My family and I were in the area checking out Spirit Halloween and decided to check out Pier 50 Sushi for some lunch. Pier 50 Sushi is located at the Arden Fair Mall next to California Pizza Kitchen and Barnes and Noble. We heard great things about it and we're excited to check it out! The inside was modern with low lighting and lots of tables - this location used to be the old Mukuni's so it is very big inside. We did not do their AYCE option as we weren't starving, but we did try and order a few items that would give us a good idea of how their food tasted overall. We ordered Miso Soup, Spicy Garlic Edamame, Monkey Brains, Chicken Katsu, Chicken Nuggets and the Brian roll. Everything came out hot and fresh - we really liked the Miso Soup, Spicy Garlic Edamame and Chicken Katsu. The sushi wasn't our favorite, but we know that is a personal preference! They had a ton of other rolls on the menu that I'm sure we would like much better! Overall, I would love to come back and try their AYCE option - the price is well worth it considering how many items they have on their menu! Staff were also friendly and gave great recommendations! We will be back soon!

This is a late review. Was brought here for dinner for my birthday. We were seated promptly. Our server was helpful and attentive. The place was nicely decorated. Just a bit dark to look at the menu. We had tried more than expected. Appetizers, soups, rolls, desserts, drinks, etc. Everything we tried was filling and delicious. Enjoyed every item I tried. Which was practically everything in the photos. Make sure to come on an empty stomach. I think it's worth it.

Great dinner at Pier 50. Love the tier options! Service is quick and the quality is great. We love sashimi and Nigiri. The salmon options were great! Love that the rolls can be 1/2 for many of them so you can pace yourself! They didn't disappoint. Not too heavy with the rice either. Will be back!

Arrived early for opening and was super excited to try this place out for the first time and for my bday. The interior was fancy and a nice vibe, but lighting is a bit too dark for me to be able to see the menu clearly, and also because there was a lot of glare on the menu from the led lights above. I ended up using their menu from online on my phone instead. It was a struggle ordering because there's so many options and hard to remember what I already ordered or not. Also, the quantity part was confusing and the waiter ended up getting it wrong a few times so we ended up short but then later with too much of certain items. (It would be cool if we could order through an iPad system instead for these types of AYCE places) As for the food, the rice to fish ratio for the nigiri was a good balance, there's not too much rice. I like the nigiri over the sashimi because it gets too overwhelming eating so much fatty fish without rice. The fish itself was okay this time, some tasted too cold/bit hard, like it didn't fully defrost enough. I love raw scallops but these were not it for me. The texture and the taste just wasn't what I'm used to. Not sure if it's a different type of scallop or what but I was pretty disappointed since I was mostly looking forward to scallops. The presentation of all the food was pretty. The udon and the ramen were so cute. I like that they were mini portions. The desserts were all high quality and great. I loved the ice cream flavors. I was told we were limited to only 1 per person though, but I wanted to try more. I came here to celebrate my birthday so I received a cool birthday dessert where it was lit on fire. But the sparks did burn a small hole through my pants and burned my leg a bit.. so beware!

My coworker picked this spot for our team building lunch. They offer an all you can eat sushi at a price you cant beat for lunch and they have a seperate menu for non sushi lovers. They split the group with a little table just to make sure no one snuck any sushi. It was a bit annoying considering it was a work lunch but understandable. The food was amazing and we all shared different things. It was my coworkers birthday and they brough her a free dessert. The service was amazing and it was exciting trying new foods. Cant wait to go back.

I will give the all you can eat concept a 5/5 because it allows you to try a little bit of everything, but 4/5 for the selection of sushi rolls. The rolls all seemed very similar in the ingredients, unlike many other sushi places I have been to. The service was good, our waitress was attentive, and the overall vibes of the place were good. The interior is modern and a 'moody' vibe. I would come again but with the above expectation of the sushi, specifically, in mind.

