I'm so happy I found this salon! Everyone is so kind and you feel welcome the second you walk in the door. Michele introduced herself and offered a warm hand towel and hand sanitizer. We discussed my hair and the best options while she gave me an incredibly relaxing scalp massage with peppermint oil. We discussed what I was looking for but she's honestly so talented she knew what I wanted without me even telling her or showing pics of my pre-COVID hair. I'm quite particular about my hair and received the best cut and style from Michele. I have relatively long, fine, straight hair that's mixed in with shorter hair regrowth following hair loss. She kept as much length as possible and blended in longer layering beautifully! She's beyond fabulous and I highly recommend her and Fulgere. What a breath of fresh air. This salon was recommended to my wife and I, by a friend, and it did not disappoint. Cindy, the owner, was so lovely and welcoming-- she had a smile one her face as soon as I walked in the door and made me feel like I've known her forever. Just so lovely. Emily was my stylist and was amazing. Several times throughout the cut, she checked in, to make sure things were progressing as I had hoped (the length/shape of my cut, etc.) That was the first time I've had someone do that, and it was so nice to know I'd be walking out with what I had anticipated. Can't say enough good about this place. Smells wonderful, talented stylists, staff who clearly enjoys one another and oh the massage I get before my cut and during my hair wash. I go toEmily and my mum goes to Cyndi, the owner, and I wouldn't trade them for the world. Cyndi does a wonderful job on my mum and keeps her entertained. My mum has dementia and gets confused and Cyndi just rolls with it and always manages to get a smile from her. Not only is she really good at the cut and style, she is one of those people who clearly finds joy in her job and her salon. She keeps a staff that is always kind and fun. And she has developed a real community spirit around the salon. Emily has an incredible eye for what works well on her customer, and she's a perfectionist. Getting my hair cut at Fulgere's is one of the most relaxing things I can do. Horrible... Cindy the owner absolutely cannot do hair. I told her I was growing out my hair and then chopped all of it. Then told me because I had thin hair it's better to keep it short. And it's curly so the last thing I want is short hair in the summertime I looked like I had a frizzy man bun all summer. Then I asked her to tapper it in. I love Aveda concept salon. There are few in the town. I think I visited all of them. Fulgere salon is the top of my favorite right now. Edna is my stylist. She is very professional, skilled and does great job! She pays attention to the details. I love how she does especially "Balayage", it's a type of high lights but more natural looking and I think only skilled stylist can pull it off. I left behind a hairstylist in SF that I really loved. It had taken me 26 years of curly life to find her, and I've been reluctant to begin the search again out this way. In two years of being out here, I've gotten my hair cut exactly twice (today being the second time). The first time I trekked into Boston and handed over $80 for a cut at an extremely well-reviewed salon that did not do so well with my curls, and I left feeling pretty burnt by the whole thing. Six months later . . . I decided to take a chance on Fulgere, an Aveda salon, because, although there are only a few reviews up for this salon, they're all very positive. Additionally, Aveda's Be Curly line of products has stood me in good stead for years now--the products are reasonably priced, work well, and only require a small amount per application so they last forever. I figured there was at least a reasonable chance that at a place that sells high-quality curly products, there would be employees who actually know how to deal with curly hair. And I was right!! My appointment was with Edna. She was able to take me right on time, got me a drink, gave me a shoulder and scalp massage, and then really listened when I told her what I wanted and gave me the cut that I had in my mind. She also gave me a free makeup application after and wrote down what she'd used without actively trying to sell me anything. The salon feels like an unexpected refuge in the midst of Grove St., and there's a good vibe between everyone who works there as well as the clients. Many salons unfortunately tend towards the catty side of things, but the environment felt really supportive. There were a lot of regulars there as well--always a good sign. There's free parking across the street; you take a ticket and the salon will validate it for you. (This I found out after sketchily parking at Tweedy's up the street.) And the whole experience cost me $40 plus tip (they don't take credit card tips, but they made an exception for my first-time ignorance). I hadn't even bothered to ask ahead of time what the pricing was, and was floored by how inexpensive it ended up being. I walked out feeling light in hair, light in heart, and still heavy in wallet. read more

Recently had a cut and color done at Fulgere. The space is beautiful and the staff are great! They really make it a relaxing experience for you, even offering "mini-manis" and mini facials while your color processes. The Aveda product line is an obvious plus about Fulgere. With only vague guidance from us, Emily did a beautiful updo for my daughter that surpassed our expectations - lots of pretty details & perfect for her and for the occasion. The salon interior is really nice, with lots of natural light and a spacious waiting area. Would definitely go back. I am not terribly picky about who cuts my hair but I like someone who takes the time to do it right. I found that again today with Anthony. He really paid attention to the detail and made sure everything was to my liking. It can be hard to find someone who cares as much about how your hair looks as you do and I really got the feeling he did. I got my hair cut + highlights/tone from one of the new blonde gals who started working there this past year. She was very nice at first, talked about her apartment woes, but did a terrible job with the highlights (took two smoke breaks, too which was gross) . The overall cost was pretty pricey to begin with for Worcester, but Im fine on supporting good locally owned businesses in this great city!. This was a shock since I had been a long time customer , and when all of my co-workers and BF even mentioned the orange tones in my hair...so I decided I was not alone in what was an overwhelming brassy highlight mess! I called to explain and was asked to come back. When I came back in to have her correct the issue, she was polite, but a bit defensive, as if it was personal opinion of the obvious brassiness. She added more highlights to correct her mistake. Afterwards, it still looked pretty bad, if not worse. I told her I was still not pleased and she acted as if I was blind/crazy. She then walked off unprompted to the back, proceeded to talk about me in another room to the other hairdressers as if I was being difficult. I felt so embarrassed and uncomfortable, that I immediate went to the owner who happened to be at the front. She was so supportive and nice at first, and she then took care of my hair, as this original hair dresser had to leave to go home but not before she bitched about me to the other hairdressers who also acted like they couldnt see the obvious F**k up this women did to my hair. The owner did what a owner should have: corrected the problem and make the customer happy, but there was some hints of condescending tones in her dialog with me that made me feel uncomfortable, but I paid a tip anyways because I felt like a burden. I am a pretty easy going person, and maybe my expectations where high after being a customer for some time, but I will never return again. The amount of defense in obvious bad coloring job is just shameful, and even thought the owner sort of corrected the problem, she didnt have to be rude or mocking of my desires of decent highlights in the end. Its sad that I have to part ways, but I found a better salon on Shrewsbury st for a lot less. read more
