Can't speak to the typical dining experience, but I had to share my love for this place. My partner and I took one of the cooking classes offered here today. Booking was easy online and we were provided with the menu we'd be making. Chef Jay and his staff were so friendly, and the space we cooked in was very cozy. I loved the experience of Chef Jay explaining the ingredients, helping us understand the flavors we were creating, and then getting to eat all of our delicious dishes, and of course taking home the leftovers. This event was so worth it. I would recommend this to any one of any skill level. My partner and I are by no means chefs, but our food came out perfectly. I can't wait to come back and take another class here, or stop by for dinner! read more

Here's the deal: This restaurant is a beacon of excellence just off the main street of Hackettstown. Wonderful Thai cuisine with a unique twist on other dishes you wouldn't expect. Plenty of room indoor and outside dining. Service was excellent and very helpful with menu recommendations! The appetizer wings were different and delicious. The seasonal app special corn fritters were mind blowingly yummy!!! The pork chop entree w/ rice was amazing! Would love to some consideration from the people driving by or stopped at the side street traffic light. We don't need purposeful engine revving or music cracking while waiting at the intersection. Loud, crowded and colorful...that's the good. The waitress recommended special salad was ordinary, the special fritters seemed to have been under the heat lamp too long. We really wanted to like the place, but food just doesn't warrant a third visit. read more

Why is the best south East Asian food in the middle of no where ?! Live no where near here and we have zero good south East Asian food. I'm blown away at how delicious this place is. The outside doesn't match the surrounding neighborhood. It's so cute and very homie feeling. Once you enter you get transformed back to the early 2000's at a Thai grandmas house. They also have dimsum which I did not get but I'm intrigued because it's probably Thai Chinese fusion which I will want to come back next time to try. Food was phenomenal. The stew was light despite what it looks like and My crab curry was sooooo good. There's not actual crab in it but a crab patty on top. Brown rice was tender which I appreciate bc not all places have soft brown rice. The Thai ice tea was different from what I normally had which was such a surprise! They use coconut milk ! I'm obsessed. But I think the coconut shrimp rolls stole the show. There's big shrimp with coconut pieces. And soooo hot and crispy. Service was great too. We had an absolutely excellent meal here. Really unique menu options (so many things we wanted to try) and everything was excellent. The lamb shank and bang bang chicken and shrimp were both highlights (although they could have been a bit more generous with the amount of shrimp). But the most exciting part for us as a family of 5 was how creative and interesting the kids meals were. For one, the 4 sate skewers with sticky rice were perfect. For another the "buttered noodle" with Thai rice noodle and some coconut and peanut flavor was great. We'll definitely be returning - excited to try the weekend dim sum as well. read more

Excellent food, truly the best Thai and Indonesian food I have ever had. The food comes out quick, it's BYOB and it's not very expensive. The service could be better but it isn't bad. Another deceptive, as in reviews and such which had us take a chance on it, to try it out, on a ride home from being out of area. Hungry and looking for Thai options, the unknown is always a risk. Here it was disappointing indeed as we eat Thai often and decades worth. Many places, within NYC, NJ and the like. I prefer a dish always order and appetizers usual, we'll include Satays, and such. Satay here major ripoff, plain tasting and thinnest I ever had, was 4 very small thin sticks, at 9 bucks? Damn. Had it been good maybe not as hurtful but c'mon., it was maybe not even a bucks worth of breast meat and wasn't even that good. Moving on to main dishes, just way oversauced and seen as soon as they plopped our plates down, clearly more so in my friends Beef/Veg dish, all basking in oily, viscous dark sauce, there were vegetables not even stated on menu and rice was scant, so he orders an extra (sticky) rice of which so fast became a hard, dense ball of rice glue, then inedible. My Pad Sieuw dish, made of chicken/noodles/sweet soy, was so very bland, in both chicken and noodles, noticeably so, where I wondered how is this even possible? No place before have I ever felt that way about this exact dish. It was disappointing. Regrets were had but hungry and annoyed, we just ate some of what we could, not even maybe half the dishes, we paid, left behind the food. Nobody asked us why but I did tell the waiter about the sauces, said he was sorry but then why apologize when he didn't cook it. Do what you will but my Thai food advice is if you know Thai food and expect it to be at a level it should be, you may not find it here and this place claims to be of a "Pan Asia" menu but I saw mostly Thai/Indo menu. Seems like a small Thai place located in/nearby to rural and perhaps even these areas don't scrutinize as I will, on the food details but to me, they truly matter. I do know as a cook and with skills in culinary, this cook does have a heavy hand with sauces, which ruins and makes veg soggy fast. They had plenty of take out orders going, surely is a lot of take out business as well. We ended up here on my belle's desire for Thai food. With such a variety of veg, GF, dairy free options, this place belongs to anyone. With such a variety of offerings in general, I could get whatever I wanted, but with the person sitting across from me my focus was not on the food so I don't recall what I really had. I do recall it being nice service, plenty to choose from, tasty overall. A bit of a weird setup to the room and you're seated in strange ways relative to other people with some awkward views overall. I think we shared a dumpling app. I think I went Malaysian for my entree, something nice to find this far from the City. Hard to draw a perfect verdict from this one visit, but I'm sure we will find ourselves here again a few times and if I have reasons to update from 4 stars, you will hear from me! read more