Where Taro's by Mikuni used to be at Arden Fair Mall. Open until 10pm on Friday, this was the fancy spot for dinner before or after the Punch Line comedy show. I brought my Fukumi Restaurant Group Dine Around Passport (April 2026-September 2026) for a stamp too. My first time at a Pier 50, though I've been to ITS SUSHI before. They also have three tiers of AYCE courses, and similar menu items but I think at Pier you can actually do AYCE sashimi and not just nigiris! This visit we did Course A and mostly stuck to half-orders of sushi rolls and dessert: Rainbow, Alaskan, Sun of the Beach, Washington, Lemon Salmon, Henry, Brian, Salmon Lover, Shrimp Lover, Alligator, Japanese Lasagna #1, Crazy, Fake Caterpillar, Baked Alaskan, green tea ice cream and lychee sherbet. There is a $12 charge for leftovers, but caveat is you can take them home. I forget what the time limit is for AYCE dine-in here. Restrooms located down the hall to the right past the sushi bar. Thanks Alyna for great service!

I've dined here numerous times, mainly because of the Passport promotion they offer. The location is spacious and works well for both small gatherings and larger parties. I like how Pier 50's menu is similar to It's Sushi, while still offering different items as well. One of my favorites here is the spicy Korean ramen -- the noodles have a great texture, and the broth is flavorful as well. My husband enjoyed it so much he ordered two bowls! Normally, we would order udon at other locations. They also offer both sashimi and nigiri options, whereas It's Sushi mainly focuses on nigiri. The fish tastes fresh, although personally, I wish the slices were cut a little smaller and thinner. They have a wide selection of rolls available in either half or full orders, which is nice. I usually try to avoid rolls though, since I don't want to fill up on too much rice. The service is pretty standard overall, and I haven't had any bad experiences here.

This location used to be a Mikuni's...but they did the place good. The interior decoration of the place is quite nice and comfortable to the eyes. We were greeted and seated within 5 minutes of our arrival. It took a while before our server came to take our drink orders. In fact, it was quite a while that we already had our orders ready for him to take, asides from the drinks we wanted. There was a lot of people dining that day, and the staff were few and far between. The food was great. And from the time we placed our orders, it did not take long for the orders to arrive. It was an all-you-can-eat option that we took, so whenever the staff came by our table, we placed our next order, or have to wait a little longer because of the staff shortage. But in spite of having less, the staff did cope with serving the tables. My commendation to all of them on duty that day! If you are in the area and are craving sushi, you have to try this place!

Came here for lunch and left with food coma. We chose the 45 dollar option. . We had a lot of their nigiri and some sushi rolls but half rolls. We also got their plate of sashimi too. . The fish collar from halibut is one of my favorite appetizers. I liked the rice less rolls and using soy paper instead of the seaweed. . Their spicy ramen always hits and is so good. I also love their insurance nigiri, to fried oysters, cold tofu and edamame is good. Sashito pepper deep fried is good too. . Service was friendly and quick on replenishing the order. The ambiance was casual and fancy inside too. It is located next to arden mall which is convenient. Hope this helps and thanks for reading. Have a yelptastic day.

Pier 50 was an awesome, fulfilling experience. We visited on a Sunday around 12:30/1, with a group of 6. We were seated in less than 10 min. Our server was very patient and nice with us. She kept the visits to our table, which allowed us to order to our hearts content. Some of the regular sushi/sashimi/nigiri that I get is hamachi (yellowtail), tuna, salmon, eel and they had plenty of fresh options. Adding this to the date night or girls night list!

