This is the salon to go to if you are looking for a new place you can rely on. I was new to town and tried a few places and well, this place won me over with great service, talented stylists and a good atmosphere. The owner even realized some of the decor was dated and gave the place a make-over as well so some of the previous photos will look a little different when you actually go there. Great service for both appointments but each time I specifically asked how much the appointment would be and the stylist told the receptionist to charge me more both times. Pretty irritating. The first appears twenty extra the second appointment was thirty five extra. Didn't get a detailed receipt so not sure what that was about. This salon has changed drastically. it appears to be under renovation however I was told it was not. The stylist talked nonstop about her personal life after I told her I like quiet. Previously, the salon offered a scalp and hand massage but this did not happen. My cut is uneven. She did not use any product. AND, it cost me $75.00 before tip. I was 10min late and called ahead to let them know - they said that's fine, we just might not be able to dry your hair, which I found fair but bizarre for a big salon like this and given my haircut was going to be pretty simple - trim of my existing layers. I get there 10min late and they take 25min total on the wash and cut, which takes us to 35min total if we count the 10min I was late. Fine, but the appointment was listed in my email as a 45min slot (but note that on the website it says 45-75min) - so that leaves 10 more minutes at least to dry my hair. Let's be real, a blowout with no curls takes 10min, I'm not a newbie to salons. They say they can't dry my hair, even though the salon is nearly empty. Lastly, let's talk about the cut itself - they didn't even ask me how much I wanted cut off - they ended up cutting off about 4 inches, taking my hair from a long length to a medium length.... Not what I wanted.... Every other salon I've been to cuts a piece and asks if the length is ok - I would've preferred if they just took their time on my cut instead of rushing, since they weren't planning on drying my hair anyway! Also didn't give me a mirror to look at the back. I don't even like the cut either - hair looks so choppy now. Just such a bizarre experience overall, glad I don't have to go back. It was $75 for the 25min wash and cut by the way, with no drying/styling. Left pretty annoyed. Only positive was the staff was nice. read more

Reymond Anthony is amazing! I used to travel all the way to Miami just to find someone who could get my balayage and highlights right on my naturally dark base. Reymond absolutely nailed it, giving me the most gorgeous balayage I've ever had, full of dimension and character. He also gave me a haircut that added so much volume--I'm obsessed! Reymond is super professional, really kind, and 100% bilingual!! I never write reviews unless something is truly exceptional, and this definitely was. Today was my fifth visit to the salon and sadly my last. My stylist left the salon and was given the option to book with a different one. No problem, but I asked if there would be a price difference in my service with my new provider so I could plan. I was told the pricing would be the same. Cool. Flash forward to today. I was charged way over what my previous stylist did for the exact same service. I just can't support a business I don't feel I can trust. The worst part is that this could have been avoided had the desk been more communicative, I would have waited for different stylist. For reference I got a trim and root touch up and was charged $200. I scheduled two appointments with two separate stylists in January for my sister and I for Prom, which is in May. I get a text in March saying that we had to be moved to the same stylist and one of the times changed, that's okay! I get a text the other day moving us to 9 and 10 in the morning because that stylist is no longer with the salon. Prom isn't until 6, that's not going to work. I tell them we can't do that and ask for our time slots back and they tell me they are no longer available. I booked in January and it's now April that they've cancelled our appointments. I understand that people leave but they know it's Prom season, the scheduling definitely could've been planned out better. No salons have availability now and my sister and I are scrambling to get appointments. read more

The stylists and receptionist were all incredibly nice, especially Raymond who cut and styled my hair! Hear me out- I went there to have my split dye re-done which means bleaching my roots on one side, then coloring the roots purple and the length of the hair a teal color, then dying my other side totally black, then trimming just my ends. My stylist was very informative and knowledgeable. She did a great job. But at the end when they said it was $370 I almost died! That's my bad for not asking how much it would cost prior to booking, but other salons I've been to only charged me $160-$200 MAX (not including tip). I have no idea why the same exact process I have gotten everywhere else was over double what I've paid anywhere else. I had two cups of tea. Do they charge for that? How much? It's insane to me that it cost that much. I'm too broke to get my hair done here lol! Might have to take the hour drive to my old stylist who only charges $160 and does just as good of a job. I really like this salon but I can't drop $370+ a tip every 4-6 weeks. That's crazy lol read more

I had an appointment that I booked months in advance for a partial foil + haircut. 3 hours before my appointment they called and cancelled my appointment completely. They offered me an appointment for 30 minutes before my original appointment with someone different (I am blonde + need to be very particular on who colors my hair) and said they would "try to do as many foils as they can" with no haircut since they didn't have the time. For a salon who has a 24 hour cancelation policy for their clients, they clearly have a double standard for their self + cancelling. This was not my first bad experience with this salon and I will be finding another salon and no longer recommending it to my family or friends. read more