I came across this spot for lunch and ordered the Singaporean Mae Fun lunch special and it came to a little over $8. When I arrived I parked in the lot. I couldn't tell where the entrance was at first but I found it. I walked in and after the lady finished her call with a customer, she gave me my food and I paid and left. When I got in I ate and I didn't particularly care for the dish. I didn't like the flavors too much. All in all I had an ok experience. read more

We had dinner here for two and ordered the Vegetable Fried Dumplings, Pad Siew, and Panang Seafood Noodle. The cilantro sauce for the dumplings was worth noting. The seafood in the Panang noodle dish all seemed fresh and not overcooked. The noodles could've been a bit firmer. I enjoyed the Pad dish quite a bit but I've got an unhealthy penchant for wide noodles that my waistline makes quite apparent. They seemed a bit understaffed, but it was a Sunday night. Went back yesterday after a long time and was VERY disappointed. The food was coming out way to quick. Pad Siew was soupy. If I wanted soup noodles I would've gone somewhere else. We tried this venue's food via take out a month ago, and were so pleased with the quality and taste, we went back this evening to experience the dine-in experience. We were all quite thrilled with every aspect - our greeting, time to sitting at a table, the decor and colorful ambiance, attentive and friendly staff, food delivery timeframe, and the quality of appetizers and the 4 main course meals as received. One thing I love is consistency in any food establishment, that is key to me and also to my comfort in recommending the eatery to others. They nail that piece - my Bang Bang Shrimp and Chicken tasted exactly as it did a month ago, right down to the amount of heat requested. I will refer and we will absolutely be back. One nice note- they forgot to deliver one of our appetizers, just an oversite we didn't actually catch until the bill arrived. When I reminded them of that just so they could recalculate the bill, our ultra kind server brought back an adjusted tab...as well as the appetizer packaged to go. What a class act!! Always have a great meal at this restaurant. Anytime I'm back in the area my goal is to come here. The avocado salad is always a favorite and so is the chicken curry puff appetizer. The staff is very helpful in selecting a dish and further explaining the menu. A few of my favorites are the ponti pork, curry, bang bang chicken and shrimp, and Vietnamese pork chops. The restaurant is BYOB and there are many breweries in the area. Love this place and will continue visiting when I'm in the area! read more

Long time customer, not sure why I haven't given them 5 stars years ago! My favorite restaurant in town, and super gluten free and vegan/vegetarian friendly! I have celiac and it has been my most reliable place to eat. Even if you have no dietary restrictions, you will be hard pressed to find a better meal in the area. Every time you eat here you will feel amazing afterwards and your stomach will thank you. Chef Jay and family do an amazing job at providing incredible food at a reasonable price, and are genuinely great people as well. A great example of an outstanding family run business. They even offer cooking classes every once in a while where you can learn to make some of my favorite menu items! Once again I need to review this great restaurant. Went for our 27th wedding anniversary. My wife and I shared the House Sampler- which was great! Hot and fresh. My wife had the Rum & Lime Cilantro Noodles with shrimp which she gets it every time and loves it. I had some and it was excellent. I had (for the 1st time) Tuna Green Curry Noodle. It was very good but could have used more spice and sauce. I think the noodles absorbed the sauce. Next time I'll get it with Red Curry for the spice. The tuna was seared to perfection. Only reason for 4 stars is because there was a patron sitting next to us and he was SO LOUD. We couldn't hear each other and we were face to face. After he left we were all set. read more

I wanted to write another review for Pandan. My best friend and I always go for Sunday brunch whenever I come to visit and it is still consistently amazing. We were just there again last week! The selection and freshness of both the steam cart and fry cart can't be beat. The staff is so attentive and very patient when explaining what everything is. Recently moved into the area from Bergen County and I've been diving into the local food scene. I ordered about a half dozen different items and they were all average to above average from my favorite places. I will definitely order from here again but my only complaint is their online app. It was an annoying experience. It took me 2 days for it to acknowledge my address. The menu wasn't intuitive. It also charged me about $5 for delivery and I'm not sure if that went towards the annoying online service or for the tip for the delivery person. I tipped my guy anyway but not as much as usual because I didn't know where the 10% charge was for. It was a weird experience compared to your average delivery options. I tried to order direct but they referred me to the online service. Anyway the food was pretty good regardless. read more

We made reservations ahead of time and as soon as we arrived, the waitress was super attentive and friendly. We ordered the coconut shrimp which came out super hot, and a pork and chicken dish (blanking on the name). Both meals were really good and the proportions were generous. For dessert we got the Fried Banana with ice cream and it was DELICIOUS. We highly recommend you save some room for it as it is definitely worth it. read more

What a little gem! First time here (for take out), and 100% will return. For starters, I began my online order at 3pm today, and the order was accepted, yet systematically not being received by the restaurant. They open at 4pm during the week for dinner I guess. Anyway, fast forward 2 minutes after I stoped with the online process and my phone rings. The woman apologized for the order not being fully accepted, yet she had all of the items I selected for ordering, and was very very friendly! Win #1. Win #2- going to pick up food and talking with the super cool hostess. Everyone was super friendly for that matter, and I waited maybe 10 minutes. Never a big deal waiting, but this was worth it. The food was truly excellent. The corn fritters rocked. The meatball appetizer with the various flavorful and very colorful sauces were outstanding.
