Before work began, Jose responded promptly to my requests for changes in design, gave detailed drawings &estimates PRICE - it was a very fair price, and lower than the other bid I got for a simple rectangular design DESIGN - my requirements were a bigger patio that covers up the swamp. Jose came up with a plan that has curves to fit in well with the curves in my existing landscape, plus the swamp is gone! He gave me advice on which sizes of pavers would work well in the design. PROFESSIONALISM - every day the team was on time and left the area cleaned up. They laid and re-laid pavers until they were satisfied with the look. They spent a lot of time leveling and fixing places where water pooled on my lawn/old patio. They improved the downspout drains and crawlspace vents. After 2 years living in our Issaquah rambler, we were tired of our grubby back yard. With a very…read moresloping hillside slumping into it, the constant roll of rocks, and puddling of runoff made the space not very enjoyable. Our small deck, and a big dirt patch was also not a clean or functional space for us or our dog - so it was time for a change. Once we set our minds to investing in a renovation, I met with 7 (yes 7!) concrete, rockery, and paver providers to discuss the projected heat their ideas, and solicit quotes. A number of the providers were visionless, one was rude, and another was wildly expensive (twice as much as any of the others). Enter Jose and J Zamora Construction. While my initial vision for the space was admittedly to have a concrete patio, with a paver retaining wall - after meeting with Jose, my mind changed. In the most genuine and non-pressuring tone possible, he educated me about the benefits of using pavers (repairability, less cracking risk, better drainage, etc). That, combined with both his understanding of the challenges of my property, as well as his unique lense on a design for our space - made Jose a stand out. I also greatly appreciated that when I expressed specific wishes, he did not take offense when those ideas didn't align with his initial recommendation. When some providers acted put-off when I said "I don't want to take out this tree" (etc.), Jose took it in stride and offered solutions rather than trying to convince me that my preference was unreasonable. After viewing our property, he was prompt, kind, and fair in his quote to us. His documentation was thorough and clear. That, along with his truly aesthetically, and functionally minded vision for our space convinced me to completely pivot from "I'm doing concrete", to "let's go with pavers". After hiring Jose, he recommended products that suited our combined vision for my yard, was transparent about potential overages, and ultimately executed a project that is beyond my dreams for our difficult space. His crew of 6 busted their behinds for 4 solid days to crack it out. They were prompt, respectful of my property and neighbors; and thorough in their daily, and end of project cleanup. They even went above and beyond to carefully re-lay our dog's invisible fence line, which was displaced in the underground drainage portion of our project. Ultimately, we're left with the addition of nearly 1000 square feet to our livable space. An area that started as a grubby dirt patch has become a clean and stunning use of space. It flows with the natural landscape, and looks cohesive with our very mid century home. We have had neighbors (known to us and new introductions) stop by with their jaws on the floor - one even saying "you've made this yard the showpiece of the mountain". Once we paint the house - our sweet little rambler will be perfection - and we have Jose to thank for so much of our exterior transformation. We've been really impressed by this process. The construction crews are highly professional. They are thoughtful and careful with neighbors when dealing with moving equipment in and out, noise, and those kinds of things. They are great communicators and set really good expectations about project length and other details. When we asked for tweaks or changes midstream there was never any grousing or grumbling - they were very focused on making sure we were 100% happy. The guys are our crew were Colin, Max and Michael, and Patrick was the Construction Manager. In both cases, the finished projects were even more stunning than we expected. Top notch.

It was on the high end compared to other bids, but his communication and experience led us to go with him. And good thing we did. The resulting project is beautiful. We got large granite rocks, river rock, and a liner underneath all for $4K. Much of that was material cost. The labor they put in was 2.5 days. They told me that the market has changed and they need their customers to do some research. Then they gave me an arbutrary deadline to join a COMPLIMENTARY 10min call. The number of red flags in 1 message exchange. First of all, if you are in the field don't respond to the message or hire someone who can do it without getting upset that their customer do not know what they need.

No one except Will was willing to come by and offer advice. Will thoroughly showed me where the system needed updating and repairs for the 1.25 acres it was supposed to water. Later that year, Will personally installed updated Rain Bird stations (suggested I buy at Amazon to save money) while his crew completed the necessary repairs. I wanted his company to do the project because of Will. Will is a person of integrity, honesty, and someone who you can trust to stand by his work. Since then, Will's staff has completed additions to other areas for watering, essentially relieving us from manual watering. Last year, I asked Will to add a few large rocks to the front yard. Will instead offered an idea of how to completely reimagine the front yard areas. After a few meetings with Will and Sandy, we came up with a blueprint which included a waterfall, moving 3 existing Japanese maples, creating a long walking path with steps, low intensity lighting. And most importantly, dotting the areas with varying species of pine trees and plants. Sandy was very informative in helping us select plants to complement our new landscape areas while blending themes for areas we wanted to keep from earlier landscaping projects. Will and Sandy also created plateaus, mounds and other uneven areas to create a more natural look. The project was completed as proposed. No cost overruns, no unanticipated additions, no delays. Will's staff diligently transformed our front yard to our shared vision. We have been asked by neighbors and strangers to share who completed the project. Many, many compliments have been given for the project. We of course, can't recommend Will and his entire team highly enough. Will and his team are extremely professional, skilled and capable of offering a unique and "creative" vision for your landscape needs.
