I would not recommend this company. First off, they overcharge and are much higher than the going cost. It took less than 20 minutes to obtain a sample from an unfurnished 697 sq ft condo. The sample was from the attic, which had a large door to access, and was wide open. The sample area was directly above the attic door. The charge for this 20 minutes, $550. Then there was an additional lab fee of $85. When I complained about the price, in all fairness, they did discount the bill $50. I told them we had a 2 1/2 hr home inspection that was only $450. I will also say the report (from the lab) was very thorough. Secondly, we were told we would get the report in 2 days. Well 2 days was really 7 days. I called and spoke to Carly on the second day and was told the specimen was at the lab and I could expect a report the following day. That did not happen. When they did answer their phone & I explained the situation they insisted to know name of first CO hired? I told them yet why should that matter? I was then informed that HE would HAVE to see the other CO's results first. WHAT? No, I wanted a 2nd test done b4 the other person in the home got their results back. IF LEGIT WHY would one CO care or even want to know what another CO's results were? None of these CO' have a state license nor are they regulated or monitored. My wife and I moved into our new home when we found that we had baseboards that were very soft to the touch and bathroom doorframes with swollen bases. We started to get paranoid thinking that these are signs of undisclosed water damage. We started investigating further then hings got real when my wife found a black sport behind the master bath toilet. Is this mold in our new home? How large is this problem? The soft baseboard were in all different parts of our home so we thought this could be a HUGE problem... we needed professional advice. After contacting various flood and mold remediation companies, CBC restoration, suggested I get in touch with Robert at FunGuy to perform an inspection to learn what we're really dealing with. I made an appointment with Robert to come the next day for inspection and air quality test. He arrived on time, I restated our concerns and led him to show him the problem areas. When we got to the swollen doorframe base he asked if the previous owner had a small dog. They had three... This is where he stated that the damage is due to the dogs repeatedly relieving themselves in their favorite doorframe or baseboard. He also looked at the black spot and checked the moisture level in the drywalls under the baseboard and concluded it is very minor. He continued with thorough inspection of the home and concluded the house did not experience any major water damage. What a relief! Very gross about the dogs but what a relief! ... and yes we are getting new floors and trim! Moreover, Robert suggested we didn't need an air quality test saving us money. He called a week after the inspection making sure we are doing well and didnt have any questions which was very nice. His experience and expertise is evident. Simply put, Robert and Fun Guy are the best. Not just as an inspection company, but as a customer service and scientific consulting company that have the best customer service, bar none. I'm a mechanical engineer and my wife is a research molecular biologist, so we'd typically be pretty informed customers in this segment. We asked tons of questions and Robert had straight-up, plain english answers that showed that he knew what he was talking about. We were considering a possibly dodgy former toxic mold house, and Robert spent the time required to give phone consultations and review sellers mold testing reports so that we felt comfortable with what he was telling us.
