clean, plenty of parking. Menu have dessert, but we didn't get any. Was pretty full. Go try this place if you're in this area.

I was referred to the owner Vinh who handled the situation with such care and understanding. He was extremely apologetic and offered to take care of the bill along with another generous offer. I was blown away by his generosity and consideration in wanting to make things right. I've always appreciated the fresh sushi, reasonable prices, & hospitality, but getting to interact with the owner and having that great of an experience really sealed the deal. Thank you again for excellent service. Please do yourself a favor and check out this wonderful restaurant. They will not disappoint! I typically order takeout but their dining room is very nice, clean and inviting. I would love to dine in next time.
