Front desk staff and opticians are incompetent. They bragged about how they carefully inspect eyeglasses before dispensing to patient. Despite me providing my Silhouette frame and pattern, my glasses came back with wrong pattern, TWICE! Front staff acted like they were doing me a favor by not charging a fee for a referral to ophthalmologist for Lasik. Two things. If a professional tells me they're not charging me for something that's a common practice like referrals, are there hidden charges for services they aren't telling me about? Second, why do i need to provide my medical insurance? I was told in case I come in with a medical emergency and too upset to provide medical ins info, my card would be on file. If I had a severe eye injury and I was that distraught, I'd go to the ED, not their office. Definitely not returning. read more

I went in for my yearly eye exam and mentioned to Dr. Dan the problem i was having with dry eyes. He recommended OptiLite treatment, which I went for and am very happy with. I was confused about the billing with the OptiLite treatment, Jaime, Laura, and Emma at the front desk got it straightened out for me within an hour! Kyle was great helping me choose two frames and getting the right lenses, and then making sure they fit right when they came in, which was less than two weeks later! I am very happy with the office and the staff and will be back next year. read more

Very disappointed in the customer service at this highly rated office. I ordered glasses that did not work out both by frame and by lens. They would not give me a refund because they said they had already filed with my insurance however, I paid in cash. Once they realized that, they said I would be charged a 25% restocking fee on these brand new frames and when I asked to see where that was a written policy, they changed their mind and said they would refund the frames and the lenses with a 30% restocking fee. So now I've paid 30% of almost $550 for nothing and I'll need to go to a different optometrist office now to pay for new frames and lenses when I should have been able to just refund the frames and have the lenses redone with this office. Be warned - if you are unsure of your frame purchase, make sure you get them somewhere else that has a proper refund policy. read more

I made an appointment with this provider based off their good Google reviews. Here are my thoughts: * I waited in the lobby 30 min past my appointment..typical doctors office protocol so ..it is what it is . * Doctor took awhile to see me ..but was quick with the exam. * The reason for the 2 star review is because after the exam I was treated like garbage . No one seemed to really care if I was there or not and I was told I would be put on a "list" and was asked to go sit in the lobby..again. Fuquay Eye Care earns 20 stars. Our entire family has very different personalities and all 4 family members received top rate service from their individual appointments. Fantastic experience x 4. Everyone's eye appointment was positive from the testing, eye doctor appointment as well picking out new glasses. It was an awesome experience for all 4 of us. We wound up having Crystal and she was awesome and patient with all 4 of us individually. We picked a bunch of frames and helped us navigate which look would work best for each family member. Dr. Daniel O'Dowd ability to Connect with our 13 year old regarding her eyes in a scientific manner blew me away. She left feeling confident about what she recently learned in school and how it connected to her eyes and eye care. His demeanour is pleasant and welcoming. My husband and Son asked enjoyed their appointments with Dr. D O'Dowd and reported him to be knowledgeable, and top notch. I had Dr. Teresa Pham who was excellent and enjoyed her pleasant demeanour. I would have give a zero star if I could. The optometrist has been nice and great however, the glasses and lens business on the side is awful. Staff are incompetent and passive aggressive (especially the older lady). I should have known better after they had screwed up my frames before. People need to realize that they will have zero responsibility if they break your frames but if you have to cancel your order, you will be paying for the fee (even when it is not your fault). I will not go back to this practice ever again. I will not recommend anyone to go here neither. read more

Went to your Fuquay Eye Care recently to get an Eye Exam and possibly purchase some Eye Glasses...Told all staff upfront that my Insurance would pay a maximum of $300.00 toward the Glasses and Frames...I wanted to keep the cost below that amount...I told all the staff, that I only needed Single Vision Reading Glasses, and a Inexpensive Frame to keep the costs down...During the first fitting, the initial quote that they gave me was @ $467.00...I said No Thank You because of the cost, and asked for my eye prescription and left the store...Took my prescription to another Location, and to my amazement the prescription was not for Single Lens Readers, as I had asked for, but were for higher cost Progressive Bifocals...Went back to Fuquay Eye care to ask about this and their explanation was that I had (2) prescriptions and I was incorrectly only given the Bifocal Prescription by mistake. They then proceeded to give me the lower cost, Single Lens Prescription, and wanted to know if they could Quote that Prescription for me, which I declined and took the Single Lens Reader Prescription to another Location, and got the prescription filled for less than $300.00, which is all I ever wanted...I told Fuquay Eye Care upfront, that I only needed "Readers", but they ignored my request and they attempted the Upsell and they ended up Losing a Customer and the Sale...When you can.......Give the Customer what he asks for, First.....Then present him with the other Options... read more

My son got glasses this year and already his lens has came off. He wears a special lens and they sent him home with his glasses one sided. They had trouble getting the handle right, I should have never left Johnsons optometric, and after this, I'm taken my son back. read more

