Overpriced food that is not authentic. They couldn't even cut the sushi rolls properly.

My husband and I came here to celebrate our anniversary. We recently moved to the area and were excited to find a hibachi restaurant nearby. The hibachi section has a separate entrance from the actual restaurant which is different. The parking lot is also pretty small and it was packed on a Friday night. The one thing we didn't realize is that they are BYOB so we were pretty disappointed in not being able to order drinks with dinner but now we know for next time. The food was good & the chef was speedy. We had reservations for 6:30 and were done eating by 7:15 - enough time to stop at a nearby bar for a drink ;P. Overall, it was a typical hibachi experience. My husband and I were looking to try some place new for dinner tonight. I love sushi, but it's not his thing. This menu seemed to have a lot of options for both of us so we have it a try. It was a Friday so we went at 5 because we know the parking lot gets full. We were seated immediately. We got the shrimp tempura roll to split as an appetizer which was delicious. I got the sushi dinner that came with 2 classic rolls (I got yum yum and spicy tuna) and a designer roll (play girl) and my husband got the chicken teriyaki. Both of our meals also came with miso soup. The rolls where all excellent. The yum yum may have been my favorite. The play girl came out on a flaming dish which was a lot of fun. My husband's entree was also great. It came out sizzling like fajitas. Pleasantly surprised to see his meal also came with noodles in addition to the rice. Definitely will be back! read more

My wife and I have eaten in the sushi part of the restaurant many times. We have also gotten sushi takeout numerous times. Each time, the food has been amazing. We typically have gone in the mid to late afternoon, so we have not experienced a dinner service, nor a hectic, busier time. The servers are attentive and pleasant. The atmosphere is so peaceful and serene. It is more of a spa feel, than a restaurant. The restaurant is on a busy highway, but you really can't see outside to detract from the ambiance. Muted lighting, and what seems to be a good acoustics, contribute to a low volume of noise (at least when we have been there). The restrooms are clean and very pleasant to use. The food itself is the star. Fresh, well made, and very flavorful. We have a few favorite rolls that we revisit, but always try something new too. We will normally get the designer rolls, which are more expensive, but are worth it. Because of the pandemic, we had not been going out as much, but we have gotten takeout quite a bit from here. They always provide the same quality as in the restaurant. The one downside is that the parking lot could get crowded if the restaurant is very busy. That could be a problem for some customers. Overall, this is a very good place. You will pay a premium price for the food, but worth it. read more

i have been going to Fujiyama for the better part of twenty years, and it is hands down the best sushi I have had domestically or abroad. i cannot recommend it enough, it is a bit pricey for the area but it is worth every penny. I have lived outside of the state for over 5 years now and still make a point to stop in fujiyama every time I am back in the area to visit. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. This was our first time here. The first thing I must say is that they go above and beyond pandemic protocol. The very first thing they do is take your temp. They then have you sanitize your hands and they keep their distance. No one even sits near each other. The owner is a lovely man very friendly. Now down to the food. I had the Bibimbap hot pot and it was outstanding. Flavors were nice meat cooked nicely. Spicy sauce could have been spicier but that is nit picking. We also had the tuna and salmon salad. Still 5 stars! :) First indoor dining experience after restrictions were lifted. Perfect sushi, perfect service and what a welcome bit of normality. The only compromise (other than appropriate face coverings and limited capacity, of course) was sanitizer in place of the traditional hot towels. Super disappointed in how a friend and I were treated by the servers and the manager recently. We went for sushi and brought a bottle of wine. We felt rushed the entire time through out our meal - more than likely due to the amount of people waiting for a table. We finished our food and was trying to finish the wine during conversation but the servers kept coming up to our table asking if we were getting anything else - way more than usual - it was very odd! Last but not least, the manager comes up to us asking how we were doing. After we responded, he proceeded to state under his breath, "we have people waiting to sit..." I really hope rushing people out isn't part of a new policy for them or something, but I have never had a problem dining there before. My friend and I will be taking a hiatus from this place and continue to go to sushi restaurants in morristown if we have to.
