We went here as a pre holiday celebration. The food was really good. All four of us enjoyed everything we shared . The service was great I'd recommend going again!

    A5 wagyu sukiyaki
    Ann H.

Decided to dine in again as I was craving the wagyu sukiyaki. The service was very slow and our server did not check on our table as often as I needed. It was difficult to make eye contact to notify the servers that we needed assistance. For our appetizers, I loved the Geso and the Wagyu nigiri. The octopus was really tough and chewy. I will not order this in the future. Of course, I ordered the Wagyu sukiyaki with double the Wagyu. It tasted just as amazing as the other 2 prior visits. I also ordered the seafood sukiyaki and it was terrible. The broth needs a lot of improvement. It lacked flavor and had a really fishy taste to it. The shrimp did not taste fresh. I will omit this from my future visits. I still had a somewhat pleasant dinning experience as I enjoyed the majority of the food. I will surely dine in again for the wagyu sukiyaki.

Came in here for dinner and the liked the typical sushi restaurant vibe it has going on. The service was good and we enjoyed our paper hot pot meals . It was a good experience but you get such small amount of food for what you pay for in regard to the special paper hot pot meals

This is one of my favorite neighborhood sushi spots. I frequent this place as much as I can because I love the food here, especially the chawanmushi~ This restaurant is not huge but it's clean, vibey and cozy. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable and service is always pretty good~ A few things we always get: Chawanmushi: it's a savory egg pudding with mushrooms and snow crabs, it's a nostalgic dish to me and eating it here bring me comfort Melona float: it's a fun cocktail with melona ice cream and sake Sashimi: I usually go for akami, hamachi, albacore or kampachi. The fish is fresh and cut nicely. They also decorate the dish with flowers. The presentation is on point. Chicken Katsu set: it's a decent portion size of dinner. You get Katsu, rice, miso soup, salad and three aide dishes Fire dragon roll: it's spicy but not too spicy, my go to roll Things we've tried and liked even tho we don't get to order them all the time: Wagu beef paper hotpot: it has very marbled wagu beef and hotpot accoutrement in there. It is a sukiyaki base so a sweet and savory taste. It is really rich perfect for cold weather. Fired oysters: if you like oysters you really can't go wrong with ordering fried oysters Tempura: a good selection of shrimp and vegetables. I especially love the Kabocha squash in there Miso cod: very buttery soft fish with sweet and savory taste. A pretty big portion best to share with others. Matcha crepe cake: tried it last time and loved it might add this to my always order list haha. The crepe layer is soooo thin and cream is super light. This dessert doesn't feel heavy at all which I really like~ Definitely also look at their special menu. Some of the things are seasonal and very tasty! Good food good vibes. I look forward to going there a lot haha~

My friend and I came here for lunch. I heard great things about their boxes. I ordered the Jubako box and my friend had the Wagyu Sukiyaki paper hot pot. Both items are pretty pricey, but I definitely feel like you get quality protein for the price. I don't typically order boxes so truthfully I don't have much experience to compare. The food was very good, and I'm glad I tried it.

Black Cod on asparagus with sesame sauce
    Cliff N.

Very impressed! The exterior definitely defies the quality within. First time there and the food quality, service quality and ambience as well as searing comfort was all very good! I ordered the black cod in seasame and over asparagus with some rice on the side and a Lychee cocktail and it was all so deliciously a delightfully flavorful, fresh and presented beautifully! I was there for lunch to get my weekly twice a week minimum seafood intake and it was suprisingly slow with few patrons. They have an eclectic menu of Asian fusion that is clever and creative , and I am beyond tempted to go back as it is a for sure repeat restaurant for Sacramento, especially during the work day. The sushi looked really good and had some Kamachi tuna belly was som of the best I've had so hard off to the Sushi chef.

