My extended family stayed in the Cowboys and Indians house (genuine Log Cabin walls!) It was VERY nicely decorated with rustic details. The grandchildren loved the Breakfast feast and the owners' turkeys and chickens that roamed the property. Started our cross Texas spring roadie staying the first night at Full Moon Inn. The owners called the day were to check in to confirm arrival time and I had a good impression straight away. The Full Moon Inn exceeded all expectations. I was traveling with my daughter and she needs privacy. Our cabin, original and on property since the 1850s was perfect with upstairs bedroom and downstairs bedroom with shared down bathroom. If you want the Texas settler feel about the time the Comanches still dominated the area, this is the perfect spot. We loved it. Bonus, this cabin is haunted and I did here the spirits in the middle of the night. Nope, it wasn't the tequila. Breakfast was family style and very good. Don't be late or your out of luck. Coffee service was great and started at 8:30am. They have a full bar and restaurant some nights. Music too, again some nights. Before we started our trip to big Bend on Tuesday morning, I went for a long walk up the country road in front of the property. Very nice walk along the creek road and very little traffic. Lastly, huge thanks to the owners for sending us my daughter's perfume she accidentally left in the room. She was pretty sad as it is one of her prized possessions when she discovered she left it behind when we were in Alpine TX, several hundreds miles away. The owners were nice enough to send it along. If you are looking for a quiet, quaint, cozy, peaceful getaway the Full Moon Inn is for you. It is fantastic for celebrating any occasion. The breakfast was farm fresh and delicious. There is also a 1776 bar on site with live music from 3 to 8. We loved going there every evening. Definitely bring your swimsuit for your stay because they have a beautiful big hot tube for you to relax in. Jenny and Doug are the most gracious hosts. There are very kind and right away we felt like family. We will definitely be back. I miss the place already! I have three words. W. O. W. Cannot believe such a B&B exists. I struggle to find anything to say that is less than excellent. The location. The attention. The warmth and acceptance. The sense of belonging. The couple that runs the place are the BEST. And the folk that go there, wow, they are repeat customers, and after one visit, I can understand why they come again and again, I will be doing so as well, as much as I can. We stayed on the historic cabin, with two floors, and it was beyond expectation. It was beautiful, authentic, well-maintained and appointed, and so inviting I did not want to leave. Yes, they do not have a restaurant, but the bar and environment (Fri/Sat only currently) are sooo inviting that you don't mind. Like I said before, the 'regulars' accept you as one of them with just a simple "Howdy", and prepare to spend the rest of night in there and wonder where the time went. Breakfast is included, and it is 5-star restaurant quality freshness and attention to detail. The nail on the coffin was the understanding that put into customer-relations. We called twice for items we had left behind, and both times they where understanding, not only FOUND the items we left behind but kept us posted on the status of them returning our items to us! Stayed here for 2 nights while visiting Fredericksburg and had a great time! My husband, 2 dogs, and one other friend all stayed together in their Grape Suite and were pretty pleased with our accommodations. Please keep in mind that Full Moon Inn is a B&B, not a five star hotel, so if you're looking for someplace homey, with no frills, and low key, then this is your place! The Grape Suite has 2 rooms- one bedroom which includes a king-sized bed and another room that includes a kitchen area (stove, fridge, and sink) and dining room table that seats 4 people. The Grape Suite accommodates up to 4 people (2 extra rollaway beds are provided) and the rollaway bed our friend slept on easily fit into the kitchen/dining room area. The king bed was extremely comfortable and there was both air conditioning and a fan available in both rooms which is much needed in the summertime. Both rooms have separate entrances, definitely convenient for privacy purposes (plus I had to get up early to take the dogs out and didn't want to wake our friend). The bathroom has a full tub/shower and walk in closet. Plenty of towels were provided for us and everything was kept clean and tidy upon our arrival. Note: there is no daily maid service so keep your place tidy and if you need any extra things (towels, soap, etc.) just let them know and they will provide it for you. The staff here is very friendly and approachable so don't be shy. What I really loved about our stay here was the large yard for my 2 dogs to run around in. It was definitely a change from their tiny, non existent yard in the city and my dogs loved running around everyday and chasing after the chickens. There are also 2 rocking chairs on the front porch that we were able to relax in and conveniently keep an eye on our dogs. Also, you will love their cute resident dog that wanders around the property all day- he is soo sweet and friendly and our pups loved him as well. Breakfast is served every morning at 9am and it was delicious! They serve a hearty American breakfast and it's goood!! During our stay we had eggs, sausage, bacon, pancakes, and watermelon. Sounds very simple but it was yummy!! Overall, I was pretty pleased with our stay here and would recommend it to those wanting a quiet, tranquil, quaint place to stay while in Fredericksburg. The location is amazing- the closest winery is less than 5 minutes away and downtown Fredericksburg is only about a 10 minute drive. read more