Back for a 2nd time at one of my new favorite AYCE sushi restaurants! You can pick between 3 different AYCE courses; my family and I got Course A, the most basic tier, but it was definitely far from basic! They have a wide selection of rolls, appetizers/hot foods, noodles, and even items I've never seen on an AYCE menu like sushi burritos and poke nachos. The sashimi and nigiri menu items are only included in Course B and C. I loved that we could get half or full servings of the rolls, so we were able to try sooo many by sticking to half portions. My favorite rolls were the XYZ, Jay, Japanese Lasagna #2, and Popcorn Shrimp. Any of their classic rolls can also be made into hand rolls. The ingredients were fresh and good quality. Each person gets one dessert menu item, which is only ice cream/sorbet for Course A, but it was sufficient. No pictures on the menu, so hopefully these pictures help. Service was wonderful--we never felt like we were waiting too long to order or to receive our rolls, and our waiter checked in on us regularly. The interior also had a really nice aesthetic. I'm eager to come back to try the higher tiers! No doubt my go-to for AYCE sushi in the Sac area.

One of the best AYCE sushi buffets I have been to! You get unlimited nigiri AND sashimi here as well as a variety of rolls. You can order half rolls or full rolls and their take on different versions of salmon/tuna nigiri was very impressive and unique! There are different combos you can choose from, though Combo B is the perfect sweet spot for sashimi, nigiri, and rolls. The only missing component I would say is the lack of pictures which makes it a bit difficult to visualize what the roll looks like. I also wished there were desserts that we could order multiple of (as you currently only get one). Nevertheless, this was an amazing dining experience with fast service and very kind staff. Even when we maxed out on the limited items but one item was mistakenly delivered with missing pieces, they generously gave us more and an extra premium item! Absolutely will come back here again when I am in Sacramento.

Upscale sushi sounded great with how it it was this week. I had no memory of the quality or anything and wow I was just floored. We ordered 4 rolls and some sashimi and the scallop croquettes and everything was just divine. My only regret was that we couldn't actually eat more in one sitting. The Thai Telegraph Roll and the Firecracker were favorites with the added sauces. We also ordered the Sunshie and Spicy B, everything was a real compendium of flavor. Our friends said that the Thai Telegraph roll was surprisingly refreshing, and it was! The service was also great, they kept menus at the table so we could add more to our order if we wanted, and our pace was pretty slow since we were visiting with friends and the server checked in on us just enough. Bathrooms were super clean, it wasn't too loud to have a conversation and not freezing cold inside. It was a packed house too! We couldn't believe how full the reservations were for a Wednesday night. Next time we go, which I hope is this year.. i'd like to get a few more warm dishes and less rolls to try out. I'm really glad we chose this place and while it's definitely in that "special occasion" budget for us, i'd like to go back at least 1 more time, and not wait 10 years.

Like, this place is genius and I automatically hate all other restaurants for not having bathrooms like theirs. They have these amazing toilets.. the lids auto open and theres just so much more. They are well designed with no crazy nooks and crannies so you can tell they are easy to clean and they have bidets! I didn't use it but I gotta say, im just so happy knowing them folks are hygienic. if any of the staff ever reads this review, please comment back and tell me what the brand of toilet that is because I have to have one for my house. its amazing.

Really nice Japanese place with lots of choices. I stopped in here to have lunch before a meeting…read more I had about 45 minutes to have lunch before I needed to skedaddle and thought this place could make that happen. I think SacTown might operate on a slower schedule than I am used to, so 45 min won't be enough time if you decide to come here. Waitress was great and when I did tell her I needed to leave shortly after my meal was delivered, she closed me out promptly, so I appreciated that. She was also very pretty too, so naturally, I liked her. I am a sucker for good looking people haha. I didnt want to think too hard so I ordered the grilled saba (mackerel) lunch plate. It comes with miso soup, salad, white rice. Miso soup was good. Saba was good and I enjoyed most of it. Salad had a dressing that was a little too creamy for me, so I only had a few bites and there was lettuce, which freaked me out. There were a few shishito peppers and I devoured all of those. Overall, I really enjoyed having lunch here. The outdoor area is super nice and Id return to have another meal here. One star deducted because the parking situation is a bit problematic. I deducted another star because service was just a bit slow for me When I am back in SacTown, i'd come back to enjoy some of their sashimi and fresh seafood options.
