We had a party of 6 we order the two seater and when we got there they said it was broken .. when we was finished they guy tryed to tell me when Bent the handle bars but he wouldn't tell the owner if we gave him 50 dollars which sounds like he wanted to scam us because he still wrote no damage on the paperwork I suggest you don't go here they will try to rob you of your money read more

A little bait and switch... the reservation we made for a 2 seater ATV depicted a Yamaha Rhino 660, but when we got there they didn't have those. Instead we were presented with a beat up 2 seater tandem quad and a Polaris RZR 170, which is meant for kids. We went with the Polaris, but it had far less capability than a Rhino 660 would have had. I'll be looking for another rental place next time, but I'm guessing these guys have a captive audience adjoining Jawbone canyon like they do. read more

Fun time is a great name for this place when their equipment works. We rented a Rhino 4x4 and off the bat, it was great fun. Enough power to haul 2 big guys, the basics for camping a night and thankfully some simple tools just in case we got in a bind. Sure enough, that happened. Fun until about 4 the first day, then the machine would start losing power, sputter for a while and eventually just stall completely. I encourage you all to take 1 minute and read Gevork M's review below as he was my friend on this trip and if it wasn't for his mechanical knowledge, we would have been in a real bad situation. From that point on, this machine was just a nuisance, continuing to do the same thing over and over again. Our immediate response was to try to call Fun Time and tell them about what was happening but obviously, no one had any cell service. We set up camp early as we were tired of moving 50 feet every minute before it would sputter and shut off again. The next day was the absolute longest day/ride trying to get this thing back to Fun Time. When we finally got back, Marcos there, who was a nice guy throughout all this said that the oil level may be low and that's why it would constantly turn off. He added oil and the same thing would happen again. I told him that I wanted a full refund for all the wasted time and ruined trip this machine caused and he handed me a phone to speak with Mark. Mark agreed to refund me for the second day, but absolutely nothing for the first day. He said we should have called as soon as it started, and when I told him we had no service anywhere, that made no difference to him. In his mind his machine worked from when I got it to when he assumed was the end of a day, 4pm. Not even thinking about how absolutely annoyed and unsatisfied we were with his product that ruined our trip. Final thoughts. I was also told that a couple rented a machine from them, it broke down and had to walk 10 miles before Marcos realized they should have been back and decided to go out and search for them. Such poor maintenance on their vehicles IS a real safety concern when you rent from this company. Oh and the best part, I still haven't seen a refund on my Credit card yet. They will be getting a call from me VERY soon. read more

We took the 6 hour option and rented 2 250cc ATVs. The guys working there were awesome. Attentive, knowledgeable, and on their game. They quickly got the ATVs ready, recommended and provided great gear, spent time training, and addressed questions at the start and break points. The ATVs were great. Solid running and fast. Can't say enough about Jawbone Canyon or the desert pass we rode. It was outstanding! Easy riding or really hard depending on what you wanted. Some over the top challenging ridges that most may want to avoid unless you are really experienced. I may take the wife and kids back here some day and rent the 1000 4 seater, that looked like a blast. 5 stars for us and totally worth it! read more

It came as a big deception. Two years after a first trial, ATVs and bikes are still in the same poor condition. I showed up short of a guest in a group of 6 which Mark fully charged nevertheless. The cc machine refuses all non-us credit card and I was advised to rush to the 1/2 hour distant city to get cash! Poor customer service. They have a great location. Why such a poor service! I would definitely advise to avoid!! read more