This was my second stay at a BnB so take what I write with a grain of salt. I specifically chose these accommodations because I was running my first half marathon and I chose it solely because it was closest to the race start from anything else and the reviews were good. Originally, I was going to arrive on my own, so I booked the smallest room. As the date neared, another person was going to stay with me so I asked about the possibility of switching rooms at least for a day (by this time most rooms were booked either Friday or Saturday or Saturday and Sunday. My stay was Friday and Saturday), but was told that this was not possible. This actually is completely understandable given that I believe it's only the owners that turn over the rooms, but the manner in which the owner responded, very matter of factly, as opposed to with some hospitality and warmth was off putting but like I said, understandable. I think I'm a reasonable person and I understood. The decor for me was a little old, not vintage, but old almost like walking into a old antique store. This really wasn't appealing to me, but again, no biggie given that I was there for the race and I liked the location. The thing that was disappointing was that I needed to carb load three hours before the race (which started at 8 am) based on the description I knew our room did not have a microwave so I asked about having maybe access to a microwave in the main hall but was told that the microwave was not available until the hall opened at 815, so ok, no big deal I'll just bring some cereal, OJ, and bananas etc since our room had a fridge. But then, I asked if my traveling partner could get breakfast for me or if breakfast could be set aside (since everyone was raving in the reviews about breakfast) and was told no, because I would run into the same problem of not being able to heat it up. But for the record I think I would have gladly eaten the cold breakfast, but the manner in which I was told left no desire to ask for anything more. Kim wasn't very overly warm to say the least. Didn't offer to allow me to use the microwave in the hall (y'all I would've been back by 11 am) But anyway, no biggie, there was plenty of food otherwise in the area and again, I was there mostly for the race. The following day I was able to enjoy breakfast and it was very good, but this was the main attraction at this BnB. Given this was my first half marathon, proximity to the venue was most important to me, but next year I will definitely pick something that better suits my needs. We met several couples who have stayed there and love it, but they all seem to be your typical Texan bikers, country, or wine-loving couples over 60, which is fine, but we were none of those, so I think this BnB May appeal to that demographic and to those mostly who are leisurely staying. All in all, if you're into a leisurely 'cozy' semi- antique decor out in the country and want to enjoy a country breakfast at 9 am sharp but with very few extra provisions, this is your place. If you need more flexibility and are perhaps more into more modern amenities, look somewhere else. I think BnB are charming, and my partner and I want to try more BnBs, but want something more romantic. I, personally, didn't get a romantic vibe from the decor or setting much- but to each it's own! Funny enough, during breakfast on Sunday, we were 'jokingly' told to leave a review if it was good, but to mot to if it was bad, I don't think I'm doing either. Full Moon Inn was off the beaten path and very relaxing. Billy Mac's bar, which is on the property, was a great place to get together with friends after hanging out with friends in town all day. Breakfast is at 9 sharp, and it's so tasty. The owners, Kim and Kemper, were helpful and friendly. Our log cabin only had one bathroom. It also had only one way in and out of the cabin, which meant we had to walk through another bedroom in order to get in or out of the building. This made our stay less private than we would have liked. However, the vibe of the place made up for it. It was a fun introduction to B&B travel. read more

First of all, any Inn or hotel that does not have a shower (and does not tell you this before you make reservations) is immediately 2 stars for me. To come back from this, the Full Moon is would have had to at least have an amazing breakfast, which it did not. Perhaps you could argue that a jacuzzi tub instead of a shower is romantic, but in that case there would need to be a separate room set up with candles etc. This B&B put the tub directly in front of the bed and next to the tiny television. There is just no easy way for a girl to wash her hair in a tub! I chose this B&B based on reviews, comfort and breakfast. I can't figure out how trip adviser, with its 37 reviews, has no mention of the lack of shower. The B&B makes a point of saying each room has its own bathroom, a flat screen tv and internet. I am not against not having tv or internet at a romantic B&B, however if it is advertised I certainly expect it. You cannot get internet (which is how my husband and I choose restaurants) unless you go outside on the porch in the heat and try and get a couple bars which constantly go in and out. There is a flat screen tv but it is tiny and far enough away from the bed that it is difficult to see. The breakfast was not exactly as described on the website and we both wished we had just gone out to eat. The food was a bit blah. The good things about this place is that it is very quiet, service is extremely friendly, the sheets on the bed are very soft, and it is very clean. read more

