My girls had teeth issues (separate occasions) and were in a lot of pain~ they both ended up needing surgical intervention. They treated my girls with the best care, like they were their own. I am not at all pleased with the services rendered nor the lack of proper experience or equipment to take something as simple as a pets blood pressure! Post op care prior to surgery was well over a grand, months of prescriptions for high blood pressure and going in paying 30 dollars for months when my pet didn't even have high blood pressure! Asking questions and wanting an explanation qualifies you as difficult to deal with. They are generalist, scope of knowledge is limited as a technician put it, that called me, as she lectured me about my attitude! Surgery was suppose to be done here, good thing is, they referred me elsewhere to control blood pressure that didn't need to be control. Bad thing I paid for something in advance and it was never done, and sure will not admit it and reimburse me! read more

I am incredibly saddened to see the newest two reviews here, my original review was left on google. I didn't find out either until way too late that the person was a generalist or that they couldn't do this or that, however when they could do this or that for my pet they simply refused to do that even when it was exactly what should have been happening and what would have saved his life. Having a different diagnosis and treating for something completely different was more important than the visible pus that could be seen from my bunny's ears for several months. Was it arrogance and complete selfishness? To look at a precious pet and willingly and knowingly do that though all out of spite. There simply is no other explanation because I cannot even attribute this to a lack of knowledge for a condition that was visible to anyone. It would be common sense to take a culture of the pus and prescribe antibiotics, the simple thing they refused to do early on. They pretended that they knew exactly what needed to be done and what treatments were needed when they couldn't have been more wrong. Since they refused each time and ignored the problem, and they selfishly never let me know that I could have referred myself or even tried to refer me to somewhere that could help him (Cornell), as there was little to no other places I could go with him at the time, my pet's health declined and his life was lost thanks to being under the false impression all was under control and could be dealt with at this place. It couldn't have been further from the truth. If I had been able to get my bunny to Cornell from day one, he would have lived, no questions about that. The anguish, the hurt, and the pain is forever felt by me, which was made worse when they tried to then blame me whilst continuing to spew more misinformation and lies. There is no excuse for this and there will never be an answer for how this was allowed to happen and how it keeps continuing to happen to others. read more

I had what I thought was an emergency with my 10 week old puppy. I explained that I'd only just gotten her and really wanted to bring her here based on reviews of friends. The receptionist was cold and 110% uncaring. Couldn't fit us in for over 2 weeks . I asked if the tick stuck in my pup should be of concern, should I call somewhere else. She repeatedly read off a script that they couldn't give advice on a pet they haven't seen. Right-- but I'm not a vet, is this an emergent issue?? Thank you for being cold and callous when I was a nervous wreck. Wouldn't recommend to anyone. Sorry, but I tried. read more

I don't like giving bad reviews but I have to say something. Even though the staff was kind and professional, they misdiagnosed our cat's issues twice. The first time they didn't notice that she had a nasty eye infection and gave her a clean bill of health, the second time, they misdiagnosed some lumps she had that eventually required emergency surgery. They also handled her with these big leather gloves and held her down in a way that I think would've been more appropriate for a bigger dog not a 7 month old kitten. My cat has an unusually mild temperament and so I believe a gentler/sneaky approach would've been more effective since they couldn't even get her temperature with their original approach anyways. I know they were trying their best, no animal likes the vet and no one likes getting bitten. Maybe they're better at diagnosing other animals? I wouldn't go here again for my cat. read more

Just tried this new clinic after a BAD experience with another and I am so happy with them. When I called the clinic the vet actually answered the phone, how often does that happen with a vet clinic??? The vet gave me a tour of the clinic and was very pleasant. I scheduled a surgery for my mom's small dog and she called me right away to let me know that all went well, also to let me know that he didn't need a dental cleaning or tooth pulled, as suggested by Southern Tier Vet clinic on Front St in Vestal. There is too much competition out there to put up with dishonest clinics (Southern Tier in Vestal). Fur and Feathers....These people are great, compassionate and fair. read more

As a former licensed Veterinary Technician, I am particular about veterinary hospitals. I look for knowledge that seriously exceeds my own, reasonable rates, and outstanding compassion. I will not tolerate anything less. Fur and Feathers has met these three requirements of mine and then some. They went well beyond my expectations when putting my beloved cat down - even making a cast ornament of his foot and wrapping him in their blanket to bring home (at no extra charge). In addition, they explain the alternate treatments and vaccine options and do not pressure me as to which one I choose. Finally, they are upfront with pricing. The staff were very helpful in caring for my new cat- a stray that I found abandoned by his previous owners. I knew nothing about his previous immunizations or health history, but the vet was great despite my lack of knowledge on this animal! She determined his approximate age and gave me the option on all the vaccinations and blood tests, without being pushy and giving financial estimates, while also thoroughly explaining their importance and the scientific reasoning for them. I have been taking my cat here since she was a kitten and for her first 3 appointments it was curbside but today I finally got to go in with her and to say the staff is so comforting towards the animals is an understatement. They let my cat roam around and never once forced her out of her carrier and let her get comfortable with the environment. They even opened the blinds so she could look outside. My cat is very antisocial and scared and by the time Dr. Personett looked at her she had her tail up and was affectionate with the doctor. The staff made this such a positive experience for my cat that she was happy and with cats that is hard to come by. As a current vet assistant at another animal hospital the knowledge and compassion they had exceeded my expectations. The fact my cat no longer is afraid to go in for her shots is incredible. It is obvious they are not in this for money but for the love of animals and it shows. Also the prices are the best I have seen and I don't have to go broke taking my pet to see a doctor. read more

Was told on their site they offered discount for multiple pets, scheduled appt for dog and cat together. Vet came in and mentioned 1/2 off 2nd $51 office visit and credited account $2.55 instead of half of $51 which is $25.50. I called on this as soon as I got home and again the next day when I did not get a response. Got calls from vet saying no set amount of discount, what???? She said half and I don't get it. I never went back and will not refer them either. read more
