Delicious loco moco!
Tamaki S.

Wow! So happy to have found this place! The Yelp reviews don't disappoint. We got the Loco Moco (holy cow don't pass this one up!), the katsu and waffles (perfectly cooked crispy katsu), poutine fries with curry (a win), and the French toast (with this delicious cream and a hint of cinnamon) ! Food here was delicious and unique. And honestly, If you like a loco moco, you will LOVE this one. Two types of gravy and the patty is really tasty with it all. We thought the ceiling fans inside looked like a neat trick haha. We came on a weekday so it wasn't super busy and it was nice because we got to meet the owner, Dan! Super cool laid back guy with great customer service. We plan to drive from Elk Grove for this again soon, food is totally worth the trip! Don't miss out

Came here for my sister inlaws birthday brunch and the place was bright and airy, friendly atmosphere right when you walk in,was seated rt away they have handicap parking and a pretty decent parking lot,we ordered our food and within 10mins our food came out hot and fresh the food was amazing very flavorful and the portions was well worth the price. This place is a must if you like fusion meets oldskool They have something special here going to come back to try the other food options....

Was recommended this spot by a friend! Located in the parking lot with the antique mall. Family owned, everyone was friendly and helpful. Love that they offer complimentary green tea or coffee! We ordered the Genki Loco Moco and the Chicken Katsu and Waffle. Both were so good, would definitely recommend. Their Loco Moco came with a tornado egg and two different gravy's - a brown and a white gravy. I found pieces of bacon with my rice too! Presentation was great! The katsu chicken and waffle came with a side of freshly whipped cream and fresh fruit. The katsu came out perfectly crispy and the coconut waffle was fluffy and not too sweet. Huge portions! They even helped pack up our leftovers. Will def be back :)

I adore this place, and it's a whole family affair. The older kids were earning there keep and seating the guest which I LOVE and the food was all amazing and unique. Service was great and the space was nice and open. The loco moco had a fusion of gravy's that paired nicely and was yummy. Everything was delicious and can't wait to come back to try everything on the menu. Definitely stop in for a creative brunch option

Great food, great service! No complaints. This place serves a Japanaese infused fusion to their brunch. It is have to say, it works! Their loco moco with two type gravy! Delicious! Their katsu fried chicken,, delicious! They offered us free coffee and tea at the time we came, so it was a nice touch. Their tea was good, as it paired well. Nothing was too heavy and everything was just right. Will definitely recommend this place to be added to your brunch favs, cause its one of mines.

Genki Loco Moco with sunny side egg

Genki Kitchen is located where Evan's and Kau Kau used to be. Lots of parking there but it usually gets full around lunch time. Lunch time the place gets busy too but after around 1:30 there's less of a wait time to sit down. My wife and I just happened to look for brunch places since we wanted to try new places and saw Genki took over the spot. It looked like it'll have a unique brunch menu so we had to check out. On our first visit we ordered 3 different items that sounded good on the menu because it's either we like the food and come back or we don't if what we got was not good. We ordered the Genki Benedict, Genki Loco Moco and the Country Fried Katsu on our first visit. The Benedict was absolutely delicious with the yuzu sauce and spam. The Shoku pan under all of that just elevated it and it was one of our favorites. The Loco Moco had two gravies that were white and brown with a perfectly cooked patty that wasn't mushy and had good texture. I got the sunny side egg on top of that. The country fried katsu had great texture with the gravy that was great as well. On our second visit we got the loco Moco again but with a tornado egg to switch it up and it'll be hard to choose between that and the sunny side next time I come. Next the GyuDon my son got and he said was great but I didn't get to try it since he finished it before I could get a bite . Also got the Curry Katsu Chicken Don and server let me know I had the option to do gravy instead so my big back went with the gravy and I'd do it again. Overall 9.5 out of 10 and we will come back here often. I believe Dan the owner talked to us on the second visit and he seemed like a great guy.

