Fuku Tea is my absolute favorite boba spot ever! My first time trying boba was actually here when I helped move my sister into college. When I came to Pitt, it became routine that I grabbed a bubble tea once a week before class or as a treat on the weekends. I am always sure to stop in and grab my favorite drink if I am in the area. Not only are the workers super friendly, but the drinks are delicious and consistently good. I love the bright interior of the shop and that there is inside seating, so you can enjoy your drink inside (especially during the colder months in PA). My go-to order is a black iced tea lemonade with strawberry flavor and lychee popping boba, but there are so many flavor options that you can really mix it up based on your personal preference. Its location on Forbes Ave makes it fairly easy to get to, especially if you are a student living on Pitt's campus. Do yourself a favor and grab a bubble tea if you are ever in the area! read more

We stopped by yesterday around 6:30pm. There were only two other people in the shop besides the staff so we didn't have to wait to order. The inside is small with not a ton of seating so keep that in mind for big groups. There's a table for 8, four chairs next to the window with a narrow table, and a long bench to sit at. We ordered our boba and pearls were really soft and chewy. My friend's mango slushie was really refreshing and I liked my taro boba. read more

We've been suffering through some mediocre Boba when luckily we came across this place when we were touring University of Pittsburgh. The neighborhood is very lively and it's a short walk to a park to enjoy. The selection seems great, tea is not too sweet, there is plenty of Boba. We really like the flavor of all of ours. Their flavors are very natural and delicious, and a particular favorite is their Rose flavor milk tea. The people who work behind the counter are always very nice too! Fuku tea has been my favorite boba spot in Pittsburgh for half a decade now. Other boba shops have undercooked tapioca, but theirs is always fresh and so good. The tapioca is the best, it's not too small and it's always cooked right. You can't go wrong with a large #1 order of "Black & Gold" with 50% sweetness. They have really good drinks my favorite during the summer is the Guava or Mango Smoothie with tapioca. In the winter I get hot milk tea with tapioca. A lot of the reviews talk about how sweet the drinks are, but you can always adjust the sweetness. I always get 50-75% sweetness. I've tried their Hong Kong milk tea, brown sugar milk tea and mango green tea. Overall their black teas with milk are too sweet, and you can't really taste the tea. I do like that they use real milk. Their flavored green teas are not bad. I like that they have different loose leaf tea options, so maybe they do better with just straight up tea. But for a bubble tea place to not do well in the classic milk tea is a little disappointing. Service is usually friendly and prompt. read more

I personally love a boba shop that prioritizes tea-based drinks as much as milk-based ones for the non-dairy folks. Fuku tea is fantastic and not overwhelming with the number of choices like other tea shops. I got a black and gold tea (passion fruit and green tea) with boba and it was so delicious. I opted for the larger size because it was only ~$.75 more. I usually ask for half sweetness but half sweet was still pretty sweet for me. I enjoyed it but would want to try maybe 1/4 sweet next time and see how that tastes. Great tea, great menu, and the staff was really nice! It didn't take very long for our teas to be ready either despite them being pretty busy on a weekend. While visiting Pittsburgh, we were craving boba and Fuku Tea definitely hit the spot. The ordering process was easy- you order online, wait five mins, then head inside. They're not allowing customers inside to hang around so you just grab your drink and go. Ordered a mango passion fruit black tea with boba and jelly as well as a regular boba milk tea. I loved my mango passion fruit tea! It was the perfect amount of sweetness (opted for the less sweet option). It was a bit tart and super refreshing. The texture of the bubbles was so perfect. Often bubbles at other places would be either too hard or too mushy but these ones were nice and chewy! I would definitely come back if I were to visit Pittsburgh again. I've been very hesitant to try bubble tea. Something about the texture freaked me out. Luckily i was convinced to try and I'm so glad I did! This location is taking safety to the best extremes. You have to order online and wait outside for your tea, thus eliminating the crowd. I ordered the pina colada green tea because frankly I was intimidated by all the choices in a build your own. It tasted exactly like a pina colada only lighter. I got the popping strawberry bubbles and while the first couple took me off guard (i almost inhaled them), they were like a hidden treat in an already delicious drink. I was most impressed by how quickly and efficiently our drinks were made. We waited all of maybe 3 minutes on a hot day. Very good spot for milk tea, fruit tea and so many other options. The menu is extensive. You can stand in line to place your order or navigate the options online and have it sitting on a table ready for you to pick up. The staff is very nice and helpful in making sure you are getting exactly what you want, down to your milk selection and sweetness level. My large milk tea with tapioca cost $5, which I think is a very good value for the money compared to some other spots. I also appreciate that they are currently being very conscious of Covid with the no-contact pickup option, staff behind plexiglass and being carryout only. Unfortunately for me, I really wanted a traditional HK milk tea with boba, but wasn't sure what the tradition milk base was (it's not soy!). That's on me, not them. The flavors are great, and don't sleep on the frozen drinks and smoothies they have either. The service is very fast, it's clear they take pride in what they do. Fuku Tea keeps things fairly simple with just a few specialty drinks. I wanted to do my review with the staple Black Milk Tea for an easier comparison. The tea itself taste like it's just a cheap bag tea, and their normal sweetness ended up being too sweet for me and I tend to like things on the sweeter side. It wasn't "bad," but it was very average and about as good as most could make at home with their own tea bags. They have three different dairy milk options (whole, 2%, and half and half), but there's only one non-dairy option, soy milk. The one bright spot was the boba. If I had a free drink for every 12 drinks I ordered here, I'd have two free drinks... and I'm well on my way to a third at the moment. So yeah, being close to visiting Fuku Tea almost three dozen times, I'd say I'm a fan. I consistently order the same thing, and could probably order it in my sleep... small black tea with whole milk, normal sweetness, and tapioca, usually hot. I like my boba with "real" milk rather than powdered milk which is why I'm drawn here, plus the tapioca is regularly quite good, which in my definition, means not too tough to chew. Despite the seemingly boringness of my order, I do sometimes switch it up, depending on the weather. I go for hot and toasty in winter (or as it happens, temps below 60) and the more refreshing and cold version in summer - both are great! read more

