    This review has been a long time coming and veryyyy long but it goes to show how terrible of an experience we had with Funtierland and their management company (specifically Shari). We went to the rental and unloaded our bags and headed out to downtown Disney for dinner. It wasn't until after we arrived back from dinner that we opened the door to one of the rooms and smelt a heavy gas smell. I immediately called the number I was given for Funtierland management and was forwarded to Shari. This was at 8:06pm in an 8 minute conversation with Shari. During the phone conversation Shari insisted that it couldn't possibly be a gas leak because it was in the bedroom not the kitchen. She then suggested I just open a window to air out the room. Upon opening the drapes which were conveniently closed because they were masking the bubbled foam all around the windowsill. I told her what I saw and she said she had no idea why that could be happening as there had been no work done in that room/window and asked me to send her a picture. I sent her a picture at 8:13PM. Shari didn't respond to me until 8:32PM and offered to move us to a smaller complex with two bedrooms. We declined to move because we had a baby sleeping in the master and a toddler sleeping now with us and Shari had insisted it couldn't be a gas leak. Shari also suggested we could "drag a mattress off the bed as well and move it to another room". At 9:41AM the next day (May 8th) I received an automated text message from Funtierland asking me to rate the CLEANLINESS of the home from 1-5. I responded with "1 - still waiting to hear back from someone regarding the window situation and smell in the bunk bed room". It wasn't until then that I received any kind of response from Shari regarding the issue from the night before. She responded that her guy would be over shortly to check it out. Per Shari's own maintenance report, her guy completed their inspection at 12:57PM. However, this contradicts her screenshot of the incoming call from the gas company at 2:05PM. Her maintenance guy writes that the gas company conducted their inspection and completed at 12:57PM but she didn't speak to them until 2:05PM per her own submission. I still hadn't heard from Shari all day despite her maintenance report and screen shot from the phone call with the gas company that everything had been "resolved" (documents I was able to view when I initiated a credit card dispute). So I texted her AGAIN at 3:52PM to which I never received a response. What was even more frustrating was that I was also not returning to the property because I was waiting to hear back from Shari and her team about the maintenance that was to take place and therefore both my 4 year old and baby were unable to take naps at the property. Part of the reason for choosing the place we chose was because of the convenience of location to Disneyland Park as they boast on their description, being able to come back for my children to get adequate naps so we could go back and enjoy the night shows. Therefore, this night we were unable to enjoy the night time show. On May 8th at 10:44PM I had still not heard back from Shari or any of the management team regarding the property being taken care of. We entered the property and saw the bubbled over window had been taken care of. However, while cleaning dishes I saw something on the ground and went to pick it up (I have a crawling baby, anything on the ground is an immediate choking hazard at her age). And that's when I discovered a dead bug. I took a picture on my iPhone as I wasn't sure what it was and wanted to be sure. The iPhone identified it as an "oriental cockroach" or "American cockroach". I immediately sent the picture to Shari and stated "We just found this on the kitchen floor...not sure what this is but based on the picture search on my phone it does say it is a cockroach...please call me". Shari didn't answer so at 10:48PM I called her and we had an 11 minute phone conversation which was completely unprofessional to which Shari asked me what I wanted her to do about it and she had lived in California for a long time and these pests get in the properties and the fact that it was dead was a good sign pest control was working. At 11:14PM on May 8th, I called a hotel and spent 15 minutes booking new accommodations - something that should never have had to be done if Funtierland's website description of their property was accurate and truthful. I uprooted my family (including my parents) and my small sleeping children to move to the hotel. There's so much more I could type about the conditions and unprofessional-ism of the "management" company *Shari in particular* but why waste any more of my time. Look at the pictures I've attached that should be enough. PS. Shari will send you over a nice little "gag order" if you try and dispute with her saying you can't write any negative reviews or even discuss the negative experience...

    I just wanted to share my villa rental experience with anyone looking to book one through Funtierland Vacation Rentals. This review is for the F-37 house (Atlantis). - We arrived to check in at 4:34 pm (check in was a 4 pm) the housekeeper was at the house playing with pool toys, and she didn't leave until 4:50 pm - When we tried to take a shower, soap scum, black mold, and spider eggs were discovered in the showers throughout the house - Hair and yellow stains all over the sheets in every room, as well as the linen closet sheets - Hair and stains on towels in linen closet - Stained pillows - PH level off in the pool - Birds nest in backyard by pool - Black mold on floor and lounge chairs in backyard I have contacted Shari, the operations manager from day one in regards to the issues and I have heard nothing but excuses. Also, I advised that black mold needs to be removed by a professional and not a housekeeper, as the caulking around the shower would need to be torn out and replaced. No offer to move us into another clean and mold free rental and she also declined a partial refund. **Consumer beware**

    This is my second time renting Walt's place! 1st time was 5 years ago and everything had been well taken care of!!! Great accommodations, perfect location and fun Disney theme throughout the house!!!

    Plenty of seating!

    I have stayed with Funtierland a few times. My last stay at the Helena house was great. The good communication from beginning to end makes it so easy. The kids room was so fun for the kids. They just put in a new mattress in the master which was very comfortable. The common space is very roomy and plenty of space for the 10 guests we had! I will be back again soon!

