We had a reservation in Princeville, Kauai (Queen's Bath) from March 12th-15th during an extreme Kona Low storm that brought over 50 inches of rain in one week. After monitoring conditions and speaking with people on the island, we were advised that travel from Poipu to Princeville would likely be unsafe or even impossible due to severe flooding. Traveling with four children--and with officials urging people to avoid unnecessary travel--we made the responsible decision to cancel. Risks included flooded roads, power outages, and limited access to the north shore due to vulnerable bridges and roadways. As a well-traveled family that has always honored reservations, this was the first time we've ever requested an exception. While we understood the policy and lack of travel insurance, we asked Funtierland and the host to apply reasonable judgment given the dangerous conditions. Instead, we were met with inflexibility, poor communication, and at times rude customer service from Funtierland, the host, and VRBO. There was no acknowledgment of the severity of the situation. This was extremely disappointing. We strongly caution anyone considering booking through Funtierland, as their lack of flexibility and customer care in clearly unsafe circumstances fell well below expectations. read more

I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience deserves to be shared. We booked a stay through Funtierland during what turned into a declared state of emergency on Kauai. While we were on the island (March 9-11), there were 60-70 mph winds, threats of flash flooding, potential power outages, and official guidance from the governor to shelter in place. Flights were impacted, and conditions were genuinely unsafe. We made the difficult decision to leave early for our safety. We were supposed to stay through March 16th. Despite these extraordinary circumstances, Funtierland has refused to provide any refund or meaningful accommodation. This is especially disappointing given that this was not a voluntary cancellation. It was a response to a government-declared emergency. We have rented vacation homes for years and have never encountered this level of inflexibility or lack of consideration. Even more frustrating, we know of other travelers on the island at the same time, booked through similar platforms, who were treated far more reasonably and received refunds. Policies are one thing, but how a company responds during a true emergency says everything about their values. Unfortunately, this experience has left us feeling completely disregarded as customers. I would strongly caution others when booking with Funtierland and consider how they might handle situations that are beyond your control. This review has been a long time coming and veryyyy long but it goes to show how terrible of an experience we had with Funtierland and their management company (specifically Shari). We went to the rental and unloaded our bags and headed out to downtown Disney for dinner. It wasn't until after we arrived back from dinner that we opened the door to one of the rooms and smelt a heavy gas smell. I immediately called the number I was given for Funtierland management and was forwarded to Shari. This was at 8:06pm in an 8 minute conversation with Shari. During the phone conversation Shari insisted that it couldn't possibly be a gas leak because it was in the bedroom not the kitchen. She then suggested I just open a window to air out the room. Upon opening the drapes which were conveniently closed because they were masking the bubbled foam all around the windowsill. I told her what I saw and she said she had no idea why that could be happening as there had been no work done in that room/window and asked me to send her a picture. I sent her a picture at 8:13PM. Shari didn't respond to me until 8:32PM and offered to move us to a smaller complex with two bedrooms. We declined to move because we had a baby sleeping in the master and a toddler sleeping now with us and Shari had insisted it couldn't be a gas leak. Shari also suggested we could "drag a mattress off the bed as well and move it to another room". At 9:41AM the next day (May 8th) I received an automated text message from Funtierland asking me to rate the CLEANLINESS of the home from 1-5. I responded with "1 - still waiting to hear back from someone regarding the window situation and smell in the bunk bed room". It wasn't until then that I received any kind of response from Shari regarding the issue from the night before. She responded that her guy would be over shortly to check it out. Per Shari's own maintenance report, her guy completed their inspection at 12:57PM. However, this contradicts her screenshot of the incoming call from the gas company at 2:05PM. Her maintenance guy writes that the gas company conducted their inspection and completed at 12:57PM but she didn't speak to them until 2:05PM per her own submission. I still hadn't heard from Shari all day despite her maintenance report and screen shot from the phone call with the gas company that everything had been "resolved" (documents I was able to view when I initiated a credit card dispute). So I texted her AGAIN at 3:52PM to which I never received a response. What was even more frustrating was that I was also not returning to the property because I was waiting to hear back from Shari and her team about the maintenance that was to take place and therefore both my 4 year old and baby were unable to take naps at the property. Part of the reason for choosing the place we chose was because of the convenience of location to Disneyland Park as they boast on their description, being able to come back for my children to get adequate naps so we could