So let me start off by saying I was total skeptical about dropping my son (yes, I call my dog son!!) off here. I was so scared so so scared. The reviews are not good on Yelp. You also can't get to there website from the Yelp app I also want to make it very clear that I only dropped off my son for a 8 hours no overnight stay. I brought my own food and water after reading the other Yelper's review. So I called at 8am sharp and a lady picked up sounded very nice. She was confused about the price for pet seating my son for a few hours. So I called a few other places but no luck. I called this place back and the same lady told me that it would cost $15. 11am to 5:30pm. I had not other choose I caved in hoping and praying for a good stay. I was not disappointed. I went full investigation on this place pulling up. It seems as the owner lives on site in a nice house and large space. I did ask a million questions and had to see exactly where my son would stay. So I went to the cage and made sure it was clean and it was. I went over precisely everything I wanted my dog to do and more importantly what not to do with my son. No doggie hangs out, no taking him out of the cage, no playing with other dog. For his total safety just keep my dog in his cage and let him chill. The spaces they put the dogs in are nice they are somewhat large. The spaces or both indoor and outdoor. So if you looking at my pictures I put up that back "door" allows the dogs to go out side. The outside is part of there cage and is covered with a roof. The sides are just a chainlinked fence. (Wish I got a pic of this) When I picked up my son he was happy to see me. The lady said he didn't eat so that was odd. She also said he drank H20 so that made me feel odd knowing my dog I know he drinks and eats and never one without the other. I also checked him out before leaving. I literally checked him like a vet would do. Took my own brush and flashlight to look at his mouth and body. I did a complete head, body, paws, tail and teeth check. After getting in the car I could see he was hungry so I pulled Of and feed him and he immediately ate and had water. read more

I can't say enough about Fun Play Bark Lodge. The staff is welcoming, attentive and loving; they know each dog by name and demonstrate so much love and care towards them. I wouldn't trust any other dog lodge as much as I trust the staff at FPB lodge. Thank you for all you do ! read more

We've been going to fun play park for about three years now. We have a three-year-old Rottie and a 12 year old lab mix. We've had nothing but excellent treatment and they are always accommodating. The staff is professional and friendly. So are the owners. We've gotten into some situations where we needed to board our dogs without prior notification and we were still able to come and drop our dogs off. read more

I recently moved to the area and tried Tippin Rock Pet Lodge since it was one of the few facilities in the area which had reasonable Sunday hours. First problem was they did not have my reservation scheduled. I was even told by the girl who checked me in that it happens quite frequently. I came to pick up my dog after a weekend away and, upon entering the lobby, was overwhelmed by cat/dog odor. I understand odor is expected in these types of facilities, but as an avid traveler who has had to utilize multiple boarding kennels, this was by far the most unsanitary. The cats are left to roam around the lobby where I also observed clumps of hair and a pile of cat poop literally in the middle of the room. This place obviously isn't cleaned regularly. Once my dog was returned to me and we exited the building she immediately began limping and didn't want to walk on one of her paws. Upon further examination, she had a very inflamed paw which she was constantly licking, amplifying the sore/tenderness (picture has been added to the business listing page). I immediately requested to speak with a manager and thankfully was put in contact within the same day. I asked what had happened and was told they have gravel outside and its common for dogs to get a little pebble in their paw and become irritated. Again, I understand accidents happen but for them not to pay enough attention to (1) notice my dog is limping (2) notice she was excessively licking her paw to the point where it became raw shows me this facility just takes dogs in and pushes them out to make their money. I am disappointed this facility did not take the time to notice there was an issue with my dog. I do not expect constant supervision, however, a kennel facility should be making scheduled rounds to observe each dog being cared for to observe any issues that occur during a pet's visit. Due to this one weekend experience, I will not be returning nor do I recommend this place to anyone. read more

They took over the old Tippin Rock establishment and some of the lodging practices have changed. For instance even though you can pick up your dog before 11am, if you pick them up after 10am you are charged late check out. That was not the practice at Tippin Rock. It's taking us longer than we hoped to adjust to the changes. If another lodging establishment opened nearby we would check them out. It's unfortunate because we've been going to the location on Gungywamp since 2007. The family feel that Jim and Pat cultivated at Tippin Rock has not transitioned to the Fun Play Bark Lodge location. I definitely recommend Fun Play Bark for grooming. Alli is an excellent groomer. read more

My dog, Skye, had been going to Tippin Rock for about a year until we had to move. She was there for daycare about twice a week and occasional boarding. The staff is AMAZING with the dogs! They care about every single dog there as if they were their own. They're so friendly and nice. Every time Skye went to daycare she would come home exhausted (which is almost impossible to achieve with a springer). I can't say enough great things about Tippin Rock. Skye and I definitely miss being able to bring her here for daycare. read more

I foster dogs for a pet rescue, so I have brought dogs to doggy daycares all over the state. Tippin Rock is mediocre at best. On the plus side, the employees are friendly and they were willing to take my dog when she was initially growly with others. However, the lobby usually smells strongly of cat pee, and the employees often seem confused. The most damning thing, unfortunately, was that my dog came out consistently hyperactive and suspiciously clean. I believe (but can't prove) that they kept her separated, and we were basically paying top rates for her to be locked in a room by herself all day. I brought her to Norwichtown Pet Resort and she had no issues with growliness, and came out exhausted and smelling of dogs (as she should!). I won't go back to Tippin Rock unless absolutely necessary--it's not terrible or dangerous, but it's a waste of money. read more

