Stay away! Receipt tells you that you can return items within 3 days. It does not stipulate ANYWHERE that mattresses are excluded. But when you take it to return and upgrade they tell you that. Not sure the legality of that but you can be damn sure I am going to find out. I would give it zero stars if possible. read more

This guy we were going through at furniture city claimed our sectional would arrive 3 weeks after our order date. We came in 3 weeks after ordering to find out he had lost our order paper and never put it in. Then claimed the couch would be ready by October 10th. Called him today and now is claiming that it won't be ready until October 17th. Worst salesman's I've ever had. read more

This is my favorite furniture store in the Portland area! Every time we are looking for a new piece of furniture I look at other stores and always end up here. They have what I am looking for and the salespeople are very helpful without being pushy. 15 years ago I bought my first set of brand new furniture from them, we loved it but I chose the wrong fabric for a family with pets (furniture covers to the rescue!). When we went back in 5 years ago to get a new set I told the salesman the issue we had and he helped me pick out not only a beautiful living room set but the best fabric for a dog friendly house. 5 years in and they are holding up perfectly! In 15 years we have purchased 2 living room sets, a bedroom set, 2 recliners, and just purchased dining chairs. We have never been unhappy with the product or the service. They carry a couple different brands but also carry Stanton furniture which is local and well made. Highly recommend this store. read more

The gentleman who helped us was a consummate professional. His name was Micheal and he was courteous, well informed and didn't hover. He let us wander and browse, without pestering us, but watched from a distance and when we were ready to ask questions he was quickly attentive. What I appreciated about the furniture is that it was made in Oregon by a local company, made to order, easy to customize, and very sturdy. I'm proud and glad to support American workers making well built, high quality products that have a decent warranty and a long use life. It's more money initially, but better for our economy and the planet in the long run. It becomes expensive and wasteful to buy cheaply made junk for less money, that has to be thrown away and replaced sooner. Bad for landfills, and a higher carbon footprint since it's shipped around the world. I have nothing against a well made foreign product- when workers are paid fairly, and it's got lasting value. But cheaper isn't always a good deal, or a for workers, consumers, or our environment. We bought a couch and recliner and we customized the color and the grade of durability of the fabric. It's scheduled to arrive in three weeks. Will add to this review after using the furniture for awhile and can give a first hand account of it's comfort and quality. read more

Bought 2 sets of bunk beds for my kids... get told the medal one with the futon was on back order! Fine my son really wanted it... 3 weeks later after calling and checking on it a few times it's finally in and scheduled for delivery! Guys show up with the wrong bed... fine that sort of thing happens... call the guy at the store and get told we can have it sometime next week!?!? Husband called back and wanted a day... he gets told that they are too busy to deal with this and will call later today!?!? And guess what?? No call! Had a great experience up until today! Going to call tomorrow and ask for my money back on it! My son can't go another week without a bed!!!! read more

My absolute most favorite person and new-found-friend and Salesman EXTRAORDINAIRE..... is . .............. CARL at the Furniture City Gresham store (off Burnside next to Gresham K-Mart)! More salesman should emulate CARL!! To the Furniture City Executive Management Team (if there even is one), I don't know who you are or where you are located, but I'd like to ask you if you even know who Carl is and the lengths he's gone for the company? Take a moment to step outside your world and meet this amazing man! He's the one down in the trenches getting his knuckles dirty and helping that company stay afloat! Carl is unlike anyone I have ever met in my entire life and I'm nearly 60 years old. I'm sure you seen the show Undercover Boss and I'm sure you've seen those hard working employees down in the trenches working their tail off...well let me tell you that is CARL!! No matter how hot or cold or busy or slow, this man gives you a 1000% of his undivided attention and all with a tender heart, and a can-do attitude. Let me remind you... that's can-do for the customer and especially for FurnitureCity. He has charisma and is respectful and I met him purely by accident when another employee blew us off to take a personal cell call. We stood there waiting when Carl noticed and excused himself from another customer he was helping and introduced himself. He apologized for the delay and said he'd help us right away AND HE WAS ALREADY HELPING ANOTHER CUSTOMER!! We looked around while he finished up with this other customer. The other employee must've gotten the hint as he hung up his cell phone nearly 10 minutes later and approached us, but we quickly dismissed him and opted instead to wait for Carl. After Carl finished with the customer he was working with he immediately came over and apologized. The rest as they say is history and weve since purchased our furniture. Thank goodness we met Carl as he built a rapport with us instantly! It didnt matter to him whether we were wealthy or poor because we were customers in that store in need of furniture. Personally, I will never forget him as long as I live. He continues to build Furniture City's reputation and likely fully responsible for keeping sales up for you too! I'm in management and I'm telling you he is a diamond in the rough! I'm sure CARL is most deserving of your appreciation and recognition more than anyone!! So if there is indeed a Corporate Office and Executive Management Team....perhaps you can step out from behind your corporate world and take time to meet this amazing individual. I have no doubt you'll be quite pleased once you do. Carl is a diamond in the rough....its high time you meet him! As a side note....he was incredibly sympathetic when I informed him of the loss of my mother. He went out of his way to check on me throughout my grieving process, and gave me one of the most important gifts you can ever give someone dealing with loss of a beloved. Time. Time to grieve, time to accept and time to begin to heal and move forward. This is the most precious thing anyone's ever done for me aside from my husband and my mother who gave me the gift of life. I would not recommend anyone here. Their furniture is poorly made. I had the furniture for a total of 3 months now and there is at least 5 different issues with both sofa and loveseat including stitching, mechanical, and reclining issues. Spent about $1300 total on a sofa and love seat including the 10 year motion warranty they sold me on. I was told that warranty would pretty much cover everything. If my kid accidentally stabbed a hole in the furniture it would be replaced, only to send a letter to the warranty company only to be told they will not cover anything at all. What a waist of money I had plenty of furniture from Mor furniture cost more but never a problem with warranty or furniture falling apart so quickly. **** update. After Yelp review we were told to bring furniture back for a full refund. Next morning loaded up truck to drop furniture off. No one was avail. to help until 1pm I got there at 10am. Unloaded it myself. BTW update came per store request for update or deletion of review. read more