go back and enjoy the night shows. Therefore, this night we were unable to enjoy the night time show. On May 8th at 10:44PM I had still not heard back from Shari or any of the management team regarding the property being taken care of. We entered the property and saw the bubbled over window had been taken care of. However, while cleaning dishes I saw something on the ground and went to pick it up (I have a crawling baby, anything on the ground is an immediate choking hazard at her age). And that's when I discovered a dead bug. I took a picture on my iPhone as I wasn't sure what it was and wanted to be sure. The iPhone identified it as an "oriental cockroach" or "American cockroach". I immediately sent the picture to Shari and stated "We just found this on the kitchen floor...not sure what this is but based on the picture search on my phone it does say it is a cockroach...please call me". Shari didn't answer so at 10:48PM I called her and we had an 11 minute phone conversation which was completely unprofessional to which Shari asked me what I wanted her to do about it and she had lived in California for a long time and these pests get in the properties and the fact that it was dead was a good sign pest control was working. At 11:14PM on May 8th, I called a hotel and spent 15 minutes booking new accommodations - something that should never have had to be done if Funtierland's website description of their property was accurate and truthful. I uprooted my family (including my parents) and my small sleeping children to move to the hotel. There's so much more I could type about the conditions and unprofessional-ism of the "management" company *Shari in particular* but why waste any more of my time. I just wanted to share my villa rental experience with anyone looking to book one through Funtierland Vacation Rentals. This review is for the F-37 house (Atlantis). - We arrived to check in at 4:34 pm (check in was a 4 pm) the housekeeper was at the house playing with pool toys, and she didn't leave until 4:50 pm - When we tried to take a shower, soap scum, black mold, and spider eggs were discovered in the showers throughout the house - Hair and yellow stains all over the sheets in every room, as well as the linen closet sheets - Hair and stains on towels in linen closet - Stained pillows - PH level off in the pool - Birds nest in backyard by pool - Black mold on floor and lounge chairs in backyard I have contacted Shari, the operations manager from day one in regards to the issues and I have heard nothing but excuses. Also, I advised that black mold needs to be removed by a professional and not a housekeeper, as the caulking around the shower would need to be torn out and replaced. Our rating for The Carnelian is FIVE OUT OF FIVE STARS! Staying with "Funtierland" is as big a part of our Disneyland Trip as the Park itself! This is our 5th stay with "Funtierland". We book with them time after time because of the wonderful properties and excellent Customer Service. Shari, Rachel, and the whole team work with you to select a house that best suits your goals and needs. This year they recommended and we selected "The Carnelian". We are a family of 6; 4 Adults and two boys (8 & 11). The Carnelian is "on paper" larger than we needed (5 BD/3 BA) and a bit more expensive than our previous "Funtierland " home, but we came to feel it is WELL-WORTH it. Situated on "Carnelian Dr.", don't be dissuaded by the homes location two houses from the corner of 4-lane Street - this house is QUIET!!! (VERY important to us). You will not hear any street noise when inside the home. It's curb appeal is nice, it's well-maintained. Entry throughout our trip was easy with on-door combination entry. The room placement is fantastic! Large master in far right with an additional bedroom next-door. A LARGE Master Bath sits in between with a massive multi-head shower. Three additional bedrooms are located on the other end of home including a bunk suite for kiddos. There's a large, well-equipped kitchen and huge dining table. There's available storage spaces under kitchen island and in the sideboard (which also holds plenty of additional towels (pool and bath). There's a large great room with plenty of seating. Upgrades include wall-to-wall ceramic wood plank tiles (easy to keep our beach sand swept up!); lights with dimmers; automatic lighting in bathrooms and TVs in both Great Rooms and almost all bedrooms (complete with Roku). Two separate cooling units keep help comfortable. The whole space was super clean, fresh and comfortable. The extra amenities are really something! I didn't measure but I guesstimate the swimming pool is 25 meters (including LARGE attached Spa). The pool is thoughtfully planned with steps in the shallow end that make for a lagoon area for toddlers (wading with parents). A house-length deck is spacious for all with plenty of lounge chairs and a large gas BBQ. The garage has arcade games, etc. for all. The washer and dryer come equipped with all you need for a "mid-week wash". You can walk to Food 4 Less and CVS Drug Store. And Disneyland is a quick drive away. The biggest "extra" is "Funtierland" extraordinary service. They stay connected throughout your stay and help with anything you need. We ALWAYS have a great stay and now are "Carnelian" fans, for sure!!! read more

We really enjoyed this big family home. it is a quick ten minute drive from Disneyland and just a few minutes to Walmart to shop. The kitchen is well stocked and there are plenty of towels and extra bedding too. Our grandchildren and children really enjoyed the pool, hot tub and water slide! We also played table tennis in the garage and basketball in the driveway, so the kids were not bored. Another convenient option is the French doors that close off the bedrooms so you can put the kids to bed and enjoy a late night movie or card game in the theatre room. The manager was super helpful and available through text anytime. We had so much fun we plan to come back to the same house! read more

