This is a sad day. I've been coming here for years, I've recommended them to many people. I had my birthday party with 12 people here last year, but I will never be back after tonight. My mom, sister in law and I went at 8:30p at night for a sushi roll. We all ate dinner earlier and just wanted one sushi roll to end the night. I also have a medical condition and can't eat large portions in one sitting. We were going to order a Magic roll to split. The server who said she was a manager took our table and told us the kitchen was closing soon. Cool, we just wanted one sushi roll and they were sitting other people too. When I told her we were splitting a roll and just wanted that, she got mad "there's an ordering minimum" what?! The second we said that, she caught an attitude. Shaking her head and rolling her eyes. My best friend and I were doing a Orlando Science Center event and decided to drive around to grab a meal beforehand. Several places were really packed so we kept driving till we went down Corrine drive and found a parking spot at the strip mall where Sushi Lola was. The spaces were crazy packed. We walked in and stood at the door, waiting for a good bit as the three servers handling a busy bunch of eaters, taking orders, bringing out plates, etc. Finally one of the tables was cleared and we were seated, the elder male server took the chopsticks and the little soy sauce cup, adjusting it correctly when it was moved by me before handing us menus and heading off to do other things. A few minutes later, one of the ladies came by to take drinks orders and our food requests. I went simply with a fountain drink ($4), a fire dragon roll ($17) and TNT roll ($17). My best friend got the tuna tartar ($15) and crazy Japanese roll ($16). Her tartar was freaking spicy and so was one of mine - the one with the small shrimp and mini scallops kicked my mouth with heat. Dang. The service was good but you need to be patient since they are busy. Once our rolls were handed off they pretty much left us alone and it took a bit to get the bill but we received little plastic wrapped chocolate cookies as a treat. So nice! This place that looks like a hole in the wall served up the most delicious spider roll I have ever had in Orlando. Crispy, sweet and delicious. We joined a friend at Sushi Lola's last Saturday night. I had never heard of or seen it, but I love the Corrine Dr area with its local flair, so of course I agreed to go. The restaurant is in a strip mall and has a small, but decent-sized footprint. To start, we ordered garlic edamame and shrimp gyoza. There were only 4 gyoza, so kind of awkward for 3 people to split. They tasted good, though. The cooked garlic on the edamame was amazing. It had a little zing to it. Delish! I ordered two sushi rolls for my meal -- the Dancing Shrimp and the Hot Mama. I thought the Dancing Shrimp would be better than it was (unless they brought me the wrong one -- who knows?). It was good, but not amazing. The Hot Mama, on the other hand, came out blazing! It was literally on fire! It was delivered to me wrapped in foil on a platter with fire all around it. The man who delivered it then used chopsticks to fold down the foil over the flames to put them out. Dinner and a show! I had no idea that would happen when I ordered it, and I've never seen a sushi roll delivered in that manner. It was so much fun. Even better, the Hot Mama was soooooooooo delicious. It said it was spicy, but it wasn't spicy to me or my companions who can't do spicy. I would totally order the Hot Mama again for the presentation and the flavor. We were brought three cookies with the check, which ended the night on a sweet note. I definitely would return to Sushi Lola's. Their menu is extensive -- both sushi and Korean dishes. We ordered the rainbow roll, playboy roll, sweet potato roll, calamari tempura, vegetable tempura, fried rice and a pot of tea. The sushi was incredibly fresh and the tempura was perfectly crunchy. The fried rice was probably the best I've ever had- we ordered that combo with shrimp, steak, and chicken. I wanted to eat every grain of rice. I usually drown calamari in lemon, but that was not even necessary in this case because it was perfectly cooked in the tempura batter. A true staple in the heart of the Mills area. This spot has a fantastic happy hour from 4-6 PM: two deluxe rolls for $25 -- a great deal. Not pictured here but highly recommended is the Tuna Crunch (crispy rice topped with tuna), which was easily my favorite item on the menu. The sushi overall was fresh, flavorful, and creative. The Pink Lady roll is perfect for anyone who loves cream cheese, while the Desiree roll, made with real crab, was my personal favorite. The only dish I didn't love was the fried rice -- the sesame oil was a bit overpowering for my palate. The biggest downside of the experience, however, was the service. Our server didn't seem very knowledgeable about the menu, simply repeating the descriptions when we asked questions. He also hovered uncomfortably at the table while we tasted everything, and when it came time to pay, we had to flag him down after watching him complete several other tasks before bringing us the check. I'm not sure if he was new, but it did make the experience feel a bit awkward. Overall, the food here is excellent -- fresh and full of flavor -- but the service left something to be desired. I can't believe I haven't written a review for this place. This was by far one of my favorite sushi spots but I feel like something's have changed. It's been a while since I've been here but I'm glad they still offer happy hour on Saturdays from 4-6PM. Not that many places offer that so it's nice to see but I do feel like it is a bit pricey or some of the rolls on the happy hour menu end up being the same price if you ordered it normally. The roll sizes are big so that's a plus. Unfortunately our server wasn't very helpful. He didn't know the menu well enough t answer any questions and he didn't seem eager to help find out the answer. I remember really enjoying this restaurant when I visited a few years ago. However, when I visited on Saturday night before my friend's birthday party, it turned out to be a bad decision. We waited for a table for roughly 30 minutes, and the staff didn't communicate with us at all while we were waiting. When our table was finally available, it took them another 10 minutes to clean and seat us. Once we sat down, our server informed us that they had fewer kitchen staff because there was no dishwasher staff on that day, so we couldn't order Kalbi. We could only order sushi. I wish they had told us that when we were waiting so that we could have decided whether to wait or go somewhere else. For appetizers, we ordered Baked Scallop which was good, but there wasn't much scallop or seafood in it. I ordered Spider Roll, Jazzy Roll with Salmon, and Wednesday Morning Roll, while my husband got Rendezvous Roll and Crazy Japanese Roll. Unfortunately, all the rolls were average. The rice was overcooked, and the sashimi didn't taste fresh to me. The deep-fried rolls and ingredients were also very cold. My favorite thing is the Galbi here with excellent cuts of meat and generous portions. The bimbap has the best taste and the japchae is chewy and just right. The experience is ok. This is definitely not a restaurant that you just pop into, on your way to an event. The space is small but they definitely optimized space by getting as many tables in there as possible. Every table was full at around 6:30 on a Friday. Definitely bring a jacket with you. It is freezing in there. The service was ok. You can tell the staff was very hurried. Took 15 minutes to get a fountain drink. We waited longer than expected for our food then even longer to get the check. I think it was just an unfortunate combination of a full house and not enough staff. The food was good. I wanted to get some premium rolls but once I realized timing would not be good, I just got a couple of basic rolls. Now I know to go there when I have time, not when I have somewhere to be. They have 80 rolls to choose from and it can be overwhelming, but they are all delicious. Our favorites are flaming dragon, dancing shrimp, and UCF roll! The best app on the menu is the fire jalepeno, stuffed with cream cheese and fried its heavenly!! It's so nice having a family- friendly reasonably priced sushi/Korean joint within walking distance of our house! They have a wide selection of rolls (many of them Orlando-themed) along with other Japanese and Korean items, all of which have been good in my experiences. The fancy rolls are really good, but the "basic" rolls are also excellent and they are 2 for $14 which is better than Publix (in so many ways!)-my son's favorite is the California roll (new sushi eater), but my favorite is the crunchy dragon roll and/or Volcano roll.