We boarded our two dogs here for a long weekend when we went on vacation. This was our first time going here and noticed that the play yard was all gravel and dirt. Kennels were pretty clean and large enough with an outside area for them to go out in. There were no platforms for the dogs to sit on inside the kennel or outside. We brought our own blankets and food. We also noticed that the cats were allowed to roam free which we did not appreciate because our dogs do not get along with them. They were very anxious in the foyer when seeing them. When I told the owner that our dog did not like cats he just laughed it off and did not remove the cat. Also when we made the reservation via phone, for a larger unit so they could board together, they said yes. However, when we got there they said they would not have that unit until the following day because it was full. This was not told to me on the phone. When we picked our dogs up they seemed very anxious and barking which they don't normally do after boarding.They were filthy with dirt all over from the dusty play yard so we went to pet valu and washed them. This is when I noticed my dog licking his leg and limping. He had a bite mark on his front, left leg. I was very upset because I asked the owner if everything was OK with their first day there and he said they were great and no issues. There was missing fur and the wound was oozing pus. Our dogs board at different kennels and are very social. They never have issues with dogs so something is definitely going on here that's making other dogs upset and they are not supervised enough. We will not be returning due to the injury and the owners dishonesty. read more

My fur-baby stayed at Tippin Rock from Mar 4 - Mar 6, 2016. Upon my arrival, I was thankful for the friendly lady and gentleman who greeted my anxious baby with gentle encouragement and love. I explained that he was generally pretty timid around other dogs. So, we discussed leaving my nervous nelly up front with an older dog, until he became acclimated to the environment. I left feeling confident he'd be well cared for. Throughout his stay, I called to check in. I assured he'd been giving kisses to the staff and was playing well with a few of the smaller dogs. When I arrived to pick him up, I asked the young girl at the counter a few questions: Me: "Did you throw the ball around for him at all?" Her: "Oh, we could have....but we didn't know he liked that." Me: "Has he eaten today?" Her: "Yes, we broke up a few treats for him." Me (confused): Did he run out of food?? Her: No, there is plenty of food left, but all the treats are gone. I have no doubt that the staff genuinely like dogs. But, I think Tippin Rock could benefit from some sort of registration form where clients could better explain their preferences. Now that I'm aware I need to be super specific (throw the damn ball, treats are not a substitute for meals), I may take my pup back for day time care, but I don't think I'd leave him overnight again. read more

***Warning!!! Our Dog Was Attacked/Traumatized Here*** We left our Black Lab at Tippin Rock a few weeks ago for just two nights while we went out of town for the weekend. When we brought him back home he was clearly traumatized by the experience, filthy, scratching and itching all over, had dierreha for 8 straight days and worst of all had two large deep puncture wounds on the side of his face as if another dog had attacked him and bitten him. His affordable $60 stay resulted in hundreds of dollars in vet bills, medicines and nearly three weeks of recovery. I would be very careful about ever taking your pet here. read more

I am military and have seen many day cares for animals and this place is the best I have seen. The owner Jim is definitely hands on. He treats the animals like family and was very accommodating. I have six kids and he let them check out the cat area where our kitty was staying. While I was there a lady brought her dog in and her dog was so excited to see Jim. The lady smiled at me and said that her dog likes it better here than at home. I laughed and said my kids probably would say that too. read more

I will say first, that my dogs LOVE it at Tippin Rock. They pull to get through the door! And when I pick them up, they smell clean - not like when I have picked them up from other kennels. With that said, I have had *several* experiences of the staff being very rude (to me). In addition, Tippin Rock regularly raises their rates. They are much more expensive than any other kennel in our area, and services that used to be free of charge (i.e. pool time, baths before check-out, medications) - they now charge extra for. In summary, if your pets are your absolute first priority, and you are willing to pay a premium rate AND put up with lousy customer service, than this is your place. read more

NEVER AGAIN-- AVOID! I was looking for a kennel to board my dog (Vizsla breed) while spending the night at Mohegan Sun Casino. They did not offer to show the facilities, but in a bit if a rush I didn't think much nor did I ask many questions (after all a kennel is a kennel- so I thought). I picked my dog up the next morning & they took payment. As I walked out I noticed he had been bitten on his side ( the hair was off & skin broken). I asked the employee to come out to my car & look and she told me my dog was playing with other dogs the prior afternoon- did not apologize or even acknowledge responsibility. We left outraged and subsequently noticed 3 more bites. DISGRACE!!!!! read more

I usually don't make reviews for places, but after being recommended to them and seeing the yelp reviews I figured I would add my thoughts. Dropping off my two male mutts I was obviously a worried dog mom because they are my life and I had saw the reviews, but the staff was super friendly and the owner was really caring and even sat on the floor with my nervous pups. I was reassured they would be taken care of and would perk up over time. I asked to have my dogs play with other dogs eventhough I had seen the reviews, but it's just like kids in school and incidents do happen: that's life. I had just picked them up after a 5 day stay and was so pleased how happy my boys looked and relaxed they were compared to coming in. They even turned back to lick one of the workers like they had bonded over their stay. As for the previously posted pictures of the facility, the place looked nothing like them...I asked if I could take pictures to update here and I was told it was okay. Overall, happy boys=a happy momma and I will definitely be using their services again. read more

Tippin Rock has been fabulous. I started bring Rocky, an overweight chocolate lab for Doggy Daycare 2 X a week during the winter to help loose weight and he absolutely loves it. Now I never make the mistake of saying the name cause he knows it and will constantly follow me around until I take him. I will say he has come home with a scratch, but they are dogs and playing can get rough. Tippin Rock doesn't require any monthly commitment for daycare,. I really like the flexibility of taking him if i need to or not. The staff is always very friendly when i'm there and are genuinely excited to see Rocky as is he to see them. I also enjoy seeing the Facebook photos and videos that are taken during the day. read more