No globe on the light fixture in bedroom & the view outside was a dumpster one direction & public restrooms the other. Nothing quaint, luxurious or even period in the decor, pretty much like a motel six for WAY too much money. The owner was grumpy, bitter & even sat down at our breakfast table to complain about having a money emergency & his bank being closed on Saturday! Downright charming. The minute you walk into the full moon inn office a loving family greets you. Matt and jenny are kind, attentive hosts! Our family vacation was made easier with full moon inn, but I may be biased since we got to stay in the log cabin! Staying in the cabin was perfect for our family of four. The log cabin is the closest to the family's house (whether you think that's good or bad is preference-- we liked it) and is connected to the office but is totally separated and private. The cabin had an upstairs with with a bed and sofa (my bf slept on the sofa and was comfortable) and the downstairs also has a bed, sofa, and TV with LOTS of channels. There is one bathroom, which wasn't bad for sharing. Quaint details accent this cabin to make it feel more homey, including full moon inn soap, a small coffee area and fridge, antiques in the bedrooms and pictures lining the wall up the stairs. Breakfast is included and is great! Who doesn't love a warm, homemade breakfast consisting of matt's specialty "eggs luckenbach", pancakes/frech toast, sausage/bacon, and fresh watermelon? Making the 9am sharp breakfast call was no problem for our family. With Matt's knowledge of the town & surrounding areas, and our previous researching we were able to eat at some unique, local places. Thanks to full moon in for the suggestions and map! (Pasta Bella in Fredricksburg is delightful.) Staying in Luckenbach during July 4th weekend was lovely- being able to hear the Luckenbach celebration bands down the road as we got home was neat. Captain Matthew Carinhas has created an amazingly quiet, beautiful, relaxing and historical place to get away from the hustle and bustle of the big city. We've stayed in several of his seven rooms, and we loved each one. They are always spotlessly clean and comfortable. The grounds (about 12 acres) are gorgeous and meticulously maintained, right down to the manicured area by the creek complete with swimming holes. Matthew's love for animals is apparent, and some of the rooms at Full Moon are pet friendly. Butterball, the dog, and the many cats and chickens around the property and the few cows on a neighboring property make it feel even more like a country getaway. Matthew is a fabulous chef, and his breakfast meals are simply out of this world! Matthew's sweet twins, Rhett and Scarlet (four years old, I think) are sometimes seen scampering around the property, and they are adorable. I can't imagine how he runs a business full time and keeps up with them as well. Everyone in Fredericksburg knows Matthew, and his recommendations for restaurants and sightseeing adventures are spot on. We make the Full Moon Inn a definite destination at least once every year. Our German Shepherd and Yorkie LOVE to go, too. Don't miss this gem. Better food and service you will not find in Fredericksburg! It's one of our favorite destinations in Texas. One word of caution: photos and detailed descriptions of each room are available on his web site. Check them out before booking your room. One has a jacuzzi tub out in the open bedroom that also is the shower. Captain Matt was most gracious and made us feel right at home... as a couple of 60-somethings enjoying our retirement freedom to travel now, this is exactly the type of hospitality we would hope... some highlights: 1. Location: right near Luckenbach; although dance hall was closed during the week, mid-week visits allow you to sit under the trees, have a beer, and enjoy informally the "pickers" on their guitars... very relaxing; and, you are 15 minutes from the hustle and bustle of downtown Fredericksburg; and yet close to the wineries nearby. I told Matt the FMI was "centrally isolated". 2. Hospitality: Matt saw to our every need; Peach Room was quiet and immaculately clean; comfortable in a simple way; wifi worked perfectly; breakfast each day was excellent (we need to come back for Matt's promised banana pancakes)... Matt was also an excellent concierge, and was spot-on with his touring, dining and winery recommendations. 