Thank you Matt and Griz for a super-fun afternoon. We had a blast riding ATV's on your seemingly endless trail options. The views were incredible and the trails ranged from beginner to expert. As an additional note, be sure to secure your cell phone. I made the mistake of leaving mine in my back pocket and it fell out at some point on the ride. Spent the day at Fun Time ATV on a 6 hour run. Was fun as could be and spent hours just exploring the area. Great for beginners and more advanced riders. Matt was chill and provided great customer service even remembering your name every time you came to refill or when you were packing it in. Website is also simple to use and intuitive. Rented from this place twice, and will not be coming back. ROUND ONE: Made a reservation 3 weeks in advance and called to confirm our reservation 5 days before hand. The owner confirmed our reservation for two 230cc dirt bikes. Upon arriving to the store we were told that they did not have the bikes I reserved, and had to substitute one of them for a less powerful bike. At this point we were irritated, but accepted the smaller bike any way. Turns out that bike couldn't even shift into 1st gear. When we brought it back they said there was nothing they could do. We asked to be upgraded to an ATV, and they said they wouldn't do that, since an ATV is a more expensive rental (customer service 101 failure). After we rode back off one of the guys yelled "don't burn out my clutch," you know, rather than apologizing for the faulty rental. We asked mark for a discount after, which he refused. ROUND TWO: A year later I reserve 2 bikes over 2 weeks in advance. Because their reservation form/procedure is so atrocious, I called before I even submitted the form to ensure the 2 bikes were WORKING and available for rental. After the owner confirmed they were, I submitted the reservation form. I then called a few days later to ensure it was received and everything was set. He said he didn't remember, but to email him so he could check later. I did so and never got a confirmation back. I then call 4 days before our group is set to leave to make sure we have the bikes. The owner says he has to check, and will get back to me same day. 2 days go by and nothing, so I call back and he says "oh yeah, we have them but we actually only have one of the 230 cc bikes, and the other is going to have to be a 150cc." For those of you who don't know much about engine displacement, a 150cc dirt bike is a kids dirt bike that is not meant to carry a grown man. I told him I was unhappy with this since I had tried to confirm multiple times, and we are now a day away from leaving (where many in our group took time off from work) and we don't have adequate gear. I asked for a discount since we were getting a kids bike, and he kept refusing, until finally he said he would give us a discount, but then would not include gas for the two-day rental.....I'm not sure he really understands what a discount is. He, however, had no problem charging my card the full amount the day I submitted the reservation. Luckily I found anther place in LA that rents bikes which can be hauled out. Never going back to Fun Time ATV. read more

My buddy and I came here in July and had a great time! Mark and his staff were very helpful and friendly. Don't let the location fool you, Jawbone Canyon is very beautiful and the riding is not that difficulty. My buddy and I were slow at riding at first, but once we got going we were able to zoom on the dirt trails with ease. Will definitely come here again... Check out my buddy's pictures below. We rented four quads and a Razor for our first trip into Jawbone and had a great time. The toys worked really well and there was a good assortment of equipment to outfit everyone with safety gear. Their equipment was in good shape and the instruction for new riders was perfect. Everything we needed to know to have a fun day was covered. The staff was professional and made sure we knew how to properly use everything. The area is fantastic to ride and winter time was really good for temperature and not to crowded. Would recommend renting again. The food next door was also good and nice to come back for lunch have hot food. read more

Was out riding Jawbone when I lost a bolt on my dirt bike plastics. Rolled up to the rental shop and asked if they had any bolts I could buy. They let me have the bolts I needed and I was on my way. Very friendly & easy going. read more

This place gets one star because the canyon is a cool place to ride. Other than that I was disappointed. I've rented power equipment from many places over the years all over the western US and this place earns worst place. We rented dirt bikes and they were all old and beat up. I was stuck in the desert for at least three times where the bike wouldn't start for at least 10 minutes. Luckily I was able eventually getting going but I was very close to being stuck. My friends rental ATV did the same thing, but we were stuck for 20 minutes that time. Next, the clutch handle fell off while I was riding. Probably from being old and worn, but this place charged me $35 for it! (Normally a $10 part) I guess their strategy is not to take care of their bikes until they break on their customers and charge them for it. I also needed the gear, which they said they had everything. Minus the helmet, all the gear was dirty, crusty, broken, and mismatched. I had to use the wrong size boot just to get something close, and even that had two buckles missing! Do yourself a favor and save yourself a headache, avoid getting marooned in the desert, and not waste your time and money with this place. read more

