Stopped by for lunch, after school, after seeing some promising reviews and photos. I was craving sushi and since it's surprisingly hard to find good sushi in Orlando, I'm always on the hunt for a new favorite spot. Thankfully, it wasn't busy when I arrived, so I was seated right away. The menu had a great variety of rolls, making it tough to choose but i ended up ordering a couple of specialty rolls. both were incredible. The fist tasted fresh, the ingredients paired well together and every bite was flavorful. Its exactly what i hope for when trying a new restaurant. To make the experience better, they serve Sapporo, which is always a huge plus for any sushi encounter. Theres just something about fresh sushi with an ice-cold Sapporo that completes the meal. I absolutely love this place. It seems like a little hole in the wall, but the food is phenomenal. I come here at least a few times a month because the sushi is so good. Cute little sushi place. The food was excellent with a good amount of meat on each roll, especially the spicy tuna roll! The only downside was the service. With still half a roll left to eat they were pushing the bill to be paid immediately. I get that it is a small area and tables need to be turned but I ate so fast and was literally being pushed out. read more

Had a great time with some friends at Fujiyama. There was no wait so we walked right in and our server was very attentive. In the future, I would skip out on the crab Rangoon as they were not my favorite. The gyoza on the other hand were delicious. My favorite rolls I had were the spicy girl roll and surprisingly the spicy tuna roll. I typically get either an avocado tuna roll or a spicy tuna roll when I get sushi, just because it's a classic, and I really like tuna, and no matter where, that roll always does exactly what I need that roll to do. However, Fujiyama really went above and beyond and the flavor on their spicy tuna roll was very good. However, both the spicy tuna roll and the spicy girl roll weren't really spicy. The flavor on them was just good, so I didn't mind. The spider roll was just OK, would probably get something else next time. If you get the Mexican roll, make sure to ask for spicy mayo on the side. read more

First time trying this spot. We arrived between 3-6p so we were able to order from the lunch menu. The place is spacious and clean. Prices were good. Service was great. They even made some adjustments to some of the food we ordered. We did pay a bit extra but worth it. We tried the miso soup, gyoza (pan fried), the shumai, the rainbow roll, the shrimp tempura roll, the shrimp fried rice and noodles. Everything was delicious. We finished with mochi ice cream. Happy hour specials were nice but the HH rolls were small compared to a normal order. Wish we would've known that, would have ordered more. Nigiri was perfect but would have been nice to have a knife handy to cut in half. Good size on those and can order by piece. Try the Mackerel it's great. First time visiting this restaurant! It is located in a shopping plaza with plenty of parking. The staff are friendly and attentive. The restaurant is small but very clean. FYI - The lighting in the restroom is very dim. Everything we had was delicious! The menu has a variety of dishes to enjoy from sushi to teppan (basically hibachi). Fujiyama is my go to sushi spot. I've been dining here for over a decade and it's been pretty consistent. The owners/managers are cool. The servers are always attentive and I've never had to wait long for my orders. They recently remodeled and it's got more of a trendy vibe from the traditional Japanese style decor. It now offers added seating without the booths. I ordered a medley of sashimi over sushi rice. It was fresh and vibrant and definitely filled my sushi craving. Compared to the high end fusion sushi bars, it's the perfect place for me to get something I'm familiar with. Their ginger dressing is one of my favorites since it has a yummy creaminess to it. The miso soup has the right amount of seasoning, seaweed, and tofu. I didn't order a lot this go around but I usually get the Teppan Steak, Salmon Teriyaki Bento Box, or sushi rolls. I also enjoy their Gyoza, Shrimp Tempura, or Crab Rangoon when I order appetizers. They always have daily specials available. You can't beat the Happy Hour or Early Bird menus. It is a great spot for gatherings or events, birthday parties, or celebrations. The manager is very open to work with you. It's been a comfort place for me over the years. The sushi rolls and the crab Rangoon were very good. The second time that I attended on January 8, the food was good. It was lunchtime so we ordered off the lunch menu. I ordered crunchy baked salmon roll, and one California roll while we were waiting to order and while we ordered the staff checked on us about three times to me that was a little much give us a menu and give us some time . Let us order and give us some time and then check on us later. The Gentleman was in a rush to take our menus. I would've thought you would've left one menu just in case we want dessert. But since he took the menu we decided not to order dessert. The temperature in the restaurant was freezing.The gentleman seemed to be a little pissed off...because we were taking our time. Very welcoming from the moment we opened the door. The staff was very nice and on top of our needs. The location was clean well decorated. The food was great and came in timely manner. Only reason I am rating it a four was because I love gyoza and even though it was fresh and well seasoned, it was oily and tasted a little too fried compared to what I am used to. The rice in my meal with the steak and shrimp also tasted oily and actually lacked flavor but nothing some white sauce and soy sauce couldn't correct. I'm assuming it is since we went during their last few hours of being open. Overall it was a great date night meal and I will be returning to explore more of their sushi menu. It came with a double order of salad, instead of soup and salad, and with cream sauce instead of ginger dressing, since the Miso soup is not gluten free It was delicious! I also ordered a California Roll but they said the imitation crab meat (called krab or kani) was not gluten free. When we asked if we could substitute steamed shrimp they said yes! Our server took extra precautions to make sure my food was gluten free and even checked it before it was delivered to the table. With its close proximity to the college, I am sure that they get quite a bit of traffic from the University of Central Florida, both with the faculty and the students. As for the sushi, this is a good choice. They also have a good selection of other options for those who do not like or who are not in the mood for sushi. Service here is good and with it being in a shopping plaza, there is more than adequate parking. All in all, Fujiyama Sushi is a good option for either sushi or other Japanese options. It is extremely convenient to the University of Central Florida and is also convenient to both east Orlando neighborhoods as well as Oviedo. I guess that I will give it four stars. Probably the best sushi restaurant on the East side of Orlando. The cuts are thick and tender and the staff are constantly walking around and ready to get you whatever you need so you never have to wave someone down to get something extra or a refill on your drink. Most restaurants these days the staff are in their phones half the time. To me every restaurant should make their employees put their phones away during working hours because with the prices theses days you can easily burn through 40 dollars for lunch so why go somewhere that the service sucks until they are bringing you the bill and wishing you an awesome day. This place is kinda far from me but it was worth it. I love crab Rangoon's and theirs are really good. I also got the gyoza and the volcano roll and a bento box. I also got the sake that was really good too. The reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 is because our waitress only came to us twice without us having to wave her down. She then disappeared when we were waiting on our checks, and I placed a to go order that she forgot to put it in. Also I asked for rare steak and it was definitely well done.
