My sweet senior during one of his emergency care visits
    Lydia P.

Dr. Ross and her entire staff are some of the most compassionate people I have ever met! They take the utmost care of my 6 "kids" and I never have to worry when they're in their hands. They always make time to squeeze in any of my pets that need an emergency visit & take the time to love on them when they're there for routine visits. Veterinarians as a whole are entirely swamped due to the ratio of pets vs. vet med employees (I'm a groomer - we're going through the same thing! Too many animals, not enough people to work!!!) the fact that they always find a way to make sure my pets are taken care of blows my mind. This team is hands down the best there is, and I would never trust anyone else with the care of my babies!!!

I did write them a 5 star review a few years back but after today they get a new 1 star review. I called for an emergency appointment for my 13 year old girl. I believed she had a UTI. They put me in for an emergency appointment which is extra money but that's fine. No time during the call to schedule the appointment did the receptionist tell me that my dog needed rabies vaccine to be treated... I take my dog, wait outside since the waiting room is still closed. We get brought into the exam room which was dirty and smelled of urine. Dog is taken into the back to collect urine. They couldn't get any. Still no mention of the dog being passed due for her vaccine. Vet exams her. Says she's in great shape but they need a urine sample. 2 choices, leave her there so they can attempt to collect but he can't guarantee they'll catch her having to go or 2 take her home and I collect urine myself and bring sample back. Still no mention of the vaccine. We finish and I'm waiting to pat, that is when they mention that she needs to get vaccinated or else I can not receive her antibiotics and the urine collection kit. I ask if I can get an exemption, just a big fat nope on that unless she has a medical condition. She's 13 and even though she's in good shape she has fatty lumps all over her body, one is quite large. I against by better judgment broke down after 15 mins and got the vaccine. While waiting to pay I asked for the collection kit because ny dog needed to go. I collect specimen, come back in and ask lady at the counter how do I put the urine in the vial? She didn't acknowledge me, instead turns around and walks away. I will not be returning to this vet. I'm going back to All Friends in Norwich where I will be taken seriously about my concern about vaccinating my dog while she is sick. I'm including a photo of the dirty exam room.

After going to a different Veterinary hospital that mishandled my previous cat's heart emergency, I found GCV when I was ready to one again adopt. I will never go to another Vet. Dr. Ross saved my Gracie's life when she went into unexpected renal failure. That was two years ago and Gracie is in perfect health now. Currently, they are helping me figure out what is wrong with my other cat Sarabi. Office staff is great as are all of the vet techs. I've used Dr. Banning when Dr. Ross wasn't available and she is also a wonderful vet. I recommend them highly!

The vet quoted us 120 to get our cat fixed. After her surgery they handed us a bill for $485, with a long list of charges.

I was incorrectly told my dog hadn't been seen in over a year so they could justify charging me for an exam just to get her routine yearly allergy shot. It feels very dishonest and pushy. I would not recommend this animal hospital. Find a vet that actually cares about your pet--not just your wallet. It is exactly why we switched!

You know that saying " I wouldn't bring my DOG, there"? Don't. While they are perfectly happy to try to up charge anything to 'make your pet comfortable', they insist on countless tests, meds, and office visits. The more you balk at all the extraordinary and ridiculous coaxing, the more they explain how 'if you really cared about your pet.....'. I am absolutely disgusted by their latest act. We had to euthanize our rescue dog, whom we got from a meth addict, and who had lived in a car for YEARS. No one knew his age, clearly he had been abused, and clearly had been hit by a car months before we took him. After already spending close to $2,700.00 JUST to make him comfortable, we had him for 5 years. During which time he saw another vet the last two years. When I tearily called to let them know that he was no longer happy, and was clearly in pain, they told me that he would have to 1. Be seen by the vet. 2. Have testing to verify that he should be put down, and 3. That THEY would make the decision. Not us, with whom he'd lived. Oh no! The VET would determine his fate. The next evening, we had a vet to the house, and had him KINDLY and HUMANELY sent up to see his brothers in doggy heaven. Just stay away from these MONSTERS. And, by the way? The reason he wasn't brought back to 4 paws, was because of a snide, nasty, and rude comment from one of the office staff. I hope she never has to feel the panic, pain, disgust, heart ache, and fury we felt.

Dr. Beal has been there for us through everything, from routine new puppy visits to managing our geriatric dog's health, and on more than one occasion she has quite literally saved our dogs' lives (I cannot make up these stories!). In emergent situations, the clinic management team has always gone above and beyond to get us scheduled quickly, make recommendations on when to seek emergency care at OSVS or Pieper, and ensure our pets receive the care they need. The entire team at NEVCC deserves recognition as well. From the technicians to the front desk staff, everyone is kind, attentive, and genuinely invested in the wellbeing of both the animals and their owners. One thing that always stands out is something Dr. Beal often says: "What would I do if this were my pet?" She genuinely lives by that philosophy. Every patient is treated with the same care, thoughtfulness, and advocacy that she would give her own animals. In fact, Dr. Beal is the person who inspired me to pursue veterinary medicine myself. As a current student at the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine, I've been exposed to gold-standard medicine, numerous clinicians, and many veterinary hospitals. Through that experience, I can confidently say that Dr. Beal practices exceptional, up-to-date medicine and truly prioritizes her patients' well-being. There is no one I trust more with the care of my animals and Dr. Beal will always be their primary clinician. If you're looking for a veterinarian who is compassionate, knowledgeable, and deeply committed to her patients, Dr. Beal and the NEVCC team are simply the best.