First let me say that I understand the pandemic has been hard on the travel industry. I feel really bad for the companies that had limited income for many months. And, I feel bad for those who suffered illness and had to cancel reservations - losing deposits - through no fault of their own. My family fits into that category. The team at Funtierland was very thorough with defined reservations and dozens of documents that we had to provide for a simple 5 night stay. They clearly protected themselves in the event the renter (my family) didn't honor their part of the contract. When my adult daughter tested positive for COVID five days before our check-in date, I called right away to see what our options might be. Maybe a penalty fee? A future credit to stay at a later date? I was open to suggestions. The person I spoke to said there were no options - and no refund of the almost $1,800. They did say that they'd put the condo back into the rental pool - and if someone stayed there, we'd get a partial credit of their payment. We didn't experience this issue with the other money we'd spent for the trip. The airline was extremely cooperative - providing a full credit on future flights for all 6 of us that were traveling. Disney reservations offered a full credit on a future park entrance within a year of purchase. A day after I notified them of my daughter's positive test for COVID, I called Funtierland back to see if I could assign our reservation to a friend. They indicated that was not allowed, but they would post the property for the 5 nights - if it was rented, a credit issued. A couple of weeks went by and I called about the partial refund. They said some of the nights were occupied and I'd be getting a partial refund. A supervisor would contact me. After a couple weeks I called back and I was told someone made a mistake and that their was no occupancy for the nights we reserved - so no refund would be issued. I again asked if I could rebook with some of our full payment applying to a future stay. No, not possible. Then I remembered I paid a cleaning fee. I asked if that would be refunded? The person said they'd check with management. After multiple calls a credit was issued of $339. So, I'm still out over $1,400. A week after my daughter came down with COVID, my wife tested positive, then a week later I tested positive too. There was no way we could have made the trip in December - so I don't regret having to cancel, but the lack of working with us will not be forgotten. We are presently planning to reschedule our trip to Disneyland. By the way, one of the main reasons I chose Funtierland was they promote themselves as a small, family owned company. This gave me the impression I'd have a great experience. From the time I committed, It seemed very "corporate". Lots of rules, clarifications, contracts, agreements to sign, etc. Not at all what I expected. And, certainly not accommodating. I tried to make a reservation through VRBO, but was contacted by email to agree to an additional credit card fee - on top of the $303 in fees they were already charging - which they did not disclose on VRBO. Instead they suggested that I pay via e-check - VRBO specifically advises not to do this and says it will void all guarantees. In addition, although they list a 100% refund up to 60 days on VRBO, they have you agree in the email to a $150 cancellation fee. Super scammy, I canceled my reservation with them. read more

I have stayed with Funtierland a few times. My last stay at the Helena house was great. The good communication from beginning to end makes it so easy. The kids room was so fun for the kids. BUYER BEWARE: As soon as I questioned both the ethics and legal validity to their procedures they refused to provide any details on the City of Anaheims law they kept referencing to try and collect my children's data AND charge a 3.9% surcharge for using a Credit Card to purchase the rental. Neither practices were carried out by them under the clear guidelines of California law. But they said that I wasn't a fit to rent from them and cancelled my paid for contract! Don't send them your entire families data or intel without knowing your rights. Also, you shouldn't work thru a company that wants to make a profit on surcharges for using a Credit Card. There are so many other companies with even nicer homes in this area - I recommend going elsewhere. read more

We stayed at The Wonderland House. We were a family group of 9 and it was spacious enough to accomodate all of us. It is very close to Disneyland, grocery stores, Walgreens, etc. The pool is nice and big, but needs a bit more outside furniture (4 chairs). It was very nicely heated for us. The communication with this company is exceptional! They accomodated our early arrival request (small fee) I only gave 4 stars because "I" think it could use a bit more 'theme', outdoor furniture & clean carpets. I am all about CLEAN. We went to a cheerleading competition and we stayed in the Disney themed house!every room was hand painted huge characters on the wall my grand children went crazy there was 6 of them ages ranges 10-5 months. We were able to cook enjoy the pool in January. I read a lot of the reviews before going and was so scared because the strict rules afraid to make a mistake, but it was not like that at all we were just respectful of the neighbors ( fantastic neighborhood). We