Been here about three times. Definitely worth coming to this little gem in West Kendall. Ambiance: The restaurant is a bit dated with carpet, but we always end up here for good sushi. At times we go to the restaurant and we are the only ones there and then all of a sudden, the restaurant is packed. Service: Jenny, has been our waitress for the last two visits. She is amazing and gives great sushi recommendations. Always comes by our table to ensure we have enough water without asking. Food: The sushi here is really good. I've tried the Godzilla roll, spicy crunch tuna roll, crunchy spicy salmon roll, and eel fashion roll. All great in my opinion. Would recommend this sushi spot to anyone. read more

I'm just going to keep coming back here and reviewing so I can remember which rolls I love. This place is a favorite for a reason - wonderful staff, nice location and fresh sushi. Both rolls were *chef's kiss*. I didn't super love the cream cheese on the PVF roll, but I still ate it happily. The ONLY thing I will say is this time, the donuts seemed to be more cakey than chewy - not my personal favorite. Good flavor still, but I prefer the other variation. read more

This sushi spot in Kendall will transport you to Japan once you walk in. Small and quaint, we came here to grub after pickleball at a nearby park on the fourth of July. We were searching for spot open during the holiday and after a quick Yelp search and call, we got confirmation they were open. Their menu is pretty extensive and we came during lunch, which they have great lunch deals and specials. I ended up getting the Sashimi Combo and it was pretty good. Of course with any sashimi combo, it always feels small in comparison to other deals so I would recommend opting for the other options for lunch over this one. I just wanted to get an option with less carbs but ended up eating the same about of carbs as the other combos since this came with a side of rice that I couldn't let go to waste (okay, it was also my lack of willpower.) If you know me, you know I am on an endless quest for Dynamite Appetizer as good as my long gone favorite spot in Pines. Well, this place comes pretty damn close. Their dynamite appetizer is a good size with baked seafood and dynamite mix on top of a bed of rice. The taste isn't exactly what I was looking for but still very good! This is heavy on the spicy mayo, so if you have an intolerance for that, I'd skip this. But if not, then I recommend! Next visit, I have to try their specialty rolls. I've been here five times now, and somehow the craving always brings me back. This visit, we ordered the steamed gyoza, the legendary Godzilla Roll, the BCBS Roll, and takoyaki. The gyoza were tender and flavorful. The rolls? Easily some of the best I've had locally. The Godzilla Roll in particular is just built different. Crispy, creamy, savory. It hits every time. The BCBS was also a standout with rich flavor, layered textures, and clean presentation. The only miss this time was the takoyaki. One of the balls was still frozen in the middle, and the rest were just warm. It didn't ruin the experience, but it stood out in contrast to everything else. Fujiya doesn't try to be trendy or flashy. It's a cozy, unassuming gem with consistently good sushi and genuinely kind staff. When I think of sushi in Miami, this is the place I crave. read more

Mildly disappointed by the sushi at this location. Ordered the new bagel roll and found the overall flavor to be lacking as well as the salmon. The location was intimate and they seemed to have a conversation pit in the back corner which was really cool and interesting. First time ordering sushi from here. Very easy to order online and the menu was very descriptive. The text messaging notifications were kinda slow. The food was to be ready for pick up in 15-30 mins but we were still expecting a text when the food was ready, having waited 30 mins we picked up our food and it was waiting for us, we got the text message that our food was ready when we were already on our way back home. The overall presentation was typical of sushi. The menu was vast and lots to choose from. I honestly didn't find anything that stood out. The sushi rolls were good overall but not something to run back to. Maybe trying different rolls we will feel differently, it is hard to find local restaurants that are worth returning to without driving towards Miami Beach. read more

Love coming here!!! It is a definite essential if you grew up in Kendall. The ever so popular sushi restaurant has the famous entrance greeting of '"hello's" coming from staff as you walk in. It's truly a welcoming experience. The restaurant itself is not to big but perfectly accustomed with comfortable and spacious seating. There's a cool table that you can reserve for a bit more privacy and with seating on a pillow on the floor. We started with a refreshing ginger salad, tasty shumai, delicious tuna tartare and 2 orders of the zoni roll. This roll is my favorite as it comes with shrimp tempura, crab, avocado, tempura flakes, spicy mayo, and both kimchee and eel sauce. It is absolutely fabulous! The pickled ginger and wasabi paste give it that extra lilt kick too. There are so many options to choose from here starting from the drinks down to the dessert. I suggest keeping a menu after ordering cause something else might catch your eye that you have to try! read more