3. Ambience: if you want to go to Fredericksburg or wineries, it's all nearby (we did); another time, we just enjoyed sitting in rockers, enjoying a quiet evening and the Texas countryside... very pleasant. There is a bar on site with live music on Saturdays and it's around the corner from Luchenbach..We stayed in the Prohibition room this time and it was really cool. The bed wasn't the most comfortable but not bad at all.. The previous time we stayed in the Texas Romance which wasn't as cool bit was larger and the bed we liked better. We stayed in the 1800's Log Cabin, along with another couple. It was great - we could all stay together, yet with one room upstairs and another down, we could have a little privacy as well. It was such a cute cabin, loved the old-fashioned rockers on the front porch! Also loved that the owner took great pains to keep as much of the original lob cabin as he could (without sacrificing modern amenities, of course!) You can tell he's put a lot of heart and soul into the place. Matt (the owner) also turned us on to some great eats in the area; we had an excellent steak nearby at Freidhelm's at his recommendation...and the breakfast he cooked us the next morning - wow! Wonderful place for the entire family. The owners, Kim and Kemper are two of the nicest people you will ever meet. Loved all the personal touches about the stay. Moon pies when you check in...who wouldn't love that. The bed was so comfortable, haven't slept that good in years. The breakfast was absolutely scrumptious. French toast with a blackberry compote sauce, farm fresh eggs and the best German sausage that I have ever had. After living in San Antonio for over 14 years there is one thing you don't see here anymore...the stars in the sky. We layed on the stage that they have set up for weddings and were just in awe. One of the most relaxing weekends that we have had in a while. Oh, and Luckenbach Dance Hall is right up the road. Take your kids! They will have a blast. Things started off pretty good. Decent quarters, nice country side views, good breakfast. Our family was celebrating my fathers 75th Birthday and were having a private gathering in a covered picnic area on the grounds. The owner became enraged with an opinion on our pinata choice, at our celebration, and demanded that we vacate the property immediately. "Not on my land", he yelled. We had paid a fine penny to be on his land as he runs a B&B..... service industry... service.We weren't trashing the place, being rowdy, swearing, or any of the sort. A birthday celebration. Well this service was poor in the end. My father is a Vietnam Veteran and this happened on Veterans Day!!! read more

We stayed there for my girlfriends birthday, and we had a great time. Granted, we were out in Fredricksburg or the vineyards most of the time, but the room was great, the views were wonderful, and it was sooooooo quiet. Perfect for a romantic weekend get away. Every morning, Matt would have a home cooked breakfast waiting for us at 9am sharp, and it was a fine breakfast. Wow. That is all we kept repeating the entire weekend while staying at Full Moon Inn. Unfortunately, that was not a "Wow, this is great" -- that is a "Wow, you have got to be kidding me." It's hard to put one's finger on which element of our room stood out the most... We nicknamed the room the "Porn room" as there is a jacuzzi tub literally at the foot of the bed, complete with no curtain and surrounding mirrored walls. Perhaps it was the diminutive room size, or perhaps the small, cramped and poorly decorated room. More likely, it is all of the above, while still commanding nearly $200 a night to enjoy the overwhelming ambience of it all. The bottom line is that there is no excuse for a Bed and Breakfast to rent out rooms that are in such a state. I went back and reread the room info and looked at the pictures again and can now see some reference to the condition. Something I doubt you would catch when first reserving the room. Pictures that truly portray the room are certainly in order. We had a wonderful time in Fredericksburg, but it had everything to do with the time we spent away from our room at the Full Moon Inn. read more

This place has the worst customer service. We called and talked to one the owners (that's what he said anyway) I believe his name was Matthew. We inquired about reservations and cancelation policies and he became very hostile. I don't believe this person has any business "owning" anything that involves guests or customers. We'd give zero stars but 1 is the minimum unfortunately. I don't know where they get the idea they can speak to potential customers that way if he expects to have any business whatsoever....Awful.. Update!!!!!What's sad it Matthew keeps commenting that unsatisfied customers are "being mean" for simply informing future guests that he is in fact very rude and unfriendly. I'm sorry that his customer service skills are poor. But this is a review site. If he doesn't like reports of poor service on his part, he should not be rude to customers. He is hostile and lies. It's obvious if you read all of the comments Matthew makes on every bad review he gets on this site, that he seems to believe he's never at fault. With that attitude he will continue to receive bad reviews. What a shame. read more

Great place to stay for visits to Luckenbach, wineries, and checking out Fredericksburg/Hye/Stonewall/Johnson City. We stayed in The Prohibition room. Very reasonable and plenty of room. Kemper and Kim are excellent hosts and the breakfast was very good. We'll be back. read more