went to the parks all day watched the fireworks from the front lawn and went to bed. The house was beautiful spacious very very clean! I have nothing but great things to say one of the best Airbnb I have ever been too! The responses were super fast! The light switches were tricky because there were a lot of them but it made for a well lite house at night! I will go again and again I have 9 children and 17 grandchildren only 1/2 of us went this time. Also so close to Disneyland, downtown Disney, oh yeah and the store is right down the street! We stayed for two nights at the under the sea rental and it was awesome. It was within walking distance to Disneyland so we didn't have to pay for parking which was great. They had lot of different strollers you could use and the whole place was well stocked with things you might need. Definitely would book again in the future. read more

Rented the Rapunzel's Tower property for a weekend getaway. Paid $1932.03 for 3 nights. Night before we arrived, we were told the front yard was being redone with no offer to switch properties. We arrived to a large dirt pile and garbage dump in front yard. The next morning, on a Saturday, starting at 8am, workers arrived to start drilling in front yard. We complained, but nothing was done. The workers remained until late afternoon and returned the next morning to do the same. It was horribly unprofessional and a total invasion of privacy. On top of this, we paid extra $79.00 for a COVID Electrostatic Sprayer to ensure safety which was totally disregarded with having workers breathing in front and using the same garbage cans on side of home that we were. Additionally, an unmasked gardener showed up on Saturday for 3 hours early afternoon to clean the backyard. We could not use the pool during that time and had to disinfect all the access gates the gardener touched before enjoying the backyard. When I asked management for some type of compensation for all of the inconvenience, she attempted to gaslight me, making claims that we were able to enjoy the home despite construction. In the midst of gaslighting, she offered $100 back for the inconvenience, which I find totally unacceptable. Posting her letter below. Do not rent from this company. The bottom line is that they think it is acceptable to rent homes that are currently being worked on. Furthermore, they do not care about making you feel safe renting from them during a pandemic. Deborah I am sorry for the delay. I have spoken to management and he is willing to give you a $100 refund for the inconvenience of having workers in the front area of the property at times during your stay.. We feel the home is significantly upgraded from the home you booked so that was a big bonus and you got a significantly better property than you paid for. It does say in our contract that pool and gardener services will take place during your stay. So although you did not like that he was back there, we do disclose he will possibly be there during your stay. We feel you were able to enjoy all the amenities the home had to offer. For the small amount of time you needed to use the front of the house (like to walk back and forth to your car etc) and the workers were only there total of 10-12 hours of that time we feel $100 is a fair refund for that. Your $500 rules deposit was refunded on 9/10/20 but we realize that the payment processors and a bit behind so it is taking longer than usual to see the refund on your side of things. After purchasing my flights and then park reservations I received an email that my 4 night stay created a 2 night gap on the calendar and they wanted me to change my trip. Either make it shorter or move my dates of my trip. I called and expressed that I was staying 4 nights and my trip is less than a month away and the customer service representative said I had to move my trip or cancel my reservation. I would not recommend you book through this company. They should not use VRBO if the on booking process they use is different. This was the first time I didn't rent a hotel and I was very happy I didn't. My family and I enjoyed the comfort of a home on our vacation. We had a big group and it was more affordable staying together. The game room and pool was a nice break from the busy parks. The rooms were spacious and the living room and dining room, inviting. We were able to cook for our large family as well which saved us money! Booking the funtierland house was easy and the employees were very nice and helpful! We stayed at a Funtierland property across from DL for 5 nights and had a fantastic stay! The condo was exactly as pictured and the check in/out process was extremely easy and efficient. We had a very small issue upon arrival that was rectified immediately with the response from Funtierland being prompt and efficient. I highly recommend this family owned small business. We booked with them through Air B&B but next time I will book directly through them and cut out the middle man. Let me start by saying they don't even deserve 1 star I have rented houses in the past and never have ever experienced anything to the magnitude of me moving forward with filling a complaint against Funtierland. This place cost me almost $3900 to rent, an additional cost of $500 they told me about just 2 weeks prior to our arrival date $ $115 to heat the pool, no questions asked I paid it. The day of entry we encountered so many things wrong I.e. the previous tenants trash, a flooded side of the house from a broken pool pump or something, broken bathroom faucet among other things, now I will say that they did remove the trash & tried to fix the sink. Not mention we were harassed by the neighbor across the