My son continues to grow & needed a queen size bed so we stopped in & checked things out-this was our 2nd mattress store. We were promptly greeted by Carl who showed us queen beds in our price range. My son loved the 3rd bed he laid on. We got pricing & went home to think it over. A couple days later we went back & Carl warmly greeted us again, asked how we were & even talked to my son about high school-I mean who does that? Service was a joke. Couch was expensive first of all. Second, it was not in stock, needed to be ordered and delivered from who knows where. They told us it would be ready by the end of July. End of July comes around, not a word. Called them multiple times, sometimes they wouldn't answer and other times they told me a day it would be coming in and that day would come around and there would be nothing, the day kept getting pushed out. Then they couldn't get someone to deliver it until mid August. We were unable to change the day or the time of delivery at all. There was no point in going to pick it up since we were paying for "free delivery". They couldn't bring it inside the house due to COVID. It came in pieces. They were supposed to come between 12 and 2 on a Tuesday, which is great for a couple that doesn't work during the day, which wasn't us. My husband had to take those hours off from work as a gravedigger to sit and wait for them to come 5 minutes until 2 and put boxes in front of our door step. Very unsatisfactory experience. Would not recommend. read more

Went on the hunt today to buy a new couch and chair. I found just what I wanted at Furniture City, and the prices were fantastic. As for customer service Carl was awesome to work with. No pressure just let me look and try out all the different living room sets. I bought a swivel rocker recliner and a twin mattress from Carl at Furniture City (next to the big K Mart on Burnside in Gresham). Even though he was run off his feet helping multiple customers (and run he did as he appears to be the main salesman there) he took time to listen to my efforts to find a smaller more upright recliner, and showed me multiple recliners (by the way this store has the best and largest selection of all kinds of recliners from plain vanilla ones to advanced power models, about 40 on display). After the recliner was delivered I noticed it appears to be slightly lopsided due to a construction defect (not the store's fault). Not only did Carl replace the recliner he also waived the restock and pickup fees and managed to get everything delivered even though it was their big Labor Day weekend. He is just the best, nicest salesman, with excellent customer skills and willing to "dicker" on prices. I am also sending my son there to buy furniture and will highly recommend Carl and Furniture City to anyone needing furniture. read more

I was shopping for a new bed. I went here a couple of weeks ago and Jude the salesman quoted a brand new pillow top queen for about $500. I told him I'd come back as I wanted to shop for more deals. Well I came in today and he sold me a full size mattress, box spring, and frame for $398! I wanted it that day so Jude also helped me deliver my bed to my house. He was a very nice person and there was no pressure from him at all. It's a high quality bed and I enjoy it very much!!! read more

As an artist who sits on their butt while working on a raised easel making art, I am in need of a sturdy stool for these hours spent. The older man dressed in khaki pants with a slight belly did not want me or my friend in his store for he missed a piece of furniture. I even took the mans advice and looked next door at K-Mart where not a single stool appears. I know what I am looking for otherwise I would not waste my time to come into such a store. Your customer service is something I recommend you that a brusher up course on customer friendliness or if classes are to much for you a self-help book from Barnes & Noble will also help you. Meanwhile a woman sits at the desk with her nose and eyeballs glued to a computer screen. Also a younger sales rep is out on the floor with customers otherwise I would have asked the price. Sadly my hunt continues for a vital piece I need to add to my art studio. read more
