The reviews of this shop are so great I decided to email the shop via their website and ask about a potential order. The shop answered a couple hours after the email was sent. However, all I received was an invoice. This invoice was addressed to "walking client" and listed the price of the order I requested. As listed, there was labor, fabric, and shipping charges. I was more than ok with the labor and fabric costs. But shipping charges? For what? I did not request the finished item to be shipped to me. I also did not choose a fabric, nor a color, so how are they charging me $45 in shipping? I asked a very specific question and there was no answer to my question. Just the invoice and a very high shipping charge that was not accounted for. There was no dialogue. No greeting. No invite to speak with them more about the order. Just an invoice. I had read that this company was very personable, kind, and do good work. I cannot confirm any of this from my experience and will not patronage a business unwilling to treat me like a client and not just a paycheck. P.S. For Pillows & More: "Walking client" should be walk-in client. As in a client who walks into your establishment on foot, not an email. read more

Ubaldo is the best! I had a sofa with a chaise cushion and two standard cushions. I wanted the chaise converted into a standard cushion to match the other two, and to 'plump up' them up. First let me say that his work was outstanding. I couldn't tell the converted cushion from the other two - it was an exact match, and all three of them looked amazing - better than when new. But Ubaldo is much more than a skilled craftsman. He is an extremely likeable fellow. He was very polite, warm, and courteous in our texts and calls. He was out when I dropped off the cushions at his shop in Hayward so I did not meet him then. When the work was done I asked him what his shop hours were so I could pick up the cushions. Before answering he asked where I lived and when I told him I was in SF he offered to deliver the cushions to me since he was going to be there for another delivery. Outstanding! We met finally when he delivered the cushions. He was genuinely happy to meet me as I him. In addition to his excellent work and customer service, his bid came in well below the others I received on Yelp. Ubaldo did a terrific job replacing a couch cushion. This was an oddly shaped chaise cushion, so we had a hard time finding anyone who would replace it for a reasonable price. Most people also would only glue together foam pieces to fill the cushion. Ubaldo provided a reasonable quote, a very quick turnaround time compared to the competition, and recommended the type of foam insert that would be the most comfortable and would hold up the longest. He delivered on all of these and provided a very high quality result -- we're able to comfortably use the half of the couch we have been avoiding for almost a year now while trying to find a reasonable way to fix it. read more