Irasshaimase! The staff at Azayaka is welcoming, and they want their customers to feel at home. The food has been consistently good and delicious. My go to is the Teishoku. You can choose from several different choices of proteins; with my favorite being the teriyaki chicken. The set comes with a vegetarian eggroll, miso soup, salad, rice, and clam chawanmushi. It's the perfect meal. Everything is tasty, and the portions are so incredibly generous. You will not leave hungry. The only item that I don't like is the clam chawanmushi ( savory egg custard). I've enjoyed this dish another restaurants that hasn't had clam in it, and there's just something about the clam flavor that just ruins it for me. Plenty of free parking, and they definitely will accept reservations for larger parties. It's a great place for date night, family dinner, or enjoying a nice meal with good friends.

    Nigiri - Kinmedai and Hirame
    Jamie S.

Worth the try: nankatsu karaage, rolls, nigiri Tip: No reservations unless you do omakase! Chawanmushi: Japanese steamed egg custard with clams, corn, snow crab meat. Very silken, full of flavor and texture. One of the best chawanmushi I've had. Yuzu Nankatsu Karaage: deep fried chicken cartilage served with house made yuzu honey dipping sauce. Chewy and fried without feeling too oily. PARKING: Located in a plaza so lots of parking outside! SERVICE: They're a busy restaurant with limited staff, but the food came out incredibly fast and the servers are kind and attentive. ATMOSPHERE: No frills restaurant with a lowkey, authentic Japanese vibe. I've had this place bookmarked for a while and glad we made our way out to East Sac to try out this hidden gem. The menu has a wide variety of things, and everything we tried was amazing. You can tell they care about providing an authentic Japanese experience with the chicken cartilage (vs. chicken breast or thigh), the lack of ginger or wasabi served on the side, and the kinds of fish they serve. I'd recommend this spot for those looking for a solid hole in the wall Japanese restaurant. Will be back to try more of the menu and eventually the omakase!

This place is a little out of the way of my usual dining spots but I had to stop in because I started seeing ads on instagram for a place that started doing paper-sukiyaki, so I had to get it. It was an early Saturday afternoon so I was promptly seated by the staff. They don't skimp on the meal. It comes with an onsen egg, cucumbers, a bowl of udon and a side of assorted fried tempura. I enjoyed the broth because it wasn't too sweet. It had the right amount of savory to sweet ratio, and the meat was tenderly cooked in the broth.

    A5 wagyu sukiyaki!
    Jonathan F.

Great time here. A nice Japanese themed restaurant that had TVs and played the TNF game. This is really high quality a5 wagyu in a sukiyaki that felt just like Japan! Wish I took more photos but went on a Thursday and they had discounts on Same and Blue fin, chutoro, and another fatty tuna that were bomb! Ordered two of these specials came with 5 sashimi slices for about &9 Got the nigiri special- it was decent probably wouldn't order that again I believe it was 9 pieces for $39 Had great service and they even treated us to a mini lava cake for a birthday celebration!

    Sophie M.

Honestly really liked this place! You could tell the seafood was high quality and the menu is well thought out. They were out of Wagyu by the time we arrived at 7pm so that's something to consider. Drink menu felt limited and atmosphere was cute but maybe a little quiet? I think they had music playing but it was super muted. I could hear everyone's conversations lol Service was pretty fast and servers were kind. I def would give this place another go!(:

Azayaka Sashimi Box 18 Pieces, scallop hand roll, tuna maki roll, Mixed Tempura (8 Pieces), Grilled Whole Squid, Double Toro roll.
    Savannah M.