This has been the best eyecare center that I've ever been to. Everyone working here was super professional and friendly. They weren't super pushy about getting me to pay for any extras or buy contacts/glasses directly on the spot (like MyEyeDr). My only complaint was that it was a little hard to find this location, as my GPS (Waze and Googlemaps) took me to a random neighborhood at the end of Judd Parkway. I've been going to FECC for 10+ years - they're fast, professional, & very hospitable. It's truly a family practice for families. Free coffee while you wait & a cute kids play corner. Exams are fast and thorough - all the technicians are kind & patient. I love that the 2 doctors are married and they're very different personalities. Dr. Evangeline O'Dowd tells it to you straight - no frills, very efficient, just the facts, & she's super fast. That can be really helpful when you need to get through the appt and out the door. Her husband is like your kind neighbor - he's talkative & joking, takes time to chat & learn about you. He's gifted at setting nervous patients at ease. I have been a patient here since 2009. When I have an appointment I always feel welcome. I have never had to wait more than a few minutes to be seen. Since it's been 4 years ago, I'm sure I was asked about my insurance information and due to the type of insurance I have, I have gotten some very welcome discounts. My eyes are really bad, so my glasses are quite expensive. I know that up front. The fee's for the examination are reasonable and always covered. Some doctor's I have seen, I usually have a balance to pay that my insurance doesn't cover. Never had that happen here. They have a large selection of glass frames, and I have always found something I've been happy with, without costing me a fortune. And, I get two pairs, due to needing sunglasses too. Right now I am in the process of getting contact lenses. As I said earlier, my eyes are terrible and contacts are quite a challenge. Everyone has been very helpful and patient. I'm on my 3rd set of test lenses and I have not gotten any negativity due to this tedious process. They want to make me happy and I appreciate that. I have recommended these folks to my co-workers and those who have gone have also been pleased. No stuffy doctor's here. I like them both as well as the technicians. read more

Been going here since 2015. Average spend each time for 2 pair of glasses over $1000 with insurance. Put off cataracts surgery for two years on doctors advice. Had surgery one week ago. Wanted to get get a pair of glasses to transition until my next appointment. Lenses were measured for existing pair of glasses. The bifocal line was positioned directly in the middle of my field of vision?!?!?Unable to use these after another $120 spend. It will now take another week or longer to get post surgery lenses re done. So I walk and drive around with glasses that have only one lens - not at all optimal vision. Sorry just is not cutting it this time. This is now the third pair of glasses in a row that were measured/made incorrectly. Doctors good, rest of experience totally up for grabs. I guess I am just another number to a less than satisfactory business that still profits regardless. read more

I can not give a star. Lens service no good. Poor quality. Eye doctor was very short, did not explain why I needed a ct scan. Would not send my records reason I owed 39.00. I felt they owed me 39.00. I paid in full cash. Again, overcharged Medicare. It took a month to get my glasses. Paid for progressive lenses, they forgot, I noticed a glare and called. Their machine was broke and I waited a month! I paid in full cash what was invoiced to me. read more

I AM VERY DISPLEASED WITH FUQUAY EYE CARE CENTER! Today my son had an appointment which they set up and when we got there they did not see him because his Disability Medicaid had our old insurance that was not in use since February of this year as primary. Having proof that his medicaid is active. They allowed people in front of us to be seen and after waiting 35mins finally told me that we are waiting on you to get his Disability insurance to clear this up. Mind you his appointment was at 4:00pm. Never telling me this as we wait. I feel judged like a person on government assistance. I am a homeowner here in Fuquay-Varina. People please stop judging African Americans !! Because it's 2019 and honestly we are not the majority In this Country on assistance no Minority race is!!!!! read more

I can't say much about the total experience but the office must be very poorly managed or the desk folks aren't very thorough because I set up an appointment a week and a half ahead of time, provided my insurance information over the phone, and then showed up at the office (which is 40 mins away from me) and was told they weren't a provider. I had seen before setting up an appt that they were a BCBS provider but did not realize BCBS FEP was separate from that. Apparently they didn't check the insurance because they had just written down BCBS and knew that was a provider but I'm pretty sure I said FEP on the phone. Even if I didn't, I submitted new patient registration forms online prior to the appointment and those definitely specified BCBS FEP. No matter what the situation, it seems that they should always check this out ahead of time to be sure and call people to let them know if they aren't a provider. I wasted a 1/4 tank of gas going out there and back and had taken time off of work as well. Be sure to cover all your bases in this regard so you are not affected by the poor office management, individual laziness, or whatever it was that kept them performing a simple function such as this. read more

as soon as i walked in i asked a lady named angie about transition glasses, how i was interested in them. the first thing she asked me bluntly, if i had insurance(like i looked like i couldnt afford them without insurance). i told her that i had the money for them and that i came because a friend recomended me there. she showed me very few selections that was part of a package that i would not even began to pay $300 for any of those,they were not stylish and cheap looking. so i started looking for other ones, their prices i feel are outrageous. i have always went to walmart, but their selection has not been the best lately.before i pay the price of one pair of glasses at fuquay eye center, i will go back to walmart and get 2 pair for the price of one at this location. who cares if they are "name brands" their selection and prices need working on. and i will not give my business to rudness, i can afford the glasses at eye care ,but chose to go elsewhere for a better deal and customer service. thanks but no thanks! treat people with more respect and you might have sold a pair of overpriced ones,do not recommend this place to anyone. read more
