Pros: Loved the Magical Dining menu they offered this year. I always question if the $60 ones are worth it. This one was. Ambiance is gorgeous inside. Intimate lighting, jamming music, and just high energy all around. Service was great. Our server was very attentive, the drinks kept flowing, and mostly importantly, we didn't feel rushed. It's always a rush to get Magical Dining people out the door, but not here. Loved it. The food was really, really good. It outshines so many other sushi places in Orlando. No wonder it's on the Michelin guide. Cons: Not a single con. A really nice experience. Magical Dining time! I vetted all 180+ menus, and picked a top seven. Kabooki made my top seven. That's a hard thing to do. There are a lot of good menus out there this year, but Kabooki just stood out. A good variety, great sounding flavors, customizable sushi entree. It was a clear good choice to make. Ambiance is always great at Kabooki. Dimly lit, a sleek, energetic bar right up front, an omakase bar over in the corner with a great view of the chef's working, and a playlist that just won't quit. It's all very swanky and full of hexagons. Service was great, too. We had a very nice, attentive server. And even though the pace was certainly not lackadaisical, we did not feel rushed at all, which is unusual for a Magical Dining reservation. Usually the restaurants can't wait to get us out the door, but here, we felt very welcome. It was nice. As for the food, for a $60 menu, they had their work cut out for them. would coming here be worth paying $40 total for both our meals? Long story short, yes, absolutely it was. Apps Maguro Truffle (tuna, bubu arare, shiitake crèma, balsamic truffle soy, serrano peppers). This was banging. Huge slabs of fresh tuna, covered in crispy crunchy little circles, and that shiitake crema, very umami, I licked the plate. I wasn't about to let any of that go to waste. Hamachi Carpaccio (Japanese yellowtail, yuzu tobiko, ponzu, kaffir lime oil, yuzu kosho, serrano peppers). This was not carpaccio. It was a menu play with the wagyu carpaccio right above it. But it was five excellent slices of fresh hamachi with a very bright sauce that it was laying in. Generous slices, too. Great apps. Mains Berkwood St. Louis Sticky Ribs (braised, then crispy tempura, tossed in smoked chili, hoisin sauce). I'll say it, these were the best Asian ribs I've ever had in Orlando. Tempura crispy exterior, melt in your mouth interior, and whatever they tossed it in, including sesame seeds, formed a beautiful little crust on the outside. Best bite of the night. Hands down. Two Makimono (pick 2: tom yum roll, hawaiian x.o roll, booki booki roll, spicy tuna roll). Tom Yum (panko shrimp, avocado, topped with torched salmon, tom yum aioli, thai chili flakes, micro cilantro, lemon wedge). Hawaii XO (yellowtail, avocado, tobanjan aioli, crispy shallots, topped with white fish, lemon confit, kaiware, pink salt). Both were very good rolls. The Tom Yum aioli was a very unique touch, which is what I was looking for. I'm so jaded with rolls nowadays, I really need to be impressed. The Hawaii roll was nice, too. Looking back, I don't recall or see any crispy shallots. Make sure to compare your rolls to the menu when you come here. Desserts C4 (chocolate lava cake with dulce de leche, vanilla ice cream, and chocolate ganache sauce). This was good. Textbook lava cake with all the decadent flavors you except, and a nice, cold ice cream to pair perfectly with it. Ube Cheesecake +$8 (graham cracker crust, topped with torched meringue, toasted coconut). Only two dollars more on the regular menu, but eight dollars more here. I still wanted it so badly, but I recommend you pass on this upgrade. It was a very good ube cheesecake, but it was not add-eight-dollars better than the creme brulee would have been. Overall, Kabooki is a very good little spot. With everyone and their mother offering fresh fish and sushi rolls nowadays, Kabooki stands above a lot of them in terms of quality and quantity of their offerings. No wonder it comes Michelin recommended. I'll definitely be back one day. read more

I finally came for the first time tonight for dinner for Magical Dining. We made a reservation despite being a Monday and it was quite busy. The restaurant looks small and unassuming from the outside but once inside you can see it's much larger than anticipated and well decorated. The lighting also seemed dim enough to offer ambience but still be able to see. The staff all provided incredible service, especially our server who made excellent recommendations and the bussers who kept our waters full and quickly cleared used dishes. We loved everything we got from the cocktails to the food. Everything was super fresh, including the Wagyu Carpaccio and sushi. Everything was well presented and came out fairly quickly. The rice was a huge portion and I couldn't tell you between the c4 and ube cheesecake which was better. I look forward to visiting again soon! read more