Just went here for the first time on a first date and have had this place on my saved list for forever. The food here was absolutely delicious. We ordered: Appetizers: Mixed Tempura 8/10 - wish it was a smidge flakier Grilled Squid 1000/10 - might just come back alone for this. Absolute perfection, no notes Mains: 18 piece Sashimi 10/10 - large slices, scallops were definitely the start- tho no higher rating due to no description on what was being served and slightly inconvenient design even though the presentation was pretty. Double Toro roll 8/10 - my date loved it, I'm just not a big roll fan Spicy scallop hand roll 9/10 - super delicious, scallops were fresh Unagi hand roll - 10/10 - I didn't even get to try it, my date loved it Tuna maki roll - 10/10 - simple, delicious We will definitely be coming back. I will say my only note is that we ordered the appetizers first and actually waited to order our mains in hopes that the appetizers would come out first. Instead my mains came out before the appetizers and then my dates came after the appetizers came out. Everything was delicious but I hope that isn't a common habit as it made the meal feel a bit rushed and the waitresses were commenting about how much we ordered and if we could eat it all... everyone was very nice though. A little cold in the actual restaurant but makes sense to keep the fish cold.

So fresh! The uni was my fav creamy and closing Your eyes you Can hear the Ocean waves lol

How much is the omakase per person?

The omakase costs $123 per person before taxes and gratuity.

Is it wheelchair accessible and is service allows inside?

    Yes

I ordered the Chicken Katsu Set. It comes with chawanmushi, harumaki, miso soup, mixed greens, somen, and steamed rice. However I didn't get the chawanmushi, miso soup, or the somen. I did get edamame. Is the take out supposed to be different?

Is there still a tasting menu/omakase avail?

Last I went, 3 months ago, there was, but you have to call in advance to make a reservation. No walk-ins avail for omakase. Hope this helps.

Do they have any cooked rolls such as the Lion King?

I don't know what is in the lion king roll, but they have a roll with shrimp tempura, eel, avocado, green onion and sauce. It's all cooked. Most restaurant will make you something cooked upon request.

    Are you serving alcohol now?

I was there this week. They had sake and sparking plum wine.

    Do they serve alcohol?

We do! We are just waiting for the Alcohol License. The authority says we will be getting it in one week. Currently we have non-alcoholic beer.

The restaurant has that warm and lively Vietnamese feeling that is hard to find outside of Vietnam. The food was absolutely amazing. Every dish came out fresh, flavorful, and prepared with care. You can tell the chefs take pride in their cooking because every bite tasted authentic and reminded us of family meals and gatherings back home. The portions were generous, and the ingredients tasted fresh and high quality. Whether you come for appetizers, seafood, grilled dishes, or traditional Vietnamese favorites, there is something for everyone to enjoy. One of the highlights of the evening was the karaoke. The sound system was excellent, the song selection was great, and it created such a fun environment for families and friends to enjoy together. There is something special about eating delicious food, singing your favorite songs, laughing with loved ones, and making memories that will last a lifetime. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and attentive throughout the night. They made sure we were comfortable and checked on us regularly even when the restaurant became busy. Their hospitality added even more to the experience. If you are looking for a place that truly captures the feeling of Vietnam with authentic food, great service, and fun karaoke entertainment, this is definitely the place to visit. It is more than just a restaurant÷it feels like a little piece of Vietnam right here in America. We will absolutely be coming back and bringing more family and friends with us next time. Highly recommended for anyone who loves good food, good music, and great company!

The Bò Nhúng Giấm was also really good, fresh beef with a tangy broth that's perfect for sharing. Service was fast and friendly, and the place was clean and lively. We had a reservation and waited a few minutes longer than expected, a small grievance quickly forgotten once they sat us near the kitchen with a sightline to the live music, which was actually good. Meatballs, lemon pizza, and caesar salad to start. The caesar has been better elsewhere, but the other two were excellent. The wood fired pork chop, saffron spaghetti, and radiatore that followed were all really good. We finished with the strawberry bread pudding and aperitifs, staying much longer than we needed to. The room feels like a place people return to, filled with neighborhood regulars, which is always a good sign. But the real story is Claudia, our server. Everything arrived exactly when it should, every question was answered before we finished asking it, and nobody at the table wanted for anything all night. That kind of service is rare and she made the whole evening feel effortless. If you go, hope you get her.