Read the fine print. I rented a quad for two days. Returned it the same day because I wasn't happy with it. I still was charged for two full days. I had options to rent other quads but upon return was not informed of that option. Basically I paid for a day that I did not ride. I don't write reviews until I really strongly want to convince people not to waste their time. I have been riding some form of dirt bikes or ATVs for many years. I do all of my own maintenance and understand the machines well enough. The problems with Fun Time started with how long it took us to get on the 250 ATV and Rhino 660. Fair enough, there is some process that needs to be completed (paperwork etc), I'm sure the people could move a little faster though. NOW, the big problem, all of their gear and atv's are basically crap. As other reviewers have mentioned, they do not do any real maintenance on their machines. As long as it starts, they call it good. From the completely worn out condition of their safety gear to the beat up condition of their ATV's, it's just terrible. And, they do break down. The Rhino 660 broke down for the entire two days we had it. We had planned to go deep into the hills and camp at night and have some more fun the next day and return to the store. Most of the first day the Rhino was super slow, we all just thought this is how slow they are. Then it started sputtering and not working at all. I took a look at it and saw that the air filter was completely clogged with mud. This made sense because the rhino was covered in mud when we took it. Fine, we cleaned it and took off, still it was slow and just a few minutes later again it was sputtering. Then, we took a look at the fuel filter, sure enough, it was also full of mud. We backwashed it and it cleared up a bit. Then, finally for the first time all day, the rhino started working well. For the rest of the day (about 1 hour, and we were forced to chose a random place to camp since we made NO progress all day) it ran well and went fast and was actually fun! Come next morning, it was again low on power. Cleaning the fuel and air filter again did not help. For the rest of the day all we could do was sputter along back towards Fun Times store. This time it was worst, it stopped all the time and so on. Basically, an absolutely ridiculous situation to be in. Finally, we make it close enough to the store and it wouldn't go anymore. The guy working there comes by and checks the oil, it's low, says that's why it's not working. Sounded like a load of crap to me and it was, he filled it and still the machine didn't run. Then we said well, we want a refund, and here is where things just got worse. To make it short, we were on the phone with the owner (he wasn't there in person of course) for some time. Basically he was saying that we should have called him yesterday when it started sputtering (ignoring the fact that it was not working properly all day anyway). We told him there was no cellphone service anywhere around our location(s), again he ignored this fact. He said since it 'worked' the first day, he would refund half of the fee. Ridiculous, I'm sure his greedy self understands that his crappy equipment and ill managed company wasted the time of 4 people who had paid good money to enjoy their weekend. Not to mention that this is a major safety concern! Stranding your customers in the high desert, good one. If you want to go riding ATV's, you should, it's amazing, but please look around for ANY other option to rent other than this place. What the owner is doing is putting all the money into his pocket and ignoring the simplest of maintenance requirements. He does NOT value your time or safety. read more

Absolutely amazing time, we drove a couple hours from Ontario CA and it was MORE than worth it. We rented a 2-person quad for 4 hours and we used up almost every minute. The greatest thing about this place is that it's not a "guided tour" nor is it limited to a tiny space to ride around. You are free to roam and roam for what literally seems endlessly in a most spectacular desert mountain landscape. I have rented numerous times from Mark. His kindness, professionalism, customer service and responsiveness to questions have always been way above standard. He has always made the process of renting as smoothly as can be and it really takes a load off my shoulders knowing that I can depend/rely/ and trust him and his staff to assure that our vacation will be a no hassle no problem rental. He works around you and your schedule, even in the most busiest holiday season. You just do not find businesses that run in this matter. I also have to comment on Juan and Daisy at Jawbone, they are the nicest people and are such a good team together. No matter how stressed or busy they are, they treat you like you are part of their family and they take care of you!!!