Our server Michelle was very nice and offered good input to our questions about the dishes. We also had the honor to talk with Chef Henry Moso- we had a great conversation about the sushi and he even presented us with a dish. I revisited again after a few years. The menu has changed quite a bit throughout the years, but it is still very pricey. This time I went with my husband and we ordered a few small plates and an espresso martini. The espresso martini was pretty standard, but we've definitely had better. The shishito peppers were okay, but I feel like I've gotten more in the past with an order. The karaage was highly disappointing, the sauce was overwhelming and made the fried chicken coating slightly soggy. I think a dry seasoning would've paired better. The beef cheek had nice presentation, but didn't really impress with the flavor; there's better places for yakitori. The otoro we got was decent. The ribs were my favorite of the night with good sauce and they fell off the bone. And then my real favorite of the night was the ube cheesecake, so delicious and flavorful! Came here on a Friday night and it was busy! The location is unassuming, right off of 50. There's not a lot of parking so you may need to plan for that. You can park behind the building but it was unclear to me if it was a tow a way zone or not. For Kabooki Sushi, the ambiance was low light and romantic (I needed the little lamp light). We sat down with a chilled bottle of champagne already at the table and our server immediately poured us all glasses to cheers with. This is one of my all time favorite restaurants so it's always a fantastic experience. I've had almost everything on the menu but some dishes I gravitate towards are the tuna truffle cold tasting dish, miso soup, scallop nigiri, tuna nigiri, all the rolls are fabulous, the udon noodles, mushroom dumplings, and nigiri flight of 10 picked from the chef. I've had some great sushi in the past, and I would put Kabooki's offerings in that list, if not just above my list of greats. The service was attentive. The servers weren't in your way or constantly in your face, but you knew they were nearby if you needed help. The ambience: dimly lit, not too loud at all, and it felt like a very posh dining establishment. Great date night place. They do have a complimentary valet, however our valet was expecting a tip. Parking is very difficult without using the valet, so that's the only part I didn't like about the entire experience. We hadn't been to Kabooki in years!! So glad we decided to do a date night here again, we were way overdue. The resturant got a facelift since then. It looked very modern and sleek. Our server was wonderful and the best part was obviously, the food! We started with drinks and I loved my Lychee Princess. Then we got an order of the garlic teriyaki edamame for the table, which was tasty. I love a little flair to my edamame. Next, I did the tuna nigiri sampler. Had the best birthday dinner here, maybe the best dining experience of my life. My husband took me for my 27th and we did the magical dining menu. He asked for a private corner booth and even though it was taken at first we only waited about 10 minutes. While waiting I ordered the "Don't Make Me Blush" cocktail and it completely blew me away. It tasted exactly like biting into a fresh yuzu. No ice, just perfectly chilled, and beautifully presented with four drops of yuzu oil. Easily the best cocktail I've ever had. For starters we had the Tiger Cream and Hamachi Carpaccio. Both were excellent but the Tiger Cream with yuzu crème fraîche was unreal. The fish tasted impossibly fresh. For entrées we tried every roll offered which included the Tom Yum, Ghost, Hawaiian x.o, and Booki Booki. Each one was melt in your mouth perfection. The Tom Yum roll was my favorite but honestly every roll was amazing. Even their spicy mayo was the best I have ever had. For dessert my husband ordered the mochi trio while I went with the Ube cheesecake. That cheesecake was next level. The graham cracker crust was the perfect texture and the ube filling was moist, flavorful, and unforgettable. It was the best dessert I have ever eaten. Every single course was a 10/10. Bite30 is always fun, but there were some wins and some misses here. First off, we had to ask for the bite30 menu, and heard other have to request it throughout our stay, so it seemed like they werent marketing it at all. When we received it, the font was Sooo tiny, we almost had to use our phones and we both have 20/20 vision. Im sure anyone older or with vision imparements would have to use their phones to magnify it. We ordered various appetizers and entries for our meals and the servings were so tiny, I was concerned I was dropping $100 and leaving hungry, but it ended up being just the right amount of food. The show stopper was the dessert though. We ordered the carrot cake and the ube cheesecake (upcharge), both were spectacular. Definitely not on the top of my list for bite30 restaurants, but if your looking for a really nice sushi night, this is a good spot. read more