*Rice and tasty * I give Genki Restaurant 5/5 stars for overall experience. From the moment we walked in, the experience felt warm and welcoming. You can really appreciate the love for Japanese fusion food throughout the menu, and the service stood out right away. A special shoutout to the young host, Tray, who was an absolute star. He greeted customers, took orders, and even brought drinks to tables with such a positive attitude. His hospitality truly helped make the experience memorable. **The food is 4/5 stars The loco moco was pleasantly delicious. The patty was seasoned well, and I loved that they served both curry sauce and house-made gravy with it. I also personally enjoyed the softer, mushy rice texture, although I know that may not be everyone's preference. The house-made gravy with the country fried katsu had good flavor. Since I've enjoyed many different styles of katsu over the years, my palate is a little more sensitive to seasoning, so I personally would have liked a bit more salt in the chicken and crispy, seasoned potatoes. I may not drive almost 30 minutes to come back again, but this is definitely a good local spot for those in the area. I truly hope this family-run business does well -- give it a try and see for yourself, because every palate is different.

Upon arrival you step into a place that reminds of Japan. The restaurant is very similar to the establishment scattered across many of the Japanese cities. I believe the eldest son sat me at a table. He's very cordial and kind. He hangs on to words you speak before he replies. A very good customer service talent this one has . I asked what he would recommend between the Genki Okonomiyaki and the Kikori(Lumberjack) omelette. He smiled and said the omelette. When you really don't know what the restaurant fare will taste like you should always ask the waiter/waitresses. The fact I like many of the ingredients in the omelette helps. The one of the owners is named Nancy. She is all smiles with a helpful attitude. She told me that they have been opened for about four months now. The first bite of the omelette is heavenly. Scrumptious bites and tender eggs and spam. With bacon bits. Delicious. If you need to get out and relax this is the place to come. It's tucked into a small little strip mall but it's tremendously recommend

A very cute spot! Hidden if you don't know what you're looking for. We were greeted by the whole family for Sunday brunch. My bf said it felt like he was invited into someone's home and they fed him homemade cooking. I had to try the loco moco and they do not play with the portion. There was so much brown and white gravy, I don't know which one I liked more. Seasoning was perfect and tasted so fresh. I would get this again but would like to try other menu items as well. My bf ordered the teriyaki steak skillet. This was great as well. Steak was cooked perfectly and I'm usually not a teriyaki type of person but it pairs well with the steak. And the tea helped everything settle in my stomach as well. So good! We will be back soon! So glad we gave this place a chance. :)

After seeing Genki featured on several Instagram accounts, my curiousity was piqued. My sister and I came for brunch around 10 am on a Saturday. The place was small but we easily got a table. At first, we could not decide what to get because everything sounded so good. We finally settled on the Loco Moco because we never turn down a chance to try this dish when we see it on the menu. The second dish was a Curry Katsu Chicken-Don. While both dishes were great, but the Loco Moco was our favorite. Instead of a fried egg, they opted for a tornado egg over rice. The hamburger patty was definitely homemade and topped with two different gravies: brown and white. It was served with pickled ginger. The dish was pretty rich but having the pickled items cut some of the richness down without diluting the savory flavors of the dish. Service was exceptional. As soon as we walked in, a young gentleman greeted and seated us right away. He offered us complimentary tea after he sat us. The weather was chilly that day and the tea hit the spot. The owner and several other staff members came by our table. Not just to ask if we need anything but seem to genuinely care about our feedback. It was really nice to be able to interact with the owner. He invited us back and we did a couple weeks later. We got the Loco Moco again on our second visit as well as the Okonomiyaki, a savory pancake topped with an egg, bacon and pickled ginger. Once again, the Loco Moco stole the show. The okonomiyaki seemed more like a fritata, but still very tasty. I cannot wait to come back and bring my friends. It's located where Kau Kau used to be. Depending on the day and time, parking could be limited.

