My family and I were in the area checking out Spirit Halloween and decided to check out Pier 50 Sushi for some lunch. Pier 50 Sushi is located at the Arden Fair Mall next to California Pizza Kitchen and Barnes and Noble. We heard great things about it and we're excited to check it out! The inside was modern with low lighting and lots of tables - this location used to be the old Mukuni's so it is very big inside. We did not do their AYCE option as we weren't starving, but we did try and order a few items that would give us a good idea of how their food tasted overall. We ordered Miso Soup, Spicy Garlic Edamame, Monkey Brains, Chicken Katsu, Chicken Nuggets and the Brian roll. Everything came out hot and fresh - we really liked the Miso Soup, Spicy Garlic Edamame and Chicken Katsu. The sushi wasn't our favorite, but we know that is a personal preference! They had a ton of other rolls on the menu that I'm sure we would like much better! Arrived early for opening and was super excited to try this place out for the first time and for my bday. The interior was fancy and a nice vibe, but lighting is a bit too dark for me to be able to see the menu clearly, and also because there was a lot of glare on the menu from the led lights above. I ended up using their menu from online on my phone instead. It was a struggle ordering because there's so many options and hard to remember what I already ordered or not. Also, the quantity part was confusing and the waiter ended up getting it wrong a few times so we ended up short but then later with too much of certain items. (It would be cool if we could order through an iPad system instead for these types of AYCE places) As for the food, the rice to fish ratio for the nigiri was a good balance, there's not too much rice. I like the nigiri over the sashimi because it gets too overwhelming eating so much fatty fish without rice. The fish itself was okay this time, some tasted too cold/bit hard, like it didn't fully defrost enough. I love raw scallops but these were not it for me. For one- I was the first seated and couldn't order until the rest of my group got there because we all had to order the same thing.. as in we all had to do the "all you can eat" and I couldn't order anything different. Two- the bill came out to $135 for 3 people, and we barely ate Three- you can't take any food to go. If you do, it's an extra $3 for a box to go. My coworker picked this spot for our team building lunch. They offer an all you can eat sushi at a price you cant beat for lunch and they have a seperate menu for non sushi lovers. We love the food and atmosphere but unfortunately the service needs a lot of work. I joined the waitlist for 2 online on a Friday night and requested to be sat in the lounge. Our table was ready in a timely manner, however as we were walking to our table another hostess walked a couple FROM THE DINING ROOM to our reserved table and said she was seating them there. So we unfortunately had to sit in the dining room. As we sat with our menus, no one came to greet us for about 15 minutes. Our waitress (whom I will not name) finally greeted us and took our order. We ordered nigiri and sashimi with some appetizers and it came out in a timely manner. Unfortunately, the order was wrong. We waited for her to come by to reorder but we didn't see her for about 20 minutes, when she finally came out we tried to wave her down twice and she didn't even look in our direction. Thankfully another waiter saw us and gave us service. At the end of our meal, I wanted to use rewards from the restaurant app to apply to our bill. She redeemed the reward but did give me points for the meal. I brought my Fukumi Restaurant Group Dine Around Passport (April 2026-September 2026) for a stamp too. My first time at a Pier 50, though I've been to ITS SUSHI before. They also have three tiers of AYCE courses, and similar menu items but I think at Pier you can actually do AYCE sashimi and not just nigiris! This visit we did Course A and mostly stuck to half-orders of sushi rolls and dessert: Rainbow, Alaskan, Sun of the Beach, Washington, Lemon Salmon, Henry, Brian, Salmon Lover, Shrimp Lover, Alligator, Japanese Lasagna #1, Crazy, Fake Caterpillar, Baked Alaskan, green tea ice cream and lychee sherbet. I've dined here numerous times, mainly because of the Passport promotion they offer. The location is spacious and works well for both small gatherings and larger parties. I like how Pier 50's menu is similar to It's Sushi, while still offering different items as well. One of my favorites here is the spicy Korean ramen -- the noodles have a great texture, and the broth is flavorful as well. My husband enjoyed it so much he ordered two bowls! Normally, we would order udon at other locations. They also offer both sashimi and nigiri options, whereas It's Sushi mainly focuses on nigiri. The fish tastes fresh, although personally, I wish the slices were cut a little smaller and thinner. They have a wide selection of rolls available in either half or full orders, which is nice. I usually try to avoid rolls though, since I don't want to fill up on too much rice. The service is pretty standard overall, and I haven't had any bad experiences here. read more

