Each experience was unique and provided a ton of family memories. This rental property provides a first-class view of the ocean and is two steps from the boardwalk and beach. Our family and friends have never experienced a more convenient location- in terms of closeness to the beach and within a short walk to the grocery store, bar and grills, local shopping and surf school. We will probably vacation here forever because of the prime location and the owner and her assistant. They are always pleasant and willing to go the extra mile to assure the comfort of our family. Recently, each unit was updated with fresh paint, new tile, and new furniture. There is also a grill provided for summer family BBQs. After monitoring conditions and speaking with people on the island, we were advised that travel from Poipu to Princeville would likely be unsafe or even impossible due to severe flooding. Traveling with four children--and with officials urging people to avoid unnecessary travel--we made the responsible decision to cancel. Risks included flooded roads, power outages, and limited access to the north shore due to vulnerable bridges and roadways. As a well-traveled family that has always honored reservations, this was the first time we've ever requested an exception. While we understood the policy and lack of travel insurance, we asked Funtierland and the host to apply reasonable judgment given the dangerous conditions. Instead, we were met with inflexibility, poor communication, and at times rude customer service from Funtierland, the host, and VRBO. There was no acknowledgment of the severity of the situation. This was extremely disappointing. We strongly caution anyone considering booking through Funtierland, as their lack of flexibility and customer care in clearly unsafe circumstances fell well below expectations.

While we were on the island (March 9-11), there were 60-70 mph winds, threats of flash flooding, potential power outages, and official guidance from the governor to shelter in place. Flights were impacted, and conditions were genuinely unsafe. We made the difficult decision to leave early for our safety. We were supposed to stay through March 16th. Despite these extraordinary circumstances, Funtierland has refused to provide any refund or meaningful accommodation. This is especially disappointing given that this was not a voluntary cancellation. It was a response to a government-declared emergency. We have rented vacation homes for years and have never encountered this level of inflexibility or lack of consideration. Even more frustrating, we know of other travelers on the island at the same time, booked through similar platforms, who were treated far more reasonably and received refunds. Policies are one thing, but how a company responds during a true emergency says everything about their values. Unfortunately, this experience has left us feeling completely disregarded as customers. I would strongly caution others when booking with Funtierland and consider how they might handle situations that are beyond your control. As you can see below, the business owner is claiming there was no weather in Kauai and there was. Bathrooms, bedrooms, and kitchen were all spotlessly clean and free of sand--which is saying something because we were 1 block from the beach! The view, the proximity to the beach, the walkability to restaurants and shops, I can't imagine ever even looking for something better! We were able to accommodate 3 1/2 couples! Finally, the host was on call and responded immediately on even the most minor of questions. Plus, they proactively reached out a couple times to make sure all was well!

They have a checkin area where you can unload all your stuff as well before moving your car to the parking lot. The cottages have a microwave & a refrigerator with a sink. You can't use the stove/oven, just FYI. I did a 1 nighter in a shared cottage in November. It was cooler weather and we were in the white house upstairs. We had the loft and another party had the side room. We have no issues sharing the common space and it was fun to experience. This April, I scored a 2 night in cottage 4B on the only rainy/gloomy weekend we've had here. Of all the luck. Within 6days of reservation date, you lose 1 night stay so it was sunk cost so I went ahead and did both nights. Easy to check in and checkout. If you are down the hill, you can get a ride on the golf carts which are very nice. 2 cars overnight as well per cabin. Rooms were clean. There is no AC so be prepared depending on your weather. I wanted to leave windows open but most don't have a screen so you get bugs and I was afraid of critters coming in. (Saw it on a youtube from someone. ) Each cottage is different but great to get away. Beautiful location! SYOY!

You have to try the bartender's famous Abuelita Horchata cocktail, a delicious mix of chocolate and a dash of cinnamon. It was absolutely incredible! The staff were super friendly and helpful. They do have complementary dog beds that are huge and comfortable, they also have pack N plays for your little ones and also offer microwaves upon request. They have 2 pools, one with the slides and a beach entry pool. The other with a regular pool and different activities for the whole family to play with (ping pong table, giant chess, giant connect four) we only went to the one with the slide and our kids (ages 2- 10) loved it! We went closer to sundown but the water was warm so it felt nice. They have staff at almost all entrances checking for your wrist band to make sure you're staying there. There's access to the beach from both pools. It's a short walk to the crosswalk and you're there! They also have complementary wagons, beach chairs and you can take the towels with you and just return them when you get back! Makes it so easy to go! They do have a bar at the pool with the slides, we loved everything we got. My pool wrist band ended up getting too tight so I went to the front desk and they cut it off for me and gave me a new one. Again they were super friendly about that and even asked if we needed more water or anything. The cleanliness of the resort was top tier. It was walking distance from restaurants and the pier so we all had a lovely overall experience. Will definitely be back!