We felt it was a privilege to stay here and vote it the best of the many homes we have rented in Newport Beach over the years. Also, Vicki Hagen at Newport Beach Vacation Rentals was extremely helpful with booking and details. Easy check in and check out procedures. Would highly recommend.

They have a checkin area where you can unload all your stuff as well before moving your car to the parking lot. The cottages have a microwave & a refrigerator with a sink. You can't use the stove/oven, just FYI. I did a 1 nighter in a shared cottage in November. It was cooler weather and we were in the white house upstairs. We had the loft and another party had the side room. We have no issues sharing the common space and it was fun to experience. This April, I scored a 2 night in cottage 4B on the only rainy/gloomy weekend we've had here. Of all the luck. Within 6days of reservation date, you lose 1 night stay so it was sunk cost so I went ahead and did both nights. Easy to check in and checkout. If you are down the hill, you can get a ride on the golf carts which are very nice. 2 cars overnight as well per cabin. Rooms were clean. There is no AC so be prepared depending on your weather. I wanted to leave windows open but most don't have a screen so you get bugs and I was afraid of critters coming in. (Saw it on a youtube from someone. ) Each cottage is different but great to get away. Beautiful location! SYOY!

    Ok. I grew up in Orange County and only found out about place this a couple of months ago…read more The history of the cottages is way too long to go into here, but it is very interesting. Currently there are full cottages (like an Airbnb), dorms (private rooms with shared living space),and three ADA cottages. The prices range from $53 -$338 per space, per night, all year. Reservations for the cottages open up 6 months in advance at 8am, and the dorms open up 1 month in advance at 8am. The max time length is 7 days, per reservation. They are located right on the beach in Crystal cove, with full kitchens, bedding, towels, and toilet paper. The views are GORGEOUS!!! Lots of windows, and there is nothing like falling asleep to the sound of waves crashing. We stayed in 29B which is the loft inside building 29 (4 twin beds and private bath downstairs) so cute, so comfortable, and just a lovely stay! The Beachcomber restaurant is located right on the beach as well, serving breakfast lunch and dinner. SUPER packed in summer, not such much in winter. There is a snack bar area, a couple historical building, and a souvenir shop adjacent to the restaurant. The Shake Shack is up at the top of the cliff, up a huge flight of stairs, on PCH. There is also a private meeting room located next to the reg office if you wanted to host a meeting overlooking the ocean. PLEASE NOTE FOR PARKING: the reg office is located past the ranger station, and you have to drive up there to get your keys and unload your car. Then you are given a parking permit, and have to drive your car across the street (PCH) and walk back to the cottage area, about a 10 min walk with minor hills. For the ADA cottages, you can park very close to the cottage. PRO-TIP: bring your own coffee cups, plates, silverware. Very limited in the cabin

My family and I decided to stay there for Spring Break, and it was our first time visiting the hotel. From the moment we arrived, the valet staff warmly greeted us and opened our doors with such kindness and professionalism. Upon entering the hotel, everyone at the front desk was incredibly welcoming and friendly. Gershorn, the bellman, was especially engaging and extremely helpful with storing our items and assisting us at the front desk. The front desk manager, Itzya, who checked us in, was also very engaging with us and our children. She provided outstanding customer service and made sure we had all the amenities and information we needed since it was our first time staying at the resort. Our room was fantastic, with a beautiful view of the Huntington Beach Pier. We had the opportunity to watch the sunset overlooking the ocean, which was truly remarkable and such a special memory to share with our family. The kids had an absolute blast at the Driftwood Pool. The pool service was amazing as well. The staff frequently checked on us, and our food was brought out in a timely manner. The security team also provided excellent customer service and did a wonderful job ensuring the pool area remained secure. Sean Williams (Security Director) & Jose (Security Manager) did an outstanding job with the security team they created. We also had the pleasure of meeting the general manager, Paulette Fischer, who personally greeted us and made sure our stay was going well. There are not many hotels I have visited where the General Manager personally interacts with guests. Thank you, Paulette, for taking the time to connect with your guests and make them feel welcome.     This hotel and its policies have been an absolute nightmare. There is currently a reported chemical…read moregas leak issue, and we pleaded with the hotel to simply move our reservation from this weekend to another date. Because we booked through a third-party site, we were completely denied any flexibility or accommodation. To make matters worse, I was repeatedly criticized for not booking directly through Hilton instead of receiving any empathy or assistance. As a parent of a 3- and 5-year-old, I am not willing to risk exposing my children to any potential chemical issue, regardless of how many times staff insisted it was "perfectly safe." We are now out $1,400 simply because we chose to prioritize our children's health and safety. I even offered multiple times to pay an additional fee just to reschedule the stay, but was told "policy is policy." For some families, losing $1,400 and a family vacation may not matter. For ours, it absolutely does. The lack of compassion, flexibility, and customer care was shocking. I would give this hotel zero stars if possible. I have since deleted my Hilton Honors account and will strongly discourage friends, family, and community members from staying at Hilton properties in the future. Extremely disappointing experience from start to finish.