This location used to be a Mikuni's...but they did the place good. The interior decoration of the place is quite nice and comfortable to the eyes. We were greeted and seated within 5 minutes of our arrival. It took a while before our server came to take our drink orders. In fact, it was quite a while that we already had our orders ready for him to take, asides from the drinks we wanted. There was a lot of people dining that day, and the staff were few and far between. The food was great. And from the time we placed our orders, it did not take long for the orders to arrive. It was an all-you-can-eat option that we took, so whenever the staff came by our table, we placed our next order, or have to wait a little longer because of the staff shortage. But in spite of having less, the staff did cope with serving the tables. My commendation to all of them on duty that day! Back for a 2nd time at one of my new favorite AYCE sushi restaurants! You can pick between 3 different AYCE courses; my family and I got Course A, the most basic tier, but it was definitely far from basic! They have a wide selection of rolls, appetizers/hot foods, noodles, and even items I've never seen on an AYCE menu like sushi burritos and poke nachos. The sashimi and nigiri menu items are only included in Course B and C. I loved that we could get half or full servings of the rolls, so we were able to try sooo many by sticking to half portions. My favorite rolls were the XYZ, Jay, Japanese Lasagna #2, and Popcorn Shrimp. Any of their classic rolls can also be made into hand rolls. The ingredients were fresh and good quality. Each person gets one dessert menu item, which is only ice cream/sorbet for Course A, but it was sufficient. No pictures on the menu, so hopefully these pictures help. Service was wonderful--we never felt like we were waiting too long to order or to receive our rolls, and our waiter checked in on us regularly. The interior also had a really nice aesthetic. One of the best AYCE sushi buffets I have been to! You get unlimited nigiri AND sashimi here as well as a variety of rolls. You can order half rolls or full rolls and their take on different versions of salmon/tuna nigiri was very impressive and unique! There are different combos you can choose from, though Combo B is the perfect sweet spot for sashimi, nigiri, and rolls. The only missing component I would say is the lack of pictures which makes it a bit difficult to visualize what the roll looks like. I also wished there were desserts that we could order multiple of (as you currently only get one). Nevertheless, this was an amazing dining experience with fast service and very kind staff. Even when we maxed out on the limited items but one item was mistakenly delivered with missing pieces, they generously gave us more and an extra premium item! Pier 50 is a Japanese restaurant, but also so much more. It features an extensive menu of many other Asian items. The way you select food here is a bit out of the ordinary. The menu is divided into 3 tier. You can basically get all-you-can-eat of the first tier for the least expensive price or add each other tier for a gradual increase in price. The first tier already has a huge amount of items, so unless you see things you really want from the upper two tiers, sticking with the first tier is probably fine for most people. If you don't want to do all-you-can-eat, you can also just select food off of their menu à la cart with the pricing listed per item. I was really shocked when the items we selected from the first tier started arriving. The portions are BIG! Though this is an all-you-can-eat place, it's not buffet style. You basically tell the servers what you'd like and they will bring it out when it is ready. Because it's not a buffet, you can't really portion out the exact amount of food you want - you have to just get what is served out. The items were all full size. For example, we got a dragon roll and expected maybe 4-5 smallish pieces to come to the table. Nope. It was a full-sized dragon roll that you might expect to get from a legit dine-in Japanese restaurant. This was pretty much the same for everything else. So we expected all-you-can eat portions, but they gave us regular dine-in sizes! This is great if you are a big eater and can handle all that. I personally would rather things be scaled down so that I can eat a little of all the things I'd like. The overall food ranged from good to great. For an all-you-can-eat place, the quality was surprisingly high. But because of the size of everything, I got full pretty fast and couldn't finish some of the things I had gotten on my very first order. If you're into getting your fill at an AYCE place, Pier 50 is a great choice. The restaurant is nicely furnished and the servers were all extremely pleasant and helpful. read more