Great bubble tea! We've been coming here for years and if you order properly, you will get what you want. I have tried countless other places both in and around Pittsburgh, other states, and Queens & K-town in NYC (Grace Street cafe in K-town has no competition that I have found aside from Fuku.). I have ordered many bubble teas at those new places and am often left wanting. From cheap powdered concoctions to very subpar tapioca pearls, to odd tasting tea base, it is hard to find a good bubble tea. There are bound to be bad experiences at any business, but don't let that sway you from trying their menu. Be willing to try new recipes of your own design until you find your match. It took me a couple of different tweaks to find my go to tea. read more

3.5 stars Boba is one of the must haves for lots of college students, and Fuku tea positions itself in one of the most popular areas of college campus Pitt to grab that attention. Fuku tea is fast and efficient, which is really nice for peak hours and grabbing a quick snack. Also, most of the drinks have decent flavor and tapioca is ok, but the drinks mainly lack appealing colors and authentic flavor. For example, the Thai Tea is very unnaturally pasty orange colored, which makes it seem fake and less appetizing. Then, the fruit flavors they offer are also very overpowering. Asking for a peach flavor add-on can potentially change your tea into sugar water. Which brings me to another point: their sugar to flavor balance is really wacky. They don't bother to think about whether or not certain flavors (eg jasmine tea) are already sweet and should have less sugar to start with. This causes a lot of drinks to be too sweet. Just the convenience and the fact that boba exists near college is awesome, but the drinks aesthetics and sugar balance could drastically improve the quality of presentation and taste of the drinks. read more

I don't give a Fuku whether this is the highest rated Bubble Tea shop in Pitt. To me, it's nowhere near the level of I Tea and Sumi's and my other faves. People rave that this is the best Bubble Tea shop in town, but it's not. In some ways it's good, in other ways not so good, but it has nothing on Rose Tea, I Tea, Sumi's, and Chick N Bubbly's selections. It's better than some others though. Fuku Tea is my go to place for bubble tea! The prices are pretty good, and they have a rewards system so make sure to put your phone number in at the register! They have a lot of great options, so even the people who say they aren't "tea people" are sure to find something they like. The tapioca bubbles are always the right size and consistency, which I feel like a lot of other places in Pittsburgh struggle with. There is almost always a line out the door on warmer days, so be prepared to wait a bit for your bubble tea fix on those days. Also, sometimes the quality of your drink depends on who makes it, and it seems they have a quick employee turnaround (but that's to be expected as the college students they hire graduate and move away!) read more