street, she was even caught by my son peeping in our vehicles. Now here is the kicker we used the pool towels but we washed every single one and folded them, the rules say remove all the linens from the beds wash a load put in the dryer then start a second load which we did but as were doing so my husband and I saw the mattress pads covered with filth & stains and that was all the beds in the house. I quickly text Shari who never responded, I gave her a few days then I called so here I am almost a week later and still no form of communication from her. I called Airbnb and explained to them so the host decided to refund me only $260 of my deposit, Airbnb refunded me the rest. In order to be fully compensated I should have told them about the mattress covers within 24hrs (I'm perplexed) so basically they said to I'm to go in remove the linens, I'm like who does that. The amount of money that I put out that place should have been spotless and they want to hold my deposit when we cleaned that house prior to checking out because that's the way I am. booked a 3 night stay at a home near Disneyland for July 2021. Property pictures looked beautiful and we began planning our trip. My family booked their flights and we reserved our Disneyland Park tickets/dates. The following evening I realized I had not received an email confirmation from Fruntierland regarding our reservation. I called and they stated our reservation was on "hold" since there was a 2 day gap in the property reservations before and after our stay. I reluctantly stated we could extend our reservation to 4 nights if it was required to get the property. No problem they said! I booked, paid, and signed the rental agreement. Within a hour of signing the rental agreement and my credit card being charged I received a call stating we would have to extend to a 6 night reservation to keep the house. I was blown away! I said I signed the agreement and it was final, we could not afford 6 nights and our work schedules wouldn't allow it. Moments later, I received an email that our reservation had been cancelled by management. No further discussion, and completely unprofessional. I logged onto their website and the property was available for 5 nights maximum during those dates. I spoke to my family and we decided we could splurge the extra night if it ensured the vacation we had already setup. I booked the 5 nights online... again. The next day I received an email that they would "honor" our new reservation if we paid an additional $199 "gap fee". I was infuriated at this point. There was no mention of a "gap fee" when I first tried to book 3 nights, or 4 nights! I cancelled immediately as they obviously just try to squeeze every penny out of their clientele. We stayed in Funtierland's "Walt's Place" in Anaheim. Our family group of 12 (siblings, in-laws, and kids) found this to be an ideal spot for our Orange County vacation. First, we learned that we could pile into our rental vehicle and be to the Disneyland Resort parking garage, through security, and off the tram in about 20 minutes. Second, we could drive to the Laguna, Newport, or Huntington beaches in a little over 30 minutes. Third, for those flying, the Orange County Airport (SNA) was only about 20 minutes away. The place is also close to Additionally, the shared (with two adjacent Funtierland rentals) pool and private hot tub at the rental were a hit with all the kids (ages 12 to 16) and the adults. Finally, the bedroom/bathroom setup couldn't have been better for our situation, with a master suite both downstairs and upstairs and four other bedrooms and two additional bathrooms upstairs. The kitchen was spacious and well-equipped and we found ample eating room around the two large tables in the dining/living area and at the six-person table outside. The place was clean, stocked with lots of towels for both inside and out, and everything was in working order. Communication with Funtierland was great and we had no problems letting ourselves in or accessing the amenities. This was the best thing for us to stay with Funtierland Vacation Rentals! The house was super clean, the place was exactly as pictured! We had four generations able to stay together and we were so close to Disney that we could see the fireworks from the backyard. We will definitely use them again, and already planning another trip with the hope to stay in the same location again. read more

We really enjoy staying at the Funtierland rental homes. Since covid started we have had a few "staycations" at their properties and we have always had a great experience. Our favorite stay so far has been Rapunzel's Tower, the pictures do not do it justice! The home is decorated beautifully and the pool is perfect for families. The customer service has been great too. They are quick to respond and friendly. My family and I are just looking for another excuse to check out some of their other homes. read more

Not sure why there is such a low review or less comments but the experience we had not just at the house but with the FAMILY RUN COMPANY that oversees everything was beyond exceptional. From the booking to the onsite communication through the post leaving communication - never EVER had a better booking experience. Then there was the house - I am used to seeing photos and houses not living up to photos - well we were BLOWN away on arrival because it EXCEEDED our expectations 10 fold. We stayed at a Funtierland rental when we went to Disneyland. They place was exactly as described. It was very clean. Had a lot of nice touches for little children. Lots of rules in place, but nothing different then we would have done anyway! We would definitely stay there again! read more