Came for lunch on a Sunday and it was not very busy. The service was great from the moment we walked in until we left. Our server was very attentive the entire time. We ordered a tonkatsu ramen and a American dream roll of sushi. The sushi must be their specialty , it was absolutely delicious. It was freshly made and you can see your sushi being made. I would definitely love to come back and try other rolls. Now unfortunately the ramen was not good. It had big pieces of pork but they were dry, The egg was fridge cold and the broth was flavorless. I've been here a few times while visiting my family in Miami and I think this place is great! Food is always fresh and the spot is cozy. This is definitely a hidden gem in West Kendall! We always start with the seaweed salad and the shrimp and vegetables tempura, so yummy and crispy! And all the rolls that I've tried so far have been really good. Absolutely blown away by our first visit to this hidden gem! It's a true hole in the wall, but don't let the unassuming exterior fool you. From the moment we stepped in, we were greeted with warm hospitality and amazing customer service. Now, onto the star of the show - the sushi. Just know that The appetizers: Gyoza not fresh or close to being. Shumai was the same; cannot prep for appetizers what are we to expect from the main course? Service was good. Advise to the new owners-- you purchase a brand and quality restaurant right? Why change what's working? If you feel you can make it better change the name and start fresh--deceiving the loyal customers will only get you poor reviews and bad word of mouth to their friends and neighbors. Ordered the sushi sashimi combo L from the lunch menu. As soon as they placed the plate down I could smell an unpleasant kind of fishy, I smelled different pieces and decided to try a piece of nigiri. I could not swallow it. I left the rest of the plate untouched. I went to the counter and told them I didn't want it, that it smelled bad and tasted bad. They offered to pack it to go, I declined. They still charged me $21+and I left. My hands still smell fishy. The salad I had before was frozen and had the butt/end of the lettuce head mixed in. I came in at 11:30 as soon as they opened so I imagine their salads are left overnight in a very cold refrigerator. The food here is not fresh and the raw fish is of terrible quality. read more

One of my favorite hidden gems in West Kendall- I've been coming here since I was a kid! The restaurant doesn't look like much, but the staff and food more than make up for it. The staff is so sweet, attentive and kind! No matter what waiter/waitress you have, you're in great hands! Their food is amazing! They have a huge variety of sushi rolls, and they're all absolutely delicious and freshly made. They also have a great selection of sake. Their menu is also great, but my favorite dish is the katsu-don, it's so good! The katsu is perfectly breaded, and the sauce that comes on it is slightly salty and sweet on a bed of rice. It's one of my favorite comfort meals! Their tempura is also delicious- definitely give it a try! If you're ever in the neighborhood I recommend giving this place a try! Still my favorite sushi place in Miami after 10 years living here. I always go with the spicy crunchy tuna roll. Something about the sauce they put on top makes it *chefs kiss* I always ask for more of that sauce on the side. I recently have been just ordering pick up because prices are better and cuts the middle man out from UberEats, postmates, etc.... SHOP LOCAL AND ORDER DIRECT! I found on yelp they have new rolls which is the hurricane roll and the three boys roll which I LOVE. They are not your traditional rolls they have a a lot of sauce and cream cheese (which I normally try to avoid) but they add the perfect amount that isn't over powering. Both of these rolls are VERY similar as they have shrimp tempura in the center with cream cheese. I would go with the hurricane roll something about the potato sticks I just love so much. These 3 rolls is more than enough for 2 people. I usually leave left overs for the next day, granted its not as good but still tasty and edible. 10/10 I love this place. Also weekends are always packed so much so they don't really have postmates/ubereats available. SO CALL FOR PICK UP supports the business so much more. read more

This has been a favorite of mine and my family for over 10 years. The last two times we have been though, it has been awful. The restaurant was sold months ago and honestly hasn't been even half as good as it used to be. The sushi is not fresh, the rolls fall apart.. it's just terrible. I am so sad to review this because it really is so hard to find good sushi. The previous owners sold it to the wrong people. I will never be back. My mom and aunt went this past weekend because I forgot to tell them it wasn't the same... and they were both sick to their stomachs. My aunts threw up almost immediately and my mom had other stomach issues. Looks like food poisoning. They might not be in business much longer if they don't get it together. read more

I recently visited Fujiya. Although the building itself is kind of small, my experience there was quite impressive. The food was good! It tasted fresh and it was clear that it was made with great care. Every dish at Fujiya is freshly prepared and it showed in the quality and the aromas. The sushi and sashimi plates were excellent - some of the best I've ever had. I particularly enjoyed the sashimi platter, which had a wide variety of fish that were extremely tasty. The service was also very impressive. The wait staff was very quick and efficient. I was surprised by how fast everything came out to us, considering the food is all freshly made. The servers were also attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. She was great at guiding us as to which Sake to try as well. The peach Sake was great! Sweet and delicious. One of the aspects that I liked is that everything seemed very fresh, given that it has been around for a while. The restaurant has clearly maintained its quality and consistency over time. This restaurant used to be amazing about 5+ years ago before they sold the restaurant to the new owner. As I start placing my order for shoyu broth ramen with pork they tell me there is no pork. Whatever, not that serious. Then me and my date both order ramen which comes with the noodles, PORK (we replaced with chicken), spinach, scallions, seaweed, and NARUTO (the fish cake with the swirl). After waiting 30+ minutes our food arrives and all it has is the noodles chicken and egg. So I call the waiter over and ask where half the stuff is thats missing and she informs me theres no naruto AFTER we placed the order. Then in regards to the missing seaweed and scallions they simply just forgot. So I ask if I'm expected to pay the full price of the meal when half of the ingredients aren't there and the waiter didnt understand my english. I try not to fault the waiter for that however its a JOB, if she's supposed to be communicating with the customer why can't she understand what im saying. I wont be coming anymore and its sad to see a good restaurant fall but thats life. read more