My boyfriend and I decided to come to the one in Arden instead of the one in Folsom. Which was a big mistake because the Folsom one tasted way better . The service here is good they always refilled the water fast and brought out the food fast . The serve always came at the right moment and asked us if we wanted more food. Normally at others all you can eat restaurants you have to flag them down to order more . The reason I am giving it a 3 star is because the roll didn't taste good to me it was kind of bland . I feel like it needed more sauce and fish on top. There were pretty skimpy about the fish on top and it was filled with too much crab salad. It felt like I was eating a California roll. The potato croquette was so good I could eat that all day . I ordered more rolls than the pictures I took. I wasn't a fan of any of them to be honest. It's better to get course b and it comes with the nigiri. Normally for pier 50 in Folsom they don't skimp out on the fish. Maybe it was a bad chef that day who knows . The poke salad was gross I had to force myself to eat that. It was lacking flavor and do they really have to squish it all in a bowl ? By the time I can finish it the chips are all soggy from the poke sauce. For dessert I got lychee ice cream and it came with pieces of jelly inside. Not sure if I will go back to this location. We ordered right away since we knew what we wanted. We did course B which included the nigiri/sashimi options. They have a huge menu of appetizers, rolls, nigiri/sashimi, burritos, and salads. I got a party of four looking for AYCE sushi in the area on a Sunday afternoon. We decided on Pier 50 since it was a good location at the mall. The parking lot was pretty packed. There was no wait time for lunch - probably because it was pouring outside. The menu is extensive, but our server graciously explained each section. You can order 10 orders or 5 different fish items at a time. Even with this limit, the servers came by our table to take the next order at a reasonable pace! There is a QR code on the table if you need the menu on your phone. If you don't want to do the all-you-can-eat option, the a la carte prices are listed on the menu as well. They had three different tiers - the most expensive one will include all items at $54.95 per person. There is a 100-minute time limit, and parties of 5 or more will have gratuity automatically added. We went with the middle option course B, which was $45.95. This option gave us the nigiri and sashimi and a additional few appetizers. The dessert is still limited to one item per person. Overall the fish was good. The nigiri fish to rice ratio was the highest I have ever seen. The little rice ball under the fish was so small! I loved that they had yellowtail collar - this might have been my favorite item. Other notable items included the XXX sauce, agedashi tofu, and hand rolls. Our server recommended the Neptune Dazzler roll, which was pretty good. Spider roll is still one of my go-tos because of the soft shell crab. I got affogato for dessert, but this was so disappointing. They added corn flakes, which I would have asked them not to if I had known. The drink didn't taste like espresso at all. It's been a long time since I had AYCE sushi so this was a nice find. The restaurant is very nicely decorated, with plenty of space. We visited at noon, during the holidays and it was not super busy. Unlike some of the other AYCE sushi places, this one has an actual menu, instead of an iPad, and you place your orders with the waitress. There are a few levels of buffet that you can choose from, and while the prices are a little higher than other restaurants, I think the additional cost was worth it. Even though we opted for the lowest level, there were more options than we needed to get thoroughly satisfied. They even had some roll combinations that I had never heard of. Pier 50 never misses when it comes to food & service. When we got there, there was a slight wait and we were told the estimated wait time would be about 40 minutes, but we ended up seating within about 15-20minutes. We love how Pier 50 has so many options of food to choose from.