I've always wanted to try Kabooki Sushi and when I saw it was participating with Bite30 this year, I figured it was a perfect time to go. Kabooki can get packed pretty fast so I would advise setting a reservation just to be safe. Once we were seated we asked for the Bite30 menu with prefixed pricing much similar to that of magical dining. Just be aware that they upcharge for anything that's not on the bite30 menu so buyer beware. For appetizers we ordered the Maguro Truffle and Brussels Sprouts, which were recommended by the waitress. Both appetizers were fresh and delicious and came to our table pretty fast. We also ordered 2 drinks. The drinks were good but I felt for the price they were quite small. For our entrees I ordered 2 rolls from the bite30 menu, one roll had steak on top and I believe the other roll had fried shrimp in it. For the second entree it was the Berkwood St. Louis Sticky Ribs. The rolls were light, tasty, and some of the freshest sushi rolls I've ever had. The ribs were big, tender, and flavorful. The bite30 menu came with a lot of food and everything tasted well made with quality ingredients. For dessert we had carrot cake and ube cheesecake. The carrot cake was delicious, not overly sweet, and the perfect portion. I never had anything ube but ube cheesecake was amazing, creamy, flavorful, and also not overly sweet. This review is for Kabooki Sushi's original location, East Colonial, in Northeast Orlando. It opened in April 2013. A second location opened in Sand Lake, closer to the resorts and theme parks, in May 2019. Shout-out to our friend and Orlando native Anand Deshpande for recommending Kabooki. "Contemporary Japanese cuisine" is how the business is marketed, so it's got more Asian fusion and Westernized elements, as opposed to a traditional Japanese restaurant. The interior design is modern and stylish. You can dress up or down. I saw groups dressed both ways. This spot is ideal for a nice, romantic date night thanks to the dim ambient lighting. We had a party of five, sat at one of the round tables, and celebrated our friend's birthday. In addition to nigiri, sashimi, and rolls, Kabooki offers omakase and moriwase (chef's choice meals; not necessarily sushi). Our friend got a Japanese Highball, which was served in a beer mug as well. It looked cool with long, clear, cocktail ice. She enjoyed her cocktail too. It's made with Suntory Whisky Toki. In general, the food both looked and tasted terrific. Every dish was plated carefully and presented beautifully. The Nabe (Japanese-style hot pot) was finished at the table. Our table ordered two of those. Two servers came at the same time to crack eggs and mix all the ingredients together. The dish was very flavorful and satisfying, rich and full of umami. The crispy bits of rice on the surface of the hot pot reminded me of eating Korean stone bowl mixed rice (bibimbap); similar. The Bluefin Tasting was excellent. We got three kinds of tuna sashimi: (1) akami, which is cut from the fish's upper back and spine and (2 and 3) chutoro and otoro, which are medium fatty and most fatty tuna belly, respectively. All slices were fresh, thick cut, and tasted amazing. The chutoro and otoro melted in our mouths, the otoro especially. Both of the Cold Tastings, the Hamachi Carpaccio and the Leche de Tigre, were delicious. Both dishes were flavorful, but not overpowering. Again, they were plated carefully with a fine attention to detail. My wife and I love mushrooms, which is why we ordered the One Up. While it was good, it wasn't memorable. As someone who constantly drives by Kabooki and finally decided to try it, sadly this one was kind of a let down. My partner and I sat at the bar and decided to order a couple of rolls and the Pork Nabe and the flavors for us ideally weren't ultimately there. The service was quick but the waiters themselves were not attentive and to be honest kind of dismissive that we were even there entirely. As a lover of sushi, the presentation was nice but it kind of tasted a bit bland and lacked depth in the flavor profile of each roll as every single one tasted exactly the same but all were curated of different seafoods. Can't wait to go back! I will say the parking lot can get kind of crazy. There is valet on one end but you can go to the opposite side for self parking. We went on a weekend with no reservations and it was quite busy. We were able to sit at the lounge (which is full service) and were able to do the Magical Dining menu. Everything was fantastic, from the cocktails to the hamachi crudo, to the rolls. My husband loved the ribs and said it was quite possibly the best he'd ever have! The ambiance is perfect for a date night or night out with friends. It is dimly lit with trendy music in the background. I thoroughly enjoyed our time here and cannot wait to return. Ambience is wonderful. Chill vibes with house music in the lounge and plenty of seating in the restaurant side. The portions were a little small for the prices but all the fish was very fresh. I was taken back by the salmon nigiri since it had wasabi underneath but overall it was good. I highly recommend the lychee princess cocktail, it's perfectly balanced. If you decide to visit Kabooki, the parking is limited. However, there is onsite valet. read more

This was a nice spot for sushi. It wasn't beyond my expectations but well executed overall besides the service being a bit slow. Ordered a drink that never came which was odd and then my Nigiri set was finished for a while which I saw from the bar, but wasn't served for almost 10 minutes. I thought the nigiri set was worth it and the Kaisen Don as well. I'd go back if I was close by. read more

I am back after a few years. The food is still delicious, 5 Our server, Kimo, 5 He is full of energy, explained the dishes, gave us suggestions and very attentive. My favorite from his suggestions, Maguro Truffle, Sticky Ribs, Hawaii XO Roll and the Double Tekka Roll. For dessert we had the Ube Cheese Cake. Yes! I would order it again. Sweet, smooth, perfect to share with two. The ambiance, 4 The decor is cheeky/romantic with dim lights. But noise level was pretty high. It's ok if you are sitting right next to each other. I can hear larger parties speaking louder to be able to carry a conversation. Restroom situation, 2 There is 1 bathroom for females and 1 bathroom for males. I didn't really noticed it until the line came out of the bathroom area and people were standing near our table. When I needed to use it, wow, I was next in line but it took forever. Something to consider upgrading or maybe make them unisex so both stalls can be used. The restaurant added a lounge next door. It has its own door or you can access through the restaurant. It also has its own cocktail menu that you can order from while dining. These are suggestions for improvement but not important enough to stop me from coming back. read more

Kabooki!!!! Our experience was absolutely wonderful. Having both worked in various restaurants during our young adult life - we are extremely picky. Kabooki is expensive but you get what you pay for. Our server Day was incredible, she made great recommendations and paced the meal appropriately so we did not feel rushed to order or free our table by a certain time. Day made excellent recommendations that we were extremely satisfied with. The atmosphere was intimate but lively, you could speak 1 on 1 but still enjoy the background noise.