First time trying out this restaurant. While speaking to our waitress, she mentioned this restaurant switched owners and identity about 4 months ago. The service was amazing. The waitress came by asking if we needed anything a few times and the chief came out to ask how the food and everything else. Very cozy, homey vibe with 90s to early 2000s music. I shared the genki okonomiyaki and ika geso. We got tornado egg with our okonomiyaki and it was perfect. The right amount of sweet and savory. The bacon was crispy and the veggies soft, but not mushy. The ika geso was delicious. Thin layer of batter and crispy. Overall, it was a good experience.

okonomiyaki and chicken and coconut cream waffles

We arrived early on a Saturday. Owners Dan and Nancy greeted us warmly for their soft opening weekend. We ordered the chicken coconut cream waffles and the okonomiyaki. - the coconut cream waffles were really great. The coconut cream that we got on the side was especially delicious with the chicken and waffles. I would say the chicken could be slightly juicier, but other than that this dish was hit with both of us. - the okonomiyaki had a nice flavor with the traditional sauce and egg pancake. The bacon and fried egg on top was a nice spin on the traditional dish. I felt the cake would be better with a less "formed" shape and some noodles (the W ay I've had it in the past. Overall we really liked what we tried. A big "thank you" for the complementary tea and white peach mimosa! UPDATE: Back again, this time with the kids - Moco Loco: daughter enjoyed it, but couldn't finish it - Chicken Katsu Curry: crispy and delicious (ordered with curry on the side) - Crispy Chicken with gravy and potatoes: yum! - Beef Udon soup: Actually our favorite with a new delicious, rich flavor

I was so excited to finally try Genki kitchen! We came as a large party of eight and ordered so many items from the menu. The place was bright and open and welcoming and we had excellent service as soon as you walked in. Every dish was delicious savory and everything you had hoped for in a great brunch! It's the venue was fun open an area and definitely a lot of regulars were coming in greeting the owners as they walked in. This place is a must try!

I tried their sukiyaki set, both wagyu and seafood. I wish they had given some instructions on the approach or order I should eat the sets of food. It was a little chaotic trying to figure out how I could submerge all the ingredients in the broth so they would cook evenly. The tempura is perfectly crispy, but the rice was a little brittle and got dried really fast. The texture was more like Vietnamese broken rice, and it caught me off guard because when I tried their sushi a while ago, they used very high-quality rice. As is typical with sukiyaki, the broth becomes very flavorful at the end, absorbing all the flavors from high-quality ingredients, but my udon got a little dry while waiting. Since I tried both set, the wagyu sukiyaki broth became a little too sweet at the end. My favorite is definitely the seafood sukiyaki broth. Would I try these pricy sukiyaki again? Probably not. Would I go back to Azayaka again? 100%. This would not discourage me from going back there any amount.

Two decently filets of salmon came with rice, miso soup, salad, deep fried egg roll and salad. You also get a choice of either croquette or chawanmushi. The chawanmushi was a highlight for me! The chicken karaage was very juicy, and both me and my kid really liked it. We also ordered oysters, salmon sashimi, camila roll, and phoenix roll. Everything tasted very good. The camila roll was a little bit dry, and I think it would be better with a little more sauce. The service was fast and very welcoming. We will definitely come back again.

It was nice that they had some vegan rolls that weren't just avocado rolls. My sister was happy to be able to order at one place with us. I'm not sure when the grand opening was, but the sign was still hanging up when we got there. The Uni pasta was good, but I wish I had it fresh. I think I would have loved it more. The rolls were decent and we had a little bit of variety. I always cautious going towards 29th St. because of the limited parking but was really happy that they had their own parking lot. I was also able to walk down to Pushkin as well. Inside the restaurant there wasn't an abundance of tables. I hope they get busy, because I think they previously took over this restaurant.

Service is prompt and they're always great at recommending items. I'm honestly perplexed by all the mid / negative reviews. I've been going here for years and it's certainly one of the top restaurants in Sacramento. We know to make a reservation or go mid- week to avoid the busy days. Don't know what everyone else is expecting! Must have dishes: - yakionigiri - grilled wings - Negima - niku udon

The bill was surprising us, $180 including 20% must pay gratuity (3 people). I asked why forced me to pay 20% tips, he said already printed on the menu in a small print at the bottom. I'm not willing to pay so he change it to a custom tip. I still pay 15% to Tim B, our server. Not happy customers as the below reason: 1. Not a good customer service. 2. All the skewers were only so so. I give them 6 out of 10. None of it surprised us. Don was too salty. 3. Gratuity is a challenging to us. I never see that before in any restaurant. Tips should be on customer will and not a compulsory item 20% fixed add on.