Today was my first time visiting orange salon. I decided to come here (an hour away from where I live on a good day) because somehow I came across Raymond's Instagram and was blown away by his talent. The salon is clean and beautiful and everyone is so friendly. I got a cut and color by Raymond and both the cut and color was the best I have ever gotten... anywhere. I went there looking to do a full foil color and my hairdresser didn't want to do it. She literally said "I don't want to dye your roots, there's no point." She dictated my entire idea. I wanted everything to be lighter and she put in some color but made it darker than I wanted when I consistently said I wanted to do it lighter. She was nice & did a good job on my hair, but she only foiled some of i (partial foil).. At the counter, she told the receptionist it was a full foil...I paid all this money to not get anywhere near what I wanted. I recently went to Raymond for a cut and color. He was so kind and really listened to me when I told him what I wanted. I have a lot of super fine hair, and he gave me an AMAZING cut and blow out! I left with tons of volume and beautiful body... EXACTLY what I wanted!!! I couldn't have asked for a better look. Even my color was spot on. The worst salon ever! I scheduled a hair color appointment and they called me that morning telling me the stylist was leaving early and couldn't color my hair that evening. No offer to reschedule with another stylist that day. Nothing. I asked the manager to have the owner give me a call and guess what he doesn't care. Do not bother and waste your time! First impressions are everything. Especially in retail and spas. As esthetic and clean this place looked for the whole five minutes I was in there grabbing a tiny bottle of Moroccan Oil, no one greeted me or asked me if they could help me. The woman at the cash register was unfriendly and somewhat snotty, looked at me like I couldn't afford what I was buying or amy of their services. Maybe because I was dressed in my scrubs because I was coming from work, or the obvious roots of my hi lights that don't look all that great. I was considering scheduling a full foil appointment however with the experience I had today, I won't be walking back through those doors, regardless of how much I need to purchase another bottle of Moroccan Oil. I'll find elsewhere to buy. Edit 6/2/15 Today I had the pleasure of getting a quick cut and style here at Orange Salon. I had a great experience with my stylist Carissa. She cut the exact right amount to get rid of my split ends and I have to say I truly enjoyed the scalp and hand massage. What I can do with it is limited by the texture; although I eye edgy layered cuts with envy, I've always felt limited to variations on the soccer-mom bob. I'm not a soccer mom. I'm not even a mom. When I moved to the area, I followed the trail of Yelp to Orange Salon and Rachael. I could not be happier with the way she cuts my hair. Yesterday, I had a fabulous spa manicure with Jessica. She was so friendly and welcoming from the moment I came in, offering to hang my coat and umbrella in the coat room, offering coffee. She was very thorough and skilled in performing the manicure, complete with a relaxing sugar scrub and hand massage. We had a great time chatting about her upcoming trip and swapping travel stories. She is so personable. The entire salon was very comfortable, while also being stylish and trendy. While some salons feel stuffy, I felt alright being there with no makeup and unkempt hair. The patrons were diverse in all ways and each stylist was friendly no matter who their client. There are really only positive things to say about my first visit to Orange. The manicure table at the back by the hair sinks felt a little out of place - like we were in the middle of everything or in the way. However, Jessica's attention to me as a client still created a relaxing, spa experience. read more

I come in every few months to "update" my hair. I had an appointment with Paul and he took the time to go over exactly what I was looking for and what might like good for her. I initially had asked for base color with some light foils. He explained to me how that would be a little excessive and unnecessary. We agreed on some highlight/lowlight foils. In the meantime, I was offered a beverage. While my hair was washed, I got a lovely scalp massage followed by an arm massage. Orange Salon makes my hair happy! I discovered Orange Salon when I worked in the plaza. I have been going here for about a year and have never had a negative experience. Laura does a great job making my Plain Jane straight brown hair look amazing! The most important thing is that it looks great long after I leave the salon and have to recreate the look at home! The prices are slightly higher than other salons in Central MA, but you get what you pay for here! Did I mention they give complimentary hand and arm massages while your hair is being washed? Orange Salon is just not for the ladies, either! My boyfriend was tired of having bad hair cut experiences so I sent him to Laura at Orange Salon. He has not gone anywhere else since! I have only gone to Orange Salon with an appointment. I am not sure if they take walk ins so I urge to call before you head down to ensure you will be able to be accommodated. The service is so great that I am sure they will try their hardest to fit you in if they can. So, in summary, I cannot urge you to go here if you do not mind paying a little extra. I have been going to Orange Salon for the past few years for most of my hair cuts. I have always had the most amazing experience. Today 2/26/15 I went in to see Kelly for my first color appointment at Orange Salon and my first color treatment in two years. I came in right when they opened and I was offered water, tea or coffee, which I declined. Then Kelly sat with me and went over color options and offered beverage options to me again, which I declined. She put in my foils and when we were waiting for them to sit she offered beverage options to me for a third time, which I actually then took a coffee because I had time to sit and wait. I loved that she actually asked me more than once. Kelly ended up using less foils than she planned and made sure that I paid for exactly what I got and nothing more. My color is AMAZING and exactly what I wanted. She then was able to show me some great shampoo and conditioner options. The customer service here is amazing and the desk staff and always great. My confirmation email was sent to my spam folder and I left a voicemail to confirm the night before and the receptionist made sure to text me in the morning to make sure I knew the time my appointment was. I recommend this salon to EVERYONE I meet. I started coming here as a broke college student and saved my money to come here specifically because they make me feel like a princess and everyone deserves that. read more

I really appreciate this gesture. In 2 days I got my appointment with Jennifer and she did a great job, explaining me very politely what would suit my face type and listening to what I am specifically looking for. I would highly recommend this place for trusted stylists. My review for first visit This was my first time at Orange. My stylist was Jennifer and I had asked for square layer cut. Jennifer did listen to what I needed on the front end but I noticed that my layers on the rare end are not visible and they are not how I wanted. I did mention that I didn't need very short layers but I needed distinct layers. She did great work with angels in front but I am not satisfied with the layers at the back end. read more

Plus the salon is great - massage chairs at the shampoo station, hand and arm massage and scalp massage included, and they give great advice when you're looking to make a change. I found my new stylist! RACHEL is awesome! I went to see her because of a haircut that I hated from a previously stylist (done elsewhere). I explained to her what I wanted and she listened! There's nothing better than a hair stylist that listens to what you want. It's been a fail finding a new stylist and now I found the one and I couldn't be happier!
