I leave near this place and was around the zone with my wife and were in the mood for sushi. I'm so glad we went to Sushi Bay! It's a small restaurant that feels like a private setting because the owner, chef Kenny, and his staff are very attentive. Kenny is always making sure everything is ok with the food he delivers. He gave us a complimentary seaweed salad with cucumbers which were really good. We ordered the crispy rice appetizer (best appetizer ever!!!), the orgasm roll, the Mary Jane roll, and the heart attack. All the rolls were like nothing we have had before. The crispy rice was may favorite followed by the heart attack. The heart attack roll is spicy and so flavorful that it's best enjoyed at the end as it was recommended by chef Kenny. Hands down my favorite sushi place and I'm already making plans to go back!!! Recommend it 100%!!! read more

I googled "best sushi" near me and this was the highest rated place. I've once we arrived I realized I had been here years ago when it was a different sushi restaurant. We were the first customers to arrive right as they opened at 6:30. We got the VIP treatment! We met the chef, Kenny and the waitress, Sydney (I apologize if I misspelled your name). They were both so friendly and kind. It was great getting to know them. They have a wide variety of wines and sake. I had a glass of the Pinot Grigio. My husband had a Japanese beer that he'd never heard of, but really liked. We were offered an organic cucumber salad as a free starter, but I personally don't like sweetened cucumbers. Give it a try if you're into that. For dinner we shared the sashimi platter, the orgasm roll, and a roll with 4 tuna pieces and 4 sushi pieces. Everything was SO GOOD! I highly recommend the orgasm roll! The fish was fresh, tasty and perfectly mixed with the other ingredients to create a delicious and delightful experience! Our chef, Kenny, also preforms on the guitar when he gets the opportunity. We didn't have the pleasure of hearing him play that night. Hopefully soon. read more

It's not often cutler bay offers a great dinning experience and much less sushi but beyond thrilled to have FINALLY discovered a spot we called prior to going to make sure they were open and when we went in we felt like real VIP. The chef was honestly and truly so sweet and kind and attentive. Big sushi buff here so I usually let them tell me what to get and boy was it delightful. We ordered some sake to start absolutely delicious with some Japanese craft beers one Pilsner and Amber so nice. For food we ordered crispy rice roll which was made perfectly the rice wasn't so hard but like other places but the perfect amount of crisp to rice ratio with the tuna and amazing jalapeño kick! As for the roles we had Kenny G role was delicious paired with their ponzu sauce which hear me out the best ponzu sauce of my life! It was so fresh so citrus flavored that brought out the flavor of the fish perfectly. We also got the orgasm roll which was also great tuna with seared salmon on top so good! Wow! We are not from this area, we were near by at a friends house and decided to stop here because of the reviews! And it did not disappoint. Ambiance low key casual friendly. Owner Chef Kenny made it feel as if we were at a friends house and he was casually making sushi. Even offered to try the fresh sushi. Made conversation with everyone as if we were all in his kitchen at home. The food. The food was absolutely delicious and so fresh! The tuna was so soft and fresh it just melted in my mouth. We were craving sushi on a Saturday night and wanted to try a new place. Sushi Bay came up on my Yelp app, bursting with good reviews, so I decided to give it a try. We were not disappointed. As we walked through the door we were greeted by a welcoming "hello" and I immediately liked the ambiance; cozy space, nice music playing and cool artwork on the walls. There was a card on the table with a QR code on it that takes you to the menu. There is a nice selection of rolls and appetizers to satisfy many palates. We started with the Crispy Rice roll and the Gyoza, both of which were very good. Two Yahoo Wahoo rolls, a Fried Sailor roll, a Buddha roll and a Kenny G roll were the main course. Everything was delicious and notably fresh. The owner, Kenny, is the man making these delicious rolls and genuinely a wonderful host. They also have a nice selection of Sake and beers. This place is more of an experience than a restaurant: the experience of going over to a friend's house who makes excellent sushi while engaging in great conversation with all the guests! We had no idea what we were in for when we pulled up to the non-descript storefront in an unassuming shopping center in Cutler Bay. The closed sign was on the door so we decided to wait as we were there a few minutes before the listed opening time of 7 pm. But after seeing a couple people walk up and get buzzed in, we decided to approach. The chef, Kenny, welcomed us in and offered us a table, but explained he usually only has reservations (made by contacting him on Instagram). He asked if we were in a hurry or had time to sit and eat as things were prepared as he is the only chef. Not being in any rush we settled in and started enjoying the great selection of Japanese beers. What followed was some of the best sushi we've had in Miami and a unique dining experience of getting to know our chef and fellow dinners (and Kenny's adorable little pooch). He gets his fish from Japan and puts together the best nigiri and rolls! We can't wait to go back. Kenny recommends contacting him on Instagram to make a reservation and let him know If you want a particular kind of fish/sushi. He can get almost anything with a couple of days notice. It's seriously some of the best sushi I've had, probably THE best outside of a ridiculously expensive 5 star restaurant. The salmon was so buttery and fresh, the flavors were fantastic. The crab was REAL crab, and yes, you really can taste the difference. For crying out loud the fake crab "Kani" sushi lovers eat that everyone else offers, he doesn't because it breaks down the quality and flavor of the rolls. What does he use instead?
